Y'all are way to opinionated based on Shania's musical choice and sound. 1997 is over, move on. 2002 is over, move on. Shania's no longer married to Mutt and no longer her producer, move on. Shania doesn't care of our opinions, and clearly her label doesn't either. If you don't like her new stuff, then why bother commenting and being negative. Is it cause you just want your opinion heard? Well clearly that hasn't done anything but cause unneccesary drama. Shania's a new artist now. Accept that in her writing, musical sound, voice, looks and all. She's matured. No, she will never be where she was, but who cares. She made her mark and that's enough.

You are entitled to your opinion like everyone but don't tell us what we know because i personally disagree with you on your analysis . HERE is a plan, don't buy the album if you don't like it lol Now i won't be logging on here till after the release so I don't have to read negative stuff. IT may surprise you Tommy but many fans genuinely like the songs lol

Of course Shania fans like the songs! They are Shania fans! LOL! But if you ask them if they like the new stuff or old stuff better, most will say the old stuff. The new music just sounds "strange"!

I don't check iTunes charts but wasn't it so that Greatest Hits was higher than the new stuff? I believe it clearly demonstrates the choice of the majority between new and old songs.

I really don't like the whole comparing to her old stuff. It is NOT a faire comparison at all. Her old stuff is what put her on the map and TWIM, COO, Up was 15-25 years ago. Things change, people change, sound changes. I'm glad she's not trying to replicate her pass hits. I want new Shania songs to love and listen too. Her GH album is just that. Her greatest hits from that time period. We need to move on, and embrace her new music. I don't know why people seem to be expecting old Shania. If you compare other artist, they don't sound the same as they sounded 5-10 years ago. There is so much more to explore and experience with and I'm glad Shania is taking that step.

Oh no dear, that's not the problem: I guess (but I talk especially 4 me) that many fans want ALSO old Shania; I love her fresh new soung, even the voice, but I truly, truly, hope that at least 1, just 1, song from the NOW album reconnect my feeling to "oh, that's Shania!".

After 4 songs I listened, maybe just LATGG is the more "Shania-feel"...

Speakin' about Up, that album is a masterpiece in my life, but I recognize little problems in that: wrong production choices and too many songs keeps Up album a bit heavy to listen; I think Up could be much better without She's not just a pretty face, C'est la vie (ABBA cover?) and Waiter! Bring me water!...

About NOW I truly hope to reconnect with COUNTRY music feelings...in that SWMEC only it is, and I hope it will climbin' country charts :)

I feel like LATGG and SWMEC are both close to sounding like old Shania. But to be honest, I don't think it's in the production where you go, oh that sounds like Shania, it's the voice. I think you could have a super electronic dance floor production or heavy metal production  (which I would both welcome) and it could still sound like Shania. It all in her voice, and I think that's what people need to realize, it's not the production, it's the VOICE. The voice is ICONIC and that's what makes the song iconic. A lot of songs out there have a great production music wise, but the sound of the voice can ruin it. And I'm not saying that they're terrible singers, some of them are great, but it's just the actual sound of the voice.

We all love Shania, but tastes are different sometimes, and we just talk.

It's a forum, people TALK, not just repeat how much an artist is perfect.

And about the voice: is not that, is the fact that people still sing in Hyde Park every word of YSTO and jump 4 MIFLAW...in 15 years 4 what song we'll jump or what line with scream with our heart? Poor me? Roll me on the river?

Please...

I must say, I feel the exact same way. Not to come off arrogant or rude or anything, but I feel like only few people like us seem to have a brain around here. I know everybody's entitled to their own opinions, but I have to say I love LATGG, SWMEC, and even WGSTD. Poor Me is kinda still growing on me, but I don't hate it or anything. I actually am loving Shania's new music released so far. I honestly think WGSTD is a pretty good fun song, so I don't see why this song is getting so much hate, since it's release just a day or 2 ago.

