Venters have their own ideas about the future of The Mac
After many years of tax increases, reduce them this year. Cancel the new social services and ambulance building, the water line to "winding woods," the proposed museum, Shania Twain Centre, vehicle purchases, etc.

Is it time we cleaned house at city hall? After the so-called leadership demonstrated by some councillors, it is clearly evident some of the "old boys" have to go.
* * *
Every time you read about a politician in Sudbury, there's always big money going toward something. Every time you see a politician in Timmins, they're angry at someone or supporting something that doesn't bring money or opportunity to this riding.

Bench weaker players for most of any game and he/she will love it. Develop good skills, confidence, teamwork, etc. Some must-win coaches employ this devastating practice. You don't deserve to coach, even as a volunteer.
* * *
Nobody on the McIntyre committee plays hockey, otherwise they would know the player benches are not located properly. One player bench is at centre ice while the other player bench is inside a zone. This problem must be fixed.

Where are all the young lads to help elderly men and women clear snow from their walkway and snowbanks? They could make a few dollars for themselves and help those in need.

I think it would be a great idea to hear soft music played through the Golden Manor for the elderly. I'm sure they would enjoy it. Even rock, as I'm sure they can all relate and music makes one feel good.

What does the Sudbury man who avoids incarceration even after being convicted five times for impaired driving have to do, judges, kill someone while impaired? Good chance that will happen. Sentence criminals more severely. Save innocent lives.
* * *
The McIntyre committee presented council with some good ideas. However, should council decide against them, convert the arena into the Shania Twain Centre and Timmins Museum. The headframe area becomes the Gold Mine Tour. Cheap and centrally visible.

Hydro wants us to save by not using during peak times and there's their employee using a truck to read metres. I mean driving into every yard in south end to read them. What happened to walking and parking the gas guzzler?

If the Mac was designed after Maple Leaf Gardens, shouldn't it also go the way of MLG? This "depression era" building is outdated and a huge financial burden. Former councillor Kevin Vincent had the right idea, build a new up-to- date, energy-efficient facility.

I don't understand what's wrong with the cinema. Half of the letters aren't working, posters aren't in the cases, they don't have the times on the board outside or in the paper. Close it down and build a Famous Players already.

Jack Layton talks about Michael Ignatieff missing a chance to show true leadership. What about Layton getting so angry about the death of the coalition when he could have focused on what changes he helped make happen in the budget? Leadership?
* * *
The federal NDP is running attack ads now against Ignatieff, like the Conservatives did to Dion. Fat chance the NDP will get another shot at a coalition now that they're throwing a temper tantrum.

Excellent presentation by the McIntyre ad hoc committee. To Coun. Saudino, re: Comments or thoughts, think about the Shania Twain Centre. Close it down and put the money towards arenas.
