Was following @Mauricio_Aug on Twitter updating the set list. Looks like the final list was this. Where is Don't Be Stupid? Forever and For Always? (Btw FAFA was a #1 AC hit and #4 country hit; DBS hit #6 on country - so these are indeed part of "the hits".) This is your last time on the road Shan, the least you can do is not skimp out on the show.

  1. Rock This Country
  2. Honey I'm Home
  3. You Win My Love
  4. Whose Bed
  5. Don't Be Stupid
  6. Love Gets Me Every Time
  7. Any Man of Mine
  8. I'm Gonna Getcha Good
  9. Party For Two
  10. Come On Over
  11. Up
  12. No One Needs To Know
  13. You're Still The One
  14. From This Moment On
  15. Impress Me Much
  16. I'm Outta Here
  17. Feel Like A Woman

There is a more complete set list on Instagram also which has Today, Aint No Quitter, and some instrumentals of Ka-Ching (interesting!) and Don't. Haven't seen any clips of those songs but hopefully that's accurate. That's a more full show than I thought earlier!

Can we start a campaign to get her to take "Ain't No Quitter" out of the set?!?? Whhhyyyy are you performing this song, Shania?!?
It wasn't a hit AND it doesn't sound too great live. How about a song that was a bigger hit on the charts? "I'm holding onto Love", "She's Not Just A Pretty Face", "Forever & For Always", "The woman In Me", "You've got a way" "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing", "Home Ain't Where His Heart Is."

Oh! And take out Today Is Your Day while you're at it

Shania Twain Kicks Off Fiery Final Tour in Seattle

Country-pop superstar begins her Rock This Country trek with hits, fireworks and aerial theatrics

By Robert Ham | Rolling Stone Country | June 6, 2015

Shania Twain
Shania Twain kicked off her Rock This Country Tour in Seattle on June 5th.

A lot has changed in the worlds of pop and country since Shania Twain last released an album (2002's Up!) and last went out on tour. In that time, she's witnessed the rise of crossover stars such as Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, as well as the chart-topping reigns of Miley Cyrus and Rihanna. Although she hasn’t been resting on her laurels, thanks to a two-year residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, it's a wonder Twain waited until now to step back onstage and remind the rest of the world what she's capable of.

If any of that was weighing on Twain's mind when she took the stage at Key Arena in Seattle, Washington, Friday night to kick off her first U.S. tour in 11 years, the 49-year-old superstar sure didn't let it show. In fact, the closest she came to acknowledging the female pop powerhouses of today was the Beyoncé-like bedazzled bodysuit she wore as she closed out the nearly two-hour show with a fierce version of her 1999 classic, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"

Outside of that wardrobe choice, the newly blonde Twain didn't attempt to use this nationwide tour as a way to compete with the pop and country stars of today. Rather, she stayed true to herself, strutting around the stage confidently in a variety of other body hugging outfits and managing to appear humble amid the meticulously planned spectacle.

Everything else about the show was set up to live up to the tour's name, Rock This Country. Twain's sturdy, seven-piece band was decked out in all black attire, with an emphasis on leather. And during the superstar's costume changes, the ensemble showed off their voluminous chops, rousing the crowd with bombastic guitar shredding instrumentals. The staging of the nearly two-hour set was pure arena rock overkill, with lots of pyrotechnics and a colorful laser light show.

The setlist, though, put the emphasis on Twain's country side. After a raucous opening version of "Rock This Country!," she settled into a stomping groove, running through fan favorites like the fiddle-heavy "Don't Be Stupid" and a punchy take on her first country radio hit, "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?"

Lest anyone forget where Twain's roots are planted, she and the band set up at the lip of the stage with acoustic instruments to add a little old-timey flavor to "No One Needs to Know" and the heartfelt "Today Is Your Day." There was a little wink added to the countrified proceedings, as well: During the title track to her last album Up!, Twain mounted a fringed saddle that lifted in the air and took her in a long slow circle above the audience as she sang.

Between tunes, Twain sounded downright awestruck at the rapturous response she was getting from the packed arena. Her between-song banter had an "aw shucks" charm to it, with her letting out lots of audible laughter. And prior to her skyward saddle ride, she spoke haltingly about losing all of her confidence a few years ago, and called her return to the stage nothing short of a miracle. It was a wonderfully humanizing moment rarely seen in a concert of this size.

This being the first night of a long U.S. tour, the kinks were visibly and audibly still being worked out, and Twain had yet to settle into any kind of routine. She flubbed a couple of lines during "Come On Over," nearly missed a couple of cues (thankfully not any that put her in danger of being hurt by the flames and fireworks shooting from the stage), and ran out of vocal steam trying to hit a big note during an otherwise great version of "Any Man of Mine."

Rock This Country is billed as Twain's farewell tour, but as she told Rolling Stone Country recently, she feels like she has "so many other things to do musically." She also acknowledged that she's not closing the door on touring completely. And after the reception that she received in Seattle last night, and will surely receive as she criss-crosses North America this summer, she might soon be rethinking those retirement plans.

Shania Twain shows she can still strut the stuff at KeyArena

Shania Twain kicked off her “Rock This Country Tour,” announced as her last, at KeyArena Friday, June 5. Twain had voice problems, but came off like a veteran pitcher, nibbling at the edges, but still strutting the hard stuff

By OWEN R. SMITH | Special to The Seattle Times | June 6, 2015 at 11:42 am

Concert review

Shania Twain kicked off her first tour in 11 years at KeyArena Friday (June 5) with flames and fireworks and a flight around the arena suspended by a crane, but the concert would have been riveting without any of that.

The show felt like a family reunion and victory lap for the 49-year-old Canadian superstar, who had announced the “Rock This Country” tour would be her last. In 2008, Twain began losing her singing voice before taking up a 105-show residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Friday, Twain was like a crafty veteran pitcher who mostly nibbled at the edges of big notes but could still blow a fastball by you when she needed to.

Knowing this was the final time Twain would play in Seattle, the sold-out house stood in reverence most of the night, reveling in a satisfying array of hits, belting out the lyrics and showering Twain with affection.

Twain, rocking a mane of newly blond hair, took the stage in thigh-high leather boots, a red, sequined mini-dress and a black leather jacket, but the confidence of her outfit belied how nervous she was feeling. She got off to a somewhat warbly start on “Rock This Country,” and noted several times that this was the tour’s first show.

It didn’t matter to her fans — many of them men and women in their early 30s who grew up in the late 1990s during the height of Twain’s fame — and by the time Twain reached the breezy “You Win My Love,” she was looser and the crowd was dancing in the aisles.

Before launching into 2002’s “Up!,” the title track off Twain’s third diamond-certified (10-million-selling) album in a row, she introduced Seattle native Josh Gooch, 24, who plays lead guitar for her. The shaggy-haired Gooch got a big ovation and later proved his mettle with a series of satisfying solos.

She followed with a five-song stretch of pure fan service that included a heartfelt version of “You’re Still the One” and a nice vocal highlight on “From This Moment.”

