Shania Twain Is Heading To Las Vegas! (continued)

That would make a total of 110 shows instead of the 120 shows announced (60 par year). I hope some dates are missing because if these ones are the only dates for the fall then I'm really disappointed since I'm arriving in Vegas on Oct. 26... I am crying right now. Great.

That stinks. Maybe you can go a couple days earlier. It looks like Shania's last show in October is the 25th. Then Rod Stewart takes over November 5-23. It's strange Shania only has 6 shows in December beginning on the 6th.

I don't know If that would be possible. We'll be in Yosemite NP on the 24th and we're spending the night in Wawona. We were supposed to spend the following night in Mammoth Lakes and then visit Death Valley NP before heading to Vegas. To be in Vegas the night of the 25 I think we should be driving all day and skip the rest of Yosemite before coming back to Death Valley on the 26. I don't even know if it is possible to go from Yosemite to LV in one day.

Come on, that's not an accurate assessment. We're all fans, but it's very unrealistic to expect Shania to high five every single person in the auditorium. That is, if she had a body double. Lol! I'm Team Kevy on this one: drop the pageantry and focus on the show itself!

Wow sorry. I wasn't trying to start an argument or anything. Ya I see your point tho.

The show is 100% awesome. Everyone should see it. I think if Shania did what Celine does changes is it up form time to time then her ticket sales would be better. But who knows right.

That's okay. I'll check it out!

Best Resident Performer: Shania Twain

Las Vegas Weekly Staff | Thu, Jul 17, 2014

Shania Twain truly is Still the One. Her greatest-hits show is glitz and glamor and heavily incorporates the audience. She’s active in the community (she opened a kids club in North Las Vegas and was the Great Santa Run grand marshal). She’s everything one could ask for in a Strip headliner. The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, 888-929-7849. July 18-19, 22-23, 25-26, continuing residency, 7:30 p.m., $55-$250.

I think the big announcement will be the Still The One DVD. Shania said that there will be a dvd of it, so I guess they're gonna film the show in October or December.

A DVD would be great! Can't wait... They absolutely need to make the announcement since it's less than 3 months from now until the supposed return on October 8!

really? you guys really think a big announcement is a dvd? how is that a big announcement lol i wouldn't even get a little excited about a dvd lol the announcement has to do with her either extending her residency in some way or ending it. My guess is and all the signs are that she will continue it in some way with maybe a big break next year to tour and promote a new album.

Shania Twain Receives Vegas Honor

Named "Best Resident Performer" on Best Of Las Vegas list.

By Bob Paxman | Published: July 20, 2014

Shania Twain has been drawing raves for her Las Vegas production, Shania: Still The One, since the show premiered in December of 2012 at Caesars Palace.

Now, she's received an official honor for the exciting one-woman show as Las Vegas Weekly named Shania "Best Resident Performer" on the publications "Best Of Vegas 2014" list.

Shania's concert production takes fans through various stages of her life and career as she performs her biggest hits in an intimate setting that gives off a personal feel.

And that's now all. Shania also recently set a record in Calgary, Canada by headlining two back-to-back sold out performances during the Calgary Stampede last week (July 9 and July 10). It has been 10 years since the singer performed live in Canada and she proved that she still has not lost her touch.

"In our ten years of Saddledome concerts during the Calgary Stampede, Shania is the first artist to sell-out two back-to-back shows," says Adam Oppenheim, Managing director, Stampede Concerts Inc. "The Calgary Stampede and Stampede Concerts Inc. are ecstatic about Shania's two performances, and the fan's enthusiasm speaks for itself."

Looks like Shania is "Still The One" with fans. Her Las Vegas run at Caesars Palace will continue through July 26.

Nope, a DVD wouldn't be a BIG announcement... But you never know what they mean with BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.

Maybe they'll just wait until the show of the 26th is over to make the BIG announcement that "No! This is not over! Shania will be back in October and December!!" which is something we already know!

