Top 100 Women on the Web of 2009 - Shania #58

Shania Twain -- Top 100 Women on the Web of 2009, Number 58

58. Shania Twain
Will Twain still be able to deliver the country crossover magic that has sold 75 million-plus now that she has separated from her husband, "Mutt" Lange, who co-wrote and produced all of her hit albums? Find out in a so-far-undetermined point in the future.

Recently, Asylum rated the top 100 hottest women on the Internet, based solely on how many times the babe-loving general public enters an attractive lady's name into AOL's search box. (Because we believe this simple metric is the best way to measure true heat.) We've decided to highlight some of our favorites from the countdown again.

Yo T

Not that I am questioning it, but where does the 75 million number come from?

The estimates were 65 million about five or six years ago, so I'd say 75 million is about right now.

Shania Twain, OC (pronounced /ʃəˈnaɪə ˈtweɪn/; August 28, 1965) is a Canadian country pop artist. Her third album Come on Over is the best-selling album of all time by a female musician and the best-selling album in the history of country music.[1] She is the only female musician to have three albums certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America and is also the second best-selling artist in Canada, behind fellow Canadian Céline Dion, with three of her studio albums being certified double diamond by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. Twain has achieved both critical and financial success, having received five Grammy awards, 27 BMI Songwriter awards,[2] and she has sold over 65 million albums worldwide to date,[3] including 48 million in the USA alone. She is ranked as the 10th best-selling artist of the Nielsen Soundscan era, with approximately 33,591,000 sales through April 5 2008, based on relatively few releases.[

No one knows what she is planning in the way of new music - all we can do is surmise and make educated guesses - we do not even know for sure if she is letting Mutt produce the new album - we see gossip and supposedly informed sources saying this and that but nothing authoritative has been said by her or her label at all to date.

I find it strange to fathom Mutt still producing her work after what has gone down since the split but what do I know.