“That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “(If You’re Not In It For Love) I’m Outta Here” closed things out. She came back for an encore on “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” sending KeyArena into euphoric hysteria one last time.

Review: Shania Twain kicks off long Canadian goodbye with Vancouver concert

By Francois Marchand, Vancouver Sun | June 7, 2015 10:10 PM

SHANIA TWAIN

Sunday night (again Tuesday) | Rogers Arena

VANCOUVER -- Country star Shania Twain began her long Canadian goodbye Sunday night at Rogers Arena.

It was the first of two Vancouver concerts on her Rock This Country farewell tour, which had officially kicked off in Seattle Friday night.

Twain, 50, recently announced she was done with touring after spending two years performing in Las Vegas. Her last proper North American trek dates back to more than a decade ago, in support of her 2002 album Up!

Moments before Shania took the stage, the mostly female crowd erupted in an impromptu wave, giving the Timmins, Ont.-bred Canadian Music Hall Of Famer a proper land of hockey welcome.

Backed by a black-clad seven-piece band (two fiddles, three guitars, bass, drums, and a spot open for some keyboards), Twain opened with a sizzling Rock This Country, unveiling a state-of-the-art show boasting fireworks, lazers, dry ice and massive lighting and LED displays.

Sporting blonde hair (which was the talk of all the entertainment TV shows), red sequin, and black leather fringe, Twain kicked it up one notch higher with the fiddle-heavy Honey I'm Home.

Twain was a little shaky on vocals early on, buried in the mix throughout the show, and you could see her reaching for her in-ear monitor during You Win My Love, which also suffered from a tacky checkered flag background on screen.

We were in full country mode with Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under, complete with Vegas-style dancing neon boots on screen.

"I just want to say thank you for an amazing welcome back to Canada," Twain said between songs. "Vancouver is a gorgeous place."

She talked about eating at restaurants and playing tennis.

"You probably didn't recognize me because you're not used to seeing me as a blonde," she said, pointing out her new hair colour before Nashville stomper Ain't No Quitter.

Although the last 10 years have seen country morph into the biggest form of pop (and Shania played a big role in this), Twain played it old school, with arrangements heavy on slide guitars, twang and vocal harmony.

No one was complaining, even the throngs of younger fans who spent the last decade with Swift, Underwood, Musgraves, and Cyrus (and yes, Miley can still crush at the country game).

Costume change interludes had an oversized Vegas big band/big lights kind of feel, the band knocking out some heavy duty filler.

I'm Gonna Getcha Good was all fire and flame, with that distinct '80s pop twist. Twain was shaky again on Come On Over, sounding a little flat and out of breath.

"It took a lot of work to get back up here," Twain admitted at the beginning of the acoustic portion of the show, talking about the problems she has been having with her voice over the past few years.

That said, the acoustic segment was quite moving, with You're Still The One (Shania on guitar at centre stage) being one of the best moments of the evening.

A parade of hits of that calibre, lasting nearly two hours an featuring a mechanical saddle ride above the crowd during Up, is a tough act to match.

Whether or not this tour ends up truly being Twain's last remains to be seen. Although she hasn't entirely revealed what's in store next, more music is on the horizon for Twain, according to interviews conducted recently.

The Rock This Country tour is a good reminder that Shania was once the undisputed queen of the art, no matter what hair colour.

In the opening slot, Calgary-bred, Vancouver-based country artist Wes Mack (born Wes MacInnes) gave his hometown crowd a little taste of his pop rock-laced brand of country.

With just one self-titled EP under his belt, released a week ago on country label Big Machine, Mack had to fill his short set list with some mood-setting stuff like Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk, which was a bit hit-and-miss.

Mack's enthusiasm was contagious. His background acting in shows like Smallville and Heartland certainly helps. Mack is a charismatic guy.

Not only was it a big deal for him to open for one of his idols, but to do it in a room where he had seen so many shows, as he pointed out, was extra special. He certainly made the most of it, showing up later in the show to duet with Twain on Party For Two.

Shania Twain's Summer Tour Designs by The Blonds Might Be Her Boldest Outfits Ever

By Jonathan Borge | June 8, 2015 @ 6:00 PM

060815-shania-twain-lead.jpg?itok=Ptf7Rgtm

Shania Twain has spent the past two years taking center stage inside The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for her celebrated Las Vegas residency. And although the country star might sing about "men’s shirts and short skirts," ultra-glamorous ensembles are more her style M.O. As she says goodbye to Sin City to embark on her Rock This Country tour this summer—her first in 11 years—it looks Twain will showing off a trio of show-stopping new looks.

Twain has tapped New York-based design duo Phillipe and David Blond, known as The Blonds, to create three over-the-top looks for her multi-city circuit, which kicked off June 5th in Seattle, Wash. The designs include a red sequin batwing dress with gunmetal chain details, a sparkling black boho mini dress, and a black faux-leather moto corset with plenty of Siam Preciosa crystals (below).

060815-shania-twain-embed-1.jpg?itok=L2rLV8IC

Twain's bold attitude was the starting point for the designs, which took six weeks to produce. “Our inspiration for the pieces was rock and roll with a glamorous country twist,” the duo told InStyle. “We worked closely with Shania and her stylist Tiffany Gifford to realize their vision. Each look was specifically designed for each segment of the show.”

060815-shania-twain-embed-3.jpg?itok=R8pM15a5

The designers also explained how the first look Twain steps out in is their interpretation of a “classic shredded T-shirt and leather jacket look,” which is made of holographic red liquid sequins alongside gunmetal safety pins, chains, and triangular crystals meant to mimic spikes (above). So which number does Twain feel most like a woman in? It’s the black off-the-shoulder boho dress with leather shorts (below). “It is definitely the most comfortable, but still maintains the rock and roll glam,” they said.

Shania show reshapes equestrian park

By Lynn Saxberg | Ottawa Citizen | June 11, 2015

Shania Twain will play to more people in Ottawa on June 27 than any other single night on her Rock This Country tour, organizers said Thursday as they presented a plan to deal with the volume of traffic that will stream to the newly redeveloped Wesley Clover Parks site.

Up to 25,000 people are expected at the concert, the only outdoor performance of Twain’s summer’s tour. According to concert promoter Andre Hudon, president and CEO of Donald K. Donald, it’s also the only show on the Canadian leg of the tour that’s not sold out.

Sharing the bill are classic-rock stalwarts the Doobie Brothers, American country duo Dan + Shay and Alberta’s Wes Mack. Tickets range from $89.50 to $179.50, on sale through capitaltickets.ca. Selling especially quickly, promoters said, are the higher-priced VIP tickets, which give access to reserved seats in two temporary grandstands flanking the stage. Gates open at 2 p.m.; the music runs from 4-11 p.m.

