I just saw a very recent upload on YOUTUBE of a VERY old interview w Shania...around 1993, with the McCain brothers (?)
Interesting when they ask about the origin of the name Shania, she doesn't mention she got it from her Deerhurst wardrobe girl...but mentions she asked her grandmother about it.
Anyway, I have NEVER seen it before!

Great find! I've never seen it either. That's weird she didn't mention the girl from Deerhurst and said there is no meaning to the name Shania. How about "I'm on my way"?

Well, it was before she had huge fame and started to get really good media training. Also, her early advisors probably wanted to create a more exotic, romantic image; not 'Oh, I took this from a wardrobe girl, as it sounded cool'

So the whole name thing was a big publicity ploy......she had no idea what it meant (if it actually does mean "I am on my way") and who knows now where she actually got the idea of the name.....
So later she threw in the whole it means "I am on my way" story to make her whole persona sound cooler to the public......
