Shania's Albums To Be Released On Vinyl - October 14

I wonder if this is purposeful on her part, to market her albums and get everyone back into the groove of seeing her albums again, seeing her name again, and it will be followed by the new album? I take it if she was releasing the new music before the vinyl, they would have announced the new music. So I bet we are at least looking for after October 14th for the new music...

I like the idea. Maybe that's it, i.e., they are trying to get her some current recognition. Vinyl is great and is enjoying new popularity. CDs, downloads, etc., are perfect, but vinyl is special. It is something real and raw and I love the little flaws you get with vinyl. I have missed that. I'm not sure yet if I will venture into this and add her vinyl to my collection of old-time records of which I have about 600. Not to mention my 45rpms which are about as many. When I was a lad, LP Vinyl albums ran about $2-$4, not like Shania's & other artists of today's $25+.

Shania Twain comes to vinyl

By Buddy Iahn | The Music Universe | September 27, 2016

Shania Twain, one of the biggest country music superstars of 90’s, is making her vinyl debut this fall. Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) has announced that it will release each of her four studio albums on 120-gram vinyl for the first time ever on October 14th.

Albums include Shania TwainThe Woman In Me, Come On Over and UP!, the latter two which will be released on double vinyl. UP! will see the country version (green disc) and pop version (red disc) issued separately on double vinyl.

Shania Twain was released by Mercury Records in 1993, but was not an immediate success. It charted two minor singles — “What Made You Say That” and “Dance With The One Who Brought You” — but wasn’t certified platinum by the RIAA until six years later, after she was more successful.

The Woman In Me was Twain’s breakthrough album which launched her superstardom with his such as “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” and “Any Man Of Mine.” Produced by veteran rock producer, Robert John “Mutt” Lange (Def Leppard), the album sold more than 20 million copies and changed the course of country music.

Come On Over, also produced by Lange, was Twain’s third album and saw 12 of the album’s 16 tracks released as singles. The album charted for two years and sold more than 40 million copies, making it the biggest-selling album of all time by a female musician. Tracks include “Love Gets Me Everytime,” “Honey I’m Home” and “From This Moment On,” a duet recorded with Bryan White but re-recorded as a solo track for pop radio.

UP! was Twain’s fourth album and third with Lange in the producer’s chair. The album went to on to sell 11 million copies, making Twain the only female artist to have three consecutive Diamond albums released in the United States. Three versions of the album were released: a pop version (red disc), a country version (green disc), and an international version (blue disc) in the style of Indian film music. “I’m Gonna Getcha Good,” “Forever And For Always” and “She’s Not Just A Pretty Face” were released as singles.

As of this writing, none of the international versions of her albums nor her Greatest Hits album are set for release on vinyl.

Shania's Albums To Be Released On Vinyl - October 14, 2016

I ordered Come On Over to start with. It came it today - sounds really good. I'm here for it. I'll probably buy Woman In Me next and Up after that.

Update - Some of the tracks are sped up a considerable amount, especially on Side D. I noticed it with Rock This Country. So I replayed that side of the record and noticed that I Won't Leave You Lonely is about 4:00 (vs. 4:13 listed on the sleeve) and RTC is ~4:06 (vs. 4:23 listed on the sleeve). I didn't notice it with the other tracks but next time I listed to the whole thing I may time each song to see if they are all faster. Unless it's just that my record player is spinning too fast - if anyone else has the album, let me know if you noticed the same thing.