Although it’s the first major concert to be held at the former Nepean National Equestrian Centre, located north of Bells Corners in west-end Ottawa, organizers are working hard to avoid traffic chaos. Corkstown Road will be closed to regular traffic, and on-site parking will be limited to VIPs, media and the disabled. Everyone else will be directed to off-site parking at two nearby locations. Canadian Tire Centre has room for 6,500 cars ($20 at the gate) while Nortel’s former Carling campus can accommodate another 2,000 vehicles ($15 pre-paid, on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12 at capitaltickets.ca). Shuttle buses will ferry concertgoers from the parking lots to the concert site. If you don’t want to drive, there is on-site parking for bicycles, or OC Transpo is available.

The 500-acre property, owned by the National Capital Commission, is leased to the Wesley Clover Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by high-tech mogul Terry Matthews. His daughter, Karen Sparks, is the park’s executive director.

About $3.5 million has been spent to upgrade the equestrian facility and groom it as a concert site, said Sparks. The amount includes renovations to the barns and access roads, as well as environmental and archaeological assessments of the area where the stage pad is being constructed.

The concert itself requires more than $1 million in production costs, excluding Twain’s fee, said Ottawa concert promoter Ken Craig, who’s on the facility’s board of directors and is producing the concert for AEG Live. He added that 90 per cent of the money spent will be injected into the local economy by hiring area contractors.

Twain, who’s sold more than 75 million albums and is considered the biggest-selling country female artist in history, kicked off the tour, her first in more than a decade, in Seattle on June 5, sporting thigh-high boots and a newly blonde shade of hair. Backed by a seven-piece band, the 49-year-old queen of country-pop commanded a production that boasted fireworks, lasers, dry ice and a dazzling lighting display. The setlist was packed with hits, including Man! I Feel Like a Woman, That Don’t Impress Me Much and Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?, to name a few.

The Canadian leg of the tour began in Vancouver June 7 is making its way across the Prairies and into Southern Ontario before arriving in Ottawa. The June 27 concert will be Twain’s first in the nation’s capital since 2003, the same year she hosted the Juno Awards.

Twain is calling it her farewell tour, although she has also indicated that she will be releasing new music this year. Her last studio effort was 2002’s Up!.

Because of the size of the show there are some rules being imposed by organizers.

• There will be no readmission/no in and out of the concert grounds once admitted

The following items WILL NOT be permitted on site:

⦁ Alcoholic beverages (brought from outside)

⦁ Glass bottles and cans

⦁ Illegal Drugs and drug paraphernalia

⦁ Chairs of any kind

⦁ Food and beverages from outside of the site (unless with medical note)

⦁ Umbrellas

⦁ Video and audio recording equipment

⦁ Professional photo equipment (SLR cameras, i.e. removable lens cameras)

⦁ Rigid thermos, coolers or other hard plastic containers

⦁ Large backpacks (camping style)

⦁ Tents, megaphones, weapons or fireworks

⦁ Inflatables such as beach balls and balloons.

⦁ Skateboards and bicycles

⦁ Animals (except Seeing Eye dogs)

⦁ Items intended for sale/promotion. Illegal merchandise of any description

⦁ Banners, flags (no poles) or anything bigger than letter size

⦁ Laser pointers, flashlights, glow (fluorescent) sticks, etc.

The following items will be admitted on site:

⦁ Raincoat / poncho

Shania Twain, 49, takes inspiration from Tina Turner with dramatic performance in red sequins and thigh-high boots

The singer turned back time as she wore a racy outfit and gave her performance EVERYTHING

By Rebecca Pocklington | Mirror | June, 11, 2015

Shania Twain is known for some fairly risky outfits - after all, we all remember that leopard-print onesie.

But she's determined not to change, and stripped down to a revealing red sequin dress and thigh-high boots for her Rock This Country show in Vancouver this week.

And she appears to have taken inspiration from Tina Turner as she gave the performance all her energy and then some.

As she took to the stage, Shania was snapped belting out her biggest hits with more determination than we've seen in years.

In one outfit, the star showed off her ageless figure in a loose red dress and the high black boots - rocking blonde hair and looking completely transformed.

Another saw her slip into some tiny leather hotpants, a silver top and fishnet tights - proving numbers really do mean nothing.

This time the star gave a calmer performance as she wore her hair down and showed off her flawless complexion.

But clearly a fan of the first, she then swapped once more into red-thigh highs and a black dress, performing with her band beside her.

Keen to spread the love from afar, she's been keeping fans up to date with her tour on Instagram, uploading snaps of the racy wardrobe for all to see.

Shortly before her latest show, she simply wrote: "The calm before the storm..."

And quite the storm it was.

Shania Twain brings Vegas show to Edmonton audience at Rexall Place

By Mike Ross | Edmonton Sun | June 11, 2015 11:07 PM MDT

It was a song called Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under? that broke Shania Twain in 1995 – and what cruel irony that the song came true by the man who helped her create it.

Shania simply wouldn’t be where she is without ex-husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange, the producer famous for putting that distinctive “sheen” on Def Leppard songs and their ilk. No one had ever heard anything quite like Shania’s steroid-muscled brand of country music before – and it was a huge hit. But then Mutt cheated on her, just like in a country song, and they divorced, sending our Canadian sweetheart into a spiral of heartbreak and depression (and voice problems) that she only recently pulled out of. What a Mutt.

But she’s back! Before she goes away for good, apparently. Fresh from a two-year residency in Las Vegas, Twain brought her high gloss comeback-farewell tour to Rexall Place Thursday night for the first of two shows – her first appearance in Edmonton since 2004. The crowd gave this Canadian icon a huge response just for showing up.

So yeah, Shania’s done a lot of living since her Cinderella Story started 20 years ago - but if any of that depth of heartbreak and life experience was evident at this show, it must’ve been buried in the mounds of slick, campy production and one sugar-frosted, beefed-up, happy country-flavoured pop confection after another. If for her promised next album we’re expecting Swiftian wrath – as in Taylor Swift - with a collection of vindictive heartbreak songs, don’t bet on it. Shania knows what pays the bills. Yet while Shania’s material may lack the pain of her country music forebears, it sure is fun. From Any Man of Mine to the show-stopping encore Man! I Feel Like a Woman, these songs are diabolical in their radio-friendliness. They’re so radio-friendly they’ll follow you home. They actually sounded like an unholy fusion of Def Leppard and Reba McEntire: expertly-written catchy hooks, killer choruses and inevitable modulations to make every song not just a song, but an anthem.

Shania and her note-perfect band didn’t deviate from the script one bit. She had some fun bringing up a couple of girls from the audience to sing along with Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You), and had opening act Wes Mack up for a duet on Party for Two. That was it for special guests. If this was a travelling Vegas show, where were the dancers? Sorry, a video of hunky shirtless cowboys doesn’t cut it.

One of the precious few genuine moments came during the “unplugged” portion of the show – they always do – as she picked up an acoustic guitar for Today is Your Day, dedicated to “all of you,” while urging us to think of this particular song when we’re feeling down. Later on she also threatened to get real when she mentioned that “life sure takes us through some ups and downs.” But that was just the canned patter to introduce Up! (title track of her 2002 album), which she performed on a saddle – a saddle! - atop a crane that revolved around the arena, while “laser beams” played over the audience. A moment of pure country cheese.

