Your comments :

You know, the fans who made her a multi-millionaire and able to retire in her 40's. Yeah. Those people. Us. I think we would all prefer "to spend time with our loved ones" 24/7 like she does. We the fans have given her that lifestyle.

Wow,  if that doesn't sound like jealousy I don't know what does.

It also sounds ridiculous, moronic, idiotic and asinine .....lol

Yep, you got me. I'm super jealous of Shania. So embarrassed. And you are very intelligent. You are right, it is moronic and ridiculous to say that most people would want to retire in their 40's and be millionaires and be around their loved ones 24/7. Yes, very idiotic statements. I shall go hang my head in shame.

I loved when these conversations go just as planned......like taking candy from a baby.

In all seriousness, why do discussions about Shania anger people like yourself? I have never understood it. It it is not such a big deal like you said, then just ignore the posts and carry on and relax yourself. People like to debate. People like to spar. It makes the world a more interesting place. It would be boring if everyone drooled over Shania and said no matter what she did, they would still adore her. How boring.

I seriously don't understand why some people cannot handle opinions other than their own......so some feel like Shania is being selfish......why does it bother some so much....and then they try to shut down discussions about it....

The reason why this makes me angry Butters is for 3 reasons 1) I thought this was forum for fans to talk about the Persian they idolize and   respect but all i have  sen is bitterness and hate towards Shania  2) If you are so angry with with her then why are u even still a fan why waste you time on her  if your just going to bash her and other fans. 3) If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it all.  Overall I wish people would just respect Shania and her fans on here.

Idolize? I guess there is the problem.right there. Some of us like her music but don't idolize another human being. I have to admit I used to force my opinion and argue a lot on this site but I learned a lesson 2 years ago, there Is no benifit to waste that much energy on any artist. I wish she would put out an album but I can't change who she is. So I have no problem with anyone voicing negative or positive opinionss of shania, we are all fans of her music. I just do not participate in that anymore because certain peope get over sensitive if you say anything abit negative about shania. Oh and whoever made the comment to butters about jealousy lol that is the most absurd comment ever. Nobody on this site is even remotely jealous of her. In fact everyone wants her to be at the heights of her success again. So just my opinion but fans have every right to judge shania on the way she has handled her fans and career. After all shania chose to be in the public eye when she wanted to make money and chose this career. So she is subject to any opinion fans who bought her music want to have. No fan would ever be jealous of their favorite artists success. But like I said I refrain from making any negative comments about shania anymore because of some over the top fan idiolization and because life is too short wasting on a semi retired artist who makes no music. Chow for now

Whatever I am done fighting yes everyone is initialled to their own opinions I for one adore idolize and love Shania. I love her music and the person she is inside and out, New music to me doesn't matter yes I agree new music would be great but she doesn't own me nor anybody anything . I am glad she Happy  is for once enjoying life. That is all that matters to me is that she is happy and I am proud to call Shania my role model.

If you are going to judge me idolizing such an amazing person fine. I know there are other people who are like me on here that adore Shania. all I ask fine say what you're going to say but can you please be respectful to those who do admire Shania. So fans who dont get so offensive.

Sorry if I sound offensive in all but I just really hate when people bash about other people who I love and idolize and treat them with disrespect.

Don't want to argue with you. Want to respect Tommy.

But I will say this: It makes no sense to say that fans like myself who are DYING for new music and a world tour are considered the ones who should not waste their time with Shania anymore and who are not her "true" fans. It is the opposite. If I had such little respect for her talent and voice and music, wouldn't I NOT want new music......wouldn't I NOT want a world tour. How does it make sense that fans like myself who would KILL for new music. A concert in their hometown. An actual SINGING appearance on an awards show, are the ones who are not "true" fans and who don't respect Shania.

It is not hate and jealousy to say that you have been waiting over a decade for new material from a singer that you consider one of the best in the industry and it makes you sad and angry that there has and most likely will be none.

Like I have said MANY times, I have been a fan from the beginning. Before everyone jumped on the COO bandwagon. I met her at fan fair in the early 90's. Was a member of her original fan club. NOBODY has a right to question someone who is most likely one of her earliest supporters.

