I'm not surprised at all that the surprise is not music related.

The video travelogue should be fun to watch, but I think the lack of new music will be disappointing to some fans.

What does Shania Twain want for her 44th birthday?

For fans to visit her official site, where the country singer announced that she'll be giving them "a small gift" on Aug. 28.

For the first time since her appearance at the Country Music Awards in November, Twain spoke publicly through a video on her site.

"Hi everyone, Shania here," Twain says in the video, which was filmed at her home in Switzerland with two of her dogs. "First to start off... thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes for [8-year-old son] Eja's birthday.

She adds: "Secondly, if you haven't already seen on my Web site, for August 28 on my birthday, I will be giving you a small gift of thanks for all of your support over the last year."

The star split from her husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange in May 2008 after he had an affair with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who also managed the couple's Swiss chateau. In June, Twain used her site to post a personal letter saying that she was "managing very well" and "experiencing and seeing new things every day, living life with a different and more optimistic attitude.

Her site currently includes a countdown until her birthday, which is nine days from now.

"You've been really wonderful. Thank you so much," she says before petting one of her dogs. "And Dolly thanks you, too. We'll see you soon!"

I think it will be interesting, it will give us a glimpse as to what this past year has been like for her and she will probably talk about putting song ideas together, after all people want to hear about how the music is slowly progressing.

I completely understand fans wanting to know what she has to say. And I don't mean to come across like I don't care what happens in her daily life; it should be interesting to see, but I just hope that she at least talks about new music; progress, some kind of a timeline....etc....I am a fan of her music first and foremost....and she does not put out any music anymore.....time is passing, she needs to put out new music.....

She has to have some idea of when a new CD would be released....it is a complicated process, so she has to have some idea. If she has no idea, then that is not a good thing at all.....She just cannot spring a new CD on her record company with no notice.

But we also know that she wasn't doing these things alone. She was doing them with Fred. Do you think she'll even mention Fred? Will she pretend like he doesn't exist?

Hello I wanna tell you fans that sources are telling us what the Shania Twain surprise will be. Well let me tell you do not believe what you see until the official Shania Twain web site opens in a week. We have been told by sources before that a new CD would be out and that never happened lol lets wait because Shania says a small suprise lets wait and see believe nothing.

You're right. I forgot that Fred was at the Gala too. I think it will be very strange if she doesn't mention him in some way.

I think she wanted to take advantage of the other beautiful scenery in the background and for us to see that she is happy and feels relaxed and comfortable and also I think she wanted us to see her dogs. She loves them a lot you can tell and I also don't think there was anyone operating the camera. Looks like the camera was on the ground and stationary. Does anyone know how we can save this video to our own computer or is that not allowed. I would like to download it onto my MP3 player.

I know Eja loves animals, so you can see why Shania admires her pet dogs.

Did she really admit to dating him? Where? When? I don't remember such a thing. There were lots and lots of articles but I don't remember her saying he is her boyfriend.

I never saw anything either that was a confirmation that they were dating. They may be dating or they may have been helping each other deal with the fallouts from their marriages. Either way it is their business as to who they see personally. Sure it may seem strange to many that they would get together but unless you walk in a person's shoes it is hard to really pass judgement.

I remember reading an article about this in a gossip magazine.....I don't remember which one it was. I don't take these magazines very seriously when it comes to the facts of a situation. They usually have some semblance of truth along with some speculation to add to the drama. Either way I don't judge them if they are a couple.

Could Dolly be a short haired or shaved Newfoundland. She used to have 2 one named Mocha and Choco I believe and she had Tim the German Shepherd and Sony is a German Shepherd. Can't see Dolly's face very well so it is hard to tell. Looks like she favors the same breeds and it does look like she loves them a lot.

I don't think she liked all the criticism of her and Fredric as a couple so she decided to protect that part of her life and not put it on display for everyone. Plus Fredric was at the gala. No pictures together becasue she did not want to take away from the purpose of the gala by drawing attention to her and who she was with. It was a charity event and she did not want the focus of all the media to be her and her love life. She knew this would upstage the gala and its cause and she wouldn't do that.
She hates criticism as does anyone and the media got a bit nasty with its take on their relationship so she took that out of the equation altogether and who can blame her. I don't think she will go to Chicago alone though. Who she will take I don't know. Maybe her sister or maybe Fredric. Just my thoughts.

I never saw any criticism of Shania actually the opposite,everything seemed to be pro Shania.Things like the perfect revenge and Shania gets even.I have to say i thought the tabloids would go after her for wife swapping and knowing some of those tabliods run with that story.I really don't think that if she and Fred had a photo taken that would have taken away focus of the charity event.

Yes I think you could be right. Looks like she has given her a summer haircut. I shave my shelties every summer. They kind of look like lions. I shave them from their collars down leaving a mane for them. Doesn't take long for the hair to grow back and they are easier to keep brushed and clean and they are cooler in the hot summer months.

Can we just skip to next Friday now?

She's coming back and this is the beginning. Then we do the American Idol thing. By the way,will she allowing people to sing her songs now?

The strategy is to start showing up one place after another. May a few talk shows, Oprah again? Magazine covers? Maybe even a new song or two by the Super Bowl and a return appearance there.

I'm getting a headache just thinking about all the possiblities.

Tara informed us what ET Canada had reported earlier this year, confirming their relationship status. However, other sources like People magazine, say they are just very good friends and she sees him more like a brother.

Most likely she'll have her management, publicists with her. However, she does like to have her sisters around to vaction with her if and when possible.

I find if very odd that after so many years of no contact with the fans she then has all this contact but no music in sight.
Could it be that she is keeing this contact now knowing she has lost so many fans and this little non music related things like American Idol guest and fake surprises gets buzz and keeps her name out there.

If Shania does not directly tell her fans and assure them of new music in 2010 for sure then we know this is all a game and ploy. There is no reason what so ever if she is even half hearted working on new music that she can't set a timeline and have it out by the end of 2010.
We will see how honest she is with her next letter.
but to make the assumption Shania is even trying to comeback or even trying to put out music simply because she is forced to interact more with her fans is not correct.
There is nothing to get excited about until Shania Twain directly tells her fans that new music is coming for sure in 2010 and there is no reason she can 't give that to her fans with her new letter.
That would be the only surprise that any fan really wants.
Who the heck cares about video or her spending money and travelling the world.How is that a surprise to her fans? She directly side steps the real issue of music and all us fans will be able to see very clear what her immediate intentions are by her next letter.

So Angie please don't say and speak for everyone when you say we will be pleasantly surprised.
All fans would be pleasantly surprised if she got off her butt and was actually in studio instead of playing games with her fans.

We already know this surpise has nothing to do with new music so how the heck can anyone be surprised?
Surprised she jumped out of a plane or that she has a new boyfriend? lol!!

Lets forget about the side show of what Shania is becoming and only be interested in music, end of story.
