I think we will see her before then.  Especially if you are a fanclub member as I think we will see her in a video blog before then and also you know the media in Chicago will be on the lookout for her and she will probably go home to Canada before or after the taping since she will be over here anyway but that is just guessing on my part about the Canada part.  But I think for sure the tabloids will be on her trail in Chicago and she will probably have Fred with her as I don't imagine she will travel alone.  Anyway we will at least have pictures.  They will most likely be papparazzi pictures and such.  Maybe they will also do promo pictures for her appearance. That would be cool. Just my thoughts.

Warmest regards as always,
Tonto

Do you see any significance in her going to Chicago for this ?  (Think Up! debut concert in Chicago's Grant Park a while back)!

-- Here's a name I haven't heard in a while: People reports that Shania Twain will fill the guest judge's spot in Chicago on Aug. 30-31. Having spent quite a bit of time interviewing Shania Twain over the years, I feel confident in saying that -- with names like Jessica Simpson and Mary J. Blige also swirling around -- she could be a great addition to the judges' panel. I think Paula will be missed more than people realize, but if Idol could get Shania full-time, you wouldn't hear me complaining at all.

I don't see any significance in her going to Chicago,i do think this is the beginning of a comeback.New website blogging and now A.I. it looks to me as if she is trying to getting back into the public's eye.Plus doing A.I. she won't have to answer any questions about divorce or Fred but will be seen.Once she releases new music she can do those interviews and it will help with sales.

Shania enjoyed visiting Chicago the last time round as it's a fun city. As for doing any interviews,  she will probably stay reclusive just as she was before the divorce and to avoid bringing up the whole Frederic thing.

Hopefully she'll talk to the local media like FOX 32 in Chicago.

Talk about pressure. Not only do the people have to get up and sing in front of Shania but in this round of auditions she'll have say in whether or not you go on to Hollywood to compete.

Is Shania Twain on the comeback trail?

August 18, 2009

Twain_Birthday_

With new albums on the horizon from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey snaring much of the mainstream press, there's one leading lady of pop music who could easily steal their thunder. Shania Twain will guest judge on "American Idol," it was confirmed Monday, in what was the latest quiver of action from what's been a rather quiet Twain camp of late.

A Twain return couldn't be better timed. The artist is one of the most responsible for broadening Nashville's pop appeal. It's Twain's songs such as "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" that fostered a country landscape that's open to everything from Miley Cyrus's "The Climb" to Taylor Swift's "Picture to Burn." Right now, with young country darlings such as Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler dominating the scene, the window is open for Twain to storm right in.

Will it happen next week? Twain's website is holding a countdown to her birthday Aug. 28, promising fans "a present." For now, you can stop by and leave your own wishes, and even submit a picture of yourself. Hopefully she's too busy in the studio to review each and every offering.

But there may not be reason to get too excited.

While Pop & Hiss hasn't received any indication from Twain's label reps that new music is on the way (we didn't exactly expect any, either), Twain's MySpace page may have spoiled the surprise. The site revealed that Twain's all-new fan club will launch Aug. 28. If that's it, then Twain is guilty of abusing the pop-culture countdown.

Yet one doesn't go on "American Idol" without something to promote -- the show in itself is a four-month-long promotional cycle. And back in June, Twain posted a note apologizing to fans for a lack of new music, writing, "I wish like crazy that I had new music by now since I dream of how fun it would be to see you all again out on tour with new songs to sing, but as most of you know, I have been side-tracked slightly over this past year."

Twain noted in dealing with her divorce from producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange she has returned to writing. But at the time, there wasn't any indication that anything was eminent. "Time has a way of making everything right, and it is my hope that good music will eventually come out of it."

Here's hoping it's before "American Idol" dumps some more kids upon Nashville (no offense, Bucky).

No, but Shania values her privacy and bearing in mind, some fans find their relationship weird to say the least, with him being the mistresses' ex.

The newest star added to the guest panel is Shania Twain, and if she happens to break out into song with "That Don't Impress Me Much" following some wretched performance, you can just consider me the happiest girl in the world.

Shania Twain set as `American Idol' guest judge

LOS ANGELES — Shania (shuh-NY'-uh) Twain is joining the ranks of "American Idol" guest judges.

A spokesman for the show said Tuesday that the country singer will take part in the Chicago auditions set for the end of August.

Kelly Clarkson, the original "American Idol," and one of the Jonas Brothers also may end up as guest judges. But they had yet to be confirmed Tuesday.

