IUC Exclusive (Part I of 3): Shania Twain catches producer hubby having an affair with couple's personal secretary

For what it helps to explain, it's important to explain some sort of partial suffocation during the final months of Shania Twain's marriage to Robert John Mutt Lange. Shania may have tried too vigorously to save her turbulent marriage until she caught Mutt underneath the sheets with his secretary Marie Ann Thiebaud. Shania, in shock, stepped outside in a panic for fresh air. Time passed, enough for her to realize she had entered the spoke of murder -her 14-year marriage was over.
Earlier evidence on the shaping of Langes character can be found in the divorce papers of his first marriage to singer Stevie Vann, who accused Lange of infidelity and mental abuse.
"Growing up Shania was no angel herself," said a friend who grew up with Shania in Timmons, Ontario. "She slept around with lots of guys, just like any other hot, young girl there cause theres not much else to do. Its a small town. When Mutt came into her life red flags went up. He seemed too mysterious, too quiet. Something felt wrong. Shania is so outgoing, loves to party and have a good time. At her wedding Mutt insisted they drink non alcoholic champagne. Thats not the style of the Shania I knew growing up. If it was up to her they would have been sipping Black Label and jagermeister."
Another close friend of the couple told IUC after Shania left Mutt the singer sunk into a deep emotional abyss. "I had never seen her look so sad," the friend said. "Shania was heartbroken. She looked as though she had been run over by a train. I wondered if she would ever get over it. It was so sad."

I'm�confused by some of the details here. First things first, People magazine said that Shania didn't know about Mutt's affair and who they suspected the�other woman was after a friend tipped her off, since he wouldn't give her a reason for wanting out of their marriage. This refers to the statement where it says she caught him under the sheets with�the secretary.

And what sort of friend goes round telling the media that Shania slept around with a lot of guys in her younger days, surely that sort of thing is private and it makes her sound as if she's a 'slapper' (British slang term)..................

As for the alcohol part, I understand she did go through a phase after her parents died when she went out�partying, but Shania has said in several interviews that she never experimented much with drink, although she was always exposed to it in the clubs where she performed. She also said she never took drugs (even if she rolled them for other people)�because she was so high on her music.

I totally agree with you 'twain2country'! Im currently reading the Shania Twain Biography by Robin Eggar for the second time this year.

From the book, I get the perspective that Shania did not sleep around. She only slept with the guys she was in a relationship with. She did go through a period of drinking once her parents died but that did calm down and she only drank to be social. And thats exactly right... What kind of friend would make comments like that!?

However, I would be interested to see how part 2 and 3 go of this story... haha.

well you know you date someone for a couple weeks you sleep together than time goes on and things don't work out you move on, i think thats just dating,to me sleeping around is more like 1 night stands and jumping in to bed on the first date

Exactly,
and this 'friend" says that she was sleeping around because it was a small town with not much� to do,yeah right,she had a job and she was in a band too,i call this really busy smile

actually we have to admit that we did sleep around in Canada.
we slept in 3 different hotels,and of course in the cabin too,wow 5 different beds because we went twice at Deerhurt,we are loose biggrin

Well, I stand by the story in People magazine. They have a reputation of being reliable. This so called story now being written up is sounding like a group trying to cash in on Shania's misery. The so called sleeping around does not fit with the Shania we know but lets face it ....it does sell the story does'nt it.

Well said Lulu and can I just add that Shania doesn't consider herself to be a sexual person and having read an old article from Tommy's archive, Shania said that she never had much interest in sex before she meet Mutt and remember she had�insecurities about her body growing up.

I wanted to put up the red flag on this Ian guy, I did my own personal investigation on him.....

His blog was registered using a yahoo server, The domain is registered for 1 year starting 7/19/2008 to 7/19/2009.....

His REAL NAME is Sean Obrian

He lives in EmeryVille California

I tried to find some type of tax records on him, but I could not, He has a P.O box registered to his name in EmeryVille. So that means he probably has an apartment or he is hiding his real address.

