Thought we could start a new thread on Shania’s rumored new album on 2021. Since she has had oodles of time to record and write since COVID, what are everyone’s thoughts on an full fledge studio album and possibly a Christmas album?
Back in August, "Entertainment Tonight" reported Shania plans to release two albums back to back, hopefully in the Spring. 2??? That seems a little strange. But I do think she will release a new album, if not in the Spring, sometime next year.
Shania Twain Talks Isolation Strengthening Her Marriage & If She Denied Luke Bryan Her Number (Exclusive)
By Leena Tailor | Entertainment Tonight | August 14, 2020
In the picturesque Swiss town of Corseaux, overlooking Lake Geneva and surrounded by stunning mountains, Shania Twain is making the most of quarantine life. Not only has the singer been busy songwriting, but she and her husband, Frederic Thiebaud, are bonding more by the day.
“You learn so much about each other, but I think more than anything, I've learned a lot about myself,” she told ET’s Lauren Zima about spending so much time with her hubby during the pandemic. “We’re closer, for sure. I think we realized through this that we're definitely going to make it.”
“There's always those moments where you're like, ‘Holy cow. How much more time can I spend with this one person?’” Twain confessed. “But you realize as well that it is the right person. You realize a lot about yourself and what you really want, and I would never want to be alone in my life, so it's a good thing.”
The two wed in 2011 and the country superstar admitted that as they continue to learn new things about each other, they've had both great and irritating moments.
"We've discovered a lot of wonderful things about each other," she explains. "We've [also] discovered some things about each other that drive us crazy, but those are the moments where it's like, ‘If I can get through this, great.' [Things like,] ‘Did you forgot to put your shoes away?’ Socks -- all that stuff! If you can get through this together, happy and with more respect for each other, we'll be together for the rest of our lives.”
Although Twain has found the pandemic challenging on both a “functional and anxiety” level, she noted that years of songwriting and studio time means she’s accustomed to periods of isolation. Of course, it helps that her isolation involves being in a cabin in the middle of nature with her beloved horses and dogs, a scene she describes as “heaven." The musician is, however, pained by the uglier side of the pandemic, which is why her upcoming music is beaming with positivity.
“With the whole [coronavirus] experience, there isn't a day that goes by that I'm not sad [from] watching others struggle and the difficulties it's creating for so many people around the world,” she says. “On the other hand, I'm seeing people going out of the way to reflect positivity and find the good in everything, so that's inspired me to stay more positive with my writing. The album is quite energetic [and] uplifting. This period has encouraged me to tap into my positive nature.”
Doing so has put her on a roll. The 54-year-old singer revealed that she has written so many songs that she plans to release two records back to back, hopefully in the spring.
Fans don’t have to wait until then to see her back in action, though, as Twain collaborated with Orville Peck for the new song, “Legends Never Die.” A music video for the track from Peck’s EP, Show Pony, was filmed just as Twain’s Las Vegas residency shut down and before she went into isolation.
Released on Friday, Twain revived a beloved look from her long-spanning career in the video: leopard-print!
“[Peck's] a fan of iconic Shania, so I wanted to pay homage to that,” Twain said. “Leopard felt natural. It does feel like a true signature print for me. I remember my very first tour, I wore green leopard in one of my outfits. It's like having a favorite color, [but] it's a print.
Twain is also re-releasing her iconic Woman in Me album to mark it’s 25th anniversary on Oct. 2. “It's certainly time to celebrate,” she said. “I didn't really have the time to celebrate the accolades as they were happening because I was just working, working, working.”
Before that, there’s another date to celebrate -- her 55th birthday on Aug. 28. “I'll be with family and enjoy our isolation together,” she said about her plans for the day. “It's been very bonding and I've been enjoying that. We'll probably just get out on the lake. Watch the sunset.”
One person who she may not hear from on her birthday? Luke Bryan! During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the crooner claimed that Twain once refused to give him her phone number. Well, that don't impress Twain much -- she insists she would never do such a thing!
“It's not true. I would never refuse Luke Bryan,” she says. "He can find me. I will reach out to him now specifically to give him my number. I don't want to call him a liar, but I never did refuse him, so I'll make sure we get on a call real soon, get it all straightened out. I don't know what's going on in his head, but I'm going to find out. That I promise you.”
While chatting with ET, Twain also opened up about her friendship with John Travolta and the tragic recent death of his wife, Kelly Preston.
“She was a lovely, sweet lady and it's just too soon,” Twain muses. “I'm very sad for her suffering and now the suffering of her family having to live without this wonderful lady. I have an ongoing friendship with John and I've met his children a few times and Kelly as well. They were adorable together. John's very strong, but there's no easy way to deal with this loss -- especially for families like that, who I've personally seen are very close.”
And then on "Good Morning America" (4-minute mark) Shania said she believes TWIM Diamond Edition will be out in the Spring. Obviously she was thinking about a new album.
If Shania plans on releasing a new album sometime in the Spring, the lead single could be released as early as February. Just depends on the album's release date.

