I'd say 2020 or 2021. Or 2017 + 15 = 2032. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Yes, I bet 2020. 2018 Now Tour, 2019 she will write and record new songs and 2020 she will release the album.

If her voice won't go down again after the Tour. It's a long tour indeed, the longest she's done in 15 years.

Trailblazer Shania Twain celebrates the girl power of Man! I Feel Like A Woman! in the #metoo era

By Kathy McCabe | The Courier Mail - Australia | February 17, 2018

BACK in the 1990s, you might judge a person based on their opinion of Shania Twain.

The Canadian singing sensation rewrote the rule books with her country crossover sound, paving the way for another ingenue called Taylor Swift to match her genre-bending influence on pop culture almost two decades later.

For every one of the 1.2 million Australians (40 million people worldwide) who celebrated Twain’s stranglehold on the airwaves and charts with her breakthrough third record Come On Over in 1997, there were millions of others who begged for respite.

Yet absence made the heart grow fonder, and not only for Twain’s legacy fans, as she launched her comeback last year with Now, her first studio album in 15 years.

It debuted at No. 1 here, the US and UK and her homeland, and tickets for her upcoming tour generated the kind of buying frenzy last week which demanded extra shows in Australia within minutes of going on sale.

The stats speak loudly as evidence of her enduring popularity. What wasn’t as expected was Twain’s arrival as a much-loved social media star and comedic talent.

That kicked off a few years back with her fellow Canadian superstar Drake serenading her at the Juno Awards in 2011 and then declaring his Nashville concert in 2016 his “love set for Shania” who was backstage.

In January, she starred opposite fangirl Kelly Clarkson [correction: Meghan Trainor] in an hilarious Drop The Mic rap battle, trading barbs until the pair confessed their mutual admiration in the final rhymes.

“I think anyone who has seen me live knows I am easy-going and spontaneous,” she says.

“But among artists, like Meghan Trainor who listened to me growing up, there’s now a real cool connection, regardless of music style. I would say it’s more of a pop culture connection,” she says.

A couple of weeks later, dozens of music blog sites which would never have mentioned her without a snarky aside championed DJ Cummerbund’s mash-up of her 1999 hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman with Marilyn Manson’s 1999 altrock single The Beautiful People.

Marilyn Manson and Shania Twain make beautiful mash-up together

Twain loves it, calling the unlikely meshing of the two songs a “compliment all way round”.

“I love it, it’s so funny and a great mash-up. If you listen to it from a distance, it’s completely Man! I Feel Like A Woman but if you hear it loud and close, it’s totally Marilyn Manson,” she says.

“Something like that reminds you a lot of music goes beyond the artist to take on a life of its own. Some songs are so independent, they belong to whoever and have this lasting power that goes beyond who the artist is.”

Twain has a raft of those songs. If you were a 90s child — or parents of one — you instantly recall That Don’t Impress Me Much on hearing the first few bars and probably dedicated You’re Still The One or From This Moment On to your significant other.

The 52-year-old singer and songwriter recognises the nostalgic power of these songs and delights in performing them. But the reason for the Now tour is the new record; it’s not just a trip down the greatest hits road.

Twain busted the barricades of the country music fortress 20 years ago and she pushes out even further on Now, with reggae, Motown and even a dash of tropical house added to her pop palette.

“The music I make and have always made, has always been a reflection of my eclectic influences and nothing has changed. As far as my creative landscape goes, I am that diverse artist who gravitates towards my loves which are not traditional in any sense,” she says.

That non-traditional approach which changed everything back in the late 1990s divided the country music establishment in Nashville.

heir lack of support didn’t impress her much, but Twain weathered the resistance and opened doors for not only Swift but countless other artists including Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and Sam Hunt who blend pop production and rock sensibilities into their sound.

“I don’t think anything has changed with me and Nashville, to be honest,” she says.

“There are always those who embrace me and those who didn’t and it’s the same now.

“I always will be, to some degree, considered an outsider, especially to the country music industry, but not to the fans.”

What has changed is Twain is the sole architect of her music. The reasons for her long absence from recording and performing are well known. Her vocal cords were damaged by dysphonia as a consequence of Lyme disease and she feared she might never be able to sing again.

