Kelsea Ballerini to release "hole in the bottle" remix featuring Shania - November 13!

Over the past few days, Kelsea Ballerini has posted a couple photo shoot pictures referencing two of Shania's songs. Is she working on something related to Shania? A cover song/album? Or a collaboration?

During an interview with Halsey at the CMT Music Awards on October 21, Kelsea mentioned she is "working on something with someone". It must be Shania!

Rumor is Kelsea will be releasing a new remix of her song, "hole in the bottle," featuring Shania. This makes sense with the "wine" tweets.

Kelsea pays homage to Shania's style ("That Don't Impress Me Much" and "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!") in the "hole in the bottle" music video.

CMA has revealed the final performer for tonight’s CMA Awards. Country superstar Kelsea Ballerini will take the stage to perform her hit single “hole in the bottle.”

Hosted by Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker, Country Music’s Biggest Night™ airs live TONIGHT from Nashville’s Music City Center (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on ABC.

***Well according to Fred's Instagram Stories, he and Shania are in Switzerland so she won't be performing with Kelsea tonight. But I wonder if "hole in the bottle" featuring Shania could be released after the performance.

Kelsea Ballerini to release "hole in the bottle" remix featuring Shania - November 13!

KELSEA BALLERINI DEBUTS “hole in the bottle” (WITH SHANIA TWAIN)

Music Insider Magazine | Press Release | November 12, 2020

NASHVILLE, TN- NOVEMBER 12, 2020– Two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum songwriter and producer Kelsea Ballerini has debuted a new version of her hit single “hole in the bottle” featuring the iconic country music legend Shania Twain.

Click HERE to listen to “hole in the bottle” (with Shania Twain)

Said Kelsea Ballerini, “They say don’t meet your heroes…unless your hero is Shania Twain…then meet her, know her, and make music with her. She’s inspired me in every way and has become a mentor and friend and added some major sass and spice to hole in the bottle the way only Shania could.”

Said Shania Twain, “Kelsea and I have had some fun laughs together over the last couple of years! She joined me on stage back in 2017 when I headlined Stagecoach and we’ve had a chance to catch up over a glass of wine a couple of times since. We’ve also sent pieces of songs back and forth to each other and I have to say, she’s an incredible raw talent. I love ‘hole in the bottle,’ it really speaks to my own sense of humor and it was so cool to get to do it with a friend.”

The whimsical and lyrically playful “hole in the bottle” is the third single off of Ballerini’s 2020 studio album kelsea (Black River Entertainment) and is currently climbing Country radio charts at #13 on Mediabase and #15 on Billboard. It is accompanied by a stylistic video filled with bright colors and roaring 20’s inspired black-and-white scenes, directed by Hannah Lux Davis.

About Kelsea Ballerini

Kelsea Ballerini has consistently made history. With the release of her debut album she became the only female country artist to hit #1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album, attaining her fifth #1 in four years with the newly certified double platinum “Miss Me More.” Her critically acclaimed sophomore album Unapologetically marked her second Top 5 debut on the Billboard Top 200. Her debut and sophomore albums have both been certified gold, and she has a career total of nine gold and platinum singles certifications and total streams exceeding 2 billion to date. Ballerini has garnered two GRAMMY® Award nominations, won two ACM Awards, took home the iHeartRadio Music Awards honor for “Best New Artist” and received multiple career nominations from the ACM Awards, American Music Awards, CMA Awards, CMT Awards and People’s Choice Award. The artist’s most recent 2020 studio albums kelsea and ballerini were met with critical praise including by NPR who said, “Kelsea Ballerini is definitely one of the most influential women in country right now… she’s defining the sound of the genre.” She has also been welcomed as the Grand Ole Opry’s youngest current member.

In addition to her artist projects, Kelsea launched her first ever radio show with Apple Music “kelsea radio”. On “kelsea radio”, an up-close-and-personal conversation between Ballerini and her fans, she opens up about the creative processes and personal experiences that have shaped her career.