I sure hope she does! I just wish Shania would be a little more focused on new music and not so much on her Vegas show. We better get 2 albums with the downtime she’s had. Lol.
Finishing up an album? She's practically disappeared. Any thoughts?
Not sure what's going on. Even if she is working on something it doesn't really explain why she hasn't been on social media lately. Fred posted a picture of Melody on Instagram Stories last week and it looked like they were still in Switzerland.

I’m feeling inspired by some of the changes we are starting to see in the world. I have been locked away in the studio with some amazingly talented people and I'm really excited about what we're creating together! That's all you get to know for now 😘
***David Baron is a composer, producer, arranger, recording engineer and keyboardist from Boiceville, New York.
***So based on the producers it sounds like the album will have an Indie Folk sound to it. According to Google, their primary focus is Indie/Alternative and have produced for The Lumineers (one of Shania's favorite groups).

David Barron on Instagram third photo mentions Shania, Is Shania close to announcing an album release date maybe new single? Perhaps back in the studio finishing the new album. Check it out Tommy perhaps I'm misreading
David just replied that Shania is 100% in charge of everything. No mentions about a possbile announcement or release date.
I don't even know if he knows something and even if he does, he surely can't say anything at all. It's not up to him to reveal something THIS important. Shania or her label has to do it.
I guess we still have 2-3 weeks for the announcement, if she still plans to release the album in March. If by mid-February she doesn't say anything, the album won't be released in March.
I wonder if her Instagram post with the caption "Cheers to the good days ahead" is a hint or not. We can't really say we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel about the Covid global pandemia, so I don't know if she thinks we're hading towards better days or if there will be good days soon because she's about to say something about new music.

Hey Tommy, they’re talking about this one I circled. Check out the comments
Yeah, like "matteotempo" said, all David is saying is Shania (as well Mercury Nashville) is in charge of any kind of announcements, info on the album, release date, etc.

I think a March release date is out of the question. All that has been reported is a new album in the Spring which is March 20 - June 20. So an album release date is hard to say. First we need a lead single (and music video) release. Back in 2017, Shania released "Life's About To Get Good" on June 14 and didn't release NOW until 3 1/2 months later (September 29). That was way too long of an interval in my opinion. Albums are usually released 6-8 weeks after the lead single. Except for Taylor Swift. She does everything at once.

New music is obviously coming. The question is when? Is she still writing/working on it? We know she has songs finished already. But that doesn't mean the album is completely finished and recorded. Hopefully the new album will be released sometime in the Spring which would mean a lead single possibly in March.

When Shania released NOW she said she recorded 21 songs but only 16 made the album. Is she planning on putting those 5 recorded songs she did with the producers from NOW on this album??? I wouldn't if I was her!

I read in an interview while back she was making a completely different album. The producer's on Now didn't make the best album possibly so hopefully better material is written and being produced. I also hope she chooses the lead single wisely and doesn't have Eja picking the lead single like when he picked life's about to get good. From the studio clip she pasted last year it sounds like some pretty decent stuff. Hopefully it's catchy and not autotuned to the max. Shania has a good voice, Who's Gonna be your girl she sounded good, So hopefully they don't tune it out to much. It's likely going to be more successful than now if it promoted better and has better content. Regardless I'm extremely excited!
Could Shania debut the lead single at the Grammy Awards on March 14? Hmmm?
If she did that, would she announce it in advance? Suppose it’ll be on country radio, or do you think she’s neglecting that part of her career now? Seems to me she’s more Hollywood/pop now more than ever.