Like Kevy, my guess the big announcement will be a tour next year as the Calgary Herald reported Shania is already looking at dates in the Spring. And hopefully coincide with a new album. But I think she is finished with Vegas after December because in the Facebook chat she said "If you want to come see a show in Vegas, you better do it soon."

I think the same. But I can't understand why they're saying a big VEGAS announcement is coming? Maybe they'll announce "Still the One : on the road"...??? They could at least confirm the fall dates.

I'm really tired of waiting. If I need to change my plans for October, I absolutely need to book flights and hotels before the end of this month. Prices are going crazy!

Mmm. I wonder what sense does it make to add new songs and costumes when the run of show is almost done.
They've done the same show for a year and a half and suddenly they're gonna add new songs for the last 2 couple of months?
I mean, I'm so happy, and I hope one of the new songs will be FAFA or SNJAPF, Shania's voice is so much stronger now, so she could easily sing those songs. I bet she'll add LGMET during the campfire set as she did in Calgary.
Maybe the announcement will be something else then if they're gonna make these changes... we'll see.

Yes, they already added LGMET. I've found a video.

That's probably the only new song and with costume changes they probably mean the dress with the veil during YSTO.

Cool, I love LGMET. Too bad for FAFA & SNJAPF. Thanks for the videos.

And I think she will end with RTC instead of MIFLAW.

July 21, 2014

Not many performers have impacted Las Vegas quite like Shania Twain, including a ride down the famed Las Vegas Strip with a stampede of horses to bringing her legendary country-glamour to fans around the world, but today Shania announced the end of her two-year residency SHANIA: STILL THE ONE at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with the final show set for Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014.

Shania Twain announces end of Caesars Palace residency

By Tovin Lapan | July 21, 2014 | Las Vegas Sun

Country music star Shania Twain announced Monday that her two-year residency at Caesars Palace will wrap up in December.

The last installment of the “Shania: Still the One” show at the Colosseum will be Dec. 13, ending the 100-show residency that began in Dec. 2012.

“At the beginning of this amazing journey, through the rediscovery for my love of performing, I knew the stage would feel like home, but it turned out that Las Vegas itself became ‘home’," Twain said in a release Monday announcing the residency's end.

“Performing for fans who come from all over the world to see the show night-after-night warms my heart. I started the first international Shania Kids Can clubhouse in Las Vegas because I love this city, and my time here has given me more than anyone can ever know. I can’t thank Las Vegas enough.”

There are four performances this week, and then the five-time Grammy Award winner will return for 16 performances spread through October and the first half of December.

Twain was recently named Best Resident Performer in the Las Vegas Weekly’s 2014 Best of Vegas issue.

Shania Twain's Vegas residency to end in December

By Associated Press | July 21, 2014

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Country superstar Shania Twain says she'll end her residency in Las Vegas with a final show Dec. 13, two years after she began performing at Caesars Palace.

Twain announced 16 "Shania: Still the One" shows in October and December, in addition to summer performances running through July 26 at the Colosseum.

The singer known for hits including "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" arrived in Las Vegas on horseback in November 2012. Traffic down the Las Vegas Strip was temporarily halted for the herd of horses that accompanied her on her grand entrance.

Her stage show features trained horses, a live band and a flying motorcycle.

Organizers said at the time that Twain's residency would be a two-year engagement.

Shania Twain to wrap 2-year Las Vegas residency December; announces 16 new shows

By The Canadian Press | July 21, 2014

TORONTO - Come on over, Shania Twain fans: the Canadian country superstar has announced her final run of shows on the Las Vegas Strip.

Twain's two-year residency at Caesars Palace will conclude with a 16-show run, culminating in a finale on Dec. 13.

In the meantime, "Shania: Still the One" is also running through July 26.

Another 10 dates are scheduled for October before the six-show final run in December.

When she wraps, the Timmins, Ont., native will have performed 110 shows since launching the slick production back on Dec. 1, 2012.

