Shania attends Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Bliss Ball in Toronto

Bliss Ball 2014

The Dilawri Foundation is proud to host its third annual Bliss Ball gala in support of one of the world's most remarkable paediatric health-care institutions, the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Taking place on September 20, 2014, this year's gala will again draw some of the business world's most renowned philanthropists in support of a vital cause, The Patients Amenities Fund. This fund provides much needed assistance in necessities crucial to healing, keeping families together, getting the children to the care they need, and enhancing their lives. Please help us believe in the future—our children.

A Canadian Gala like No Other

Bliss Ball offers the opportunity to eat, drink and mingle with Canada's leaders in media, philanthropy, politics, as well as leaders in our communities.

This year’s Bliss Ball is being held at The Garrison Common at Fort York National Historic Site, the birthplace of metropolitan Toronto. Built in 1793, the Fort sits on a 43 acre site that is redolent with rich history. It was the city's primary harbour defense for nearly one-hundred years and hosted a military garrison until the 1930s.

She looks awful in that video and in the pictures below the video. Like a caricature of herself. Way too much makeup. And it's obvious that botox is involved. In that video interview from Charlottetown she looks very weird as well. What a shame. I thought she looked beautiful with her wrinkles. She must be really insecure about how she looks. That's sad. However in the watermarked pictures she looks a little bit better. Probably because they are less saturated and thus her makeup isn't that colourful.

Here she still looked so great (without frozen and puffy face) and it was just a year and a half ago http://www.shaniasupersite.com/shania-onenightonedrop0322113-hq9.jpg

She certainly has had botox injections around her eyes and cheeks....

Not necessary. It looks very unnatural. She is beautiful with her wrinkles and all.

Yes, it's obvious but kind of funny how many naive people still believe she's aging naturally and tell you to shut up when you point out the truth. Looks very unnatural indeed. A little bit Botox may look good but I think Shania has already overdone it. Sad to see a naturally beautiful person destroy that natural beauty. It's just a sick world.

To me, Shania is wearing too much make-up to look plastic.  Shania is a natural beauty.

Sorry, I haven't been active, I've been dealing with some health issues.

seriously women, who cares if she had some botox. Why are women so critical of other women. Maybe she isn't comfortable with her wrinkles showing so much. Who are any of you to judge her? yea she probably had some botox and i can see the difference from a few years ago but i could care less. She still looks good to me.

I'm not critical of other women. I'm critical of botox in general. I'm critical of youth obsession and wrong ideals of beauty. If some guy would destroy his naturally beautiful look with botox I'd be critical as well. I find it ridiculous when 50 year olds try to look like 20. But the thing is that they will never do. No matter how hard they try it will look ridiculous. They may achieve that full face of a 20 year old but the difference is that 20 year olds are able to move their faces and have facial expression. And yes Shania still looks good and natural in some pictures taken from 20 feet away but the close up videos show the truth. They show how her face is (not) moving.

Bryan Adams wows crowd at Dilawri Foundation’s Bliss Ball

By Jennifer Ellis | September 23, 2014

Bryan Adams, one of Canada’s most beloved stars,  wowed the crowd as he took the stage in a surprise performance at The Dilawri Foundation’s Bliss Ball this past Saturday.  The astonished audience—having already been serenaded by jazz-pop sensation Nikki Yanofsky, and given a standing ovation to piano prodigy Daniel Clarke Bouchard—were thrilled when Adams took the stage and started an impressive set with his classic hit “Run to You”.  In a further show of generosity, Adams agreed to personally serenade two members of the audience by singing “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” – thereby raising an additional donation of $30,000. The successful evening of fundraising, with all proceeds going to The Patient Amenities Fund at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), ended on a high note when the audience flooded the dance floor to the strains of “Summer of ’69.”

Earlier in the evening, the live auction became more interesting when guest of honour, Shania Twain, Canada’s own Queen of Country Pop, spontaneously donated a Las Vegas getaway for four lucky winners to see her show, ”Shania, Still the One” live at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, followed by a private dinner with Shania herself.

At the post event c0cktail, guests were entertained by Canadian crooner Matt Dusk as the crowd lingered on to enjoy the evening to the wee hours.

For the past three years, The Dilawri Foundation’s Bliss Ball has redefined the concept of the fundraising gala in the city of Toronto, bringing in world class talent for extraordinary performances, while raising money for The Patient Amenities Fund at SickKids Hospital.  This year, the black tie event was held at Fort York National Historic Site in downtown Toronto with dinner catered by celebrity chef Mark McEwan. The design and décor—dramatic black draping and glittery linens with accents of teal and gold—was executed by society event planner Jeffry Roick of McNabb Roick Events.

The Patient Amenities Fund at SickKids Hospital is a source of financial assistance for patients and their families entirely comprised of philanthropic support. Children from low-income homes account for 56 per cent of admissions at the SickKids Hospital, and there are incidental expenses that vary far and wide, from those as minor as a parent’s hurried lunch, or as imperative as pain relief medication.

Bliss Ball 2014 sponsors included Telus, Scotiabank, and GFL, as well as BDO Chartered Accountants and Advisors, AllWest Insurance Services Ltd., Canaccord Genuity, BMO Financial Group, RBC, The Humberview Group, TD Securities, with Beni Di Batasiolo and Remy Cointreau as official wine and spirits sponsors. Additional sponsors include General Bank of Canada, AutoTrader.ca, Devitt & Forand, Toshiba Canada, Upwardor, Harry Rosen, NUVO, Torys LLP, Circon, Gary Stock, R.H. Carter Architects, Rico Electric, Moore-McLean, Demik Construction and Targeted Strategies Limited.

I agree Kevy. For once I'll sympathize with the celebrity struggle and only because I can imagine all of the people backstage who criticize an aging face, especially women. This is how Shania earns her living. She became famous on the premise that she was in her early twenties, even though she was already 30-ish. If she was a nurse or scientist, everyone would murmur about how hot she still looks. Shania became famous in an era where the standards for physical beauty became impossible. Actors had to real thin (size 2 to 4), look eternally child-like, be hairless everywhere like a prepubescent child. Hollywood's been suspending adulthood for the last 20 years. By the time an actor finally has to grow up, they're old and that can be worse than death for these people. In the era of Marilyn Monroe, curves and a more natural beauty were embraced. Things are slowly changing and there are women breaking that mold and are actually being women such as Adele, Mindy Kaling, Lena Dunham, Lady Gaga (as of recent), Britney Spears (as of recent), Florence Welch, America Ferrera and others.

Considering how some (who will remain nameless) have been so critical of Butters posts about Shania, that critique is like the pot calling the kettle black. It's this auto sexism that keeps women perpetually behind men. This pettiness ruins friendships, professional relationships and everything else between women. I don't see men questioning each other on whether they had a penile implant, hair plugs, take Viagra, had a scrotal lift, or any other plastic surgery. Bruce Jenner, Sylvester Stallone and Mickey Rourke are much more plasticky looking than Shania. Yes, Shania looks like she may have had Restylane fillers rather than botox, who cares? Dolly Parton's had a lot of breast work and other surgery done (and wears wigs), and that doesn't take away from her kind and sweet spirit. I've had relatives and friends who have had plastic surgery and they're great people.

Happy Halloween!