That this would be a pop diva spectacular above all else was evident from the start, seeing the star – with blonde hair and sunglasses – emerge from a pit in the stage on a rising pedestal for Rock This Country. The theme would not deviate for the rest of the show. Consider the country rocked. You know what they say: you can’t take the Vegas out of the Country Girl, or something.

There are few things more campy than the spectacle of an up-and-coming country band playing around with cover songs to augment their sometimes lacklustre originals. The bigger the hit, the more embarrassing it can be – and in the case of opening act Wes Mack, making the leap from TV (Smallville, Heartland) to the big stage with middling success, he aimed high with Uptown Funk. You’d think they’d wait a respectable period of time until such a massive song drops off the hit parade, but no, and they did the whole thing, too – complete with dance moves and canned keyboards. This was, naturally, the highlight of a set otherwise laden with straight-ahead honest country rocking from the Tom Cochrane school, canned banjo notwithstanding. That has to stop, too.

Review: Twain back in the saddle with glitter and glam

By Fish Griwkowsky | Edmonton Journal | June 11, 2015 11:40 PM MDT

Review

Shania Twain

With: Wes Mack

When: Thursday night, second show Friday night

Where: Rexall Place

EDMONTON - Country music wasn’t just stuck in the mud, it was dead in the river.

Sure, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Randy Travis were making ripples, and George Strait held his torch high. But emerging from an era when Johnny Cash was playing K-Days, country needed a jolt.

Well, more specifically: explosions. Thus came Garth Brooks’ pyrotechnics — stealing tribal fire from Kiss and the working-class crown from Springsteen. And then, making stalwarts furious, floated in Shania Twain — the Ontarian who took country music global by U-turning it hard into ’80s pop, with this mutation still the biggest-selling female country singer ever, besides whatever percentage Taylor Swift counts. For a good decade and ever since, Twain and Brooks saved country music by burning it to the ground and building something flashy on the ashes.

So when Shania Twain’s flickering opening act Wes Mack bounced around at the NHL rink singing Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk a rainy Thursday night a few decades later, no one blinked an eye. And when the 49-year-old Queen of Pop Country rode a giant telescopic saddle over the crowd like a twinkling version of Gene Simmons, later spreading her arms wide in front of giant glowing cats, well, the woman had just spent two years playing Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, drawing links between her and Celine Dion forever.

Our two merciless concerns with any comeback act: sound and vision. Can she still hit the notes; how does she look?

Introduced by a canned I Love Rock N Roll, Twain followed the smoke out from behind a giant red curtain, bopping on top of a rising sparkle-girder to Rock This Country, fireworks exploding around her. Honey I’m Home, which probably should have been first, followed as she came down to earth, standing in a line with her leather-glitter seven-piece band, including two fiddlers, all short as her players always are. Twain herself was in French Riviera shades, mega high heels, thigh-high black tights, a sequined dress and a black tassled jacket. And, for the first time in her long career, Debbie Harry blond — if not more fun than previous shows (I’ve seen her play at least three times since ’98, including the infamous Grey Cup not-even-karaoke).

“We are finally together after all these years,” she said a few numbers in. “Just to be back in Canada feels great. The air is just better here.”

The first genuine moment of the show, she pulled up a couple of fans from Whitecourt (one named Shania) for Don’t Be Stupid, then was dragged around the floor in a rolling penalty box for the excellent Any Man of Mine, vanishing into the stage bowels as her band played some hokey James Bond laser jazz.

Costume change and tongues of shooting fire for Act II’s Def Leppard-dumb I’m Gonna Getcha Good!, all the flash mismatching the flat song, the faux Cajun Come on Over similarly bloodless.

Coming back to life, for Up! she rode the inarguably phallic extendo-saddle over our heads, then went acoustic for Today Is Your Day. Her most country and thus best song, No One Needs to Know, proved alluring and molten as ever, especially during its beautiful bridge. You’re Still the One got all the telephone flashlights rocking slowly, also lovely and real.

Back to the Planet Dion for From This Moment, a giant diamond commercial that would dehydrate Hank Williams into a crumbling lizard fleeing the smoke and fireworks in horror. Then came the giant laser cheetahs, inexplicable as a backdrop to That Don’t Impress Me Much except that they looked caged and bored. Look for them on Instagram.

If You’re Not In It For Love (I’m Outta Here) brought on the long, dark cheer, then the fist-pumping Man! I Feel Like a Woman.

In this free country, the screaming crowd will disagree — but it really was an uneven, often disconnected show, lost in its own glam, decadence and safe-as-stuffed-kittens microseconds of metal and exploding glitter.

Like that cold afternoon in 2002 at the Grey Cup, it was obvious what was real, what truly wasn’t.

Review: In return to Saskatoon, Shania Twain proves she's still the one

By Stephanie McKay | The StarPhoenix | June 15, 2015 12:19 AM

If you’re big enough to command a Las Vegas residency, people will expect some production value.

Shania Twain’s first tour since leaving the City of Sin, which stopped in Saskatoon Sunday night, lived up to big, glamorous expectations. The concert was all glitz, glamour, fireballs and hydraulics, with a nice dose of Twain charm.

On massive video screens, the audience’s first glimpse of the country star showed her hair whipping like a super model’s. Twain commanded more pyro than Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons, which was fitting because people missed the Game of Thrones finale to be there.

Later, she stood on a wheeled platform to dole out high fives as she sang Any Man of Mine.

If you thought that was good, she hopped on a saddle suspended way above the audience to perform the song Up! How she manages to be down to earth with all of that going on is a mystery (and a big part of why people love her so much). Twain killed it in pretty much every sense, whether she was strutting to Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under or strumming to Still the One.

She opened with the song she named her tour after, Rock This Country. The night was marked by a sense of fun sometimes lost in shows its size. She kept her band (including Moose Jaw native and multi-instrumentalist Cory Churko) close, interacting with the musicians playfully.

The Canadian country singer hasn’t released a new album since 2002, which ensured a night chock full of hits. If you couldn’t sing along to at least half of the songs you didn’t own a radio in the ’90s.

“It’s been a long time,” she said midway through the set. “I’m loving this reunion.”

The night’s opener (and Calgary native) Wes Mack joined her for the fun and cheesy Party For Two.

Just when the show verged on dragging Twain busted out a new kind of firework and performed a stunning rendition of From This Moment On, which showcased vocals that haven’t faltered since her heyday.

There are rumours this is Twain’s last tour. There’s probably not a higher note she could go out on unless she literally wanted to burn the place down.

Mack’s opening set was made up of a handful of songs indistinguishable from most modern country, but he was a perfectly serviceable act. He and his band were enthusiastic, even attempting a cover of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk. Sadly the funk was not with them. It felt like a cheap ploy to get people’s attention. He’s no Shania, but he’s got decades to try to reach that level.

What Time Does Shania go on Stage?

Sorry if this has been asked before. There are so many messages. I read that the show starts at 7:30 - that seems early. Does Wes Mak go on right at 7:30? I am hoping Shania will not go on before 9pm in Toronto - Murphy's Law - I have other plans just before and I don't think I can get to the venue until 9.