Also while I'm on the subject of Shania's new music, I would like to make a few predictions, and let's see how right I am. I'm not gonna make any predictions on album sales or anything like that, as it's hard to tell, but it's gonna be an interesting competition come Sep. 29th, especially since Shania is gonna be going head to head with Miley, Demi, and Michael Jackson.

So my little predictions will just be on the music itself within "NOW".

I think fan favorites on Shania Now will be... "I'm Alright", "Let's Kiss and Make Up", "Roll Me On The River", "Soldier", and maybe "Light of My Life".
Which so far haven't been released nor have been singles (yet).

I think the biggest grower on the album, the one people and fans alike would start off loving to hate, but then grow to love will be "All In All", the finale song on NOW, mostly cause some people may feel it wasn't a great song to close the album with, but still I kinda hope my prediction on this one is wrong, cause I really want to believe Shania chose "All In All" on the Deluxe edition of NOW to close the album with, cause it was such a nice close to a decent comeback album. I predict this, by the simple fact, that it seems almost everybody here and on other Shania forums just like to find every little thing to complain about.

But that's all I wanna say about that. I also do think that we are all judging "NOW" A little prematurely too. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one, or one of the chosen few "ABSOLUTELY LOVING" Shania's new music. And if you must know, I've had "We Got Something They Don't" on repeat a lot lately since it's release, and am even listening to it now as I type out this post. Also the comments on the Lyric Video for WGSTD are mostly positive. I haven't really seen one negative comment on the Lyric Video yet. We all must realize, Shania has been out of the spotlight, mostly, for the last 12 or 13 years, right after she released the last single from her GH album back in 2005, and since then a lot of new music artists have joined the scene, and are still producing hit after hit, so to a lot of people, Shania is considered an ex-act, and that she has already had her day, her prime, so most young people, at least, are supporting and loving artists like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande.

If you think about it, most music artists and bands that were popular or in their prime back in the 80's and 90's keep trying to get back their star status even in this day and age, these last few years, like Madonna, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Cher, Janet Jackson, and even Gwen Stefani, and in my opinion a couple of these artists newer albums are alright, maybe not their best work, but I still enjoy their newer music. Just look at Britney Spears for example, she just released her newest album "Glory" last year, and it's relatively unknown to the general public, but I honestly think is some of her purest and most sensual work ever. And I think I'm gonna feel the same way about Shania when I listen to "NOW" in it's entirety come September 29th.

Also sorry for the long rant. I honestly feel I have more to say, but I'm making this post too long already. It's just, there's so much negativity around here lately, and I don't understand it. I'm actually enjoying Shania's new music, that's all I gotta say, it still sounds like Shania to me, and the 4 songs she has already released from "NOW" are already ICONIC to me, cause of Shania's VOICE! <3

I think you and I will definitely get along very well then! Maybe even could be friends! biggrin

I'm a long time supporter and fan of Shania, and I've been dreaming of the day Shania would release a new album, and that day has finally come (almost, just less than 2 weeks away), and I'm just choosing not to judge Shania's new music/album until the actual album is released and in my hands. I just refuse to believe we have already heard the best coming from this album. I honestly think Shania is saving the best for last, we will get the best Shania Now has to offer on September 29th, that's what I believe.

Yes!!! I've been very patient but 2 weeks feels like a months away but I will survive. I already told my carpool that I will be driving on my own on the 29th so that I can blast it and sing my little heart out!

Yeah!!! I feel the same way, it seems like such a long wait, but yeah, my point being, there's no need for people being so negative around here. I've watched and listened to every interview Shania has done this year, as promo for her new album, and Shania seems really proud of this album, and she wrote it all by herself. So in my personal opinion, if Shania is happy and satisfied with what she has written and recorded for this album, than I am too. So when I go to listen to this album in full for the first time on the 29th, I'm gonna keep an open mind, and remember that we are truly gonna be getting the real Shania through "NOW", not saying her previous work with her ex-husband wasn't the real Shania, because to me, everything Shania has written, co-written, recorded, and worked on since 1993 has been the real Shania Twain, and that includes here and NOW in 2017! We are still getting the real Shania Twain!