As she battled illness, her marriage to Mutt Lange, the famed producer behind her late 1990s chart juggernauts, fell apart when she discovered he was having an affair with her best friend.

Twain would eventually marry that best friend’s husband, Frederic Thiebaud, in 2011.

She wrote all the songs and helmed the production of Now, aided by four producers she chose because they would not be tempted to revisit her sonic past.

There is a grit to the polished vocals of her previous records, no doubt partly due to the ravages of her illness.

Staring down a year of touring, Twain says her greatest challenge is to maintain a routine which will protect her voice.

“I take my health seriously. There is a lot of discipline involved for me personally, eating properly, getting the right amount of rest, self-care and self-maintenance. You have to put the performance first and I take that very seriously,” she says.

Just as seriously as she loves Man! I Feel Like A Woman! That clever lyrical pun now resonates as an anthem for the TimesUp equality movement just as effectively as it does to a Marilyn Manson mash-up.

Shania Twain celebrated her girl power with monster hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman!

Twain said at the time of writing it, she was thinking about “my own female spunk from a youthful place” and the disrespect she often felt from the male powerbrokers of the music industry.

“When you are young, there is a lot disdain and no one is listening to you. When you are young and a woman, even less people are listening to what you have to say. It felt very liberating to say that in a song and celebrate being that minority, the young woman with a voice,” she says.

“Now I embrace it even more because now I feel I know that message as somebody who is older. I have lived through that message and the reason for writing it.”

Shania Twain’s Now tour kicks off in Perth Arena on November 30, Botanic Park, Adelaide on December 2, Brisbane Entertainment Centre on December 5 and 6, Hope Estate Winery, Hunter Valley, December 8, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, December 11 and 12 and Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney on December 14.

BILLBOARD UPDATE (week of February 24): After re-entering the Billboard Canadian Albums chart last week at No. 78 in its seventeenth week, Shania's new album NOW falls back off this week's chart. Album-wise and single-wise, NOW is completely off the U.S. and Canadian Billboard charts. Meanwhile, NOW falls 7 spots to No. 39 in its ninth week on the Australian Top 50 Albums chart. Shania's Greatest Hits falls 11 spots to No. 49 in its thirteenth week on the chart.

You know, I was really hoping one of the singles would take off for Shania. I’m just wondering if there is going to be anymore singles at all. To me, it would be a perfect warm up to her NOW tour to perform at the ACM Awards in April with her song, “Home Now.” How awesome would that be as like a welcome home party, that’ she’s home now at the awards. Home now in performing on stage. I think HOME NOW should be the last single off this album!

I highly doubt Shania will attend the ACM Awards in April. She didn't even attend or perform at the CMA Awards 4 1/2 weeks after releasing NOW. That was absolutely crazy!!!!!!

The JUNO Awards in Canada are March 25 and even though she is nominated for 2 awards, I don't expect her to attend either. If she attends they will want her to perform and she doesn't have a current single out to sing.

Her label might release one more single before the tour but it's also quite possible there won't be any more singles from NOW. There just aren't any songs Country radio will play.

I believe they may release something before the tour actually. Or maybe they'll relaunch Swingin' as in one of interviews she mentioned it would be her song of the next summer.

I have to agree with Tommy,  I just don't see any radio hits. I mean there are a few songs I absolutely love but just don't see any making it to radio. The fact that she does not promote the singles doesn't help. I hope on her next album she works with some amazing producers and co-writes some stuff. She's still young enough as long as she doesn't wait another 15 years.

On February 15 (day after Parkland, FL high school shooting) WUSN (Chicago), WMZQ (Washington D.C.) and KHCM (Honolulu) added "Soldier" to their playlists. It is common for stations to sometimes add album tracks that haven't been released as singles to their playlists. Sometimes as a tribute after a tragedy and sometimes just to test a song. Back in October a few U.S. Country radio stations added "Who's Gonna Be Your Girl" to their playlists.

Nominations were announced this morning for the ACM Awards on April 15. Shania was not nominated in any category.

Shania Twain & Other Female Artists Get Snubbed By The 2018 Academy Of Country Music Award Nominations

Not a single woman is nominated in the Entertainer of the Year category.