"American Idol" began enlisting visiting celebrities after a contract dispute led Paula Abdul to announce she was quitting the show. There's been speculation that Abdul still could reach a deal and return for the ninth season, starting in January.

I hope this coincides with new music because AI is such a useless show to be on. It is all hype and nothing else. I think Shania should concentrate on actually writing and putting out music instead of signing up for crap like AI.

They no doubt offered Shania a substantial amount of money to be a guest judge, but I don't think she would have accepted the offer just for financial gain, she doesn't do any public appearances unless it's associated with her music and she's intent on releasing new material even if it won't be this year.

Shania Twain Heading for American Idol

August 18, 2009 - Looks like Shania Twain is going to help fill the shoes left empty by Paula Abdul on American Idol. Well at least for a couple days anyway. People.com is reporting that Shania has committed to sit in as a celebrity guest judge during the auditions being held in Chicago on August 30 and 31. Other celebrities signed on to guest judge include R&B superstar Mary J. Blige, former Spice Girl Victoria "Posh" Beckham and pop star Katy Perry.

And by the way, it looks like Shania Twain has some other surprises coming this month. We just checked Shania's official website and found the following message:

"Shania's giving you a present on her birthday! Join us on August 28 for the excitement!"

Shania Twain will turn 44 on August 28 and if you want in on the action, you can leave a personal birthday message for her, just head over to www.shaniatwain.com »

Still no confirmation on when we can expect new music from Shania, but it looks like best case scenario will be sometime next year. Shania hasn't released an album of new material since 2002's "Up!"

Hello I am very excited because I think Shania Twain made the right decision to appear as a guest and the reasons are where she has been away for so long I think she is figuring I need to put my self out some way and American Idol is a way to get back on top. I am also thinking Shania Twain when her website opens in a few days will be making a new album announcement for next Year it's been a long time and now She is ready to come back stronger than ever I am so excited.

Cowell, the often-acerbic British judge, has cast doubt on his own future with the show after his contract expires in May 2010 after repeated comments that he was getting bored with it.

Jackson's contract also expires in 2010 but he has not publicly indicated his wishes.

Despite sliding viewership, "American Idol" is still America's most watched TV show, drawing an average 26.3 million viewers to each episode in the last season that ended in May.

"American Idol" is seen in more than 100 countries and is a joint production between 19 Entertainment, a unit of CKX Inc, and FremantleMedia, a unit of British-based RTL Group, which is controlled by media giant Bertelsmann AG.

Someone pointed out to me that by the time Idol airs it will be over 5 months so maybe by then who knows what Shania will have done. Don't want to get my hopes up but all this back in the public eye is not being done for no reason or is it? That is Shania always guessing and never for certain on anything except that she the greatest entertainer ever!!!  Also Shania is on the MSN homepage as one of the top people.

Warmest regards as always,
Tonto

Twain to guest judge 'American Idol' auditions

Country music star Shania Twain will be the next to fill Paula Abdul's empty seat during "American Idol" auditions.

The Fox network is confirming that Twain will sit in on the Chicago rounds Aug. 30-31. Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige have already wrapped their appearances.

Still trying to schedule time on the judges panel? Katy Perry.

Well, it is just exciting to know that Shania will once be in the public eye, in a BIG way by being a Guest Judge on the Chicago auditions of American Idol.

I think the ratings for any episode Shania participates on will SKYROCKET - not that A.I. needs better ratings, but they do monitor ratings, and any ratings boost is appreciated.

I think Shania might offer to sing a duet with one of the singers later on in the semi finals. Just a guess.

Maybe her 'present' to us will ask us to audition for her and she will choose a winner. Who knows? Just guessing.

Shania is coming out of the retreat. She's coming back! Yippeee!

I echo your words, I bet ET Canada, E-talk and Star Daily will do some coverage of Shania on Idol. I'm thinking the suprise could be a meet/greet contest in Chicago. But if that is the case then fans outside the US would feel neglected.

Shania Twain headed to Idol

Country music star Shania Twain is now apart of the American Idol family according to entertainment gossip sites.

Twain will serve as a guest-judge alongside Simon, Randy and Kara in Chicago, Illinois for two days, Aug. 30 & 31.  She joins the ranks of Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, and Mary J. Blige, who will also serve as guest-judges on this season of Idol.

Shania Twain is a great face for country music and knows a thing or two about selling records, especially number one records.  After a period away from the spotlight, Twain recently reported that she is working on new material and looking forward to getting back on the music scene.  There is no doubt that appearing on Idol will boost both the shows ratings and Twain’s fan base.  Her appearance has no air-date set yet.