About Shania Twain

International superstar Shania Twain is a five-time GRAMMY winner and one of music’s most renowned trailblazers. With five albums released and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Twain remains the top-selling female country pop artist of all time. Her hits include “Any Man of Mine,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “You’re Still the One” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” Twain’s first album in 15 years, NOW, was released in September 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 albums, making it the first female country release in over 3 years to top the all-genre chart. Additionally, the album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country album charts and went to No. 1 in Canada, Australia and the UK. The release of the album was followed by a year-long sold-out NOW World Tour, and her return to the live stage was nothing short of spectacular. Twain has made a substantial impact not only on the stage but also on-screen. A six-part documentary on her life called Why Not? With Shania Twain premiered on the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2011. In 2017, she made a cameo in Broad City’s fourth season, which was later nominated for a Writer’s Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series. In the same year, Twain appeared on NBC’s The Voice, mentoring contestants alongside Gwen Stefani, as well as on CTV’s music competition series The Launch. She also performed on Dancing with the Stars and America’s Got Talent. She made her movie debut in 2019 alongside John Travolta and Michael Madsen in the high-octane drama, Trading Paint, and can also be seen in Lionsgate’s I Still Believe, released on March 13, 2020. Prior to the global shut down, Twain was performing at her second residency in Vegas called “Let’s Go!”. The two-year residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino kicked off with a sold-out run. The residency will come back in 2021. On October 2 Shania released The Woman in Me: Diamond Edition, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of her GRAMMY-winning breakthrough album. The Diamond Edition is the first of her diamond certified trilogy of albums and contains a newly remastered version of the genre-busting, multi-platinum album as well as unreleased tracks and live recordings.

The song has already been released in some countries. People who have heard it say it sounds very autotuned. Shania has a small solo and references the lyrics to "MIFLAW".

Honestly I really never liked this song to begin with. As for Shanias voice it's just got a autotune vibe too it perhaps? Any thoughts Tommy on this duet? I'm super excited for Shanias album next year. Hopefully a duet or two on the next album.

I'm not a big fan of the original song either. Shania's voice sounds alright I guess. I don't like the autotune sound to it. But that's what happens a lot with remixes.

I like the song. It's quite catchy. And I love how they arranged and produced the second chorus with Shania singing over Kelsea. I don't find Shania's voice too autotuned, no more than the other duets she's done this year.
We're light years away from Now, I like this voice waaaay more.

Not a fan of this song. I can’t see this song being a big hit for Kelsea, or Shania.

Kelsea Ballerini & Shania Twain Talk About Their New Team-Up on ‘Hole in the Bottle’ – Out Today!

By James Daykin | Lyric Features | November 13, 2020

Kelsea Ballerini and Shania Twain are this week’s guests on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Country. The two singer-songwriters talk about their collaboration on Kelsea’s hit, “hole in the bottle.”

Kelsea describes how a mysterious email from “something Twain” led to her working with her idol, and Shania shares her admiration for Kelsea in the recording process and her originality in songwriting.

Tune in and listen to the full episode right here: Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen

Kelsea Ballerini on “hole in the bottle” with Shania Twain

“I got an email from ‘something Twain,’ and I’m like, ‘Is this Shania?’ And, basically she had started the conversation of ‘Let’s do something together.’ And, I was just honored that she even thought of me, you know? And we just kind of went back and forth on a couple other ideas, and some songs, we’re just sending each other a ton of stuff. And then finally I was like, ‘Wait a second, I have this single, and it’s kind of catchy, and she could kill this. And what if she just added to the fire?’ But I was listening to all of these harmonies, and her ad-libs… every single thing that she sent me just going, ‘You know who you are, and what you contribute, and what you’re great at, and what makes you an icon.’ ”

Shania Twain on working with Kelsea Ballerini on “hole in the bottle”

“I mean, she’s very serious about her writing, but she really gets the balance between relatability and not getting all wrapped up in the seriousness. But… she was directing me all the way, it was really, really cute. She would send me little snippets of all the little things she wanted me to say and sing. They were like, little tiny recordings. ‘Ok, so Shania, sing this, if you wanna sing this. If you like that, sing that. But do it your own way!’ Anyway, it was adorable… She’s actually a really good director, and she knows what she wants, and I really respected that.”

It’s Wine O’Clock! Kelsea Ballerini Drops ‘Hole in the Bottle’ Remix With Shania Twain

By Billboard Staff | November 13, 2020

It’s been a huge week for Kelsea Ballerini, and there’s still a weekend to come.

On Wednesday, the Tennessee singer and songwriter performed her hit single "Hole in the Bottle" at the 2020 CMA Awards, filling in as a late call-up due to several performers being unwell or exposed to COVID-19.

At midnight Thursday, the country star dropped a new cut of "Hole in the Bottle" from her Kelsea set, this time featuring the legendary Canadian singer Shania Twain.

On it, Shania sings: “I keep my cool I play by all the rules/ I swear ten minutes ago that bottle was full/ And I won't cry/ About love gone wrong/ Cause tears would water down this ruby red I'm sippin' on.”