OK! magazine | March 1, 2018

The 2018 Academy of Country Music Award nominations were revealed this morning, and although some of the big nominees include female powerhouses like Miranda Lambert and Maren Morris, not a single woman was able to score a nod for Entertainer of the Year. And they completely left out Shania Twain, who made a big comeback last year. Social media took notice and weren’t thrilled about the results in the male-dominated category. Click through for all the details.

"Some were also quick to point out how country music legend Shania Twain didn’t get an EOTY nod—or any at all—after coming back from a fifteen-year hiatus. "The queen of country returns with a fantastic album after a 15 year hiatus, debuts at no.1 in multiple countries around the world and announces a massive sell out tour yet you choose to ignore her. Shania Twain sweetie, the real entertainer of the year, I’m so sorry,” one user said.”

This just goes to show once again, what a bunch old foggies we got in good ole' "Bashville". They have never accepted Shania since 1993, so why would they start now. Plus, once again not just Shania, but the women of Country Music appear to have been shut out by the men. I don't think those that voted for this would know good music if it jumped up and bit them in the PA System!!!aww.gifnodisbelief

So UPMG posted on Shania's Tweeter she has sold over 100 million copies? Tommy, can you please verify this and possibly the breakdown of how many albums and singles? I know it might be a task but I think it would be amazing to see the breakdown of how many albums and single sales to date. Thank you!

#FunFact: @ShaniaTwain has sold over 100 million records, making her the best-selling female artist in country music history. #WomensHistoryMonth
https://twitter.com/UMPG/status/969402510724104193

I've never seen a stat that included singles. By 100 million records, I'm pretty sure UMPG means 100 million albums which I don't know how they came up with that stat. From an article last year: "Twain, who has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide..."
https://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/TV/2017/04/14/Shania-Twain-joins-The-Voice-as-key-adviser/1801492174760/

Back in October, UMG Nashville said Shania has sold 75 million albums worldwide:
Shania is a five-time GRAMMY Award-winner and the reigning Queen of Country Pop. With more than 75 million albums sold worldwide and U.S. sales topping 34.5 million, Shania remains the top-selling female country artist of all time. Shania’s albums include her Platinum-selling 1993 debut, SHANIA TWAIN; the GRAMMY Award-winning, Double Diamond-selling 1995 release, THE WOMAN IN ME; COME ON OVER, the best-selling studio album in Soundscan history by a female artist in any genre and the best-selling country album of all time with over 40 million units sold worldwide; and UP!, Shania’s third consecutive Diamond-selling album release.
http://www.umgnashville.com/news/shania-twain-tops-global-charts-now/

While in other NOW album articles and reviews, some were saying 80 million, some were saying 85 million, and some said 90 million.

------------------------------

Someone posted this on Facebook. I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Shania Twain - 3 million worldwide
The Woman In Me - 34 million worldwide
Come On Over - 40 million worldwide
Up! - 20 million worldwide
TOTAL = 97 million worldwide

Greatest Hits - 19 million worldwide

It is also mentioned on her website that The Woman In Me has become double diamond in the USA. I wonder why it wasn't celebrated anyhow. When Come On Over became double diamond Shania was given certificate and there were photos. So mysterius this time.

It is strange then that they write it is double diamond. News about 100 million units sold may be exaggeration as well. I understand it is by UMPG but the information about TWIM is on her official website. Pretty confusing.

It looks to be sold less than 1 million copies because there has been no information about its sales after the first week.

In the U.S. "Now" has sold 220.000 copies as of February 2018. I think the worldwide sales are around 500.000 copies sold.

According to RoughStock, NOW sold 800 copies (U.S.) in the week ending March 4. This brings the total number copies sold in the U.S. to 219,200. That's not very many considering 137,000 copies were sold the first week.

I highly doubt it. I thought there might be one more single released before the tour but it's looking very unlikely now. It's already almost the end of March.

I don't know why Yahoo! waited six months to post this article/interview. If it is a recent interview, I don't know why Shania is doing album press interviews all over again for the upcoming tour. God, I hope not!

