Shania Twain Is Engaged

Shania Twain has found love again.

The country star, who went through a painful split in 2008, is engaged to Swiss executive Frédéric Thiébaud.

"They've been engaged a couple months," a source confirms to PEOPLE.

In asking for her hand in marriage, Thiébaud, 40, presented Twain, 45, with a three-carat solitaire diamond ring.

The two grew close after Twain's husband of 14 years, music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange abruptly left her for another woman in May 2008. The alleged affair was between Lange and Thiébaud's then-wife, Marie-Anne, a longtime secretary and manager of the couple's chateau in Switzerland.

"Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship," a source told PEOPLE at the time. (Lange denied an affair).

Twain and Frédéric Thiébaud were later spotted vacationing together in Canada, New York and Florida.

In August 2009, Twain finally addressed the relationship in an emotional tribute, referring to her fiancé as "a dear friend and true gentleman" and writing that he had "been the most constant companion and support for both [her son] Eja and I. And having gone through the suffering of his family splitting apart at the same time and under the same extreme circumstances, he understands me better than anyone."

Friends of the couple say they've managed to find happiness together after what was a painful situation for both of them.

"Her happiness certainly shone through," Twain's pal Stéphane Lagonico, an ambassador for the Swiss Red Cross, told PEOPLE recently of the pair, who attended a Red Cross ball together. "They are a great addition to each other's lives."

Added another friend: "Shania and Fred are a couple that fit together."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Country singer Shania Twain is engaged.

Twain’s manager Jason Owen confirmed Monday that Twain is engaged to business executive Frederic Thiebaud. Owen declined further comment.

The news was first reported by Us Weekly.

Twain first confirmed in August 2009 that she was dating Thiebaud after her divorce from Robert “Mutt” Lange, who had an affair with Twain’s best friend and Thiebaud’s wife, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. She reached out to Frederic Thiebaud in the aftermath, and wrote on her website last year that she had found “a dear friend and true gentleman.”

No word on when or where the wedding will be. Twain, who has stepped away from the spotlight the last few years, has an autobiography due out in the spring and is scheduled to have her own show on Oprah Winfrey’s television network.

She suffered a broken heart after her husband of 14 years, legendary producer Mutt Lange, left her for her best friend in 2008.

But country singer Shania Twain, 45, is now said to be 'happier than she's ever been' - after getting engaged to the man whose wife stole her husband.

Frederic Thiebaud, 40, was married to Shania's best friend and house manager Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who is now living with Lange.

Marie-Anne was an employee of Shania's and looked after her 46-room château in Switzerland.

She soon became a close confidante and travel companions as Shania knew virtually no one else in Switzerland.

But when the country singer's marriage imploded two years ago with rumours of an affair between her husband and Marie-Anne, Shania turned to Thiebaud for comfort .

He was also suffering from the devastating split from his wife.

Shania wrote on her website of Thiebaud last year: 'We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other. We've become closer and and stronger through it all'.

By the summer of 2009, their friendship had turned into love.

Shania's rep confirmed to Mail Online today that the couple are officially set to tie the knot.

The love birds reportedly became secretly engaged two months ago in Switzerland and a source sold Us Magazine: 'Fred is a hopeless romantic, so it was done in a very special way'.

The Nestle business executive had apparently planned the proposal for months and helped to design the three-carat, emerald-cut diamond ring worth an estimated $100,000.

The couple stepped out together in New York last week, with Twain reportedly showing off an enormous engagement ring.

In the real-life wife-swap story, Lange is still living with Marie-Anne and both couples have a friendly relationship for the sake of their children.

Shania and her ex-husband share custody of their son Eja, nine, and the Thiebaud's have a daughter, also nine.

The former musical couple finalised their divorce in June.

'Shania is cordial with Mutt for the sake of Eja. Everyone gets along now because it all worked out for the best', a source close to the couple revealed.

'Mutt knows about the engagement is happy for her'.

Shania and her ex-husband collaborated musically and he produced her 1997 hit album Come On Over which is the top-selling female studio album in history.

Lange, who produced hits for bands like Def Leppard, AC/DC and Maroon five, was said to be a recluse and when the couple moved to

Switzerland in 2000, they reportedly would go weeks on their estate without seeing anyone from the outside world.