It’s something of a comeback for Shania, whose last album Now, from September 2017, followed a period of ill health. Prior to that, her last album of new material was 2002’s Up!.

Shania Twain Says Kelsea Ballerini 'Never Ceases to Amaze Me' After 'Hole in the Bottle' Remix

I'm proud of you, Kelsea. And I'm there for you. And when she sent me the song, I thought, 'Yeah, this is a hit song,'" Twain says on PEOPLE (the TV Show!) about "hole in the bottle" remix

By Tomás Mier | PEOPLE | November 13, 2020

There's nothing like ruby red wine for these two!

Kelsea Ballerini and Shania Twain teamed up for the ultimate collab: a remix of Ballerini's playful "hole in the bottle" — and they raved about their relationship to Jeremy Parsons on PEOPLE (the TV Show!).

"I'm just beaming. The fact that she even knows who I am still freaks me out," Ballerini, 27, says of the country legend. "But the fact that someone that genuinely shaped me wanting to be a woman in entertainment, a songwriter, a businesswoman, someone who pushed boundaries, someone who blazed trails."

"I mean, she's it for me. You're it for me," she adds.

Ahead of releasing the "hole in the bottle" remix, Ballerini shared several nods to Twain sporting outfits similar to the icon's signature style on Instagram. Ballerini even wore a top hat like in Twain's "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" during her CMA Awards performance of the track Wednesday.

"I love the song and it's very playful," says Twain, 55, of the collab. "But listen, Kelsea is a very serious writer and director. She was sending me little bits, saying, 'Okay, well, I want you to do it your way, but I can hear this and this, and that and that, and this melody. And I just did exactly what she told me to do. And it was perfect.'"

"What's really cool about this song right now is there's so much music that we both have out that's so heartfelt, and in-depth, and vulnerable, but just in the world right now, I'm so excited to have a song that's an escape," says Ballerini about their new duet. "It's this fun two minute and 50-second moment where people can turn it on and just escape into this fun wine world with Shania and [me]. And that, to me, is just the greatest gift."

Although the two had to create the song while apart from each other due the coronavirus pandemic, the two look forward to hopefully getting into the studio together down the line. (Twain is quarantining in her husband Frédéric Thiébaud's native Switzerland.)

"I think it would be a real bottleneck experience because we've all been apart for so long that it if Kelsea and I get in a studio together ever — which we will, I'm sure. I'm confident of that — we're going to just make the most of it and do something really exciting," said Twain.

Ballerini then explains that the two have been in touch over the years. They met in 2016 at CMT's Artists of the Year event where Twain was named Artist of a Lifetime and Ballerini was named Breakout Artist of the Year. That day, Ballerini took the stage to perform "Peter Pan" and she was left in awe when she saw Twain singing along.

"I remember I looked down, and she knew the words to 'Peter Pan,' and it was just the craziest thing to me," Ballerini says. "And then, I got to meet her afterward. That was the start of our friendship."

"I was very proud of her because I could sense her self-confidence and not an egotistical way or anything like that. But I just thought this is a take-charge girl. She's writing this music. I could see the director artist behind the beautiful facade of the... I mean, she looks like a supermodel," Twain says of that moment. "But she delivers something deeper than that. It's very obvious. I was proud of her. I thought 'Yeah, this is a star in the making."

Twain then added that she even went to a Lady A show once (which Ballerini says Twain and her husband Ubered to. "That's another reason why I adore you.") just to see the "Better Luck Next Time" star perform as an opener.

"She never ceases to amaze me. She always comes up with the goods, and it's really difficult to stay strong as a female in country music over any period of time, nevermind at all. So, I'm proud of you, Kelsea," she says. "And I'm there for you. And when she sent me the song, I thought, 'Yeah, this is a hit song.' And thank you for thinking of me. And I'm privileged to be a part of it."

"I could cry. I'm not going to, but I could. Thank you for saying all of that," responds Ballerini.

Ballerini praises Twain for being able to "balance lightheartedness" and "good humor" with "genuine songwriting skill."

"It's really cool to be able to show different sides of your artistry because you can have these serious, vulnerable, introspective songs, and then, you can have fun love songs, and then, you can have a quirky drinking song, and it doesn't take away from any other corner of who you are," Ballerini tells Twain. "I mean, I've learned that listening to your music all these years. You're everything."

Twain also dishes on the weirdest place she's written a song: a soccer game!

