POOR ME is now available for download in iTunes and Spotify. It was totally different from Chainsmoker's Don't Let Me Down. OMG, the song is incredible!

Hrm I do not see Poor Me on any of the streaming services :-/

With that said... I have been lucky to hear the 12 songs from the non-deluxe version and I cried, I laughed, I felt like I could take on the world and I also felt like I did the first time I heard "Whose Bed..." The difference to me in all of these songs, is it's Shania, all Shania, like for the first time we are getting to know her the person and not Shania the Queen of Country Pop yadda yadda. I've noticed since her divorce how open she has become and how social media and her personality is just so... bouncy and happy. The album conveys this in ever aspect.

"You Can't Buy Love" is a very different Shania song in my mind and I absolutely love it. I also feel this is the most country she has sounded in quite some time. There are some major country hits on this record which is interesting, we shall see how they react but honestly, I don't care, nor does she.

I also am curious what the release is going to look like... LATGG video still out there somewhere to be released? Swingin video happening now, Poor Me coming out... Different for sure, but one thing's for sure, Shania has always been different and it always works out, so cheers to the next successful chapter in her career.

I'm so excited to have been a fan for so long and see this journey and now get to participate in the anticipation with everyone, it's very exciting!

"Poor Me" should be available everywhere by tonight.

I guess she is releasing "Poor Me" as a promo track. "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed" has been announced as the next official single which will probably be released in September and sent to radio ahead of the NOW September 29 release date. Expect another promo track to be released in August.

While listening to "Who's Gonna Be Your Girl" chorus I can't help but imagine Shania singing it moving her hand in that particular way she uses... the rhythm fits perfectly with that gesture.
Anyway, I can't waiiiitttt to hear "Poor Me".

You can download POOR ME through iTunes Store. It cost me 45 Philippine peso or less than 1 USD. Just type "Poor Me Shania Twain" and their will be two available downloads from Now and Now(Deluxe).

Yeah she definitely can't release it on Country Radio and that is maybe the reason why she released it as a promo single.
It's everything but Country. I'm not a fan of electronic music at all but this sounds great. The chorus won't leave my mind so easily.

one of the best songs she has recorded !!😲😲 i notice something about Shania fans being so diverse with different tastes. Those who are more fans of her country sound are not crazy about her pop leaning music and vice versa, i am a fan of all her styles and think this song is amazing. It has the best potential to attract new fans with the fresh sound

I listen to it, Pure pop, Different but good. When she releases it to ITunes can radio stations play it or does a record label have to send the song to radio? Anyone know how that works

The label has to send it to radio. If it's sent at all since it's a promo track.

I hope it gets the radio play it deserves. This song has lots of potential, and yes its more POP than country if anything. But it sounds good. I personally like the "This... and...That" chorus part. Very catchy, and grows on you with each listen.

"Poor Me" definitely more mainstream than LATGG.

Too bad I can't get that Chainsmokers song out of my head...lol is it just me?

Surprisingly enough, the chainsmoker song no longer lingers in my head while I listen to this song... well maybe the first 10 seconds before she starts singing.

Shania is actually correct how diverse her NOW album is. Given the chance to listen to short clips of her songs Home Now, Whose Gonna Be Your Girl?, Soldier and studio version of Swingin' With My Eyes Closed, and now Poor Me, which was just released as another marketing strategy for her upcoming album, she will definitely acquire more fans because in the track list, you will surely have your own favorites. 😁 Why is September so far yet? hehehe.

Poor Me Lyrics. - This is a definitely a direct hit to Mutt and Marie, and a hurtful one for Shania.

"Poor Me"

Found it in his closet
Right behind the lies
I wish I never saw it
The secret in his eyes

Poor, poor me

He never told me how long
I'd been living in the dark
No one turned the light on
I fell and broke my heart

Poor, poor me
Po-or me

Poor me this
Poor me that
Why do I keep looking back?
Poor me this
Poor me that
It's not white, it's not black

Gray's the color
That I see
Still can't believe
He'd leave me
To love her

Poor, poor me
Another

Tried to face it
But so far down inside
I just can't shake it
My stupid pride

Poor, poor me
Po-or me

Poor me this
Poor me that
Why do I keep looking back?
Poor me this
Poor me that
It's not white, it's not black

Gray's the color
That I see
Still can't believe
He'd leave me
To love her

Poor, poor me
Another

I know it should get better
Oh, but it never does
I wish he'd never met her
Then everything would be the way it was

Poor me this
Poor me that

Poor me this
Poor me that

Poor me this
Poor me that
Why do I keep looking back?
Poor me this
Poor me that
It's not white, it's not black

Gray's the color
That I see
Still can't believe
He'd leave me
To love her

Poor, poor me
Poor, poor me
Another

Poor me is interesting. I could see it succeeding on radio. I'm curious Johanna's thoughts. Or how much she is involved in their life with them living in the bahamas and her in switzerland.

After listening to PM tonight, I find it extremely different that what I've ever heard Shania do before. Not bad. But I definitely would have liked it if it had more country flare to it, for the lyrics are definitely good for a country song. I'm not sure where this would even fit on radio. Country wouldn't play it, but maybe some adult contemporary would tackle it. I think Shania's vocals on here are extremely rich and velvety. She definitely has worked really hard and this song shows some of her most diverse and interesting vocals I've ever heard. I'd be curious to see if Shania could even reproduce this in a live setting without a backing track. I think this is a great song, and this definitely helps with the lyrics! I think we are seeing Shania not cater to country radio. She is really going for a much broader fan base. I'm not sure this will be released as a single to AC radio, but I do think it could bring her a top 20, if not top 10 hit.

