ZANESVILLE, OHIO — This is the second time Rebecca Crumbaker has won sunglasses from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
This time, though, they came with a $200 gas card, a $200 Bloomingdale’s gift card, two sets of headphones, two tickets to see Shania Twain in concert and a three-day, two-night stay at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas.
Crumbaker, 43, of Zanesville, was one of the Day 8 winners on the show’s 12 Days of Giveaways. She already received her prize package in the mail a few days ago, she said. She was able to donate the Bloomingdale’s card to buy water bottles for Hurricane Sandy victims, and she plans to cash in on the Vegas trip early in 2013, going with a friend from Arizona, she said.
Crumbaker is an avid “Ellen” watcher. A few years ago, she won a pair of sunglasses from the show, and ever since then, she’s entered contests from time to time, knowing there really is a chance to win, she said.
She struck out on days one through seven of the 12 Days of Giveaways, but on day eight, she was sitting with a friend when she remembered she hadn’t entered her name yet, she said.
“He kind of laughed, and I said, ‘Don’t laugh; I won glasses from there,’” she said.
The next day at work, Crumbaker’s phone rang. The caller ID said California, and she thought it was probably a telemarketer, but she picked up anyway, she said. The woman on the other end told her she was from the show, and that Crumbaker was a Day 8 winner.
“I just freaked out. I couldn’t believe it,” Crumbaker said. “I started crying, and people at work were looking at me.”
Crumbaker isn’t the only Ellen winner nearby. Jodi Stipes, of Coshocton, was a Day 10 winner, landing a $1,500 three-day, two-night stay for two with oceanfront accommodations at the Montage Resort along with a $100 spa credit at the facility, a $200 Bluebird card from American Express, a $300 Exxon Mobil Gift Card, a Kiehl’s healthy skin essentials gift set valued at $328 and a $200 Lacoste gift card.