The reinvention of Shania Twain: 'There’s nothing worse than losing something you're famous for'

By Elena Sheppard, Wellness Editor | Yahoo! Lifestyle | March 26, 2018

Shania Twain and I are on the phone. I am in a cramped phone booth in my downtown Manhattan office and Shania, as her publicity team tells me, is at her home in the Bahamas, where she’s taking press calls for her first album in 15 years, Now, which she wrote entirely on her own. Somewhere in space and time the 10-year-old version of me has paused her Come on Over CD in my blue Discman with the anti-skip technology just long enough to freak out. But today-me is thinking about loss, and gain, and how mega-fame can catapult life into diametric extremes.

Twain has known great loss. As a girl growing up in rural Canada, she lost touch with her biological father — a man who once beat Shania’s mother so badly her grandmother didn’t recognize her. In 1987, at 22, she unexpectedly lost her mother and stepfather when they were killed in a car accident, leaving Twain responsible for her three younger siblings and a cousin. In 2008, she lost her husband and musical partner Mutt Lange after she discovered he was having an affair with her best friend. But as we speak by phone on this winter afternoon, Twain is talking about a different kind of loss: the loss of her voice.

“It went quite rapidly,” she tells me, pegging the loss of her voice to the end of her “Up!” tour in 2004. In the months leading up to losing her voice, Twain had found a tick on her body while horseback riding in Virginia and was diagnosed with Lyme disease shortly thereafter. “I figured that my [lost] voice was associated with that,” Twain says, also mentioning that she figured the culmination of having the disease, parenting a toddler, and doing her multiyear international tour had fatigued her body to the point of vocal failure. “But my voice just never went right again no matter what I did,” she says. “It’s almost like I couldn’t sing anymore and if I got up and tried to sing, I’d embarrass myself. I was too embarrassed to tell anybody that I’d lost my voice. So I didn’t say anything at all.”

There was a period in the late ’90s and early 2000s when Twain’s voice was everywhere. Her image was too — all teased hair, leopard print, and neoprene. In 1995, at the age of 30, her second album produced her first No. 1 hit, “Any Man of Mine,” a pop-country song with a brand-new sound and markedly feminist lyrics that she co-wrote with then-husband Lange. “Any man of mine better be proud of me/Even when I’m ugly he still better love me/And I can be late for a date that’s fine/But he better be on time.”

From there, the rocket of Twain’s fame took off. Over the course of the next decade, she had seven No. 1 songs, won five Grammys, and became the bestselling female country artist of all time (a record she still holds). She changed the definition of country music, imbuing it with a pop attitude it hadn’t yet seen the likes of, and hitting it with a distinctly ’90s sensibility that flipped the prevalent country-music housewife image on its head. “Honey, I’m home and I had a hard day/ Pour me a cold one and oh, by the way/ Rub my feet, gimme something to eat/ Fix me up my favorite treat.”

Twain’s rise came in an era filled with megawatt female country stars — including Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, and Reba McEntire — but this star had something different from the rest. As country artist Caitlin Rose told Rolling Stone, “Reba’s brand was ‘somebody should leave,’ Trisha’s was a little ‘please don’t leave’ and Faith had ‘no one would ever leave me, obviously,’ but Shania’s brand was ‘I will take no sh*t and all your money, thanks!’ and it worked. Nobody stepped on Shania, especially not the men in her songs.”

But then, just as suddenly as she hit the airwaves, Shania Twain was gone.

“I was ready for a break,” Twain says about her decision to take a step back in 2004. “I took the fatigue and the voice problem as a sign that it was time to rest, and I embraced going home to nest and be with my young son. I actually looked forward to it. But in that moment I didn’t know it would be years [until I was back].”

Eilleen Regina Edwards was born in Canada, in Windsor, Ontario, in 1965. The girl who would come to be known as Shania Twain (a name she constructed through a combination of her stepfather’s last name and the first name of a woman she worked with at a Canadian golf resort) grew up in poverty, in a house racked with domestic violence. “My mother’s face told the story of an abused woman,” Twain writes in her autobiography, From This Moment On. “She’d obviously been bruised so many times that her skin coloring was now permanently uneven.”

“I grew up with such determination about what I was going to do and be,” Twain tells me. “In watching my own mother and other women in my life, it was so important to observe what I didn’t want for myself in them. I was never going to let a man ever beat me. I was never going to starve. Ever. This was a fierce commitment that I made to myself.”