This song is a situation where it would be interesting to have a country version à la "Up!" because singing wise, it would fits well in the country radio but music wise it is very pop. I agree that you'd find this song in adult contemporary.

Do you know what? I didn't dislike the song at first, but I didn't love it either. It just wasn't what I was expecting. But also, if you were to ask me what I was expecting, I guess I wouldn't be able to answer that question either. Do you guys find that this song could kinda be a continuation of "Don't" but with a modern touch to it? I find her vocals to be kinda similar, along with the paste of the song.

I think PM is exactly what Shania meant when she described NOW "raw and dark".
Her vocals, the lyrics, the sound, everything is quite dark. The song is receiving mixed feedbacks. Somebody wishes it to be country, others love it. It's that kinda song you love or hate, no in betweens.
I find it more mature than LATGG, and to me "Life" is a great song.
I agree with those who say there won't be a song like the others on this album. And I can see what she meant when she said it's kinda schyzophenic musically.

Shania Twain Talks New Song 'Poor Me': It's 'Feeling Sorry for Myself'

Downcast tune appears on Twain's forthcoming album 'Now,' out September 29th

By Jon Freeman | Rolling Stone | July 21, 2017

When Shania Twain shared the track listing for her long-awaited new album Now, it was accompanied by a melodic snippet of guitar that sounded remarkably similar to the Chainsmokers' smash "Don't Let Me Down." The guitar in question is actually part of the downcast new song "Poor Me," which – Chainsmokers resemblance aside – is just one example of the musical and emotional range of Now.

"I've got happy moments, I've got sad moments," Twain tells Rolling Stone Country of the collection. "And I had to decide what I wanted the album to be. And I wanted the diversity of emotions in there, so I had to basically pull out things that were leaning the balance any one direction too much."

The lead single from Now (and still the focus for radio purposes) is the thumping "Life's About to Get Good," which married a four-on-the-floor beat to some gospel-style harmonies and relentless optimism in the face of adversity. "Poor Me," on the other hand, allows Twain to embrace self-pity for a few minutes. "Poor me this, poor me that / Why do I keep looking back," she sings, explicitly referencing a romantic betrayal as a skittering trip-hop beat and buzzing synths amplify the unease. Then, in classic country wordplay tradition, she flips the title phrase: "Still can't believe he'd leave me to love her / So pour me, another."

"That's the farthest side of feeling really sorry for myself, you know, in life, and I've been there many times in my life over various things," says Twain. "To me, [that song] was the epitome of that emotion."

Now is scheduled for release on September 29th and will be available in both 12-track and 16-track deluxe editions.

The more I listen to this, the more I like it. It's so refreshing musically and melodically, but also has that surrealness in the lyrics. Does anyone know music theory to figure out what jet she sings this in? It sounds like a minor and definitely sounds like a mixture of major and minor chords.

Shania Twain describes the pathos of new song ‘Poor Me’

Release of new lyric video for the song gives another taste of sound and emotion within the upcoming album.

By Tresa Patterson | Blasting News | July 21, 2017

Shania Twain is opening the spigot of her personal and creative generosity to faithful fans. The multi talented, multimillion platinum-selling singer-songwriter proved that she still had all her performance chops when she swayed, jumped, and moved down the ‘Today’ show runway last month. Less than two weeks ago, she let fans savor the full track listing for “Now,” her first full album of all-new music that is set for release on September 29. The country music icon has been more than candid and revealing that this collection of songs will have deeper range, and at times, a more melancholy tone than any past Shania Twain record.

As an artist and as a woman, Shania Twain has been on an excruciating journey to emotional and physical healing that she never expected to take.

Nonetheless, she regained exuberance for life and found love again. That full cycle of emotions rings through the three album tracks heard thus far from the album. The just-released lyric video for “Poor Me,” explores the sharp pain against a sonic canvas that couldn’t sound any more current. After the tears, though, true to the spirit of Shania Twain music, comes dusting off, having a cold one, and moving on.

Time for tears

A tiny guitar-tinged tidbit of “Poor Me” was heard when Shania revealed the full track listing, and immediately, music press and some of the public started making comparisons to The Chainsmokers. There are heart and depth to the questioning verse of the song that reaches deeper than the duo’s appetite for one-word titles and taking over the charts.

At 51, Shania Twain has “been there” through life and love.

She's become a mother, and she certainly stood by her man, by every definition, until he made different choices. The strident songwriter has explored the inner workings of heart ache before. Her debut album, “The Woman in Me,” revealed the artist’s view of seeing the darker, desperate side of love in the title track, “Home Ain’t Where His Heart Is Anymore,” and “Raining on Our Love.” With “Poor Me,” the vantage point changes from looking in through a window to looking straight from the woman's broken heart. In her own words, Shania Twain declares, “it's me feeling sorry for myself.” Everyone has to allow that for a short while before they can muster the new strength.

Shades of gray and that unforgettable gaze

Completely divergent from “Life's About to Get Good,” “Poor Me” doesn't even try to pretend that better days are ahead. The video features a pencil-drawn portrait of Shania on a gray background, her penetrating eyes and flowing hair in full view, as the lyrics write themselves across the frames.

“Tried to face it/So far down inside” relates one of the verses before coming to accountability with “I just can't shake it/My stupid pride.”

Any love worth having must be mourned when it is lost, and Shania Twain embraces that grief here, but also, flips the words of the title to a synonym, making a good remedy for getting past the pain at the moment, as she requests “Pour me another.”

Any listener who's human and ever been hurt will drink to, and with, Shania on this one. Rest assured, she won't be down for long.

What a great and true review. The more you listen to the song, the more you feel the heartbreak and the emotions in there.
I've noticed how her voice lingers on the words "me" and "her" and underlines them in the chorus.