I find it funny how he didn't approve of my comment on that first story.....So i commented again using his real name........His whole blog is fixed. Cause the comments on his site do nothing but agree with his article.........

jpalmer has a very unhealthy obsession with Shania's image.� Any time Shania is mentioned as having done something of an "adult" nature, he comes up with ridiculous theories as to how the media is trying to make her look bad, when they're really doing nothing of the sort.� When it was reported that Shania was seen buying wine at a liquor store, jpalmer swore that this couldn't be true and that the media HAD TO BE LYING...until the photos came out actually showing Shania at a liquor store and carrying a case of wine in her arms. biggrin

� He then claimed that the box that was clearly labled "red wine" had no wine inside of it, and that anything could be in the box.� biggrin

� He also swears that Shania was never buying lingerie, and he said that she only sleeps in pajamas.� As if he would know!� biggrin

jpalmer's latest theory is that even though Shania was seen dancing at the CMA afterparty, she wasn't dancing, because...well, I don't know why.� Shania isn't allowed to dance in jpalmer's world, I guess.

Ian Halperin's report could be totally bogus.� Or, it could be all true. Most likely, the real truth is somewhere in between.� But too many Shania fans, like jpalmer, are ridiculously close-minded when it comes to Shania and her life.� If something even halfway controversial is reported on Shania, it MUST be false in their minds.� They have Shania so far up on an impossible pedistal that they completely forget that she's adult who can do whatever the heck she wants to with her life.� And she doesn't need the approval of the jpalmer's of the world to do so.

That Halperin guy may be a weirdo, but Shania has plenty of fans who are just as weird.�� Digging into a blogger's tax records simply because you don't like what he wrote about the unfalible goddess Shania?� That's just plain demented.

jpalmer also fails to realize that anyone can register a domain.� And that Ian Halperin has a blog entry thanking various people for helping him set up his blog...various people including Sean O'Brien. biggrin

Halperin's investigative skills could, and should, be questioned.� But so should jpalmer's, because everything he posts proves that he really doesn't have a clue.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I am saying that it's very clear that nobody here knows the complete truth about Shania's sex life.� Then, or now.

i have to agree with not knowing about shania's sex life but im willing to bet it was like most other beautiful woman's,she had her share of guys asking her out.The story is going to be and interesting read,i don't know if im going to believe it kind of weird, all this time and not one story on the split shania does the CMA's and a couple of days later he has a story?sounds like he's just trying to cash in on the� interest in shania after the awards show

Having sex is not a bad thing,and if it's with someone you love it's one of the best things in life But if you do it while you are under the influence of drugs or do it with a different person every few days it's a very bad thing by me.
and i don't think shania has done either of that,i have no problem if she had a few boyfriends,those who have read Robbin Eggar's bio know that she did have a few guys in her life smile

i don't know how many boyfriends she had but when your in your teens early 20's people tend to date a lot, i guess you could consider it sleeping around.I always felt that you date to find the right person and to do that you have to date a bunch of different people. As far as being easy i wouldn't consider those women to be easy.

The Eggar biography seems to be very reliable.� He paints a fair picture of Shania.� Fair and Balanced, as they say.� He doesn't portray her as an angel, but he doesn't portray her as a bad person, either.� She's a person with good and bad qualities, strengths and faults, ups and downs.�

The Halperin quote about Shania "sleeping around" is probably exaggerated.� But she did start to have sex as a teen, and she enjoyed it.� That's confirmed from Shania herself.� So she probably didn't suddenly stop, after she started, if she enjoyed it.� smile

She had boyfriends who she most likely slept with.� The guy from Longshot, John Kim Bell, Mark Taylor, Paul Bolduc.� There were supposed incidents at Deerhurst which may or may not be true.� And she did drink and go out to bars for awhile to ease her pain, and it's very likely that she hooked up with a guy or two during that time.� I don't really consider all of that to be "sleeping around", but some may disagree.� It seems fairly normal, in the context of who Eilleen was and what her life was like at the time.�

Now that she is single people it seems like some author wants to spread garbage about Shania. No, Shania is far to serious minded a person to run around having one night stands.