I used to defend her on early internet music chat rooms. When people would call her "slutty" and "just a hot body with no talent" and MUCH worse things. She faced TONS of hatred in posts in the 90's.

So don't want to argue. But expressing disappointment and frustration seems much more normal than saying, "I don't care if she releases new music........whatever......" A mega fan of an artist craves new music. Craves to see them perform.

This will be my final post regarding this little situation.

In my post (about 16 comments ago) I used the words:  “bitter” and “jealous”.

Then, in a reply post, a member used the words: “ridiculous”, “moronic”, idiotic”, and “asinine”.

I believe a rational person can see the difference in these words.

Apparently, if your viewpoint differs from this particular member, it’s okay to attack your post with negative verbiage. Unfortunately some people have trouble articulating their thoughts so they turn to negative attacks.

Those are my final thoughts.

Best regards to everyone on the message board.

Lara Fabian's Russian fans call those who idolize their star typical fans and those who don't idolize her they call atypical. But anyway those who adore and criticize her get on pretty well with each other.
My point is the fact that we are all here means we're all fans. Some of us see Shania's faults as well as her good sides so why don't we accept two sides of being a fan and stop taking it personally.

I know we've been through this before but Shania's voice is not the same anymore. People say it's the audio quality on these videos but that's just a small factor. You can hear she is struggling... hmm

Tommy, these are older videos which I LOVE, and I agree with you! Her voice is not the same which on a minor note is sad, but I am so overly thrilled that fans that attend the shows say she is improving. I don't know if it was strained more in the beginning because of lack of singing for so long, nerves, rehersals, etc... Her voice is not fully what it was but her performance of FTMO on 4/2/13 was stellar. I just watched it in the video, wasn't there. I am going back for more.

BTW, I love this video. Short, but the way she projects her voice in TDIMM, is amazing!

Ball State alum fiddling for Shania Twain

by Keiara Carr | The Journal Gazette | May 19, 2013

bilde?Site=JG&Date=20130519&Category=ENT02&ArtNo=305199998&Ref=AR&Q=85&MaxW=400&MaxH=600
Violinist Jason Mowery, a former Fort Wayne resident, performs nightly shows in Las Vegas.

How did violinist Jason Mowery go from fiddling in small town shows in Indiana to performing nightly in Las Vegas with Shania Twain, one of the top-selling female country artists of all time?

Well, he had to pull a few strings.

Before the former Fort Wayne resident performed for thousands in 18 countries on five continents, before playing the Grand Ole Opry, and even before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, Mowery was working on graduating with a music engineering technology degree from Ball State University in 2000 with a passion for live performance and no idea of what to do next – except email anybody in the country music industry within a 20-mile radius of Nashville.

“I got really lucky,” Mowery says by phone from his home in Nashville. “I was working in the computer lab at Ball State and had some down time so I taught myself how to design a website probably a year and half before graduation. I started sending out my website like a business card.”

From one fateful email, Mowery, 36, has established himself as a touring country musician for 13 years. He is currently performing with Shania Twain during her Caesar’s Palace residency.

“I still live in Nashville, but we go out to Las Vegas about four times a year and we’re there for about three weeks,” he says. “We play shows almost every day.”

In April, Mowery was awarded Ball State’s prestigious Outstanding Alumni Award for his long list of accomplishments.

Mowery says that it wasn’t until he had to write his biography for the award program that he took the time to reflect on where his career has taken him.

“It really caught me by surprise. I didn’t think about what I do as major accomplishments,” he says. “You just lose track of everything you’ve been doing. It just made me really proud to step back and look at what I’ve done from the outside looking in.”

By some divine force – or forwarding by a co-worker – Mowery’s career began straight out of college when a mass email landed in the inbox of a manager looking for a temporary fiddler to play in the band of a new country singer, Keith Urban. Mowery says the band’s original fiddler had decided to take a New Zealand vacation.