Thanks!

p.s. I really hope Shania goes back to being a FABULOUS Brunette soon!

Winnipeg concert reviews:

Even after 11-year stage absence, Twain still flawless

By Erin Lebar | Winnipeg Free Press | June 15, 2015

Concert review

Shania Twain

June 15, MTS Centre

Attendance: 12,000

4 stars

It hardly seems possible that Shania Twain hasn’t been on tour for more than eleven years and hasn’t released a new album since 2002’s Up! She is one of those faces and voices that just seems omnipresent regardless of how long she’s been out of the limelight.

The last few years have been busy for Twain, though, as she just wrapped up a two-year residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in December, is almost done a new album that’s expected to be out in October and has just started the first of her two-leg North American Rock This Country tour that consists of 67 performances in less than five months.

Twain has said she’s ready to "hang up her hat" in regards to touring, and that Rock This Country will be her last. If that is indeed the case, she is going out with a bang.

Perhaps in homage to that recent stay in Vegas, an impressive array of lights, lasers and fire were aplenty right from the get go. Opening the night with the tour namesake Rock This Country, Twain, clad in a sparkly red dress and fringed leather jacket, rose out of the ground on a glowing column. Not two minutes into the song, the literal fireworks had already started.

From there, Twain launched into the classic Honey I’m Home, complete with more fireworks and a sold-out crowd of die-hard fans singing along to every word.

Twain looks and sounds just as you would expect her to — near flawless. She’s an absolutely stunning presence on stage and her vocals were always on point. In a 19-song set, she barely broke a sweat.

There’s a certain expectation for someone who has being doing this as long as Twain has, and she has certainly surpassed it. She has kept her down-home Canadian charm, thanking the fans multiple times for sticking with her for the long haul, and they in turn thanked her with an almost tangible volume of cheers.

As the opening lines of Don’t Be Stupid, You Know I Love You sang out, the shrieks of pure joy and inevitable foot stomping shook the room. And things only got louder from there, as the most classic-Shania of all classic-Shania songs, Any Man of Mine, brought the entire crowd to their feet.

Caddied around in a glass cube-like platform, the queen of Canadian country made her way around the floor of the arena shaking hands and kissing babies (OK, maybe not that last thing), before arriving back on the main stage to do her first costume change of the night.

Returning to a stage with flames bursting from the ground, Twain began a four-song spree of some of her most popular hits including I’m Gonna Getcha Good, Come On Over, Party for Two and Up!, during which she was literally raised up on a saddle-esque seat as multi-coloured lasers sliced through the room. This ain’t her first rodeo —Twain knows how to do arena tours right.

A definite highlight of the night was a three-song acoustic set about midway through the set. She grabbed her guitar and serenaded the enthralled audience with Today is Your Day, No One Needs to Know and You’re Still the One. While her upbeat hits are all well and good, it’s the stripped-down acoustic songs that really showcase her vocal prowess. Her delicate country twang, the intricacies of her runs, the power of her upper range — it’s all wonderful.

To close out the night, Twain indulged in a one-song encore of Man, I Feel Like a Woman, because let's be serious, there really isn't the option to not sing that song. As the belts of "Oh oh oh" rang loud and clear, it's obvious this live experience is bittersweet for fans as they help Twain say goodbye to her touring career. But for those who aren’t ready to let go quite yet, she makes another stop in Winnipeg during the second leg of her Rock This Country tour on Sept. 20.

Opener Wes Mack is the second guitar-wielding red-headed man to take the MTS Centre stage in less than a week, but as my concert companion noted, Mack is "no Ed Sheeran." It’s his first tour of this size (which is understandable considering he has only just released his first four-song EP) and his inexperience in an arena setting showed almost instantly. His voice consistently struggled in the lower registers of his set full of pop-country tunes, each song falling a little flat. Mack has a decent amount of stage presence, and is personable to be sure, but that isn’t enough to make a memorable performance.

Shania's still the one they want

By Darryl Sterdan, Postmedia Network | Winnipeg Sun | June 15, 2015

Turns out you can go big AND go home.

Don’t believe me? Just ask any one of the 12,000 or so fans who took in Shania Twain’s Rock This Country Tour stop at MTS Centre on Monday. They witnessed it first-hand — in all its oversized, over-the-top glory.

And that’s just how it should have been. After all, the 49-year-old country-pop superstar just spent two years working the big room on the Vegas strip. So you would expect her first Canadian trek in eons (and perhaps last, if you buy the hype) to be a Sin City-sized extravaganza of glitz, glamour, grandeur and gizmos — with a side of good-ole-gal humility, of course.

Twain, bless her heart, did not disappoint. Making an entrance fit for a headliner (or perhaps a horror movie starlet), the recently blond bombshell — clad in a spangly red minidress, black-fringed biker jacket, shades and thigh-high leather boots — rose from beneath the fog-shrouded stage on a massive metallic platform, belting out the tour’s title track as fireworks blasted away and huge lighting rigs rose and fell, bathing the audience in swirling shafts of red and white.

That was just the start. As Twain and her septet (including two fiddlers and a pedal-stell player) worked their way through her list of hits — Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under, I’m Gonna Getcha Good!, You’re Still the One, That Don’t Impress Me Much, Man! I Feel Like a Woman! and more — every song included its own little bit of crazy: Fireworks and pyro here, shirtless cowboys dancing on video screens there, the musicians’ multi-tiered platforms moving everywhere. During Any Man of Mine, she was wheeled around the arena in a Plexiglas-walled Shaniamobile with lighted floor; for Up!, she rode a saddle on out over the crowd on a telescoping arm while laser beams darted about. And of course, she sported a series of sparkly, saucy outfits (though not as many as expected).

It wasn’t a non-stop parade of excess, however. Songs like I Ain’t No Quitter brought some traditional country swing to the mix. The mandatory mid-set acoustic section made things a little more intimate. And between songs, Twain chatted about how happy she was to be in Canada and how much fun she was having and how she’s really just regular folk like us.

Except she does things just a little bigger.

Review: Shania Twain proves to Winnipeg she’s still the one

By Elisha Dacey | Metro Winnipeg | June 16, 2015

Shania Twain – Rock This Country! Tour

MTS Centre, Monday, June 15, 2015

3.5 stars out of five

Vegas rubbed off on Shania Twain. A lot.

A sold-out, mostly female crowd cheered and sang their way through the Canadian country songstress’ litany of hits at MTS Centre Monday night.

More pyrotechnics than a Nickelback concert and a seriously blazing (and at times seizure-inducing) light show brought the crowd repeatedly to its feet, but it was Shania who kept them there.

The superstar started her first set of her Rock This Country tour like any solid rock star – rising out of the stage on a platform to tower over the crowd, dressed in a pink sparkly… dress? Long shirt? Whatever – and thigh-high boots, pink aviators and a whole lot of Joan Jett attitude. The stage was a bombardment of video screens and risers and lights, making up, perhaps, for the lack of any kind of choreography.