"I'm used to the really fast game of hockey. It's super fast. You hear the puck, you hear the banging up against the... It's a rough bang-them-up sport," she says of writing "From This Moment On" from her hit album Come On Over.

"So, going to a soccer game was like watching a sport in slow motion at the time. Huge field, and it's a very silent game as far as the actual playing of the game. So, I'm like, 'Wow, I've got time to write a song between passes here,'" she adds.

The remix of "hole in the bottle" featuring Shania Twain is out now.

Kelsea Ballerini to release "hole in the bottle" remix featuring Shania - November 13!

SINGLE REVIEW: Kelsea Ballerini ‘Hole In The Bottle’ Featuring Shania Twain

Music and Tour News | November 13, 2020

For this epic new version of the massive anthem ‘Hole In The Bottle’, country-pop sensation Kelsea Ballerini has teamed up with her idol Shania Twain to create an incredible pop-infused banger that incorporates a stellar country vibe with modern radio styles which offers a tongue-in-cheek global smash.

The track is an uptempo, fun lyrical story about drinking slightly too much without apologizing, and with the year we’re currently living through it has become an anthem for many and this updated rendition which features guest vocals from Twain is a truly phenomenal offering.

The combination of Shania Twain and Kelsea Ballerini’s vocals is something truly special, and this is a piece of musical history that will no doubt go down in the books as one of the greatest country collaborations of all time. Twain is the legend of country-pop, whilst Ballerini is ready to take over that status in this current climate.

This feels like the passing of the baton, with Shania continuing to blaze a trail in the genre, and now it’s the time for Kelsea to breakout and create another avenue for rising talent as she leads the way in the modern country music world and with the guidance of Shania she has the perfect guiding hand as she continues on the path to icon status.

Their duet on ‘Hole In The Bottle’ is iconic and will no doubt go on to become one of the most successful collaborations of all time. It is an incredible offering with the two powerhouses colliding on an instant classic that is gloriously playful and sassy making it a hugely impressive release.

Kelsea Ballerini Recounts How 'Hole In The Bottle' Started As a Joke — And Became a Hit

By Tatiana Cirisano | Billboard | December 8, 2020

When Kelsea Ballerini wrote Kelsea, her third album released in March, the songs were meant to reflect "this introspective, emotional journey of figuring out who I am," says the 27-year-old country singer-songwriter.

The album accomplished just that, but Ballerini never expected its most popular single to be "Hole In The Bottle," a playful outlier about running out of wine that almost didn't make the album (and has since reached a No. 13 high on Country Airplay). Nor did she expect that country legend Shania Twain would want to contribute a verse for an official remix released in November.

Below, the Tennessee-born country star recounts how the original song came together after a boozy dinner, how Twain has become her "mentor" and the process of reimagining "Hole In The Bottle" — along with all 12 other songs on Kelsea — for Ballerini, the companion album she released in September.

How did "Hole In The Bottle" land on Kelsea?
I thought I was done writing for Kelsea, and I was down in Florida with some of my favorite songwriters. We went to dinner to celebrate being done with the album, had a good amount of wine, came back, and almost jokingly wrote "Hole In The Bottle." It was just this fun, collaborative jam session. We were totally free to be silly. The next morning, we all listened to the demo, and it was a mess [laughs], but it was something that I definitely didn't have on the album. I was like, "This would be a really fun live song." It [made] the album at the very last minute. It ended up being the perfect song to put out in this climate. My favorite thing about music is it can be escapism if you need it to be. And this song is two minutes and 30-something seconds of escapism.

You've said that "Hole In The Bottle" is your first "drinking song," and it also taps more into the traditional country sound than your other work. What made you take those directions?
I try to hold myself to a lot of grace, and I really take being a role model very seriously. So I don't really get to tap into the normal me a lot, and this captures how I am in my living room with my friends. It's honestly still a blend [of genres], and I love it. It kind of taps into that traditional, almost "chicken pickin’" country, but it also has trap beats in it. From the beginning of my career, I've always loved rooting it in country, but having other influences, whether it be pop or trap music or R&B or whatever. The blend is always something I'm looking for.

Do you feel like the country music world has become more welcoming of that kind of genre-blending?
It goes in waves, just like every trend in music. But I definitely feel like over the last five years, the massive crossover hits that have happened are bringing a new audience into country. There will always be purists that only want to hear certain kinds of country music, and I respect that, but I also think that country music's always been evolving, and a lot of the — especially — women that I grew up listening to, that are now pillars in the industry, were people that were pioneering the sound. That's something that I intend to keep trying to do.