“I was brought in to audition and to rehearse, and I instantly moved to Nashville,” Mowery says. “When that girl came back from New Zealand, I had kind of stolen her job. It turned into touring for four and a half years.”

Mowery first began playing the fiddle at the age of 9, growing up surrounded by his grandmother, great-aunts and great-uncles who played in the Decatur-based Geels Bluegrass Band. The band is a well-known fixture on Indiana’s bluegrass circuit. Mowery said he picked up fiddling from his great-uncle, Master Fiddler Francis Geels. Born in 1925, Geels performed on the same fiddle for most of his adult life. Before he died in 2011, Geels made a home recording of more than 100 songs just in case he ever forgot how to play them. The recordings now serve as an archive for bluegrass musicians.

“I sort of idolized him,” Mowery says. “I always wanted to do what he was doing.”

By the age of 11, Mowery was performing as a fiddler in the band. As a teenager at North Side High School, Mowery competed in fiddling competitions, winning several state fiddling championships and placing as a top 10 finalist in the Grand Masters National Fiddling Championship. However, as a high school senior, Mowery decided to go to Ball State to pursue architecture.

“I had drafting classes when I was at North Side, and they were college-level courses. It was really cool, and Ball State had a really great program,” he says.

Over the one year that he studied architecture, Mowery continued to play fiddle in a number of bands for extra money. He realized that he wanted to pursue music professionally; he transferred to the college’s School of Music the next year.

Mowery began to study recording technology, sound synthesis, composition, computer music and performance.

“There are all sorts of different jobs in the music business, but the one that is the most unstable is live performance, which is what I do as a touring musician,” he says. “You might be really busy for a while and then nothing. You have to be good at planning and managing your money.”

Over the years, Mowery has expanded his repertoire to include classic violin, mandolin, lap steel, banjo, guitar and Dobro, a resonator guitar. He says that working with artists in other genres, like Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Fogerty, gives him a chance to grow as a musician. He says that he would like to work with bluegrass-country singer Alison Krauss and rock guitarist Derek Trucks.

“I want to play with AC/DC, but I don’t think they’re going to hire a fiddle player anytime soon,” Mowery says.

Since working as a touring musician isn’t usually a long-lived career, Mowery has begun to think of other ways he can stay involved in music. He has already written songs with some of Nashville’s most prominent songwriters for Canadian Idol Jaydee Bixby and Jessica Harp, one-half of former country duo The Wreckers. Mowery married Harp in 2008. The couple has one daughter, Stella.

He says that once he gets older, he would like to stay in Nashville with his family and become a songwriter full-time.

“It’s physically hard to be a touring musician. There’s only so much sleeping on planes and buses a person can take,” Mowery says. “With already having two back surgeries, retirement might come a little quicker for me.”

Whatever the future, he knows that his place will always be behind the music.

“I love being the side guy. I never wanted to be the guy standing in the center,” Mowery says. “I’ve always loved being in the context of a band.”

Yeah Tommy her voice isn't the same anymore... just listen to the difference between IGGG in LV and this video:

And she's live here too, because at the end of the song she sings "I'm gonna getcha real good" in a lower tone than the album version

Yeah I saw that a couple hours ago but it looks like he deleted it. Could it be the same horse?

Perhaps her voice is the answer to the mystery of why she does not perform on award shows anymore. She is a perfectionist. She feels safe in vegas performing to her super fans who will not judge her. But if she knows, and of course she does, that her voice is not as good anymore, then she does not want to sing on award shows anymore or take part in singing specials on television.

It would make perfect sense. The combination of lack of new material and a voice that is not what it use to be can perhaps make her very reluctant to sing outside of vegas. And could also be adding to the reason for not recording new material.

As to singing in studio, she still can do that. Especially when she can perform live in her show not only to her adoring fans but also to tourists who may not be her didicated fans but just corious. My point is that in studio good producers and engeneers can make people sing even if they cannot sing at all. Shania can, so I don't see any problem.

As to award shows, I think she doesn't do that because she has no new songs to promote and the awards shows give the time to those who need to promote something.