But who cares? The crowd wasn’t there to see her dance. And lord, Shania knows how to own a stage. She could teach a number of young starlets about presence.

Unfortunately, her normally unstoppable alto wasn’t quite there for the first third of the set, and we can blame the lousy sound engineering. The mic cut out and gave feedback at least twice that I noticed, and her voice was often drowned out by the music (four guitars, two fiddlers, piano, drums…) throughout the entire show. Someone fire the sound guy.

Shania relied heavily on her litany of hits, of course, as she doesn’t have the back catalogue other superstars have. The show was divided into three parts to accommodate costume changes, although they were all in the same theme – sparkles, thigh boots, off the shoulder tops (including a sparkly men’s shirt and short skirt – ha! I get it, girl.)

The weirdest part of the show came for Up – straddling what at first I thought was a mechanical bull, instead it was simply a saddle on a horizontal crane that slowly lifted her and spun her in a slow circle. Oh… kay.

As is with most singers who can actually sing, it was the three-song acoustic set in the middle, followed by From This Moment, that proved the true highlight of the show. This is the Shania we remember, and she is still the one.

Sadly, Shania loses half a star for the fake encore. She also loses half a star for her lack of any kind of witty banter. She repeated herself numerous times – “I’m so glad to be here, I’m so glad to be in Winnipeg, I’m so glad to be in Canada, I’m so glad I’m back.” We get it. You’re glad. So are we. Please keep singing!

She saved the song that made her a mega-star for the encore – Man, I Feel Like a Woman, and you know when the drunk guys behind you scream that part of the song out, you’ve got ‘em good.

Set list:

  1. Rock This Country!
  2. Honey, I’m Home
  3. You Win My Love
  4. Who’s Bed Have Your Boots Been Under
  5. I Ain’t No Quitter
  6. Love Gets Me Every Time
  7. Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I love You)
  8. Any Man of Mine
  9. I’m Gonna Getcha Good!
  10. Come On Over
  11. Party For Two
  12. Up
  13. Today Is Your Day
  14. No One Needs to Know
  15. You’re Still The One
  16. From This Moment On
  17. That Don’t Impress Me Much
  18. (If You’re Not in it for Love) I’m Outta Here!
  19. Encore: Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Hot Ticket: Shania still the one to rock Bud

By James Reaney | The London Free Press | June 17, 2015

Shania Twain looks set to bring some of that Vegas fun and craziness to Budweiser Gardens on Friday and Saturday.

Postmedia Network colleague Darryl Sterdan covered Twain in Winnipeg, the Rock This Country tour’s stop before the Canadian superstar plays the downtown London arena.

Said Sterdan: “The 49-year-old country-pop superstar just spent two years working the big room on the Vegas strip. So you would expect her first Canadian trek in (and perhaps last, if you buy the hype) to be a Sin City-sized extravaganza of glitz, glamour, grandeur and gizmos — with a side of good-ole-gal humility, of course.

“Twain, bless her heart, did not disappoint.”

Hits followed — and the Shaniamobile took the star around the arena floor.

There is a taste of what’s shaking the arena on the weekend.

Wes Mack is also on the bill.

Tickets are $59, $89, $116 & $179 ($1 donation to Shania Kids Can), plus applicable charges. Visit budweisergardens.com or call 1-866-455-2849.

Concert time is 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Country-pop icon Shania Twain plays Budweiser Gardens this weekend

By James Reaney | The London Free Press | June 18, 2015

Just as Canadian superstar Shania Twain returns to downtown London, a promoter who knew her when she was Eilleen Twain is marketing a rebooted DVD and CD of the singer’s early days.

Nick Panaseiko, of Ingersoll, and the project’s production team has repackaged a 37-minute DVD documentary, including Twain vocal footage, with revisited songs on the accompanying CD. The Discovery of Eilleen Twain is under the Panaseiko project Vegas North brand.

It helps document a legendary era of Vegas-style entertainment at Huntsville’s Deerhurst Inn when a little known singer — Eilleen (later Shania) Twain — was in the cast of a show called Viva Vegas.

The CD has been reworked to go “with the real beginnings” of Twain’s style, Panaseiko said Thursday. Previously it was known as the The Complete Limelight Sessions. Now, the music reflects the young Twain’s early work with singer, songwriter, producer and guitarist Paul Sabu.

“They sound different,” Panaseiko said of the difference from the Limelight material. The reworked CD has the songs “Paul co-wrote with her.”

Panaseiko, 69, has been part of the London music scene since the 1960s.

The Discovery of Eilleen Twain DVD includes video of cast performances from the Vegas show at Deerhurst as well as interviews with resort owner Bill Waterhouse, Panaseiko and others. There is also footage of the pre-Shania Twain performing Somewhere Out There and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Panaseiko was working at the Deerhurst in publicity and entertainment sales in the 1980s.

Twain, from Timmins, joined the Deerhurst cast late in the 1980s.

He remembers Twain stopping the show in its tracks with her voice and stage presence, Panaseiko told Postmedia Network when promoting an earlier version of the package.

“You could see the future stardom,” said Panaseiko. “Our paths crossed and I received a cassette to listen to some of her music,” he told Postmedia Network. “The next time we met was on stage when the (Deerhurst Vegas) show closed (in 1989).”

As Shania Twain, she soon became a pop country star, selling more than 75 million records around the world and blazing a trail for the likes of Taylor Swift. When Twain was preparing for Las Vegas in 2011, she looked back to her Deerhurst days.

“It educated me. When it was time to put together my show in Vegas, all that dazzle wasn’t foreign to me. I was familiar with the whole feel of a big stage show because of my being there. It was like a mini Vegas — or like attending a Vegas performing arts school,” Twain said in media material quoted in the DVD/CD promotional package.

Deerhurst’s theatre and stage face demolition this summer.

Meanwhile, Shania Twain headlines at Budweiser Gardens on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

London shows Shania the love

CONCERT REVIEW: It was a little bit London and a whole lot of Vegas as Shania Twain rocked the Bud Friday

By James Reaney | The London Free Press | June 19, 2015 10:04 PM EDT

There was no stopping that bold and beautiful Twain from Vegas as it rolled through Budweiser Gardens Friday night.

As expected Canadian superstar Shania Twain arrived to huge cheers from about 8,900 fans treated to massive effects that wouldn’t have been out of place in Vegas.

Arrival like a goddess of glitz? Twain was lofted from centre stage on a lift to tower on a hydraulic high during the opener, Rock This Country.

Pyro? At least three blasts during the opener, with smoke from one blast temporarily obscuring Twain in her tower.

There was more pyro on either side of the singer, who was back on the stage by this time, for the second song, Honey, I’m Home.

Twain is back on the road after stepping away from touring and performed 105 show in her two-year Las Vegas residency, Shania: Still The One. It opened in December 2012 at Caesars Palace and wound up in December, 2014.

Now, she is back with her fans on a big arena tour.

“It’s been a long time,” a Postmedia Network report said she told her fans in Saskatoon. “I’m loving this reunion.”

