Shania's next leg of Vegas shows start May 20. Will she arrive a few days early to attend the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 18?

Fellow performer Jason Derulo appeared on "Good Morning America" yesterday to announce his performance, as well as the first round of finalists. The full list of finalists can be viewed here.
Still no mention of Shania attending the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night.
Carrie Underwood, One Republic, Miranda Lambert, Iggy Azalea set for Billboard Music Awards
By Robin Leach | May 13, 2014
The star-studded lineup for Sunday’s 2014 Billboard Music Awards to be televised from MGM Grand Garden Arena on Fox is falling into place. I revealed this morning the big surprise involving the late Michael Jackson.
Now I have more news: Singer-songwriter Lorde will perform her new single “Tennis Court” for the first time on television. Also added today: Ariana Grande will perform “Problem,” which features Iggy Azalea, and Iggy will perform “Fancy.” Iggy is the first rapper to chart at No. 3 and No. 4 at the same time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
One Republic will do double-duty this weekend in Las Vegas, first on Saturday for golf great Tiger Woods at his annual Tiger Jam charity fundraiser at Mandalay Bay Events Center and then alongside Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, Pitbull and Luke Bryan at MGM Grand.
Country stars Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood will debut their duet “Something Bad” ahead of its June 3 release on Miranda’s next album “Platinum.” Carrie is up against One Republic and Ellie Goulding for the Milestone Award. Voting continues for the first two hours of the three-hour telecast.
Jordin Sparks, who was a sensation three weeks ago entertaining Gloria Estefan at our annual Keep Memory Alive gala, returns with her fiance Jason Derulo, who is performing. She will be teamed with Lance Bass co-hosting the two-hour pre-show red carpet to be live streamed on Yahoo starting at 3 p.m. PT.
It looks like Shania will be presenting at the awards show afterall!
Ludacris to Host 2014 Billboard Music Awards
By Billboard Staff | May 14, 2014 @ 10:00 am ET
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards are getting a dose of Southern hospitality.
Hosting this Sunday's annual music celebration on ABC is one of hip-hop's all-time most successful artists -- Ludacris.
Luda is the owner of 18 Hot 100 top 10 singles, the third-most of any hip-hop musician. He's also produced five No. 1 albums on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and 29 top 10 singles on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Additionally, the Atlanta-based rapper boasts a considerable acting resumé, making him an ideal choice to hold down hosting duties. He has appeared in acclaimed films like "Hustle & Flow" and "Crash," in addition to a recurring role on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
Currently, Ludacris is in the midst of filming for "Fast & Furious 7" (his latest of several films for the series) and working on his upcoming studio album "Ludaversal," due out this fall.
Stars who will present awards alongside Ludacris include Shania Twain, Phillip Phillips, Josh Groban, Lucy Hale and fun.'s Jack Antonoff. There will be performances from Shakira, 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Lorde, Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, OneRepublic, Pitbull and Ricky Martin.
Fan voting for the 2014 Milestone Award presented by Chevrolet will continue through the first two hours of the awards show, ending at 10pm ET. To vote for finalists Ellie Goulding, OneRepublic or Carrie Underwood go to billboard.com/milestone.
The BBMAs, which are produced by dick clark productions, will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on ABC from 8 p.m. ET. Yahoo will be streaming this year's red carpet show at 6 p.m. ET. everyone is entitled to there opinion, i think we should just get along :) and i do agree with Butters on some aspects, Why wont she perform at an awards ever, Many singers will sing old songs from there catalogue, Shania can do that i think! Glad we will see her today though!

Of course everyone is free to point out their own opinions. In Butter's comments it's not the content that matters. It's the tone.
I am also sad that she isn't performing but I can be sad about that without having to post aggressive and frustaded comments on a message board. And besides that I can respect the fact that Shania obviously is just not ready yet and still afraid to perform.
Real fans are supporting through good and bad times!
Yes, she won't be performing but at least she will be there and presenting an award to someone and that is better than nothing at all.
Yes, so negative to want to hear a singer actually sing!
I will stay positive like you and focus on what really matters--her clothing choices that night.
So will she wear black or pink? *dying in anticipation*
Butters, she has to be invited to perform. She can't just say: Oh, I sing. It's my turn. ME ME. No, that's not how it works. She was also invited to present. Two years in a row. And you act like she does not perform. Vegas is a performance stage. I don't care how you define it, any time she opens her mouth to hit a note, that is singing to me. If you want to hear her sing, buy a ticket to Vegas. Thousands upon thousands do it. Oh and she's in Canada performing too. So she's not staying in one place. Buy a ticket, or shut up.
Izy, Nice picture change. One of my favorites. Probably ranks #1 from the STO shoot on my list.
Another interview with Shania from the red carpet. She says she's "in a really productive songwriting period right now and gearing up to make another album."

Ah, I should, "shut up". Classy. And some say I'm the rude one......
And yes, you are right. I should just "shut up" and buy a ticket. Ok, I will not pay my rent this month and will not feed my animals that I care for and sell my car and then I can buy a ticket to see Shania in Vegas. Great suggestion. Very logical.
And yes, I'm sure that Shania is NEVER invited to sing at these award shows. Sure. She just has been waiting her turn since 2002........
I understand the opinions of some very well. To be a little fair to Shania, casino contracts place all kinds of restrictions to their performers. It is likely that she is not allowed to sing live because she is locked in with Caesars Palace. I do not see Celine Dion performing in American television these days (unless I missed something) and that is no coincidence. Ditto for Elton John and Rod Stewart.
One of my reasons for initially deriding Shania's choice to sing in Vegas was because it is like signing a deal with the devil (artistically speaking). You sign away your artistic expression, freedom and drastically lower your paycheck for the most part. I have a relative that works in a casino and she tells me that everyone who provides a service to a casino is an employee, from the executives, performers, to the maids.
All Las Vegas performers are weighed and measured on a regular basis. If you gain as little as 5lbs, you are ordered to lose weight and if you are not, you are told that you are violating the terms of your contract. If you are skeptical of this, research it or read Jenna Jameson's biography. Working for Vegas North is nothing like working in Las Vegas itself. Since the casino provides the tools that the performer needs to work (e.g. stage, dancers, assistant staff and costumes), they do not want to spend additional money modifying and adjusting a performers wardrobe if they are gaining weight or are careless. Waste not want not is their motto down to the water that is served.
When artists are current in show business they operate like independent contractors and have unions that protect them. This gives them the ability to perform in their style so long as the contractor agrees to it. There is no such thing as being fashionably late in Las Vegas. Sin City may be a great way to have your name back in the headlines on the easy. However, once people have seen you live so many times, that mystery is gone. Entertainers live off the mystery associated with their image. Usually, the performer who lands in Vegas, stays there, be it in the literal sense or symbolically (e.g. Elvis and the Rat Pack associated with Las Vegas). I will say that some of the most talented people perform there and live.
On another note, some performers can get caught up with the excesses of a casino town (e.g. gambling, drinking, non-stop partying, indulgence, plastic surgery and a nocturnal culture). I know it sounds a lot like Hollywood, but people who live in L.A. have easier access to living a normal life. In fact, Southern California is home to a large and growing Christian population. Shania appears to be a clean living person and gets out of town often, but the city does change people. Most of my relative's co-workers have a gambling habit in varying degrees and their morals changed upon moving here (e.g. more openly selfish, lush and corrupt). Sometimes they do convert to Christianity, but that phase does not last and they always have to play one more time. Lola Falana (huge Vegas act in the 1970's) converted to Catholicism in the 1980's. There you go.
