It’s going to be a big year for Shania Twain. Not only is the legendary country singer hitting the road for her final tour this June, but she is also turning 50 in 2015!
Twain will head out on the Rock This Country tour — which kicks off on June 5 in Seattle — just two months before she turns the big 5-0! But even though she has a milestone birthday on the horizon, she’s not worried about leaving her 40s behind.
“I feel fine,” Twain tells Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex about her big birthday, which is August 28. “I’m happy. Well I’m going on tour. I’m going to be on tour when I turn 50, so I feel like I’m going out of my 40s with a bang and celebrating throughout the summer with the tour.”
“I think it’s just a very invigorating way to go into my 50s and it’s a great way to stay fit ‘cause I really work my butt off out there,” adds the star. “It’s my workout and I couldn’t think of a more fun way to workout as a 50-year-old.”
Some 50-somethings lose touch with popular music as they age, but not Twain. She’s got a whole list of new artists she’s loving these days.
“I love Kelly Clarkson’s new song. I love ‘Take Me to Church’ by Hozier, which is really cool and new. Sia is a great voice that I’d never heard until this year and love her … and I love her as a songwriter. There’s just a lot of really great things. Sam Smith is amazing. John Legend is amazing,” Twain reveals. “I’m loving the singers right now. There’s a lot of good singers.”