What Twain did have from a very young age was a love of music and a beautiful singing voice. Beginning at 8, Shania was writing her own music and lyrics, seeking refuge in her songs. Her mother saw the spark of her talent and began bringing her daughter to perform at local nursing homes, house parties, and bars — eventually this led to performances at local festivals and TV stations. The rare video footage available from those years shows something that still jumps off the screen close to 40 years later — talent.

“I think [my mother] thought that one day I would be Olivia Newton-John or Karen Carpenter or Dolly Parton,” Twain says. “I think she really believed that, and that’s what she perceived as making it. ‘One day my daughter is going to make it.’ And that’s what she meant.”

Twain’s mother was killed before she made it, but make it she did. The woman who spent her late teens working shifts at McDonald’s and leading all-male reforestation crews in northern Ontario, not to mention raising her orphaned younger siblings, grew up to be a country music icon whose influence can be felt from Lindi Ortega to Taylor Swift.

Twain’s first album, Shania Twain, put her on the larger map, but it didn’t make her a star. It also introduced her to producer Mutt Lange, who worked with artists like Def Leppard and Michael Bolton and would eventually be Twain’s husband. As music legend has it, Lange became enamored with Twain after seeing her “What Made You Say That” video, got in touch, and the two began a music relationship.

Their professional bond quickly became romantic, and in 1993 they married and and went on to have a son they named Eja. The pair created a global life for themselves, largely split between out-of-the-limelight locations at their homes in New Zealand and Switzerland. Together they made three albums and a family. They also wrote some of Shania’s most famous songs, among them, “You’re Still the One,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” “From This Moment On,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” the list goes on.

“Mutt really helped me focus [style and genre],” Twain says. “Otherwise, I’d write poetry and my songs would be 10 minutes long.” She reflects on how he helped her find her place musically and her voice as a songwriter. “When I listen to a song like ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’ — it in my sense of humor and my attitude and that fierce female attitude and that fierce female attitude and the challenge of not being snarky or negative. I never wanted to be negative; I always wanted to be positive but get my point across.”

It all fell apart — the collaboration and the musical bond — in 2008 when Twain found out her husband was having an affair with her best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud. In her memoir, Twain calls the discovery of their affair “the most painful shock of my life since my parents’ death twenty years earlier.” And years later, in a story too strange to be fiction, Shania would marry Frederic Thiebaud, Marie-Anne’s ex-husband.

The importance of Shania writing her new album Now on her own comes into perspective when one remembers that all of her proceeding hits were co-written and produced by Lange. “I was really afraid to work without him; I had worked with him for so many years,” Shania says about making Now. “All of those hits — three diamond albums in a row — it was a duo collaboration the whole way. So it was really scary to just all of a sudden be doing this, I didn’t know where to start.” She adds: “But once I made the decision to make a new record, period, I pushed myself even further. Not only did I not want to do it with him, I needed to do it alone.

“I did the majority of the songwriting in my beach house in Nassau, Bahamas,” she tells me of the process. “It’s somewhere where I’m tranquil. I need to look out at nature, and I could look out and watch the water. I like the isolation of being undistracted. I have to be isolated, and I have to have privacy.” It’s a practice of isolation and artistry that she’s stuck to since the beginning of her career when she wrote many of her early country songs alone in a northern Canada cabin — no plumbing, no electricity — that she had built with an ex-boyfriend.

This penchant for seclusion may seem counterintuitive for someone as world famous as Twain, but look back at her first album cover — pre-Mutt Lange, pre-fame, pre-everything — and it becomes clear that isolation might be where she feels most at home. That cover, Shania Twain, features the then unknown singer alone at night on a snowy landscape, standing in front of a fire, a wolf by her side. “I’m independent to a fault,” Twain sings on Now, and the message seems to come full circle.

Many of the songs that wound up on Now were written during the period in which Shania was grieving not just the loss of her voice but also the dissolution of her marriage. She wrote without knowing exactly what would become of the music — thinking that even if she could never sing again, perhaps she could sell her songs to other artists. “I tried to say that I was stronger than the grief and just accept that singing was never going to be my career anymore,” Twain says. “I wasn’t going to be a performing vocalist anymore, but I could still write songs. I wasn’t giving up on being an artist, but I would have been only a writing artist. I carried on writing all through it.

