Canada has been REALLY excited lately about all the gold medals they've won, so I figure 'Rock This Country' or 'Up! Up! Up!' - as opposed to her fun, female empowerment songs.

And, 99.9% likely to lipsynch, as most of the artists have done - it is just easier because of the many different productions going on all around.

I'll just be thrilled to see Shania - and Neil Young would be awesome too.

I haven't been paying close attention to the big Canada / USA hockey game, but Shania is a big hockey fan and tickets are like $10,000 (from a scalper) - I would be surprised if Shania was not there, she would still have a few hours to prepare for the ceremony, but who knows.

I am looking forward to some photos in the media surfacing soon ( I hope )

NBC News mentioned Shania and the closing ceremonies tonight!

It is going to be interesting to see how all those "fans" who have constantly stabbed Shania in the back over recent months & years are suddenly going to be acting like they are her best fans again after tonight now that she has performed in public. Thank you Tommy for maintaining such a great site and message board throughout this whole period, REAL fans stay there forever and for always and we know who those fans are. So thanks.

The NBC Nightly News that was on at 6:30 PM EST said that Shania would be one of the performers.

EXACTLY! I can think very clearly of a couple of rampant posters around here who have berated her blogs and appearances - for lack of 'new album' news - and all those vacations she has been taking.

I have a VERY Canadian saying to them tonight: 'Take off Eh!'

No doubt about it they will be acting like they never turned against her, we dont need to mention any names everybody knows who they are. biggrin They are the same ppl who suggested Shania had let her country down by not appearing at the opening ceremony and also were adamant that she had refused their invitation!!! I wonder if they will be saying sorry to her as loudly as they were berating her.

It has been a dramatic two week run for the Winter Olympics. The Olympics started with the heartbreaking loss of Georgian luge athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili and we didn’t know if it would recover. The opening ceremony began by dedicating the games to Nodar and when the Georgian athletes marched, they received a standing ovation. The Georgian athletes competed in the remainder of the games and the events did continue. Though no one forgot Nodar, there were many highs and victories achieved.

The closing ceremonies promise to be a star studded event and you can watch the events online, provided you have cable or satellite access and download Silverlight to your computer. The shows have aired on NBC, however, they haven’t aired live on the West Coast.

Some of the celebrities and musicians scheduled for tonight include Canadians Shania Twain, Neil Young, Michael Buble, and Neil Young. The closing ceremonies begin at 7:00 p.m. and last until 10:30 p.m. ET, however, check your local listings for times in your zone. At 11:30 p.m., Bob Costas will take a final look at the past 17 days of Olympic Games.

I think that is the same member that criticized her for not keeping in touch with her fans,Now criticizes her for blogging and the video's.

Apparently the CC is still going on but NBC went to "The Marriage Ref" here in the U.S..

The show is not over yet. Its going to return in the next hour. NBC did comfirm it and if it doesn't happen. Its not going to make NBC look good. I was mad made at 10:30 pm, but then realized it wasn't done yet. So, there is hope.

We have had: Avril Lavigne, Nickelback, an incredibly BORING Alanis Morissette - and now Simple Plan - we have about 15 minutes to go, so I imagine they are saving the BEST for last.

By the way, I loved Neil Young. Wish he had done 2 more songs: 4 Strong Winds and Rockin' in The Free World would have been nice - more Neil and less Avril and Alanis.

Can't wait for Shania!!!!

Avril is airing at the moment in new zealand and there is still 30mins to go... We heard all about peeing in the snow ages ago. Performances seem to be out of order to what to what UpUpUp is reporting

This is painful to watch - officially we have 4 minutes left - and we have a couple of unknowns - a girl singer with Shania-like hair and makeup from Quebec - and now - to make sure everyone is 'covered' k- os a Toronto rapper.

Hope they can squeeze in Shania and then CUT to the 11 o'clock news. If they don't give her all the time - I will be really, really un happy.

I see on the Shania Forums that people are upset that the Olympics didn't ask Shania to perform tonight. But I'm sure they DID ask her to be there. It's just that Shania must have said no. cry

I don't see why she would be there (in town) and NOT do the Olympics. Maybe something 'suddenly came up' - maybe some family emergency, or maybe she was sick. There is no way anyone would willingly choose unknown Quebec star and crap yard musicians over Shania. No way.

Something must have happened. This is awful. I was sooooooooo excited to see Shania!
