Eminem'sRelapse enters The Billboard 200 at #1 with sales of 608,000. That's the heftiest weekly tally since AC/DC'sBlack Ice opened with sales of 784,000 in October. It's the fattest total for a rap album since LilWayne'sTha Carter III bowed with 1,006,000 in June. Relapse got off to a faster start than Eminem's 2005 greatest hits album, Curtain Call: The Hits, which started with sales of 441,000. But it fell short of his last studio album, Encore, which bowed with sales of 711,000 in 2004. This is the rap icon and provocateur's fifth consecutive #1 album; his sixth in a row to reach the top two. Nearly 119,000 copies of Relapse were sold digitally. That's the second biggest total of the year, after U2'sNo Line On The Horizon, which sold 155,000 digital copies in its first week in March. (It's the biggest tally for a rap album since Kanye West'sGraduation bowed with sales of 133,000 digital copies in 2007.) Relapse also debuts at #1 this week in the U.K. It's Eminem's fifth straight #1 album in the U.K.
Eminem has sold 33,951,000 albums since the start of his career in 1999. This puts him at #10 on Nielsen/SoundScan's running list of artists who have sold the most albums in its history (which dates to 1991). Eminem just this week surges ahead of Shania Twain, U2 andKenny G on this list.
Eminem has sold 31,127,000 albums since January 2000, which lengthens his lead as the artist who has sold the most albums in this decade. On Friday, I'll have a Chart Watch Extra in which I look at the 20 acts that have sold the most albums since January 2000. You'll be surprised by some of the artists who made the list--and some of the artists who didn't. Neither of the top two album-sellers from the 1990s, Garth BrooksandMariah Carey, rank among the top 20 album-sellers for this decade. Meanwhile the act at #2 since January 2000 is a big surprise. (At least it was to me.) Circle back on Friday and find out where you favorites rank.
Eminem is an amazing artist. People past a certain age tend not to "get" him or his music. But just like we don't want people dissing Shania and people saying why she has sold so much, respect should also be given to other artists.

I do like a couple of Eminem songs and he does have a couple of video's that are a riot.I wasn't knocking Kenny G, i just didn't think he was that big a seller.

I know ;) I was not referring to your post.

It annoys me when people get upset about people not respecting Shania and the right of her fans to love her and her music, yet show no respect for other fans of other artists and say that they have no taste for liking them. It is a pot calling the kettle black type of situation.
Â
We, as Shania fans, would not want to hear that we have bad taste from a person who does not like her music. The same should be applied for other artists and their fans.
Â
Nobody should knock the tastes of other people. It is just rude.

I agree everybody has their own tastes.Did you see the stunt they pulled on Eminem at that award show the other night.
I heard the same thing last night, and that they even rehearsed it.But that came from the producers of the show, according to the show i watched Eminem had not commented.
The "stunt" was so funny! I really did not think that Eminem knew or planned it, but then I realized that he knew and if you think about it, it makes sense that it was planned.

His new CD is amazing! He is so talented!
I heard some of his songs and I don't think they are good this time around. He needs stunts to get more attention for his cd. I guess we all have our opinion on who is talented and who is not. I think Eminem is overrated in my opinion.

It was funny,But when you think about it he could have gotten up and move has he was coming down. But i didn't think Eminem had that kind of a sense of humor.A while back he got pissed about that comic dog I can't remember the dogs name but Eminem didn't like it.Who ever is the comic behind that puppet is a genuis, very funny every time i see him.