You reimagined every song on Kelsea for Ballerini. How did you approach this one?
To be honest with you, it was the hardest one out of all 13 songs to reimagine, because it's so specific. We decided to make it sound like you were walking into a bar off Broadway [in Nashville] and there's a jam band that plays together every Friday — they have for 30 years, their best friends are seasoned musicians, who have played on hit records, but they just jam on Fridays — and it's their interpretation of the song. That's kind of how I wanted it to sound. So it's a little more musical, a little more messy. It sounds like the dive bar version.

What did you learn from the process of making Ballerini?
I learned that a song should be strong enough to stand in different ways. Even though we made Kelsea to be the best thing I knew at the time, the songs were strong enough to undo and redo. It shows that I should always focus on the lyric and what the song stands for and then build around that. In general, this year has taught me to stop putting so much weight in a plan, because sometimes, the pivot is where the good stuff happens. I'm such a planner that I get really caught up in that. It taught me to stay lighter on my feet and be able to pivot when I need to.

So...we have to talk about Shania.
Oh, we have to.

How did she end up on the "Hole In The Bottle" remix?
I've known Shania for a few years now, which sounds silly even saying. At the beginning of the pandemic, she reached out about doing something together. We spent a couple of months going back and forth on song ideas, but it wasn't until I watched the “Hole In The Bottle” music video back that I was like, "Wait a second. I idolize this woman. She's one of the main reasons I am a female in country music. And I tip my hat to her in this music video." She has this wonderful, witty sense of humor, and this banter that she's known for in her music, that this song lends itself to.

So I literally just asked her. I sent her the link to the video, and I was like, “I kind of play off of your leopard print and your ‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman’ video." She was like, “I love the sense of humor.” My favorite part of the version with her is where she does her classic banter over the guitar solo. Growing up, whenever you would hear, "Oh, so you’re Brad Pitt?" — that, to me, is Shania. It’s what she brings that no one else can bring. So for her to bring that to my song is just incredible.

How did she logistically record her verse during the pandemic?
She was in Switzerland. We just kind of mapped out where I heard her [adding a verse]. I was like, "Shania it up." She just sent me all of her vocals and then me and the producer, Jesse Frasure, sat down and sorted through everything she sent.

I hope that you get to perform it together one day.
It’s my biggest goal. When Shania headlined Stagecoach in 2017, she invited me to come out and sing "Any Man of Mine" with her. My biggest dream is to headline Stagecoach one day and have her [perform with me].

How did you meet her in the first place?
The first time we met was at the [2016] CMT Artists of the Year event. She was getting the [artist of a lifetime] award. I remember I hadn't met her yet, but she was sitting in the front and I was singing “Peter Pan.” I looked down, and she was singing like she knew the words, and it threw me off. That, to me, was one of the first [moments of feeling like] "Oh my gosh, I think I'm making it." I got to meet her afterwards, and she was so warm and so lovely. That was the beginning of our friendship, mentor, collaborative relationship, whatever you want to call it.

You’ve always excelled at using social media to connect with your fans. How has the pandemic changed or reinforced the way you go about that?
It's the only way that I can connect with people now, so yeah, it's really forced me to go there and show what I'm doing. I'm an over-sharer. I really do put it all out there — I'm on there all the time. It's my way of seeing what people are liking, what people are doing, seeing if anyone's having a hard day. The people that have shown up to shows for six years, I know them by name. To be able to really stick with people like that is nice. I also think that as a fan, I get invested in the artist, and that's why I love the music. I know that a lot of people that listen to my music are the same way, where like they listen to what I put out because I’m putting it out.

Last question: What's your signature drink?
Other than wine, it's tequila, and if it’s tequila, it’s a margarita, and it’s probably a mezcal margarita. Those are the best.

The 50 best songs of 2020

By August Brown, Suzy Exposito, Randall Roberts, Mikael Wood | Los Angeles Times | December 9, 2020

Looking back years from now, we may or may not remember how we encountered the songs that defined 2020 — on the radio, on a streaming service, on TikTok as the soundtrack of somebody’s viral dance video. But we’re certain to remember the songs themselves, which helped us make sense of (and occasionally escape from) the strange reality of a year like none other. Here, in alphabetical order, are the Times music staff’s picks for the 50 best songs of 2020.

