Shania loves being out there in 'the bush' with nature.

Well, some of us believe when you don't work (and for her that would be producing an album) for over 8 years, then one is technically retired. Every post of hers indicates that there is no music on the horizen and there does not seem to be any on even the distant horizen. Of course Shania is not going to come out and say that she is retired; she is too business savy for that; thus, that is why she releases a pic here and there and some message. She is a smart person. But she is a retired person and she seems to be greatly enjoying her life, which is awesome. It must be nice to be relatively young and retired! Don't we all wish for that! And I am not dwelling on it (like some will say) I am just taking the 20 seconds it takes to post my thoughts. I actually find it amusing and smart on her part to post a pic or two; knowing full well that she knows that fans will eat it up and she does not have to put out any new music. She is a smart lady :)

Love the picture. looks like the moose is smiling. In some advertisements it says Shania will be on first show of Idol as well as Jan 19 show?

What business does she have to save? She won't lose anything if she says she's retired. All the fans who actually read her notes have already bought all her CDs, DVDs etc. It's perfect time to release such a statement. And actually her retirement would make her a better promotion that anything. Once an artist is gone or left the business people start to appreciate her/his work more. She writes these letters to keep in touch with her fans in case she finally releases new album. She may keep musical details a secret on purpose. In the previous message she promised she would inform us of some great news. I'm a bit disappointed that this letter doesn't contain any great news. But I'm sure she will write again soon because she can't leave us without her impressions from the Olympic Torch Run and I hope there will be some news about music. She knows it well that we are waiting and she has no benefit of just writing us letters if she is retired.

I really don’t protect her as I’m sick of waiting, too, but think what you’re saying. She really owes Mercury albums and she’s saving her fanny by writing to fans? It’s business! I believe they still wait for something only because she promises them that there will be something and there are some indications that it will be otherwise they would have already got sick of her and asked her to pay the money for not implementing the treaty. She may have friends there but when it comes to money friends always forget that they are friends. My point is whether she wants it or not she owes them and she can’t retire before she settles accounts with Mercury. And how can’t you see that she’s making music? She shows us that she does not only travel and has rest but visits musical events such  as The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Anniversary Party and VEVO Launch Party where there were lots of people connected with this business. She doesn’t want to write about such things. I wouldn’t do that too if I were her. I don’t like talking about things that I haven’t finished yet. There will be the album because she owes Mercury and they won’t let her just retire. She may write us this year, maybe next year… Someday she will have to release the album or pay them. I believe she’ll prefer the first choice because if she decides to settle accounts with them the sum will be round.

I have thought of what I am saying and I stand by it :) Yes, writing to her fans also shows Mercury that she is not retired and she is still into the whole music "thing". And it does not show that she is "making music" by just going to events related to music; those are easy to go to and I am sure that she enjoys them as well. She hears great music and catches up with old friends. No skin off of Shania's back.

Like I said, I don't have any more to add to this discussion. Feel free to think that she is not retired; but I will continue to think that more music will come when "money grows on trees; People live in peace; Everyone agrees"

As we all know Shania had to step out of the fame bubble for some normality, and as Shania has said, if she was no longer a recording artist she would still write songs for other artists to record, and do more charity work. That doesn't make her retired IMO.