She would probably announce the single beforehand. The problem with NOW was it didn't really have any tracks that were made for Country radio. Therefore the album didn't produce any hits and in turn did not do well in sales or on the charts (except Week 1). The producers Shania is working with on this album, their primary focus is Indie/Alternative so who knows what the songs will sound like. But again, if the songs don't make it on Country radio don't expect any big hits again and success on the charts/album sales.

I'm pretty sure those 5 songs left behind for NOW will never see the light of the day. I bet they are too different than the new music she's making.

Could something like Eric Church be what "Entertainment Tonight" was referring to last August when they said Shania plans to release two albums back to back in the Spring???

Shania Twain new album in 2021! How can she achieve success?
By jordeezy | BreatheHeavy - Exhale Forum | January 29, 2021
Before Taylor Swift straddled the country and pop genres as the Americana Princess, there was Canadian Shania Twain who forged a path from Country to Soft-rock/Pop in the late 90's and early 2000's, spawning 3 DIAMOND ALBUMS. Since her break from music in 2005, Shania has met challenges in achieving the same impact on radio.
In 2017, Shania released an album titled NOW, which was her first studio album in 15 years! Needless to say, times have changed and her formula changed. 'NOW' was not met with the same success as her albums from the late 90s and early 2000s. She worked with all new producers since she and her producer-husband split, this resulted in an album that was sonically different from her previous. Her goal on this album seemed to be to continue the genre-bending; instead of producing a separate mix for the pop version and the country version of songs, she attempted to blend genres. With the blending of genres and the production changes, as well as the maturing of Shania's voice, the result was something almost unfamiliar compared to her previous records. Compare "Who's Gonna Be Your Girl" to "Pour Me" - both are a blend of country music with modern dance-pop:
So now we wonder where Shania should go from here: Should she go back to making separate country and pop mixes for songs? Should she release a more stripped-down album and go back to her Country roots? Should she incorporate Hip-Hop and collaborate with a rapper like Billy Ray Cyrus did with "Old Town Road"? What can Shania do to get the public interested in her music again?
In 2020, Shania released a few collaborations with younger Country/Pop artists like Orville Peck and Kelsea Ballerini.
So now that we know Shania is gearing up for a comeback to music, are you excited? What do you think she should do differently this time to spark up interest in her music? Which genre and style would you like from her? Share your thoughts! <3
Could Shania debut the lead single at the Grammy Awards on March 14? Hmmm?
I guess there's a strong chance she's gonna debut the lead single at the Grammys in March.
I just heard the Academy of Country Music Awards are Sunday, April 18. Shania is probably more likely to sing the lead single at the ACMs so we could be looking at a mid-late May album release date. If the album was going to be released in April it would have been announced by now. For example, Eric Church's three albums mentioned above are being released April 16, 20 and 23.

I'm SOOOOO fed up with her attitude towards new music and new album. She keeps on talkin' and talkin', posting and posting about TWIM, let's go girls and so on. Stop it!!! I know she talked about another producer for at least one song off the new album during the latest "Home Now" radio episode. So the album is ready and finished 100%. What is she waiting for?? I'm aware she could live just with the same old songs, she doesn't need money and she keeps on making money with the same 26 years old songs, but she also talks about new music she is writing and recording and then she waits ages before releasing it. She definitely talks too much and does too little about it. Where is the Christmas album she was supposed to start working on January 2019?? Where is the new album she is supposed to release this Spring. We know NOTHING about it, nothing at all. The video in studio she posted was recorded last June, 8 months ago. There are artists that can release 2 albums in 8 months, I don't know why she is always so reluctant to release new music.
matteotempo wrote:I know she talked about another producer for at least one song off the new album during the latest "Home Now" radio episode. So the album is ready and finished 100%.
Tyler Joseph - lead singer for Twenty One Pilots. ANOTHER Alternative guy. If the songs on this album don't make it to Country radio again, it's going to have the same fate NOW had as far as success on the charts and sales.