Kelsea Ballerini, “Hole in the Bottle”

A drinking song funny enough that Ballerini released it three different times: as a pop-country rave-up, as an acoustic hoedown and finally as a duet with Shania Twain, from whose 2002 “Up!” Ballerini may have gotten the idea of rejiggering her stuff in the first place. (Mikael Wood)

Kelsea Ballerini Talks Social Media, Making A Big Move, & Her Collaboration With Shania Twain

By Morgan Huelsman | The Bobby Bones Show | February 8, 2021

Kelsea talks about Shania and the collaboration at the 13:20 mark

Kelsea Ballerini stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to share the big move she's had in recent weeks, perform several of her big hits, and talk about the decision she's made in regards to social media.

While having to stay home from touring due to the pandemic, Ballerini, her husband Morgan Evans, and their dog Dibs moved into a new house. The big move was not only big for Ballerini and Evans, but Ballerini shared that Dibs was having some anxiety at their old place with all the dogs he had to interact with constantly. Dibs isn't a big fan of other dogs, so Ballerini said he's much happier now being in their own house.

Ballerini has been interacting with her fans even more on social media while stuck at home, but there is something fans have probably noticed on her Instagram. Her comments are disabled and she confessed to Bobby Bones that she is super sensitive and would end up paying attention to too many bad comments. So instead of shutting down completely and not being open with her life for her fans, she decided to just disable comments to avoid negativity and still be open about her life. She added that she's sensitive, but believes that's a good thing.

Before performing, Ballerini walked through her big career songs. Her song "Love You Like I Mean It" was written when Ballerini confessed that she had no idea what she was doing. She was with some songwriters, and they just ordered some pizza and pulled the song together. "I Hate Love Songs" is one that was totally different than her other songs so she had wanted to "zigzag" with this one as a single. She believes that giving fans this song allowed them to see the full spectrum of her album. "Homecoming Queen?" was about Ballerini's personal journey of figuring out who she was. During this moment, Ballerini wanted to hold herself accountable and this song did that for her. As for "Hole In The Bottle," Ballerini put it on the album because she wanted something light and happy and ultimately be able to play it in her live shows. She has since put out a version of "Hole In The Bottle" with Shania Twain. Ballerini shared that Twain emailed her early in quarantine to collaborate on a project. So the two of them spent months trying to figure out the perfect collaboration and ultimately decided on a new version of Ballerini's song.

Kelsea Ballerini performed her songs "Love Me Like I Mean It," "I Hate Love Songs," "Homecoming Queen," and "Hole In The Bottle." Watch here.

Shania Twain Inspires Kelsea Ballerini

By Lauryn Snapp | iHeartRadio - CMT Cody Alan | March 8, 2021

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Kelsea Ballerini dropped in to reveal the pinch-me moments that led to her collaboration with country icon Shania Twain.

Coming together to sing, "Hole In The Bottle" was a career highlight for Kelsea.

"They say don't meet your heroes…unless your hero is Shania Twain…then meet her, know her, and make music with her," Kelsea shared in a statement. "She's inspired me in every way and has become a mentor and friend and added some major sass and spice to 'Hole in the Bottle' the way only Shania could.

Kelsea shared with Cody how the new version of her fun song came to be.

"She did her vocals in Switzerland," laughs the "Miss Me More" singer. "Basically, Shania reached out at the beginning of the pandemic, and she said that she was working on new music and she wanted to see if we could do something together. We spent the next few months going back and forth on song ideas. Like, I would write a chorus on the guitar and send it to her and vice versa, just trying to find something that really felt like a true blend."

"It wasn't until I watched the music video for "Hole In The Bottle," where I really kind of tribute her in a lot of my fashion choices, and I thought, "Wait for a second, WHAT IF? What if I just had her help on this?" shares Kelsea.

"So, I emailed it to her and just said, "Hey! I know this is kind of a different route, but here's the video, and I am sure you will see some similarities." She added only what Shania could add to it," says Kelsea with a smile.

Asking the burning question, Cody asked Kelsea if she has a favorite Shania song.

Spoiler Alert: She is just as stumped as we are.

"No, no, I don't!" proclaims Kelsea. "I saw her in Vegas when she did her residency. It was like, just all of the moments… you think that you have a favorite song and then she sings, "That Don't Impress Me Much," and then you think that's your favorite song, and she is singing "You're Still The One," and you're like, "No, nom no, that's my favorite!" and then she sings, "Man, I Feel Like A Woman." You know what I mean?"

"I don't know. I just love HER," says Kelsea.

For over a century, International Women's Day has been held on 8 March each year and marks a day of celebration and advocacy for women's rights and equality around the world. Listen as Cody celebrates country music's powerhouse females on the radio nightly by finding your station at www.CMTCody.com