But Thiebaud has brought out her adventurous side and the couple have gone water-skiing, sky-diving and for camel rides during trips around the world.

In a video posting on her website, Shania shared with fans that her lover surprised her during a trip to the Swiss Alps with a picnic.

He romantically etched out the words I Love You in the snow.

A source close to the couple said: 'He's very affectionate and doting. Fred is always taking are of her and making sure she is happy'.

Worth an estimated $450million, Shania is said to be excited about getting married again but not in a major rush.

The You're Still The One singer hasn't recorded any new music in a while but she has a lot to look forward to in the coming year.

Shania is currently filming a travelogue documentary for Oprah Winfrey's new TV network OWN.

Titled Why Not? With Shania Twain, the series will follow the singer as she 'begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures', a statement from the network said.

It is strange how things work out. Just like you would be upset to lose a job, or even a lover, you never know what fate will hand over to you. Mutt and Anne Marie were temporary players, in what turned out to be a significant relationship: Shania meets Frederic....the love of her life.

Mutt is getting older, and Frederic is young and fit, and shares Shania's love of life. He is better suited to her than Mutt.

Twain engaged to marry Thiebaud

Country star Shania Twain is set to wed for the second time - the singer is engaged to businessman Frederic Thiebaud.

Twain's spokesperson has confirmed to Usmagazine.com that the businessman, a Nestle executive, popped the question about two months ago in his native Switzerland.

The singer appeared to confirm the reports when she stepped out for lunch with Thiebaud in New York on Thursday, wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring on her left hand.

A source tells the website, "I've never seen Shania so happy. She has ended up with the love of her life."

Twain has been romantically linked to Thiebaud since splitting from her husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange in 2008 after 14 years of marriage.

She confirmed the romance in August 2009.

Ironically, Thiebaud is the ex-husband of Twain's former best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who was accused of having an affair with Lange following the news of his marital breakdown. Both Lange and Marie-Anne Thiebaud denied the allegations.

Twain has a nine-year-old son, Eja, with her ex.

Shania Twain has found love again.

The Timmins, Ont., native is planning to marry Swiss businessman Frederic Thiebaud. The news was first reported in US Weekly and later confirmed Twain's manager.

A Twain representative tells the magazine the 45-year-old country superstar became engaged to Thiebaud about two months ago.

Thiebaud is the ex-husband of Twain's former friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud — the woman who allegedly came between Twain and her first husband, Robert (Mutt) Lange.

Twain and Lange finalized their divorce earlier this year.

Though Twain hasn't released an album of new material since 2002's Up, she's been in the news frequently of late.

She will have her own TV show on Oprah Winfrey's soon-to-launch cable channel called Why Not? With Shania Twain, she's announced plans to release a memoir next year and she also popped up as a guest judge on the last season of American Idol.

Twain wrote about her romance with Thiebaud in a blog entry on her official website last August.

“A dear friend and true gentleman by the name of Fred, has been the most constant companion of support for both Eja and me, and having gone through the suffering of his family splitting apart at the same time under the same extreme circumstances, he understood me better than anyone,” she wrote.

“We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other up. We've become stronger and closer through it all, as have our children Eja and (Thiebaud's daughter) Johanna.”

I just saw a report on "Access Hollywood" and according to the Us Weekly article Mutt and Marie-Anne are still together and are happy for Shania and Fred. They got engaged 2 months ago in Switzerland and Fred helped design Shania's engagement ring.

A day after UsMagazine.com broke the news, Twain confirmed her engagement with a heartfelt letter to fans Tuesday.

"I'm in love!" she wrote "Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship. Fred and I are happy to announce, our ENGAGEMENT!"

The woman, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who denied the affair, was also a friend of Shania's, so of course the singer was devastated that Thiebaud was reportedly porking her husband. If you're confused, don't worry so am I. Go watch and episode of One Life to Live and it will become clear. Shania and Marie-Anne's ex fell in love when they reached out to "comfort" each other in the wake of the alleged affair. I don't know if things worked out with their exes, but I hope not. I can't think of a better revenge than living happily ever after with the ex-husband of the woman you were left for. Honestly I would have liked to have seen LeAnn Rimes' ex, Dean Sheremet, find love with Brandi Glanville, Eddie Cibrian's ex. But Dean just got engaged to someone else, who in an interesting twist, is not a man.