Twain’s first tour since leaving Las Vegas has been praised by Postmedia Network for its “glitz, glamour, fireballs and hydraulics.”

When she was last at the downtown London arena in the 2000s, Twain had a Shania silhouette that had thousands looking toward it while the star suddenly emerged from another part of the staging.

This time, the audience’s first glimpse of the star had big video screen images of her in various outfits with her hair whipping in the breeze.

She still knows how to make an entrance. On Friday, she showed a fabulous mane of blonde hair and wore shades to add a touch of mystery. The shades were soon being held in her hand and Twain was looking out on the big and happy crowd.

Twain has multi-platinum album sales in 32 countries with more than 75 million albums sold, and 17 top 10 singles. Three of Twain’s albums (The Woman In Me, Come On Over, Up! ) reached diamond certification, so she is billed as the only artist to have three consecutive albums sell more than 10 million copies in the US.

Twain is back at the downtown London arena for the second of two back-to-back dates on Saturday.

Her debut album was a self-titled 1993 hit. Four years later, Come On Over became the best-selling country album of all time, and best-selling album by a female artist.

Reports from Postmedia Network have her hopping on a saddle suspended way above the audience to perform Up!

That puts her in the company of Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber and Sarah Brightman who also took to the air over the arena floor while soaring over the fans for a song or two.

“This is a celebration tour. It’s party time. The Rock This Country tour will have a different spirit than my past tours,” Twain said in pre-tour media material. “It’s a Shania they’ve never seen before. A lot of years have gone by and I’ve got a lot more to share.”

Opening for Twain in London is Calgary-raised Wes Mack.

Mack — under his actor ID of Wesley MacInnes — is known for a recurring role in the CBC drama Heartland, where he plays country musician Austin Mars.

Maybe that explains the Friday night digression when Mack put down his guitar and asked permission to “funk things up.”

That was the cue for Mack and band to spend time moving around with Uptown Funk and wasn’t that a hit for . . . Bruno Mars? Coincidence, etc.

As Wes Mack, he is the up-and coming singer touring with Twain until later this month. Mack released his major label debut single, Before You Drive Me Crazy, earlier this year.

*Updated article (11:27 PM EDT)

There was no stopping that bold and beautiful Twain from Las Vegas as it rolled through Budweiser Gardens Friday night.

By the time Shania Twain made her final descent via a centre stage elevator to huge cheers from about 8,900 fans, everyone had been treated to massive effects that wouldn’t have been out of place in Vegas.

Arrive like a goddess of glitz? Twain was lofted from centre stage on a lift to tower on a hydraulic high during the opener, Rock This Country.

Pyro? There was pyromania all night long with three blasts or more in the opener and many more over the 90-minute plus of of the concert. The blazing encore was Man! I Feel Like a Woman! That had the advantage of the hottest guitar riff in the whole Shania songbook and Twain’s slinkiest outfit of the night, from the Beyonce-meets-Cher wardrobe.

It also had the best fist-pumps and waves from the charismatic star — and the best singalong, shoutalong from the fans.

A huge fan — the kind you need when the flames of Vegas stage magic eat up the arena oxygen — was seen at the back of the action. Maybe it was for show. Still, Twain’s unforgettable blondish mane seemed to shimmer as if in a breeze as she and her fans celebrated the megahit.

There had been many Vegas touches to go with such Twain hits as Up! and Any Man of Mine.

“It’s been 11 years since I’ve been on tour,” Twain said, thanking the fans for being there when she returned. She vowed to get closer to those Twain folks in the upper levels. That was the cue for her to get Up! there, mounted on a saddle boosted by a big hydraulic ladder.

Twain was on ground level around the time for Any Man Of Mine. Stage crew propelled the Shaniamobile — which looked like a cross between a Zamboni and a big go-kart — around the edge of the crowd on the floor.

That meant countless photo ops for phones and a long pause for selfies.

Twain is back on the road after performing 105 shows in her two-year Las Vegas residency, Shania: Still The One. It opened in December 2012 at Caesars Palace and wound up in December 2014.

Now, she is back, reconnecting with her all-ages fans on a big arena tour. “This song is like an old friend. It’s still around and You’re Still The One, London,” Twain said as she introduced the final song in a sweet unplugged section of the show.

That is where some of her fans let her down. Apparently unaware the star had taken up a guitar, settled down and her excellent band was there with her, some fans kept talking loudly during the personal Twain songs in the unplugged set.

That can’t be right. When a singer talks about how songwriting is “therapy” and hopes the good feelings she’s found can be shared, that would — or should — command respect. And this is Shania Twain up there with more than 75 million albums sold, and 17 Top 10 singles.

Twain is back at the downtown London arena for the second of two back-to-back dates on Saturday. Maybe that crowd will listen with enthusiastic respect. Twain’s personal songs deserve it. End of sermon.

Twain had Calgary-raised singer Wes Mack, who opened the show, come out for a mid-set duet in Party For Two.

Twain sweetly urged fans to welcome a “fellow Canadian” and called Mack a “cutie.” The duet mood was spoiled by shrill feedback sounds, a time when the Vegas magic and production was undercut by old-time audio problems. There were also heavenly chorales at various points that seemed be Twain tracks of a different sort.

There has been buzz about this being Twain’s final tour. The energy and sheer fun of such hits as I’m Gonna Getcha Good and That Don’t Impress Me Much Friday suggest this Twain won’t stop rolling anytime soon.

Shania Twain at Budweiser Gardens

By Trent Richer / Concert Reviews / June 21, 2015

Budweiser keeps bringing us the icons! Especially Canadian Icons! They have hosted some of the best concerts I’ve seen and they set the bar even higher on June 19th, 2015. Outside the venue, the lineups started early. The tour buses and trailers occupied a large portion of Budweiser’s parking lot which made me think the staging was going to be massive. I was right.

Shania Twain is back on tour and doing it larger than life. But don’t think this lady has been doing nothing for the last few years! She has not been touring since 2004; however, she just wrapped up a two year residency at Caesars Palace in Vegas. Now she is hitting the trail for her “Rock This Country” tour. There are 67 performances in five months.  A new album is almost completed, and rumor has it that it will be available this October.

Shania Twain has announced that this will be her swan song when it comes to touring; however she told “Rolling Stone Country” that she has “so many other things to do musically”. Hopefully this will be like The Who’s farewell tour (which has lasted how many years?) and we will see more of her! If not, she is showing how big a SHOW can be. This evening had all the glitz and glamour of a Vegas show but she still retains her girl next door personality. A perfect Yin Yang! This show is a Vegas 15 out of 10!

It was no surprise that Budweiser was rammed to the rafters with fans on this first of her two nights’ appearance. The crowd was predominantly young female which shows that Shania and her music has crossed a generation. They were all here to see the legend that changed country music.

The evening started with the song, “Rock This Country”, same name as the tour. Twain erupted from the stage sporting blonde hair and sunglasses. Clad in a fringed leather jacket, a red sequin dress and a matching red metallic microphone, Shania was ready to rock out her Country Classics. She had more screens, props, dry ice, fireworks, lasers and pyro than a KISS show.

