Laurentian University president Dominic Giroux will host information sessions in Timmins this coming week for students who have applied to Laurentian University, and their parents. Along with other colleagues, he will be on hand to answer questions about admissions, financial aid, residence and student life, athletics, orientation and placement opportunities, among others. In addition, there will be a draw for a $2,000 scholarship among Laurentian applicants in attendance.

Members of the media are welcome to attend the information sessions. This is a great opportunity to meet potential students, staff, alumni, and the new president of Laurentian University, who officially started his first term on April 1, 2009:

The meet and greet session will be held Tuesday May 5 at the Shania Twain Centre at 6:00 p.m. (English session) and 7:00 p.m. (French session).

In a news releases, Laurentian University defines itself as Canada's only bilingual and tricultural university. It is situated on the beautiful shores of Lake Ramsey in Sudbury. It is northern Ontario's largest postsecondary institution, serving close to 9,000 students, including over 800 graduate and international students. Since 2000, Laurentian University's enrolment has increased 50%, making it the university with the fourth fastest growth in the province.