Also sorry for talking about all the negativity, it's just one of those things I just don't understand. We should all be happy Shania is even able to record a new album, just like she is! So let's all sing our hearts out to "NOW" on the 29th!

I agree with both of you. People are definitely expecting Come on Over and or Up! Version 2 and it's just not going to happen. Shania said so herself it's not going to happen. We know she's not the same person she was 15-20 years ago so I don't know what people are expecting... in the end she made this album for herself. Anyway, I love the songs we've been given so far so I can't wait for it to be released!!!!

It's a great song isn't it? I think it's my favourite so far! My only issue is that it's not long enough!... which is a great issue to have I guess!? I love to sing along to it and I love the music, specially the trumpets. It reminds me of Elton John or Paul McCartney.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!!! I agree all the way!!! And I know this may be a somewhat unpopular opinion, but... for some reason I think this song should have been released as the first single from NOW, instead of LATGG, even though LATGG is a great song too!!! This song just has so much fun playful energy to it, and even more enthusiasm than even LATGG does! But that's just my opinion. It also has a bit of a 90's feel to it, or is it just me? Also WGSTD also sounds like it could have been recorded for the soundtrack of a movie, a romantic comedy, maybe.. Let alone a song recorded for a studio album.

Also besides the songs I mentioned earlier I think will be fan favorites on NOW, I am starting to think "You Can't Buy Love" will also be a song that we will all also love and possibly even adore very much, especially since I saw a tweet earlier by someone who claims to already have the album who posted a few lyrics from the song. Which I must say does make me kinda jealous of the people/fans who already have been lucky enough to get their hands on the full album. 2 weeks does seem like a long wait, but we have waited 15 years for this, so we'll be alright!

Shania's LATGG is performing surprisingly well on AC Radio! It's holding at #11 but has increased with its most spins to date at 645. That's an increase of 238 from last week! It even passed Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood's "Fighter" and reigns as the #1 country song on Adult Contemporary Radio!

By John Ingham | Daily Star Sunday - UK | September 17, 2017

MUSIC legend Shania Twain felt like she was “dying” after her husband of 14 years ran off with her best friend.

The That Don’t Impress Me Much singer hit rock bottom after music producer Robert Lange ended their marriage.

Shania told me: “Betrayal is a hard, dark and deep fall. I’ve been through some incredibly dark times before, so this wasn’t the first time I’ve felt like this but it still hit me hard. It felt like I was dying inside and I’ve been to that place before.

"It’s a dark, deep fall and it is hard to come back from.” The Canadian singer has had many career highs, including 1997’s Come On Over, which is still the biggest selling album by a female solo artist in history.

But she also has a history of personal lows including growing up in an abusive home, her parents being killed in a car crash and being forced to take a 15-year career break due to losing her voice after getting Lyme disease.

Shania performed at Radio 2’s Live in Hyde Park gig last Sunday alongside Take That, Emeli Sande and James Blunt.

She releases comeback album Now on September 29.

She added: “I put all of those feelings and emotions into the lyrics of this album and I’m not apologetic or embarrassed to say I got that low.

“People are asking if I’m scared or nervous to come back after all this time, but I’ve been through the scary, horrible bit with my throat problems and divorce.

“The journey was so difficult and long. Releasing the album is the easy bit.”

Same! I just literally started playing the song right before I came here to see if there were any new messages/replies here. smile

Okay, I'm not gonna sugar-coat it, but WGSTD is the catchiest song ever! I honestly think this is the catchiest song we've got from Shania since Ka-Ching! And that was back in 2002/2003, not saying she hasn't had any catchy songs since, but the songs from her GH just didn't cut it for me, and Today is Your Day wasn't really Shania's style that we had been so used to, and LATGG is catchy, but not nearly as catchy as WGSTD!
I kinda low key already want a music video for this song!

