On Today with Kathie Lee & Hoda, She was playing celebrity swipe and it came out. This week she decided to do a Christmas album and asked John Travolta to do a duet.
I wish it would be another album of hits and songs!
Yes, Shania said she just decided this week to do a Christmas album and she called John Travolta (her "Trading Paint" movie co-star) to do a duet with her.

5. Shania Twain
After bursting back onto the scene in 2017 with her first studio album in fifteen years, Twain rocketed straight to number 1 with ‘Now‘ across the world and has spent 2018 touring the globe including a sensational run of UK dates which saw her playing live here for the first time in over a decade. And 2019 is set to be super exciting for Country Music fans as the Canadian legend has confirmed she is working on a Christmas album that will feature all new original music. This is slated for release next Christmas and will no doubt become a major fan favourite.
Shania was on "CMT Hot 20 Countdown" this past weekend and gave an update on her plans to record a Christmas album which she first announced on "TODAY With Kathie Lee & Hoda" back in November. Shania said the first set of music she'll be working on in January is the following year's Christmas music. So the album will be released Christmas 2020. Here is the segment which aired January 5.
i think she recorded this interview around late 2018? before the Aus leg of NOW tour? So i think she meant Christmas in 2019......?
Correct, the interview was recorded in Nov. 2018. So if she meant Christmas 2019, wouldn't she have said next year? She said she's going to start working in January (this month), so Christmas the following year is 2020. That's how I interpreted it.

I interpreted it as Christmas of 2019. She recorded this interview in November of 2018 and said "Christmas of the following year", which would be 2019. They chose to show the interview in January, but I really think she meant this coming year. Thinking about it from the big picture, I really don't think it's going to take two years to record a Christmas album. That would mean she would start on it now and write/record all of this year and then write and record all of next year as well. She stated that some of the songs will be Christmas classics as well, so some of the songs, she's not writing herself.
If I had to guess, I would say Christmas album in 2019 and then a new studio album in late 2020 or 2021.

But Shania said the first set of music she'll be working on in January is Christmas music for the following year. Which would be 2020. The amount of time Shania takes to write and record, I can very well see the Christmas album being released in 2020. I guess time will tell.

Since we are now heading into October and there hasn't been any mention of a Christmas album, it looks like it will be released next year in 2020 (hopefully) which is how I originally interpreted Shania's interview.

It looks like we might finally get that Christmas album this year. David Baron, one of the producers for Shania's new album, says he also arranged a Christmas song for her.
Making Records: David Baron

John Burdick: Can you describe your working relationship with Simone Felice, the division of duties and focus, or whatever else makes it so fruitful and sustainable?
David Baron: Simone and I are the perfect team. He is a natural born A&R man. He loves songs and taking them apart: lyrics, form, presentation. We share a passion for emotional songs. I am a technical musician and engineer/programmer. I love the nitty gritty of parts and arrangement. What mics and compressors, what chords, harmonic movement and so forth. Simone has great taste. Production is all about taste and perspective. We love a lot of the same music. We work all day and then listen to music and sing loudly alone at night. We are basically like excited teenagers that get to do whatever they want. That’s probably why it is working so well.
JB: Have you noticed disruptions (or accelerations!) in your business in the Covid era? Has there been a big impact on your working style?
DB: My music production business has never been busier. Artists that cannot tour want to record. I am also arranging a lot. We worked with Shania Twain at my studio on an upcoming record, then I ended up arranging a Christmas Song for her remotely. Work begets work. Artists always seem to return. It’s really great. You become wonderful friends.
Shania said she was making a Christmas album 3 years ago and was supposed to be released in 2020. Another year has gone by and still no album. Typical Shania.

She was still married to Mutt when she started talking about the idea of making a Christmas album. So she's been saying it for 20-plus years now.
Who knows if and when it will see the light. Even though I'm not crazy about Christmas music. Maybe it could've been interesting produced by Mutt, now I don't know.
I believe that such an album will never see the light of day ... The whole world is not a customer of this kind of music. Personally, I am not a fan. On the other hand, I love these songs Shania performs in Vegas. If she released a Christmas album, it would certainly be wonderful. She set herself the goal of a new album for Christmas, but, barring a big surprise ... it seems impossible now. Maybe she waits to surf the 25th anniversary promo of Come on Over to release something new at the same time. She better not promise if she's always late. She could at least release a single!
Everyone it’s thinking about a regular album but after so many years between up and now , she’s not in the spotlight , she’s an international star but not a top 1 worldwide actually , I really think a Xmas album could put her again topping the charts and after that release one year or 1 and half later a new studio album