Considering Shania hasn’t toured in several years, I’m sure many were wondering, ‘what is she going to look like? what will she sound like? can she still hit the notes?’. The answer is YES! She still has it! She looked great and sounded great.

The opening song was followed by fiddle-featured song “Honey, I’m Home”. The show was ramping up and it was only just starting. Everyone was on their feet, singing, dancing, and in some cases, screaming. Next up were “You Win My Love”, “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under”, “I Ain’t No Quitter” and “Love Gets Me Every Time”.  Hit after hit. The evening was packed with all the songs you wanted to hear.

After “Don’t Be Stupid”, Shania gave everyone high fives from the stage and then jumped into a glass cart and was wheeled around the arena. While Shania was zipping around the arena singing “Any Man of Mine” the band shot down the catwalk to a mini stage at the end of the walkway. Naturally everyone had their phones out to grab some awesome photos of the band.

Then the band went into the first of three instrumentals giving Shania Twain time for a costume change. She reentered for “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” with video images of flames to match the pyro happenings. It was like the heat of an oven when they went off. The pillar flames shot up to the ceiling while the fan shaped ones made a wall of fire on the stage.

One of the many scene changes was next for “Come On Over”. There was a large picture frame projected on the background and her live image was inside the frame.  Simple but effective!

The opener for the evening, Wes Mack, joined Shania for the duet “Party For Two”. She introduced him as “Wes Mack, Isn’t he a cutie?” He seemed really energetic and the two of them have wonderful on stage chemistry. It kinda reminded me of the young Bryan Adams/Tina Turner duet.

Just when you might have wondered, ‘what’s next?’, Shania walked toward a saddle that appeared on a crane in centre stage. She strapped herself on the saddle and said it’s all getting better and there is nowhere to go other than up from here! The crane rose up from the stage to lift Shania about the height of the second level (balcony) seats. It extended out over the crowd and did a 360 so everyone in the stands could get a little closer look while she sang “Up”.

Next there was a three song acoustic segment. The first song “Today Is Your Day” was introduced telling us that this was written about six years ago when she was feeling down. She told us that she usually writes when she feels crappy to feel better. While this was happening the background looking like a wall with large lights or shapes with candles in them. This gave the appearance of an old movie house. The front curtain came down to frame the band members, who were all in a row with their acoustic instruments. “No One Needs to Know” picked up the pace a bit with a sing-a-long. The last of the acoustics she played was “You’re Still the One”. She said this song is like an old friend. It was interesting hearing all these emotional and heartfelt stories but sometimes it was a bit hard to hear her speak over all the cheering from the fans.

There was another instrumental, and more outfit changes! “From This Moment On” had these mesmerizing digital images of mirrored leopards, projected on the background. A burst of fireworks finished off “That Don’t Impress Me Much”. Her vocals were strong, on key and full of emotion, all night long. Her performance and the show were both perfect tens!

The closer of the set was “(If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!” It was cool to see both guitarists on either side of the stage playing slide, like bookends. One on a dobro and the other a Flying V. Can’t say I have ever seen someone play upright slide on a flying V like a dobro. Having the pair of telecasters in the centre of these guys looked great!

After the stomps and screams of the fans for a return, the band was back for the last instrumental that sounded like Country metal meets Pink Floyd.  Then the guitarist launched the favorite riff in Twains catalogue, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman”. The last costume was a form fitting metal highlight. She wore a black leather bodysuit, thigh high black boots, fishnet stockings and long black gloves.  With a final bang red and silver metallic flakes fell from the roof and with a final thank you to the fans, one of the most entertaining 90 min+ shows came to end.

We would like to give a special thank you to Marcy Redmond and Budweiser Gardens for another evening of exceptional country music and country fun!

Shania is ready to rock Hamilton

Hamilton Spectator | June 22, 2015

Country superstar Shania Twain returns to Hamilton Monday night for the first time in 12 years, bringing her "Rock This Country" tour to the FirstOntario Centre where a near-sellout crowd of more than 14,000 people is expected.

The Timmins, Ont., native has said that this tour will be her final one.

Twain last performed in Hamilton in 2003 when she took over Copps Coliseum for three weeks rehearsing for her hugely successful Up! Tour. The show Twain put on at Copps that year still holds the venue's attendance record of 18,573.

Shania Twain proves she’s 'still the one' at Hamilton show

By Graham Rockingham | Hamilton Spectator | June 23, 2015

Shania Twain didn't come to Hamilton's FirstOntario Centre with any new songs Monday night, but she brought a whole lot of WOW.

Twain opened the show rising from beneath the stage through a thick carpet of smoke atop a steel pedestal, her new blond hairdo framing rose-tinted aviator glasses, her legs sheathed in fishnets and thigh-high black boots below a red sequined minidress.

Lights flashed and fireworks exploded as her crack seven-piece band roared into "Rock This Country," the theme song for Twain's first tour in 11 years.

The more than 14,000 fans in the near-sold out audience rose to their feet. Many stayed standing for the rest of the show. The plan was to give them a spectacle they wouldn't forget. And Shania delivered.

The 49-year-old native of Timmins, Ont., was in control for the entire 100-minute concert, her voice as strong as ever. It was if the 11-year hiatus had never happened.

From there it was one hit after, 19 in all, plus five costume changes — including an elegant black gown in which she sang the wedding anthem "From This Moment On — and enough pyrotechnics and laser light sprays to impress even a hardcore Nickelback fan.

The crowd pleasers included "Honey I'm Home," "I'm Gonna Getcha Good," "That Don't Impress Me Much," "I'm Outta Here," and the encore "Man! I Feel Like a Woman."

She hopped into a little glass-sided wagon and was wheeled around the arena while singing "Any Man of Mine" and reaching out to make contact with her adoring audience. Cheesy, but effective.

After singing the "Party for Two" duet with opening act Wes Mack, Shania told the crowd she fondly remembered the last time she played Hamilton in September, 2003. The arena was then called Copps Coliseum and it's where she kicked off her Up tour.

"We did our rehearsals right here in Hamilton, a great place to start," she said. "It's great to be in Canada again. It's great to be home. It's been a long time coming and there's no place to go but up from here."

At that moment, she hopped onto a large saddle that was attached to a telescopic crane that rose out of the stage and sent her circling out over the crowd. And, yes, she was singing "Up." Again — cheesy, but effective.

Ironically, the highlight of the show was a three-song acoustic set, stripped of all the glitzy gimmickry, just her on a stool strumming a guitar under a single spotlight, her band in darkness behind her. The set culminated in a beautiful rendition of "Still the One."

At the start of the tour, Shania announced it would be her last. We've heard that from artists before. The Who in 1982, for instance. So it's hard to take her seriously.

There's talk of a new album in the works, fresh new songs. This time around, Shania was content to give the fans what they wanted, the classics that made her most successful female act in country music, selling more than 75 million albums.

But it's hard to believe that Shania would not want to showcase a new album with a new road show, especially when she's so good at it.