“My husband convinced me that I needed to [not sell] those songs and keep them for a future album I was going to record,” Shania says. “I kept saying ‘I’m not going to record again,’ and he said ‘just wait — you never know, you never know, you never know.’ It was hard for me to get the courage to give the songs away so I held out.”

Simultaneously Shania revisited her struggles with her voice, “The first step was determining why I lost my power and control,” she says. “It wasn’t like I lost my voice completely, but I lost my power and control and there’s no way you can be a singer without those two things.” After years of research she found a voice coach who recommended her to see a neurological specialist, an atypical pathway for dealing with a vocal issue. “It was a very long path of vocal physio therapy and a lot of hard work, and a lot of mental work as well,” she says. But slowly, she started to regain control and power of her voice.

“I think the song ‘Where Do You Think You’re Going’ was the song that was really encouraging me to work,” Shania says about the first new song she’d written that she felt in control of again. “I was starting to get some success from the therapy. It snowballed in a positive way after that. ‘Where Do You Think You’re Going’ is very demanding vocals for somebody who had to rehabilitate their voice, and so I was encouraged. I was still in my therapy when I wrote that song, and I would say that song is the one that made me believe I could still use my voice in a way that was satisfying.” The song is on Now.

“I do [sound different to myself],” Shania says of her voice then vs. today. “There are things that I just can’t [sing] the same way. It’s a little bit like running with a limp. It doesn’t mean you can’t run and you can’t run well; it’s just running differently now. I place my voice differently; I take my falsetto in a different place. It’s technically different. You might not know it, but I know it.”

When Now was announced, the immediate public assumption was that Twain’s long-awaited new work would be somewhere between a divorce album and a comeback album. She had tried various avenues of reentering the spotlight after the long hiatus — a show on Oprah’s OWN channel, a Vegas residency, a world tour, her memoir, a cameo on Broad City — but unsurprisingly, none felt as true to Twain as Now.

The songs on Now are more somber than ’90s Shania, more muted, less anthemic — but a heartbreak album this is not.

“This is an album about a transition from a difficult time until now,” she says. “I’ve come a long way from what would have been a divorce album had I written the album and made the album then. This is the other side of the journey. This is the upside of that journey and that transition, and through the writing I was able to reflect on other episodes in my life that were so much more devastating — like, wow, your divorce was bad, but it was nothing compared to losing my parents or even losing my voice, that kept me in a grief mode for years.”

The album’s lyrics reveal clearly through lines to the heartbreak of her personal life, “You let me go, you had to have her/ You told me slow, I died faster/ Than I could know love would ever kill.” But there remains that signature optimism that her lifelong fans will recognize, “Life’s about joy, life’s about pain/ It’s all about forgiving and the will to walk away/ I’m ready to be loved, and the love the way I should/ Life’s about, life’s about to get good.”

“The process was very therapeutic. It was a self-help exercise in a lot of ways,” Twain says. “I called the album Now. It was almost like a light went on, and I was like, ‘Oh, OK. I’m ready now.’”

Thanks. I must have missed that. So she is doing MORE album interviews? Why??? She didn't even say anything to promote the tour.

Hey Tommy, I’ve been reading some of the Brazilian fan pages of Shania, and there are a few rumors of a new single off NOW being released before the tour starts. Many of them are saying the single will be “Home Now” and is to be the final single for the album. Do you think these are just rumors the fans are making up, or is this just hearsay?

Considering the tour starts in 3 weeks and there has been no mention at all of another single being released, I think it's hearsay. I'd be shocked if there's another single from NOW. There are not any songs that Country radio will play.

Ok, I was in the aisle of my local grocery store. Shania was on the cover with a blue background. She had on blue jeans and a turquoise-ish button down with a with blue striped oxford underneath. It might of said "Home Health" something along the lines of that. I'll probably go back and find out but I had to type this out. I had to get this off my mind lol

I don't know what to say but I know we had some engaging posts but you are possibly right on the money with this one. You might be thinking the same thing I am thinking. She has learned so much from being away for so long that she is right back where she has always been. So it's possible her 5th albums would be the best yet (without Shania Twain and The Greatest Hits) She probably knew about her problems and released the GH because she didn't know what the future looked liked but wanted to remain current at that time for her fans. But who is to say that a solid 5th attempt at this would explode and would make waves. Lets only hope. But I agree. "NEXT!"

it suddenly occurred to me that the acm awards are this sunday in las vegas and shania's in los angeles for tour rehearsals... maybe there's a chance she'll make an appearance? in the past she's made red carpet appearances without nominations or even a project to promote (see: 2005, 07, 08). it could mean another album / ticket sales boost following yesterday's media blitz.