The show features the 48-year-old running through her vast catalogue of hits aided by typical Vegas sparkle and high production values, including a 13-piece band, six male dancers and even a pair of horses.

In a statement, Twain — who had been away from the stage for more than eight years prior to heading to the desert — raved about the city.

"At the beginning of this amazing journey, through the rediscovery for my love of performing, I knew the stage would feel like home, but it turned out that Las Vegas itself became 'home'," she said.

"Performing for fans who come from all over the world to see the show night after night warms my heart. I started the first international Shania Kids Can clubhouse in Las Vegas because I love this city, and my time here has given me more than anyone can ever know.

And we're feeling all sorts of sadsies!

SHANIA: STILL THE ONE has had a stellarly solid run since 2012, and will officially close shop in a grand finale on Saturday, Decemeber 13, 2014.

In a statement released to her personal website, Shania explained:

"At the beginning of this amazing journey, through the rediscovery for my love of performing, I knew the stage would feel like home, but it turned out that Las Vegas itself became 'home'. Performing for fans who come from all over the world to see the show night-after-night warms my heart. Thanks!

We won't know until tomorrow night. During Shania's concerts at the Calgary Stampede she added "Love Gets Me Every Time" around the campfire and added "Rock This Country" after "MIFLAW" at the end.

On the Shania: Still the One facebook page they posted last week "New exciting news from Shania Twain coming. Better come to her shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace soon!". But the news that her residency is going to end is not exciting news. I'm wondering if there will be another announcement.

it is exciting news for some lol Now she can focus on getting new music out next year and a tour. I have to say even kevy is wrong once in a while lol i was leaning towards Shania taking a break but extending her show in some way but i am glad she is ending it. She can now take her shows around the world to some of her very loyal fans around the world. Okay people even i believe now Shania will have new music and a new tour in less than a year. So lets hope Shania becomes relevant again on the music charts soon.

Yes, of course it's exciting news for us. But who runs this facebook page? Isn't it run by AEG Live? I mean why should this be exciting news for AEG Live?

I've always wondered who runs the Shania: Still The One Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/shaniainvegas). At the beginning I used to think AEG Live ran the page but as time went on I had my doubts. It seems like just a fan runs it and acts like it's an official page. Plus if AEG Live ran it you would think they would have Facebook "CelineInVegas" and "RodStewartInVegas" pages too since AEG also produces their shows.

As far as the big announcement, ending her residency is most likely just part of it. She'll probably announce next year's tour closer to the end of her Vegas show in December as the Calgary Herald stated a couple weeks ago.

Oh okay! These are great news! I remember Celine doing the same during her final legs in 2007.

I'll try to avoid photos/videos (if that's even possible) to discover the most of it live in October!

After 110 Shows, She'll End Her Caesars Palace Run in December

Written by Samantha Stephens, CMT | July 23, 2014

It's been a great two years for country-pop queen Shania Twain at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, but I guess all good things must come to an end, right?

On Dec. 13, after more than 110 shows on the Vegas Strip, she'll close the door on her wildly popular Shania: Still the One show.

Did you get a chance to travel to Sin City to see it? I didn't, and now I'm completely distraught. This wasn't just any Shania Twain show. It was a spectacle, boasting a massive band, dancers, a flying motorcycle, multi-scent (yes, scent) show projectors and, yes, trained horses. All onstage.

And the residency at the Colosseum was more than just a chance for Twain to entertain her fans on a massive scale. Her tenure in Vegas was a chance for her to give back in a massive way, too, with her Shania Kids Can venture, an after-school program she began in the city at a public school in need. The program helped launch a clubhouse where kids can enjoy a host of activities geared toward their betterment and well-being.

So it's safe to say, Shania will be equally as sad to leave her Vegas home when the curtain closes in December. In a statement said, "I can't thank Las Vegas enough. ... My time here has given me more than anyone can ever know."

Well, you could always stay or maybe take the show -- parts of it, anyway -- on the road.