I'm not implying anything. I'm repeating what Robin Eggar said. Robin stands by his sources, he has done more research into Shania's past than any of us has, so I consider him and his opinion to be more reliable than the opinions of most.

I don't know why some fans get so defensive of Shania's past when she was younger.
By all accounts she was very outgoing and went out alot.
She also did drink often when she went out and she had a few boyfriends.
The person just worded it differently and said sleeping around.Also, Shania hereself said she used to roll joints for her friends when they went out.
it is no secrete Shania was much,much different when she was younger than when she met up with hermit cheating Mutt lange.
So what if she liked to party, almost everyone did in small towns when you were a teenager or 20.
She was totally different back then and I expect her to let loose now too that she is free from that weirdo. She won't sleep around but she will be more outgoing and we will see her alot more.She needs to prove she can be just as successful without Mutt and be even more happy.
I have been going back and forth whether I believe Mutt cheated.Now in my opinion he did for sure cheat and Shania was hurt by it for awhile but she is moving on like any woman who has been cheated on.I don't know how in love or how close they were when he cheated but I believe he did.
And fans, lets also remember, Shania is no angel and not always such a delight to be around. We don't know how she is behind doors. In public she displays grace and beauty.
I am just trying to say.One side is not totally wrong and one side isn't totally right.

Wow kevy i agree!I was a party boy 20 years ago when i was in my early 20's,smoked pot snored coke drank to much and dated a whole lot.Thats just the way it is for alot of people in there late teens and early 20's,than you grow up.Im sure Shania slept with her share of guys but around here using the 1 to 10 scale of rating a woman's looks, women like Shania that are 9's and 10's where usually picky about who they slept with,they weren't the ones doing one nite stands and having sex on the first date, you had to wine and dine those women.Im sure most of us have things we regret from are younger days.As far as the divorce goes its been about 6 months now so she should be getting over it although i believe Dec is their anniversary and their first x-mas apart so it could be a tough month

In the Redbook interview, she talked about starting yoga, remember some sources suggested they separated last year, even if it wasn't officially announced until May this year.

When you've been with someone for as long as she was with Mutt, it must�have been�hard for Shania�to get back�into any routine�whilst�dealing with all her emotions and the feeling of rejection, because Mutt had fallen for another woman and the fact it was her best friend who had betrayed her.�

Shania was devasted, she had no idea that this was coming. I was so glad to see her at the CMA's, she is obviously working thru the loss of her marriage and I hope it is true that she is working on a new cd. I think I would have been more believing of this had she given an interview...something she is clearly not comfortable with yet. I can't see her ever saying something bad about Mutt though, he is Eja's father and I think she will respect that.

Oh please, you are� not going to start this again. Give it a rest, it has been over 8 months or even longer since she was seperated.
She didn't give an interview because the CMA was keeping her under raps, it was to be a surprise, duh!!!
She arrived early at the red carpet and�sneaked by the press�and stayed in her dressing room till area till she presented.
I would think it is obvious to all that the reason she gave no interview is because then the whole audience a home�would know she was the surprise.
The cmt�CMA interviewers were even in on it because they never mentioned her before the show because they knew it was a surprise.

And just the fact her friends say they will be seeing alot of her in the coming months in Nashville should tell you alot.
You were wrong Lulu, Shania is not as devestated as you would like her to be 8 months later.

If it was true, that was Shania 20 years ago. It would be pointless to even put importance in something that ocurred that long ago. It's called people make mistakes, even more when you're young. I think that 20 years is enough to mature someone quite a bit.
