Avril Lavigne is the latest celebrity to be recruited as a guest judge for the new season of American Idol, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The 'Girlfriend' singer is reportedly scheduled to appear at the callback audition episode in Los Angeles alongside previously confirmed guest judge Katy Perry.

Lavigne is the latest in a string of famous faces to be handed a guest panel position in the wake of Paula Abdul's departure.

Other stars linked to the judges' table include Victoria Beckham, Joe Jonas, Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, Shania Twain and Mary J. Blige.