I mean, isn't Garth Brooks doing a world tour with his full band after wrapping up his one-man show at the Wynn in Vegas?

Shines like neon, stings like defeat

By Mike Weatherford | Las Vegas Review-Journal | July 26, 2014

There’s no such thing as a sure thing in Vegas.

Well, there is that rule about always splitting eights and aces.

And if you lose at roulette, double your bet on the next spin and you’ll win it back.

What about bringing back “Mamma Mia!” which is still playing on Broadway as one of the top-grossing musicals in history?

How about building an exclusive comeback showcase for Shania Twain, the biggest-selling female country singer of all time?

Lady Vegas, you are a cold one.

“Mamma Mia!” turns out to be a jaw-dropping disaster. It will run just one more week at the Tropicana Las Vegas before it closes Aug. 3, putting a three-month wrap to what was supposed to be an open-ended run.

And Twain will close shop at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December, after returning for 16 more shows.

You can’t equate it to the “Mamma Mia!” debacle, since Twain will chalk up 110 shows in the Strip’s premier headliner venue. But, just like Bette Midler in a similar scenario a few years ago, you can sense the disappointment. Both sides put in too much effort not to keep rolling beyond the original two-year commitment.

At least those gambling rules are backed by some degree of mathematical logic.

Entertainment makes us wrestle with more intangibles, such as the fact that no one I ran into seemed excited about “Mamma Mia!” coming back. No one, that is, but my daughter, who wasn’t old enough to see it during its six years at Mandalay Bay. And on Broadway, new teens coming of age help explain the show’s longevity.

But in Las Vegas, oversaturation is at the top of the list for concrete explanations. The show never stopped touring after it left Las Vegas in early 2009. Las Vegas trades in repeat visitors, and even new ones here for a couple of nights have to make tough choices.

We also know the Trop reached out to the show’s producers, not the other way around. So perhaps the invitation came with no request for royalty reductions that might otherwise seem reasonable for a show that’s circled the world so many times.

The Trop is also a stand-alone casino, without physically connected sister properties or a wider database for marketing, as the musical enjoyed during its Mandalay Bay years.

And there’s just something about that place lately. It has a way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory time and again.

With Shania, we are also in the realm of the intangible: The feeling that this comeback simply wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

A DVD called “The Discovery of Eilleen Twain” has been sitting on my desk a long time.

After Monday’s news that Twain would call it quits after two years, I finally watched it.

It’s a cheap little effort. About a half-hour of documentary wrapped around footage of a very young Twain performing in “Viva Vegas,” a revue at the Deerhurst Inn Resort in Ontario in the late 1980s. The gig enabled her to make the jump from her hardscrabble youth to Nashville, Tenn., where she changed her name to Shania, hooked up with producer “Mutt” Lange and went on to make history.

The DVD’s irony comes in the resort show’s Las Vegas ambitions. It was probably no worse than anything actually onstage in Vegas in the ’80s — not the city’s best decade by anyone’s count.

Still it’s quite comical to watch today, with Twain singing in her poufed-out ’80s hair and low-cut sequined gown alongside some guy who looks like Bill Murray’s lounge lizard character. For her solo spot, she belts “Somewhere Out There” to a tinkly electric piano. Then the word “Somewhere” triggers a key change and bam! It’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Cut to this weekend, where any destiny foreshadowed by “Viva Vegas” was fulfilled by Twain cavorting on a Wild West saloon set with dancing cowboys and cowgirls on the Colosseum stage. And like the ’80s show, it seems anachronistic and contrived.

“Viva Vegas” may have foreshadowed Twain’s destiny, but she skipped right over the years she really should have been here. The ones following her last album in 2002. The years that ushered in Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, etc., were the ones when Twain was sidelined with vocal and personal issues.

But the singers who followed Twain’s break from the format restrictions of “country” also became more “pop” in their timeliness and shelf life.

Twain came back with live horses and motorcycles that would make “Viva Vegas” jealous. But like “Mamma Mia!” she just didn’t seem to come back with enough new reasons to make enough people care.

