Not only is Miley releasing her album on the same day as Shania, she is also under Maverick Management. Weird. That's like a slap in the face for Shania. This is her first album in 15 years and Maverick couldn't work out a different release date for Miley???

Yes and Miley's album title has the word "Now" in it!! Shame on them! At least we can expect a #1 on the Country Chart and on Canadian Chart.
Shania is so strong in her native country.

Either way, Shania is not going to be selling like she once did. Miley will more than likely get the number one spot on the Billboard 200, but that doesn't negate any impact from Shania. For Shania, she will need to promote like crazy within the next month, and get that SWMEC out to country radio immediately. I really don't know what she is waiting on. LATGG flopped on the country charts, and it is time for her to release the next tune! Team Shania!

I think there is a marketing strategy behind this. It would be good for Shania to have a competition such as Miley to acquire new fan-based. Miley's followers were millions. Again, sure spot #1 for Shania in Billboard Country. In Billboard 200 should be a good fight each week depending on single and the reviews of the entire album after their release on th 29th of September. Miley just recently released Inspire single and Shania will soon release SWMEC. I still prefer SWMEC overall. 😁

Yes but someone told me you have to select 'all stations' instead of 'published' and usually her chart position then is worse, today for once it was better

Interview: Shania Twain

After serious illness and divorce, the singer reveals the struggles behind her first album in 15 years

The Sunday Times (UK) | August 13, 2017

It wasn’t getting bitten by a tick and contracting Lyme disease that made Shania Twain question her future. Nor was it the ever-extending delay since her last album: the 20m-selling Up! of fully 15 years ago. It wasn’t even the high-profile divorce from her husband, producer and creative foil, “Mutt” Lange. It was the moment that doctors started sticking needles into her larynx.

The Canadian superstar hasn’t made a record since people still bought CDs by the bucket-load. But after a harrowing few years, her inescapably catchy adult pop — with its occasional nods to the country sound that introduced her — is back. The self-written Now album is her first since Up! became her third in a row to go “diamond”, for US sales alone of at least 10m.

Twain and Lange separated in 2008 and divorced two years later, after his affair with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. The tabloid field day continued as Shania found comfort in the arms of Thiébaud’s estranged husband, Frédéric, whom she married in 2011. All the while, she was raising Eja, her son with Lange, now 16. She performed live, notably in Las Vegas, but album came there none. Twain cheerfully describes that period as a “nightmare”.

We are in a chic London hotel, where she sips water and exudes a conviviality not always to the fore when we met at the time of her British breakthrough. Launched here in 1998, with Come on Over already a North American sensation, she was always polite, but often perfunctory. Now she admits she thought the game might be up when, as a consequence of Lyme disease, she got dysphonia, the inability to use one’s vocal cords normally. Essentially, her voice was shot. A long, exhausting recovery began before she could even think about making an album.

“I wasn’t sure I would ever sing again, and I had to tackle that first,” she says. “Even by tackling it, where would that get me? Would I realise at the end of all this effort that I still wasn’t going to get a quality voice worth recording? There were a lot of unknowns, and that was very unsettling.

Twain had 24 weeks of treatment after she became ill, and suffered millisecond-long losses of consciousness. Not ideal at any time, but especially when you’re on tour. “I could feel them coming,” she says. “I remember keeping my eyes as wide open as I possibly could so that when it passed, I wouldn’t lose my balance. I would just make sure I wasn’t near the edge of the stage. I went through at least 10 shows like that.”

She eventually lost her voice, but never thought to link it to the disease until a new doctor made the connection. Then the fun really began. “We did this test where they put five long needles in your larynx,” she explains. “It’s not pleasant. There’s one nerve to each vocal cord, and both nerves in my case are atrophied. Who would ever have thought I needed to see a neurologist for a singing problem?”

She mentions Lange, not by name, but by his sudden departure from her creative process. “I’m always writing, but was I going to write quality songs? Was I going to be objective after all this time, and after my longtime partner all of a sudden …” she pauses. “Now I’m solo, as a songwriter and artist, without that producer. So I thought OK, the more independent I can be with this, the better, and I committed myself to writing the whole album by myself.”

Still only 51, Twain is dressed with quiet style in a cream top and jeans. The face is slightly fuller, but her ability to laugh at herself has made her beauty more real. “I’m a survivor, let’s put it that way,” she says with an exuberant laugh. You’ve found good in bad, I suggest. “I don’t always in the moment, I have to admit,” she says, using the album’s opening single as an example.

