Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley and Randy Travis were all on hand in Washington, D.C. on Sunday to pay musical tribute to one of this year's Kennedy Center Honorees, George Jones. Each year, artists are honored by the center for their lifetime achievement in the arts with a televised gala and a black-tie party at the U.S. State Department. Other Kennedy Center honorees this year include Barbra Streisand, Morgan Freeman, choreographer Twyla Tharp and The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey. George told the Nashville Tennessean about some of the legendary entertainers he was able to meet for the first time at the event. "We met Aretha Franklin, and she's real nice," George tells the paper. "And Barbra Streisand, she's just right down to earth...I'm very suprised so many of them are familiar with my work." The 2008 Kennedy Center Honors event will air on CBS on December 30.
