New Shania album 'nowhere in sight'

Posted by The Daily Press

As Richard Sessions prepared to leave Timmins yesterday, he said more fans would have liked to have attended the annual Shania Twain Fan Convention.

However, the poor economy had discouraged many from making the trip, he said.

Sessions, who was among the 30 fans at this year's convention, said he's attended for the past seven years.

It's also been seven years since Twain has released an album.

Tracy Hautanen, manager of the Shania Twain Centre, acknowledged the singer's recent inactivity may have had

"We were hoping for more people (to attend the convention) but of course, the numbers are low for a few reasons and then this is a quieter time.

"So we know when things pick up with her, our numbers will pick up again."

Despite Internet rumours that were circulating earlier this year, it doesn't appear Twain will be releasing an album any time soon.

A spokesman for Twain's label says a new record from the singer is still "nowhere in sight."

The 43-year-old hasn't released an album of new material since 2002's Up!

And yet in an often fickle music industry where artists can be forgotten in the time it takes to download a new ring-tone, Twain's fans and peers are proving extraordinarily patient in waiting for new material from the singer.

Twain, apparently, appreciates it.

In a June 12 blog posting, Twain apologized to her fans for her delay in creating new music, writing: "I realize I'm not holding up very well on my end of the relationship!"

But Twain, who has always shunned the spotlight when it comes to her personal life, has kept an even lower profile since splitting from her husband and producer Mutt Lange.

In June, she wrote about the difficult time she's endured, and discussed trying to keep her emotions in check for the benefit of her young son.

And she also described a creatively fruitful period that followed the "personal crisis."

"Since then, I've been inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy through the suffering," Twain wrote. "I truly wouldn't wish this on anybody as a means to get inspired, but it's been a productive period with so much emotion trying to find its way out. "

"However, there is no telling how long it will take me to actually finish these songs and record them so they can get out to you."

Rumours swirled on the Internet earlier this year that Twain would, in fact, have a new album out in the spring, and then the fall.

But her label representative says there definitely will not be a new studio album from Twain out this year.

All I can say is that we Shania devotees are not interested in what Kevy has to say and/or what he thinks of us. This guy has a big a chip on his shoulder and If I were the moderator of this site, I would put a block on his account, to stop him from posting on this board forever more. If he has such a strong opinion that Shania isn't cut out to be a singer anymore and doesn't believe anything she tells us, why doesn't he just bog off, and stop wasting time offending others and dissing her name.

ARe you part of a cult?
Shania devotees? lol!!!
WE are all Shania fans and I don't have to follow like blind sheep.
I used to have respect for Shania and now I have little respect for her.
I love her music she made with Mutt and will say what I believe to be true nomatter what cult members like you say about me.
Block my account?
For what? Speaking my mind.
I have proven over the last 14 years to be a huge Shania fan . The last 2 years I have been down on Shania and that is my right. She has taken advantage of her fans for over half a decade and I gave her the benifit of the doubt the first few years she took advantage of her fans but now am speaking up.
If you don't like my opinion then don't address me and force me to respond.

What is really sad is some of the Shania fans act like cult members and if you don't fall into that cult than you should be banned or not be allowed to say anything if it is negative towards Shania.
Shania put herself out there long ago and made a fortune off her fans. I and every fan has every right to their opinion. And just because my opinion of hers is negative at this point doesn't mean I am not a fan of her  music or the music she made with Mutt Lange.

I guess possibly one of these sayings might apply.

I guess that would apply 100% to you too and fits you more.

Kevy at this point your opinion of Shania is well documented........if you don't have anything different to add to it then why bother repeating yourself over and over? In the end what are you accomplishing except emitting a lot of negative energy which is not good for anyone. Why not try focusing on an artist who does fit your expectations at the moment and forget about Shania.........you may just find yourself in a happier place.

I do focus good energy on voluteering for kids and community, coaching my hockey team, going to nightclubs and playing on baseball and hockey teams.
I don't think a few mintutes in a week posting about Shania Twain is really a big deal. It is more a big deal to those who hate me or my opinion.
And I say it often over the last couple years because that is my style in everything I do.
I am not going to change because someone doesn't like me or my opinion.

And for the record I don't talk about Shania to anyone else except on the few minutes a week on Shania sites. So just because I have negative things to say about her the last couple years doesn't mean it impacts my life in one bit.
That is my style. When I have a few mintues to vent on my opinion then I do it forcefully.
I am like that it life and that is my personality.
My friends love me for my honestly and good nature sarcasm lol!!!
I know I am so hated and despised by some here.
But once Shania actually has music out then you will not find a better defender and fan of hers than mine.

My point was that your negativity is constant and the tune never changes.....so why bother?  This is a fan site for Shania.  Sure, you are entitled to your opinion but do we have to hear the same thing over and over?  It is clear that there will be  no new music this year.....so why continue in a place where you are clearly not happy?

I really think it is fruitless to try and change anyone's opinion especially Kevy's. It never changes. So why bother there are more important things to talk about then him and his never changing opinion. I would rather listen to Shania's music and think about all the good things that are coming sooner than you people realize.

Warmest regards as always,
Tonto

So where does this journey take us now?

So she has given us this small gift of a letter and a video. That's nice, and we thank you for it.

But now what? Personally I think that she has a plan of slowly leaking out more and more things to us. Wishful thinking, yes.

It is beyond my comprehension that after all these years she has nothing packaged and ready to go. I understand the divorce aftermath. Been there, done that. But she is after all, a writer. She's written songs since she was little.

I still think that she and her handlers are putting a package together that will suddenly blow us away.

We have no choice. We have to wait. But absence makes the heart grow fonder. But in this case the fondness is traveling towards Taylor, and even Miley (The Climb), just to mention a few.no

Unless our fearless leader decides otherwise.

Miley?

She's ok. I like that "Climb" song for some reason.

She'll be better as she ages and gets away from the Hanna thing.

I have a 14 year old daughter, that's why I know this stuff.

Yes, but you have to admit this is more action then we have seen out of Shania in a long time.

I am starting to sense that her next album and tour could may well be the last. Shania said herself she doesn't plan on being a star forever and at least when her recording career finishes, she can go back to that normal life which she prefers, and seeing/doing more of the things she never got to do with Mutt. I hope she will continue singing for many more years to come and she has a lot of making up to do for her fans who've been so patient and loyal throughout, even before her difficult time in her marriage.