I never expected Shania would sell anywhere as many CDs of NOW as say even the WIM, but it is sad to see only 221.000+ so far. Not much better than the original ST CD. On the bright side, she usually sells out venues on the road, so she will probably do well with sales there. I just feel bad because in my opinion, the songs on NOW are really good. She really mixed it up well. There is something for everyone on NOW. But again, Mercury is part of the conglomerate she deals with, and once again the CD never got much promotion. I think it was in Target's flyer one weekend and that was it, no one else had it in my area anyway. Too bad.

Apparently Shania is releasing "Soldier" as a single.

Shania Twain visits Canadian Armed Forces base in B.C.

Canadian country icon thanks members of CFB Esquimalt for their service

By Kristyn Anthony | Victoria News | April 19, 2018

Canadian country icon Shania Twain paid a visit to CFB Esquimalt Thursday to thank members of the Canadian Armed Forces for their service and to promote her new single, “Soldier.”

The two-time Grammy Award-winner called the new song – featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming war drama, Thank You For Your Service – a “very emotional expression.” (Thank You For Your Service was released in October and "Soldier" is not on the soundtrack. The song was featured in a trailer preview that was shown inside movie theaters.)

“I wrote the song about the heartbreak of saying a sad goodbye to a loved one that is heading off, and with the feeling of never being certain they would ever return,” she told the crowd.

Twain arrived from downtown Victoria by zodiac boat to board the HMCS Ottawa where she toured the ship, and mingled with the crowd to sign autographs and pose for photos.

“Who’s not a Shania fan?” joked CFB Esquimalt base commander Capt. Jason Boyd, who was excited to meet the woman whose albums he remembers waiting in line for while he was in military college.

“It truly speaks to what kind of character she has and the support that she shows for what it is that we do, and the appreciation she shows,” he said of her visit to the base. “So we’re here today to show that appreciation back.”

With 100 million records sold worldwide, Shania Twain is the best-selling female Canadian artist in country music history, and one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

The Timmins, Ontario native released her fifth album Now in September 2017 and her tour of the same name kicks off next month, with two shows slated for Vancouver, May 5 and 6.

I want to hear something official from Shania or her label about releasing "Soldier" as a single and shooting a music video.

I don't think Country radio would play the song. Maybe Adult Contemporary?

No mention of "Soldier" being a single here.

‘Man, I feel like a sailor’: Shania Twain pays visit to HMCS Ottawa at CFB Esquimalt

By Richard Watts | Times Colonist | April 19, 2018

Canadian country-music superstar Shania Twain emerged on the helicopter deck of HMCS Ottawa at CFB Esquimalt Thursday to thank members of the Canadian Armed Forces for their service and sacrifice.

The appearance before 150 men and women from the Canadian Forces and guests from New Zealand highlighted her song, Soldier, from her latest album, Now.

The song’s lyrics are the reassuring words of a soldier’s loved one. “You’re not alone when you dream, I’m with you. I hear your heart when it beats, I feel it too.”

“I shed a lot of tears during the writing of this song,” Twain told her audience. “It made me very emotional to think about those who are out there braving loneliness and feeling very far away.”

“I do hope you all take it literally,” she said, sounding a little overcome at times. “Not that it should make you sad but I hope it inspires you to know you are loved and appreciated.”

Tommy, if this is true and Soldier is a single, I think it would be a mistake given the time of the year the single would be released. This song is to slow for the summer months. She should've released this as a single in this past winter, or she'll need to wait until the cold months come again. If there's any hope of any singles being released, she either needs to rerelease "SWMEC" and actually properly promote it, or she needs to release Home Now as a single. She actually has only officially released two single off NOW according to her labels site. Both "LATGG" and "SWMEC" are the two they list.