“The first line of Life’s About to Get Good is ‘I wasn’t just broken, I was shattered’. Like, it’s not just sh*tty, it’s totally sh*t! It doesn’t get any worse. But if I fight acknowledging that, it lingers on and I can’t turn the page. It’s better to focus on the pain sometimes, otherwise you’ve got to read that page five times before it sinks in.”

The new album is the sort of huge-sounding confection with which Twain made her name, stuffed with irresistible hooks and infuriatingly deft wordplay. On first play, its sugary production seems set for an overdose, but ultimately her vulnerability and positivity win the day. Occasionally, she catches herself in self-pity, as on Poor Me (“Poor me this, poor me that, why do I keep looking back?” she sings. “Still can’t believe he’d leave me to love her”). But more often, Now is the sound of someone pulling herself together. In other words, man, she still feels like a woman.

“More fun is what we need!” she announces at one point; “I’m alive, I think I’m gonna be OK,” at another. On Light of My Life she celebrates her new love, “my little piece of the pie”, and Mutt is consigned to the kennels of history.

Twain’s life in the Swiss chateau she shared with Lange had looked to many like an idyll of fairy-tale perfection. Even now, as she writes on Home Now, “I’m one of those lucky ones who dreams out loud, and it all comes.” But her new songs are all the better for some extra light and shade. “There are some really perfect and wonderful elements to my life,” she says, “but by recognising and highlighting some of the crappy things, it gives more meaning to why I do what I do.”

Yet when I ask how low the lows got, there is no mention of the end of her marriage. Instead, she starts by talking about the difficult upbringing in Ontario that made her deceptively resilient in the first place. Her parents split up when she was two, and she sang in nightclubs from the age of eight to help the family make ends meet, before her mother and stepfather were killed in a car accident.

“There haven’t been a ton of lowest lows,” she says. “But when I was 12 or 13, I said to myself, ‘This is the worst year of my life. I hate my life.’ No escape, no solution, trapped. We were struggling financially as usual, but it was affecting me more at that age, I guess. I was more embarrassed that we didn’t have enough to eat half the time and were washing our clothes by hand. It’s like, ‘Enough already, can’t we just have a washer and a dryer?’

“And my parents were at a very violent moment in their relationship again, so it was this inescapable place where I wasn’t old enough to get on with my life. I was still trapped in my dysfunctional family. The next really bad low is when my parents died. The last time I see them alive, I’m 21, and again that feeling is totally out of my control. It’s a mindset of grief and helplessness. And the next time that happens to me, my voice goes.”

Perhaps the key to her new contentment is that if you can overcome an infectious disease and the potential loss of your livelihood, divorce might not seem so bad. Either way, Twain only sees a bright side. She even has the respect of the once-wary Nashville establishment and is the subject of an exhibition about her life and times in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

“When I first went to Nashville, I was totally the outsider. It’s not like I can even fault them with that. I was Canadian, and culturally I had some adjustments to make. I had to have big enough shoulders to accept that not everybody was going to like who I was.

“But my childhood had prepared me for that. That didn’t rattle me. It was like, ‘I’m halfway across the river, and there’s only one way to go.’ I had no parents, there was no money there, no family to help me. Nothing but my siblings depending on me, hoping I would make it. If I didn’t, we were all going to live a sh*ttier life.”

However new success is gauged, it won’t be in diamond certifications, and that’s fine. “People are coming to my concerts. Maybe that’s all that matters now, and I’ve accomplished so much just by doing it. When you get to the other side, it’s fantastic.”

Shania Twain plays at Radio 2’s Live in Hyde Park, September 10; Now is released on Virgin EMI on September 29

September 29 can't come soon enough.

The thing that lifts my spirit up a little is that here in Italy I'll be able to listen to the iTunes Australia previews around 4 pm, September 28. And I hope the album will be available on Spotify at midnight in Italy, waiting for Amazon to deliver me the album first thing in the morning or I'll go crazy

This year's #GRAMMYs eligibility period deadline date for albums/songs to be released is Friday, September 29, 2017.

So, this means "Now" can be eligible for next year's Grammys. Fingers crossed.

Since LATGG has really started to kick well on Adult Contemporary Radio, will we now even see a new single in August or September for country radio?

"SWMEC" will definitely be released before the album comes out. But it's going to have the same fate as "LATGG" did on Country radio.

Same reason I said "LATGG" wouldn't do well on Country radio. The "sound" doesn't fit with today's Country radio format. Plus Shania already has a strike against her being a woman. The guys are getting most of the airplay.

From the small clip of "Soldier" we heard I think it might have a decent shot on Country radio if it's released as a single.