I'd be happy if they just took all the footage that they have for the US Opens and make a video out those as those alone are pretty great. She's so energetic and seems to be having a great time in them!

Same! I hope if somewhere down the road Shania ends up releasing WGSTD as a single, that the music video would be very similar to what she did for the US Open. In fact, I bet if they really wanted to, they could just use all the footage that she did for the US Open and make a video out of that footage alone, cause Shania was really into it. I don't know for sure, but Shania was so into it, I feel like she performed the whole song for that US Open advertisement and they heavily edited it down to the 30+ seconds we got of it!

Actually now that I think about it, she might have performed almost the full songs of WGSTD, RMOTR, and Home Now for the US Open, but yeah, this song is so good it deserves to be a single eventually!

3) Poor Me

I'd have to give it this order:

1. We Got Something They Don't
2. Swingin' With My Eyes Closed
3. Life's About To Get Good
4. Poor Me

To be honest #2,3,4 can change orders depending on my mood. There's also not one song I want to listen more to when the album comes out because I'm just so excited to hear all of them. Less than 2 weeks guys!!!

Yes the order of my favorite songs changes for me too.
I can't wait to hear the whole album too but those 3 songs are the ones I REALLY can't wait to listen to.

How many singles do you think Shan will release to radio from this album? TWIM had 8, COO had 12, Up had 8 worldwide... Do you think she'll go 8 deep with this one? LATGG and SWMEC are two so far - I think WGSTD they would be another good single choice. Soldier would be a good choice too - country radio loves a military/soldier song. Based on the previews, Home Now sounds catchy but River doesn't sound like something radio would play. I would like to see a lot of videos from her this era!

I think she will definitely release "I'm Alright" as single, it's one of her favorite songs of the album. Maybe "Roll Me On The River" and "Who's Gonna Be Your Girl" 'cause apparently it's the most similar to her old sound.

This is my order of the songs I tend to play heavily, and are my favorite so far!:

1.) Swingin' With My Eyes Closed
2.) We Got Something They Don't
3.) Poor Me - (a very close second)
4.) Life's About to Get Good

Either "I'm Alright" or "Soldier" would possibly the next single after SWMEC. Both were such powerful balads. "Roll Me On The River maybe a promo single. 😊

It was sent to Country radio today. The question is, will they play it?

Call me a pessimist, but my feeling says Country radio won't play it. LATGG was send later then release to Country radio but only got some spins in the first 2 weeks after release and not when it officially got send to them. Correct me if I'm wrong

Mediabase will show us if it's getting added by stations or not. Just cause it's sent to a station doesn't mean the station will add it to their playlist.

Hear Shania Twain's Blissful New Song 'We Got Something They Don't'

Latest track from 'Now' is an Eighties-inspired, horn-heavy ode to romantic longevity

By Stephen L. Betts | Rolling Stone | September 18, 2017

The release of her hotly anticipated LP Now is just 11 days away and Shania Twain has stoked the fire with the lyric video for the album's upbeat and intensely catchy "We Got Something They Don't." Opening to a dramatic synth beat, the tune's optimistic lyrics offer a testament to a long-lasting relationship but could also be interpreted as Twain's declaration that anyone who has counted her out may have made a serious miscalculation. Listen to the track above.

Co-written with three-time Grammy-winning producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits), "We Got Something They Don't" is one of only four-co-written songs on Now, with the rest coming from Twain alone. With an instrumental break featuring a variety of horns, the bold, brassy tune wouldn't have been out of place on Eighties pop radio.

Twain's ultimate goal for the record, her first full-length studio album since 2002's Up! and her subsequent divorce from husband, songwriting partner and producer Mutt Lange, was to harness the myriad emotions she's experienced in that time and to decide what she wanted the album to be.

"I've got happy moments, I've got sad moments," Twain tells Rolling Stone Country of the collection. "And I wanted the diversity of emotions in there, so I had to basically pull out things that were leaning the balance any one direction too much."