I just think she wanted it to end to put real efforts into making new music in 2015.
Maybe she'll come back in Vegas, maybe not.
Maybe she'll tour again, maybe not.
Time will tell us but I also think that things will never be as they were in late 90s/early 00s, when she was at the top of the world, and I know she knows it too.

Vegas is a tricky place. Shania delivered a Vegas-themed country show, not an easy feat to do. There are many wacky, over the top and mediocre performers here; that strange combination in performers it's what makes Sin City do what it do. If according to Weatherford, she's always been an act, he is right; but he can't make up his mind whether to praise her for her previous success or diss her recent performances. The major point of contention is the absence of new songs in the show and her length of absence (not her fault), rather than her performance style. Vegas has always been delightfully tacky (hate to borrow from the Hooters slogan, lol) and cheesy, in a campy way. This is the city where the absurd is embraced and he lacks the humor to understand that.

It seems like he is critical of Shania for blending country with pop and suggests that she paid the price by becoming as disposable as a Top 40 act. That's a can of worms that I do not want to open because things can get ugly. I respect Shania's musical choices and as long as she makes good music, I do not care much about the rest. However, I observed in her memoir that she has an ambivalent attitude towards her role in country music. Maybe she felt burned by the way Nashville treated her (e.g. having a crossover career) and is caught between a rock and a hard place (e.g. stay in country or become a full-time pop artist). Her most recent musical influences are pop-rock and has remained mostly silent on today's country artists. I can only speculate.

I don't really care whether she will be at the top of the world with her new music or not. Many of today's top musicians make poor music and are mainly on top for reasons other than their music. I think being on top nowadays says nothing about the quality of the music. You can make it to the top with good music and with garbage. There are so many singers with serious good music who aren't on top and instead of them mainstream garbage singers like Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are on top. I think most important is if we the fans will be happy with the new music. As long as the fans are happy who cares what the rest of the world thinks?

Shania Twain Prepares to Close Vegas Show

By Mike Tuttle | July 28, 2014

Since December 2012, Canadian country music singer and songwriter Shania Twain has held residency at The Colosseum at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, performing her elaborate show Shania: Still the One. But it was announced last week that all performances will end this December, after approximately 110 appearances on the stage.

The show, which is described as “a spectacular journey through the various stages of Shania’s life and career in an unforgettable evening filled with music, multi-sensory experiences, fashion and a few unexpected surprises,” began with Shania’s entrance down the famous Las Vegas Strip, complete with a herd of 40 horses. Police had to divert traffic on the strip until the spectacle passed.

“At the beginning of this amazing journey, through the rediscovery for my love of performing, I knew the stage would feel like home, but it turned out that Las Vegas itself became ‘home’,” said Shania. “Performing for fans who come from all over the world to see the show night-after-night warms my heart. I started the first international Shania Kids Can clubhouse in Las Vegas because I love this city, and my time here has given me more than anyone can ever know. I can’t thank Las Vegas enough.”

During her time in Sin City, the 48-year old also started an after-school program for needy students.

“I started the first international Shania Kids Can clubhouse in Las Vegas because I love this city, and my time here has given me more than anyone can ever know,” she said.

In 2004, Shania retired from performing and retreated to her home in Switzerland, citing a weakened speaking and singing voice. After meeting with specialists at the Vanderbilt Dayani Center in Nashville, she was diagnosed with dysphonia, an impairment in the ability to produce voice sounds using the vocal organs. However, this condition is treatable and with rehabilitation, Shania returned to the stage in 2012. Though there have been three canceled performances of her Las Vegas show due to inflamed vocal chords, she continues to entice her record-setting audiences.

Shania: Still the One includes hits such as That Don’t Impress Me Much, You’re Still the One, and Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Shania was also recently named Best Resident Performer in the Best of Vegas 2014 list.

As of this month, her Vegas show has a revenue of $36,703,410.
