Shania Twain Inks Book Deal

Country singer Shania Twain has signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster’s Atria Books. The untitled autobiography will share details about Twain’s tragic past, her divorce with music producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange, and the career struggles she overcame to achieve music industry success.

Atria Books & Washington Square Press Publisher, Judith Curr acquired the manuscript, which includes world rights, from Robert B. Barnett of Williams & Connolly LLP. Senior Editor Sarah Durand will serve as editor for the project. The book will be published in spring 2011.

Twain says: “There have been moments in my life I was concerned by the reality that tomorrow would never come. Recently I experienced one of those moments to an intensity that brought on a sudden urgency to document my life before I ran out of time, before I had the opportunity to share an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words. There are times in your life that are meant for reflection, and this was one of them. I was looking at an old video of the up photo shoot. During part of that Shania said that she always wanted to write and if she hadn't done what she was doing then she thought that she would have been a writer. Anyone remember this old video?

Shania Twain to Release Powerful Autobiography on May 3

Shania Twain has had some big ups in her career — her 1997 release, ‘Come On Over,’ was the best-selling album of all time by a female artist in any genre — but in her upcoming autobiography, the Canadian singer tells the story of her less-than-perfect personal life.

“There have been moments in my life I was concerned by the reality that tomorrow would never come,” Twain says of the book. The ‘Any Man of Mine’ star has faced lots of turmoil in her life, from losing both parents in a fatal car crash in the late ’80s, to her rocky divorce from Robert “Mutt” Lange just last year. Twain adds, “Recently I experienced one of those moments to an intensity that brought on a sudden urgency to document my life before I ran out of time.”

Though Twain is only 45, she’s been through enough in her lifetime to appreciate the value of time. “I began writing this book with a sincere respect for the past, present and future as something never to be taken for granted,” she says of the currently unnamed autobiography, which she refers to as “an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words.”

Twain’s autobiography is set for release on May 3. In addition to the tell-all book, Twain will also debut a docu-series on Oprah’s OWN Network this spring.

Ready to start that beach-reading list? Well, there are several country music-related books in the publishing chute for you to consider.

As always, biographies and autobiographies are in plentiful supply. Topping the spring list is Shania Twain's memoir, From This Moment On, which arrives in May. Author Susan Masino's Family Tradition -- Three Generations of Hank Williams is set for May release, and The Three of Us: Growing Up With Tammy and George, written by daughter Georgette Jones and Nashville author Patsi Bale Cox, is out in July. On Tuesday (Feb. 22), the paperback edition of Jimmy McDonough's Tammy Wynette: Tragic Country Queen becomes available.

Here are some other titles that are on the horizon:

Bean Blossom: The Brown County Jamboree and Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Festivals, Thomas Adler (May); A Heartbeat and a Guitar: Johnny Cash and the Making of Bitter Tears, Antonino D'Ambrosio (May) and Right by Her Roots: Americana Women and Their Songs, Jewly Hight (March).

Also, Rockabilly: The Twang Heard 'Round the World: The Illustrated History, Michael Dregni, Greil Marcus, Peter Guralnick, Luc Sante, Sonny Burgess, Robert Gordon (May); Woody Guthrie: American Radical, Will Kaufman (March) and 33 Revolutions per Minute: A History of Protest Songs, From Billie Holiday to Green Day, Dorian Lynskey (April).

All That Is Bitter and Sweet, by Ashley Judd (the actress-activist member of the Judds clan) and Maryanne Vollers, will be published in April.

The most intriguing title, though, arrives in May. If Liam Sullivan's Making the Scene -- Nashville: How to Live, Network and Succeed in Music City fulfills the promise of its title, it could become a replacement for the Gideon Bible at local hotels and motels.

Which seems odd to turn that photo into the book cover. I'm sure there will be some people who glance at that cover on a bookstore shelf and NOT recognize the woman on the cover as Shania Twain. Very odd indeed.

the reason why shania is not a member of the Opry is because the people who run it don't like shania they think she not country enough! that she to much pop but she is better then any of them!

Shania Twain’s career has been chronicled in the press since she hit the top of the charts in the early 1990s with hit songs like “Any Man Of Mine,” “Man! I Feel Like A Woman,” and ”You’re Still The One.” Over the last few years, her personal life has also made headlines, as she filed for divorce from producer Mutt Lange in 2008 and married Frédéric Thiébaud, on January 1, 2011 in a private ceremony in Puerto Rico. Now, Shania is telling her story in her own words in her autobiography, “From This Moment On,” set to be released on May 3.

The autobiography will recount some of Shania’s most pivotal life moments. Her childhood in Canada, the sudden death of her parents, her rise to fame, her painful, public divorce and her new marriage are all chronicled in this book. Shania’s reality series on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will also premiere in May.

Newlywed Shania Twain will release her autobiography, 'From This Moment On,' May 3. The book chronicles the singer's ascension from her birth in Canada as Eilleen Edwards to the superstar who's sold more than 75 million albums worldwide.

In the book, Shania shares her "challenging and sometimes shockingly painful upbringing in rural Ontario," the tragic death of her mother and stepfather, her rise to fame and the recent struggles in her personal life.

"There have been moments in my life I was concerned by the reality that tomorrow would never come," she explains. "Recently I experienced one of those moments to an intensity that brought on a sudden urgency to document my life before I ran out of time, before I had the opportunity to share an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words."

The book is likely to recount some of the happier times in the country phenomenon's life, as well. She married Frédéric Thiébaud in Puerto Rico on New Year's Day 2011, after becoming romantically involved in 2009.

Shania posted a letter to her fans on her website in December to share news of the engagement, writing, "The support of others has helped me to move forward less fearful of change, allowing me to embrace the beauty of life today and remain more open to whatever it brings tomorrow ... In the last two-and-a-half years of adjusting to life after separation and divorce, I needed to lean on others more often than I was accustomed to ... I'm in love! Frédéric Nicolas Thiébaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship."

The book is being published by Atria Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster.

Also in the pipeline for Shania is her reality show 'Why Not?' which is scheduled to premiere on Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network in April.