Now will be released in standard and deluxe editions on September 29th.

Shania Twain Interview: “I’m Singing My Own Truth. I Am The Song”

By Paul Sexton | uDiscover Music - UK | September 18, 2017

https://www.udiscovermusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Shania-Twain-press-2.jpg

Returning pop-country queen Shania Twain has admitted that there were times during her long absence that she wondered whether she would ever sing again professionally. But with her first studio album for 15 years, Now, eagerly anticipated ahead of its 29 September release, the Canadian star is happy to have overcome all her personal challenges, and couldn't be more excited for the future.

As well as a high-profile divorce from her co-writer and producer 'Mutt' Lange, Twain had to battle the infectious Lyme's disease, the subsequent loss of her voice and a long period of vocal physiotherapy. But after she committed to writing the new album on her own, she regained her sense of purpose.

“Once I got past that point of just getting started, it's like going to the gym,” she told this writer on a recent visit to London. “The hardest part is getting there, right? Getting yourself dressed and out the door, and then once you're there, it all starts happening. Of course it's painful, you're going to be sore the next day and go through some ups and downs, but you've taken that initial step. Once I dived in, I was committed, and then it really just got easier from there, to be honest.”

Many of the songs from the new album, including the lead track 'Life's About To Get Good,' describe those emotional ups and downs in a remarkably open and autobiographical way. “I'm always just myself anyway,” she says. “I'm not acting when I'm on stage. I'm singing my own truth.

“I'm not even interpreting, I'm not just presenting the song as the performer, I am the song and I am extending my story by singing it to people. So I don't feel like just acknowledging the entertainer, without acknowledging the person, would be satisfying or even comfortable to me.”

Once Now started to become a reality, the artist says she was able to start enjoying it more. “The stages reveal themselves, and a creative process has to be that way, right to the last touch,” she muses. “Whether that's painting or cooking, there's always that finality, little final things you have to do, and sometimes it means a makeover of something. If the cream curdles, you've got to whip it up again.”

Now the revitalised Twain is relishing the idea of more live work, following her recent show at BBC Radio 2's Hyde Park concert and the introduction of new material at the Stagecoach Festival in the spring. “I've got to pace it like an athlete, and I've got the luxury to do that now,” she says. “I'm so excited about that.”

When she does hit the road, she knows that her fans will come from all walks of music and life. “My audiences in my concerts have always been that hybrid blend, the cross-section of ages. Just the diversity, culturally. There might be a group wearing cowboy hats, and then there'll be another group of cross-dressers wearing my 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman' outfits or whatever. Just everything. It's always been that way.”

Now is released on 29 September.

Tommy, I'd just like to say Thank You for your hard work on this website! If it weren't for this, I'd be out of the loop on a lot of things Shania. As a "considered" Super fan, I love that I don't have to go digging through the web to find Shania related stuff, as I just need to pop on here, and chances are it's already posted or I'll get to find it somewheres on the site! Thanks again!

Wait. So she co-wrote four of the songs? So I guess she's been fibbing this whole time... "I wrote the whole album myself"

Not criticizing. Just want some clarity. She needs to be forthcoming about the writing process

I think the article made a mistake and meant only produce because i looked up the song info for We Got Somerging They Don't and it only states Shania Twain under writers.

I never ever listen to the radio, but I heard it once while sitting in a restaurant a couple weeks ago. I had a sense of pride when I heard just because I keep hearing people saying that many radio station won't play her. This was also a Country station FYI!

Like this past weekend, my family had several tragedies that really got me in a "poor me" mood but when I heard that song on the radio it gave me a sense of pride too plus a strong message that life can and will be getting good from here. When your life is shattered and you heal. Life can be good but right now one of the tragedies has gone because the outcome is a blessing. So one healing step but for now we have to work on the second one. Shania is giving me hope, faith, and love once again!
