2009 Swiss Red Cross Gala

An Event Highlight

Every year in the early summer international guests from the worlds of business, culture, politics and society come together for a unique event held in French-speaking Switzerland the Swiss Red Cross Charity Ball. This years edition will take place on Saturday, June 6th 2009 in Morges. Come and discover 2009's "Magic of Africa."

But it's not all about having fun: the proceeds of the event are used to finance relief projects in our Victims of Forgotten Disasters Campaign.

2009 Swiss Red Cross Gala - Will Shania Attend?

I think she will attend just as she's done in the past up until 2007, but I doubt Frederic will be present as there are bound to be media people & photographers on hand.

This would only draw attention, so I'm thinking, no. Besides Frederic may be a very private person and media shy. I'm sure the press will be given some acess to Shania and it'll be nice to see new photos of her.

I think she will attend alone even if she is still with Fred.....mainly because, if she attends with him, all the attention will be about the fact that she attended with him and it will take away from the actual gala purpose.....although I could be wrong......just my thoughts

I agree that it would be nice to see her out with a date. I mean, she is a beautiful women and many, many men would love to be seen with her. I just think that she will come back out solitary to make a point, and then we may see her with Fred, or someone else. Then again I could be very wrong........time will tell.

Since she isn't performing I guess as honorary president one of her responsibilities is to close the gala in some way, maybe saying a few words.

No, the picture is from 2008 as it says under the picture. They won't have any pictures of this gala until maybe late Sunday or Monday I think.
I remember when she attended in 2007 and we didn't get the articles from the event till a day and a half later and the pictures even later.
But this time they may have articles and pictures from the event sooner.

When she attended in 2007, and the Gala was in June 9th, the first articles came in on June 11th, 2 days after the event on a Monday.
So we should get the first articles on Late Sunday here and Maybe a video clip from the news.
Picture of the event will come much later I think if memory serves me correct.

Thanks for the link to 24heures

Shania looks a bit tan - I guess from Egypt.

She sometimes suffers from puffy eyes - maybe from lack of sleep and dehydration - maybe from travel. That is what happens when you're a jet-setter.

The dress and jewels seem to be couture - can't wait for more photos - Fred or not.

This is picture is Shania with the same guy she always gets photographed with at this event. I think he is the swiss redcross president or something or connected to committee of the event.

As for her new boyfriend, Frederick, maybe he is not in this picture but came with her as a escort. We don't know until we see all the pictures.

Will be nice to see a full picture.  One that is a head to foot shot.  Would like to see how the outfit looks below the waist.  Also would like to see her hands.  To see if there might be a ring and on which finger.  Just curious about that kind of stuff.
Will be interesting to see other pictures.  Wonder though if they would print pictures of who she was with.  I mean maybe if she requested that they not post who escorted her I bet they would do that.
Warmest regards as always,
Tonto

Shania Twain, the singer to millions of albums sold, came in close together, like every year, the lawyer Stéphane Lagonico Lausanne, Executive Committee Member of the Swiss Red Cross.

ELIZABETH ECKERT | 08.06.2009 | 00:01

This is not quite a year of records. But we expected. However, the eighth edition of the Bal de la Croix-Rouge suisse, which meets the beautiful people of the Lake Geneva and was this year devoted to Africa and Swaziland in particular, has done a very good result.

Les Halles CFF Morges, 650 people - women dress ball, men smoking - were on Saturday evening, hosted by the tam-tam and dance. Vice-President of the Swiss Red Cross, the magnificent Sénégalaise Absa Kane is particularly proud. "For my first year of involvement in this cause, she says, it's very touching that the theme of the evening was devoted to my continent."

For good cause
And while guests stroll, a glass of champagne in hand, the kitchen brigade of the Beau-Rivage, led by Chef Dominique Gauthier, works in a hall, where the reconstructed palace cuisine restaurant with input, two dishes and dessert.

Later people, besieged by photographers, Canadian singer Shania Twain, a resident of La Tour-de-Peilz, won all votes. Dressed by the two creators genevois David Arasa and Claudio Morelli, the star every year to the ball, "for good cause."

Balance Sheet: More than 600 000 francs collected, including 410 000 obtained through the auction conducted by Simon de Pury. And, even in long robes, the women finished the evening with DJ Double XL, compared to its body, which celebrated the 60 and 70 years of Motown.