He's not predicting the failure of SWMEC, he's just stating that chances are it won't do well on country radio because it is so male dominant. And to be honest he's not wrong. To me, the only way for Shania to do well on country charts, she'll have to go crazy with promo for this single by preforming everywheres. And even if it does or doesn't do well on country radio, it's not that, that is going to make the album a success, its people actually supporting her and buying/streaming the album when it comes out.

We will see I guess. I dont agree. I also dont think it's right to be predicting the failure of a song before its even released. It creates a negative vibe for people that are die hard Shania fans. Why don't we just wait and see what happens and hope for success, seeing as how we are all her fans. Posting a negative comment about predicting the failure of "Swinging" is a slap in the face to Shania. But this is not the first time I've seen the negative posts on this forum lately. Unfortunately the negativity is coming from the actual administrator himself.

I don't understand why people get bent out of shape. My opinions should have no effect on what other people think or create a negative vibe. That's ridiculous. People have their own minds. I don't brainwash fans. I personally like "SWMEC"! I just don't think it will be successful on Country radio based on the reasons I've already given. I hope I'm wrong this time and the song is successful!

Tommy, I'm a HUGE Shania fan, but a sensible one. I'm not oblivious to expectations and am aware enough of how charting works. I do think the album as a whole will be a big success, Just not convince single wise. Mind you, LATGG, isn't a failure as it is still charting. Even Shania herself doesn't seem to have high expectations. To her, this album is already a success and so it is for me also.

Anti-Shania? Not at all, I consider myself to be one of her biggest fans, I'm just not a delusional one. I'm so excited for this album to come out and it is already a success in my eyes. I've never slammed her in any shape or forme. I love LATGG, I thought it was a great single choice. And I also like PM And the rest of her catalogue.

www.promoonly.com/listings/view.php

So this website and company send out promo only CDs. I have been following this company for years for EDM and when I go to my gay club/lounges and establishments. I have seen a lot about Country Radio. So here is a true release about Shania's LATGG.

Now if you notice how the majority of song titles for Country Radio fit the stereotypical demographic of a country fan. I know this much that her first single in first on the promo list and I know this is sent all over or you can subscribe to it. What do you think? Even though the management has possibly done it's job and duty to push the single. I know that Miley, Carrie and Taylor singles all do great on the Hot 100 and do semi well on the Country Radio.

It's a bunch of bigots and backward thinking folks who need a reality wake up fast because the more they want to divide in the music world the more hate grows for country radio. Its like that in all genre of music with hip hop/rap allowing and accepting white artist coming into that genre of music to get the respect, appreciation, acceptance and push for their music. I know its sounds odd but she rocks and she continues to bust down the doors. Just because she is not an American doesn't give the right to treat her that way. I do not think it because she is a woman. You can seriously stop that argument. Its because she is from Canada period. Think about it. Those who were not born in the South or in America will suffer and its that plain and simple. Remember Leann Rimes, Faith Hill, Reba, Carrie Underwood, Taylor, Martina McBride and Sara Evans all get the same equal air play etc but just because she is Canadain. What needs to happen is this ALL fans show one day text, tweet, call, email and request LATGG at the same time or for the next several weeks to get that single to be number one or the new few to be number one. This is the headline we want

"Shania Twain's Album number one and single number one on all charts!" She's still the one" Just think about it fans if we do a serious grassroots effort to really be there for Shania we can make headlines and Country Radio heads "spin"

We have to respect each others opinion. People have their own perspective and we just need to accept that. This forum is a platform to share that. We need not to argue and attack one another but instead build that unified spirit as our Queen Shania is really back! As I always mentioned, the album was so diverse and for sure we have our own favorites. I don't really mind Country Radio. What is important to me personally is Shania's impact on social media. This is the generation that we are in now. We need to ensure that Shania is trending on September 29 and forward!

For the most part, we do respect each others opinions. There's just one troll that went balls deep in accusing Tommy and myself of being "Anti-Shania" which is nothing close to the truth.

She'll probably sing it tonight on "The Tonight Show".

Oh My God, great news!!! I didn't see it coming this early at all. I would've think of a September release, nearer to the album release.
So maybe there will be another promo single...

Tommy, will you attend the listening party?

Friday most likely.

But she shouldn't give up on LATGG just yet IMO. So I'm hoping she'll perform it at Fallon. She only did the song at Stagecoach & the Today Show until now... that's not enough.

Right, "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed" should be available on digital platforms (iTunes, Spotify, etc.) by tomorrow night at midnight ET/early Friday morning.