I love this forum, it allows me to see different perspectives and shed a light on what I haven't already thought of. I agree her voice is not what it used to be. It's there and she can still sing, it's just different. I enjoy it still, even live. What I have come to understand in recent years is that change can be very abrupt and might surprise on-looker, in this case on-listeners. :) It could also do with the fact that your voice deepens with age. The arangements are changed in the Vegas shows, sometimes drastic, but suttle at the same time if you know what I mean. It fits with who she is as an artist now. As she said in December, and don't quote me exactly but she admitted: I am a whole new artist, trying to prove myself again.

If this is true, I am really disappointed in her. This is why you don't use live animals, Shania! She should have cancelled her show tonight and cancelled her award show appearance. I love her more than anything, but i have had hesitated to purchase tickets because I dont think animals should be in live shows. This just sealed the deal for me. This is going to attract a lot of negative press for her. Stop it Shania, your talent is enough, you don't need horses in your show.

Sorry for the rant, but this story breaks my heart and I hope its not true!!

Here's the tweet from last night. I found it on another message board:

Shania Twain was forced to adopt a new horse for her STILL THE ONE show at The Colosseum. One of her horses used on the show has died. The singer will tell it all to Robin Leach tomorrow in a exclusive interview for Vegas Deluxe.

Here is a review of the show posted by a blogger.

Shania Twain’s Las Vegas Show Proves She’s ‘Still The One’

by Kimberly Strand on May 23, 2013 · 12:25 p.m.

My husband and I were in Las Vegas this past weekend, and of course I knew (wink) that he would want to see Shania Twain in concert at The Colosseum. Actually, he is a trooper, and enjoys concerts, so he didn’t complain about going.

Upon our arrival at The Colosseum, I could feel the excitement of the audience anticipating the show. People were talking about her career, some had Shania t-shirts on, and two sisters had on black outfits and top hats to mimic what Shania wore in her video “Man, I Feel Like A Woman!” It was fun to see.

There are too many highlights from the show to talk about, so I’ll just give you my favorite bits. For those of you who have seen it, you know what I mean.

The show starts … the curtain goes up and we hear a motorcycle revving its engine. Here comes Shania sitting on a tricked out motorcycle , but the kicker is, she’s about 20 feet in the air on cables. Las Vegas extravagance at it’s best!

Ater getting to the ground, she starts her 18-song set with “I’m Gonna Getcha Good,” followed by “You Win My Love,” singing in a skin tight sequined bodysuit. She looked great (ask my husband) and I was impressed with her voice.

I wondered what she would sound like after not performing for almost a decade, and not surprisingly, she sounded great! She had a fabulous band which included ten musicians, four fiddle/violin players, a cellist, and three back-up singers, one being her younger sister Carrie Ann Brown. She also had four very good looking dancers, and two horses, one black and one white. Both were gorgeous creatures, and exciting additions to the show.

While preforming some of her more country hits, the stage became an old western town … saloon included. I like some country music, but I admit, I like all of Shania’s songs. They’re upbeat and downright fun. The choreography was energetic, and the costumes excellent. I think she had some sequins in every costume she wore – which was okay by me, and perfect for a Vegas show!

I really loved that in between several songs, she stopped and talked to the audience.  She has noted in interviews that she loves mixing with her fans. This she proved when she came into the audience not once, but twice to shake hands (including MINE), high-fiving (yep, my husband), and giving people hugs … a lot of them! I was very impressed. She definitely cares about her fans and takes the time to make them feel important. Very cool.

One of my favorite parts of the show was when she and two of her singers (twin brothers) sang a short a cappella version of the song “Carrie Anne,” dedicated to her sister. She lamented that she and Carrie used to sing together when they were very young and their mother (who was killed in a car accident at the age of 42) didn’t live long enough to see her success. How proud she would be.

Another memorable part of the show was when Shania brought several audience members up to sit around a faux campfire for a sing-along. She even includes them by letting them sing into the mic during the songs. Again, fun stuff.

I can’t not tell you about the gigantic 34′ by 109′ LED screen which played some of the best videos throughout her career, including “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “Man, I Feel Like A Woman,” “From This Moment On,” and more. Wow! Very visually pleasing.

