Thanks Tanya, Jill what can I say about her on one hand I can understand she had enough for living in one of a hell house but she actually gave up on supporting her brothers and sisters that to say was CRUEL by her to do that.

I think that yes Mariana though I don't find much similarity to Shania as Carrie has with Shania.

Jill also appeared in documentary called Behind the Music in 1998 or 1999. But she has changed a lot since then.

Jill had a different father than her two sisters, thus their different appearances.

So that's what Happend To me: "At eighteen, Sharon fell in love and got engaged. She was expecting her first child with her fiancé, Gilbert, but he was killed in a car accident shortly before my older sister, Jill, was born".

Gilbert was her fiancé, not husband. I wonder what's with Clarence Edwards because Shania wrote about him as if he had died too.

I remember Shania saying she never had a relationship or wanted to see Clarence because he walked out on them.

That's what I remembered too Tommy, Shania didn't feel like she have to look for him because of that. I didn't remember though, the part where He got killed.

She wrote in her book it was Jerry's wish. Quote from From This Moment On:

Growing up, I knew he (Clarence) existed, that he apparently never had any other children, didn’t remarry but had a longtime girlfriend with children of her own, that he worked as a train engineer, lived in Chapleau, and had five or six siblings. I did often wonder what he thought of me and if he cared. I believed he probably did, as my mother told me it was more my father Jerry’s wish for Clarence not to be a part of our lives to avoid confusion in the family. Jerry was the one toiling with the day-to-day challenges of raising kids that weren’t his own, and he expressed his feelings clearly in regard to choosing one or the other – that I couldn’t have both fathers in my life. I accepted that as being fair enough.

Yeah but Shania still didn't have any contact with Clarence even after Jerry died. So there must have been some "bad blood" toward Clarence as Shania stated once in an interview.

She didn't mention that but the way she described him in the mentioned above paragraph made me think he might have died. She says she was interested in him and it was more of Jerry's wish for Clarence not to be a part of their lives. I think one would find their dad if they were interested and he was still alive.

Hi Tanya, I think we can't write something if it's not 110% confirmed I didn't remember any part where her biologic father died that's why I had the doubt in my last meesage but all can be. I have this feeling he still lives somewhere and in any case Shania wouldn't bother to mention more that has been already mentioned about him.

You would think that eventually realizing how short time is and how precious life is that curiosity would get the better of both of them and they would try to get to know each other if only for the sake of knowing that there is a part of them out there somewhere that they know nothing about...I don't think that Jerry would mind now but maybe Shania does not want a relationship with him as a sign of respect for Jerry.  I mean the last 2 setences of the quote says she couldn't have bothe fathers in her life...now she doesn't have even one...something to think about...

Warmest regards as always,

Tonto

In the Why not series I could see Carrie-Ann has a beautiful character these two have to sing more together she harmonies Shania's voice so well. We came to see that being more attractive doesn't always guarantee happiness in life

Shania and Carrie have always been close and I imagine the same things goes for her older sister Jill, although we don't really get to see much of Jill in photos or at media appearances or on TV interviews.

On the Own show that Shania did ,at the retreat where she had to write letters to different people in her life, she wrote one to her real father. I don't remember exactly her words but I think she said that she forgave him for leaving their family so long ago.

Shania must be a very forgiving person to do that to a man who walked out on her Mum and siblings at such a young age. I know blood is thicker than water and all that, but actions speak louder than words and he much have been a lowlife to do that. There again we always assumed that her adoptive Father was her inspiration and rolemodel and then all this stuff about him been an abuser comes out. She's obviously a more complex and hurt person than we'll ever know.

According to the Eggar book, Clarence did reach out to Shania by phone every so often after her parents died, but the problem was that the only way he could muster up the courage to call her was to get drunk first.  So Shania told him not to call her anymore if he couldn't call her while sober, and that was the end of that.  It says she felt bad about it afterwards, and did empathize with his plight, and she says maybe she should have been more understanding, but that at the time, dealing with the aftermath of her parents' death, she was under too much stress to deal with him.

And then the book goes on to talk about the whole Ojibwe controversy that later happened in the mid-late 90's, with the Timmins newspaper questioning her heritage and all that, and that just further damaged the chance of any potential relationship she might have with Clarence and his side of the family, as it was Clarence's mother (Regina, who ironically was where Shania got her middle name from) that threw Shania under the bus.
