INTRESTING NEW ARTICLE.....NASHVILLE WORRIED ABOUT SHANIA'S AGE

If you google.....GOOGLE NEWS....Shania Twain.....You will see the headline..Carrie Underwood not living up to potential as far as carrying the countryindustry on her back like they had hoped...The really intresting part though is the article then refers to....with Shania "43" who will carry the industry.. Needless to say I will have an opinion on this in my normal place..Bobby boy

I know that Nashville places a lot of their faith in Carrie (they inducted her into the Oprey this year),but she cannot be compared to Shania in any way. Shania has a real star presence on stage. That is something you are born with you either have it or you don't. I think the one to watch is Taylor Swift. She has real charisma and she writes her own songs. She is really young (18) and right now sings about boys. When she is older she will write songs about life....it will be interesting to watch her evolve. If she can make the transition from teen star to adult star she will be the one to watch.

Why is age such an issue? If an artist is good enough to write and record great songs and still maintain a stage presence, then surely that's what counts. Nashville has always been hostile towards Shania because she's an outsider, who likes to do things her way. I bet they're hoping for her next album to be a flop, but as we know she usually comes out on top, to rub it in their faces.

Age has nothing to do with singing ability - look at Reba, George Strait, etc... Their voices are as good as ever. On another note, Shania hasn't been inducted in the Grand Ole Opry has she?

Nope, and she hasn't made herself available for the Opry.  There is a certain schedule one must keep.  Reasons why George Strait, Toby Keith, and such also do not go for the Opry and are not inducted.

I know entertainment can be hard on people once they reach 40, they begin to play your music less on radio, start looking towards the youth and new acts and it is especially difficult for women.  I hate that aspect of the business, but as long as you have your fans, the rest can take a hike.  Shania will still have good sales and concert attendance and I think she is a big enough act, her stage presence will still be welcomed.  She could easily have another hit TV network special.  Plus for the record, Shania looks and acts amazingly for a woman over 40, health is a big gain and she can still do it better than those half her age.

Shania has had an open offer to appear on the Opry for over a decade but Shania chooses not to play on the Opry.
Shania was too busy touring the world.
I can't blame her either, the Opry is just not that important to her.

Shania's never done Vegas either, but as she's said, she likes moving around and has an international career that takes her all over the world.

I think she did a Walgreen's sale meeting there once upon a time but of course she would not get into the Wayne Newton or Celine mode.

I'm not sure why Shania's age should be an issue, at 43 she still has universal appeal and looks younger than what she is. People like Madonna and Prince are 50, and are still putting out huge numbers on albums.

She has built her career around a sexy image and she has used her looks a lot to gain success. She has never been afraid to use her body to get ahead. So her age is going to affect her more than some other artists who did not rely on their looks. Yes, she still looks good, but she looks older and when it comes time to tour and film videos, she will be 45 or so and that will hurt her.
