Timmins Chamber of Commerce is taking on an exciting new summer project to showcase the best that Timmins has to offer.
The chamber is helping local businesses promote their products and services to the hundreds of tourists that visit the Tourism Information Centre each year, by introducing the first ever “summer fun pack.”
Summer fun packs will be given out to tourists and visitors at the Tourist Information Centre housed at the chamber during the week of Aug. 1-9.
The packs are made possible by the support of chamber members, who donated all of the items included in the package.
Ontario Power Generation generously donated the eco-friendly canvas shopping bags, which contain things like discount coupons for local hotels and shops, a map of the city and a local trail map, pens, pamphlets, pads of paper and a City of Timmins pin.
The week of Saturday, Aug. 1, to Sunday, Aug. 9, is forecast to be a popular one, with events such as the Heart of Gold Triathlon, Shania Twain Fan Convention, Rotary Ribfest and Mountjoy Farmer’s Market taking place.
There will be 500 packs available for distribution and there is no cost to get involved in this program. Interested businesses who have not yet participated may still do so by dropping of a donation of 500 promotional items at the chamber office (76 McIntyre Road, across from the McIntyre Arena).