My personal favorite, though, was toward the end of the show, when Shania, wearing a stunning white gown road onto the stage on the back of a beautiful white horse, singing my favorite song, “You’re Still The One.” It almost made me cry, it was so beautiful. The horse actually bowed with her on it, and when she dismounted (still singing), he followed her every move on the stage. It absolutely gave me goose bumps, and that song … it’s simply the best.

Following “You’re Still The One” was the beautiful “From This Moment On,” and then came the show-stopping finale. There was a set and costume change, and then out came the band a-rockin! A huge SHANIA in lights descended from the ceiling onto the stage, and she came out in her black glitter outfit, tall black boots and  a top hat for “Man, I Feel Like A Woman!’

The place rocked, and glitter came down from the rafters. It was a fantastic ending to a very memorable show. The entire audience was on their feet singing and dancing to the music. A truly happy crowd.

Shania Twain is not just an exciting entertainer, singer and songwriter, she is a beautiful person, both inside and out. I only hope if you go to Las Vegas anytime soon, you put her show on the top of your list. It is truly worth it.

Here is an article/review from China.

Shania Twain - 'Still the One' in Vegas

By Zhang Rui | China.org.cn, May 29, 2013

Country superstar Shania Twain is still the one that fans loved and the one who managed to deliver an elaborate performance when she played the stage of the 4,300-seat Caesars Palace concert hall in Las Vegas, U.S.

Shania Twain made her long-awaited return to the stage at the Colosseum, former home to her fellow Canadian diva Celine Dion, in December of 2012, as part of her so-called Superstar Residency at the venue. She's currently staging 12 shows running from May 14 to June 1.

China.org.cn recently attended one of her shows in Las Vegas, which saw the singer with her full-on energy, humor and willingness to conquer audiences after a decade-long absence marred by issues including a painful divorce.

Shania Twain descended onto the stage on a motorcycle to the beat of her 2002 hit "I'm Gonna Getcha Good," and continued to belt out some of her biggest hits. Two horses appeared during "No One Needs to Know" and "Still the One" and as she was riding horseback, the audience cheered her on.

The 47-year-old singer, clad in sparkling bodysuits and thigh-high boots, also performed some of her best country-pop crossover songs such as "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under," "From This Moment On" and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" together with her live band and dancers. The huge LED screen presented various visual spectacles which, in combination with the accompanying stage settings, added points to the whole production.

Twain also stepped down from the stage to hug fans as well as invite them to join her on stage for songs. Some fans flew in from as far as France. They encouraged her to keep on pursuing her already impressive singing career.

Shania Twain's 1997 album "Come on Over" is the best-selling country album of all time. Even though she said she was initially nervous about how her comeback would be received, her first 24 performances all sold out. Tickets for the shows between mid-October and mid-December are on sale now.

Shania Twain

It’s going to be a Celine kind of summer starting Tuesday. So if you prefer your first-name Canadian diva to ride in on an airborne motorcycle, dance around with buckaroos and sing to a horse, then you have just Friday and Saturday to catch Shania Twain’s “Still the One” opus at Caesars Palace. Tickets are $55 to $250 for 7:30 p.m. shows both days; call 800-745-3000.

I went to the show this past Wednesday. None of her outfits or awards were on display. Does anyone know why they don't display these items anymore?

Maybe she wants to show the items somewhere else while she's not in Vegas.

We'll see. At least she mentioned before that Vegas is only one of the possibilities.

Izy Twain, that's so exciting that you got to hug and sing with her! Where were you sitting and which song did you get to sing with her? I went last week and had a great time as well- the show is incredible.

I just checked yesterday's Hot Tickets column and the Sales/Attendance numbers for Shania's last 4 shows (May 28-June 1) are not posted. There's no way she could not have been in the Top 5 (5,000 seats or fewer). I sent them an email to make them aware and see why the numbers were not posted. I'd like to know the numbers anyway.

And even if she didn't make the Top 5, it would be interesting to know anyway.