Shania Twain: American Idol's Newest Judge

I thought it would be almost impossible to fill Paula Abdul's shoes as a judge on American Idol. Even temporarily. Because she was always the nice one. The one who tempered criticism with praise. But now it looks like the folks at American Idol have found someone just as sweet to sit behind that judge's table: Shania Twain. She is reportedly the latest guest judge and will be taking part in the auditions in Chicago on Aug. 30-31. It's not the coming-out-of-retirement move I would've expected from her, but she's always been a vital part of what makes country so pop, so she's a good fit for this competition. Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice says guest judges like Twain will be in place until they find the right permanent replacement. "What we need to find is someone who has great chemistry," he said. "It's really a casting job."

^ ^ That is funny when they say 'It;s not the coming-out-of-retiremtn move I would've expected from her' - Shania has done a few thing I never would have expected. The most baffling thing she ever promoted for me was the FeBreeze Scent Stories. I never understood that. I know some of it went to charity, but she's alwas supported charity anyway.

I can't wait to see new Shania photos and her new 'behind the scenes' video! :)

That's the mystery of Shania, you never know what she's going to do next, you only have to look at her music videos to see how shocking and different each one is. Shania has carefully chosen which products to endorse over the years and when Proctor & Gamble offered her the Febreze Scentstories thing, she no doubt thought it would be a great way to raise awareness of child hunger and didn't they present her with a donation on the Tony Danza show?

I love the idea of a meet and greet in Chicago contest and would love to be a winner and go but wouldn't that take longer to set all that up. Maybe it will be after the AI taping.  I guess really it would depend on how long Shania is planning on being in town.  She should have a contest and go to Disney with all the winners and take Eja also.  That would be a fun meet and greet for a week type deal.  I know dream on.
But what a fun dream.
Warmest regards as always,
Tonto

American Idol should hire Shania Twain to replace Paula Abdul

August 22, 6:45 AMgreydot.gifFresno TV/Movie/DVD Examinergreydot.gifMichael McGuire

Shania  Twain will judge American Idol hopefuls later this month. She should do well and I hope American Idol producers will hire her as Paula Abdul’s replacement.

Even after several years of self-imposed exile for an extended period of rest and relaxation, Shania is not forgotten and remains in high demand.

She is the ultimate in versatility, which American Idol looks for. Three of her four studio albums were Top 10 country and pop hits, and several of her singles were in the Top 10 of both charts.

Shania has won dozens of major awards for not only her singing but songwriting ability.

Her stage presence is unbelievable.

Shania understands what a good song is, the best way to sing it and the best way to present one’s self while performing it.

What are your thoughts?

Paula Abdul back on American Idol? Perez Hilton speaks out

Who can forget the spacey statements, standing ovations, and sugary nice comments from Paula Abdul in America’s favorite show, ‘American Idol’! Paula shocked the world Tuesday when she announced that she will no longer be appearing on the sensational FOX singing contest.

She posted on her twitter account, “With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return.” FOX released a statement that said that Abdul was “an important part of the ‘American Idol’ family over the past eight seasons, and we're saddened that she has decided not to return to the show.”

A recent poll from Rasmussen Reports says that 17 percent of Americans think the show will be worse now that Abdul has decided not to return. 47 percent say the show will remain the same. While, 30 percent say they don’t know what is going to happen to the hit show’s ratings.

More men, nine percent, think the show will improve now that Abdul is gone. However, only three percent of women think the show will get better. Rasmussen Reports states that ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has asked Abdul to appear as a guest judge, and the CBS show, ‘Ugly Betty’ has offered her a guest appearance.

Perez Hilton, blogger, spoke to MTV News yesterday and said, “Paula will swallow her pride and agree to a pay raise, but not as much as she wanted.” Hilton, like many Idol fans, is staying hopeful she will return.

He thinks that although she is weighing other options at the moment, returning to ‘American Idol’ is in her future this year. Hilton is unimpressed by the line-up of guest judges for next season and thinks no one can quite match up to Abdul.

There are several guest judges in store for the 9th season of American Idol such as Joe Jonas, Mary J. Blithe, Katy Perry, Shania Twain, and Victoria Beckham “Posh Spice.”

But will these judges be able to take Paula’s place? What do you think?

The new season of The X Factor started in the UK tonight. Simon said he wanted the live audience for the auditions, because of the atmosphere and audience response. So, I wonder if they will change the format for the auditions for the ninth AI?