Tommy no offense but country radio is more male oriented anyway. Why does it matter if the album charts well? I honestly am just happy she's making another album. It seems everyone is so focused on the charts and sales. I'm at fan and that's all that matters :)

Except for a couple songs, I (as well as many other Shania fans and the general public) wasn't a fan of NOW. The songs were poorly produced and arranged. All I'm saying is I hope these producers did a better job than the ones Shania chose for NOW.

I, like many fans, are growing apart of how much I use to love listening to her music. It was so different than anything else out there. But, as time goes on, the old stuff just doesn’t cut it all the time. I am finding myself less interested in her music than I use too. I don’t mean to be a Debbie downer, but it’s hard to engage the fans interest, especially life long fans, if she isn’t putting out new material consistently. I thought NOW was okay. I bought it, and listened to it some, but haven’t listen to it in almost 4 years. There for so many years there was so much around, can she actually sing, and her voice issues. But, now it’s come to the point that years have went by and she’s only released 1 album since the ”Why Not? With Shania Twain,” on OWN. That was filmed in 2010. If she’s done 2 tours, 2 Las Vegas shows since then, etc, then I don’t understand the droughts between actually talking about new music, and releasing it.
Back in 2017, song titles from NOW began leaking in articles in February (http://shaniasupersite.com/shania_news_rollingstone021517.html). Shania originally planned to release the lead single in March and the album in May. In the end Shania debuted "Life's About To Get Good" on April 29 at Stagecoach, announced NOW's release date (September 29) on June 14, released "LATGG" and pre-orders for NOW on June 15, and performed ("Life's About To Get Good" and the debut of "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed") on "TODAY" on June 16.
If she plans on releasing the new album in the Spring, things should be somewhat rolling by now if you look back to 2017. NOW originally had basically the same "Spring" timeline as her upcoming album and we were getting some details starting in Dec. 2016 and a lot more by Feb/Mar 2017. We don't know anything about this album.

It seems Shania has been recording a Christmas song too with David Baron.
JB: Have you noticed disruptions (or accelerations!) in your business in the Covid era? Has there been a big impact on your working style?
DB: My music production business has never been busier. Artists that cannot tour want to record. I am also arranging a lot. We worked with Shania Twain at my studio on an upcoming record, then I ended up arranging a Christmas Song for her remotely. Work begets work. Artists always seem to return. It’s really great. You become wonderful friends.
Maybe christmas album in this year, next studio album in 2022
"We worked with Shania Twain at my studio on an upcoming record, then I ended up arranging a Christmas Song for her remotely."
This confirms her new studio album has been finished for a while. Probably last Summer or early Fall since she was working with David Baron and Simone Felice during the Summer. So there is no reason not to release the album soon. I just don't know what Shania is waiting for to announce something. She'll probably release both albums this year which goes back to the 2 albums "Entertainment Tonight" report last August.

Yeah, that's what I was originally thinking a few weeks ago. That Shania would perform the lead single at the Grammys on March 14. But since we still haven't heard anything about the new album, I highly doubt the lead single will be out in a few weeks. Now I think it's more likely she'll perform the song at the ACM Awards on April 18. Plus it's a Country music awards show (even though the lead single/album might not sound Country given all the Alternative producers she worked with). Who knows what the music will sound like. As far as the short stay in The Bahamas, they were already in Florida for the Super Bowl so they probably just took a quick flight to the islands for a week or so.

It looks like Shania might be back in Canada somewhere. Probably working on her "Heart Of Texas" TV series.
Shania was never in Canada. So she has been back in Las Vegas for a while. She flew from Vegas to Florida for the Super Bowl, to The Bahamas, and then back to Vegas.

Good enough to say that when she's posting photos they might be a year old or more, I had a feeling she was still in the Bahamas. I mean with Covid still around she has to somewhat be self isolating. As for working on a new album who knows when it will be released. I am thinking the Fall, perhaps around the same time as her Christmas album. Maybe sooner for one album who knows. However this suspense is getting frustrating and I'd wish she would just announce it already.

Until an official announcement is made. I’m not buying in to all the rumors of a new album.
Well, another week (and month) has gone by and still not a word. I'm having less and less confidence of a Spring release. We'll see.
By the way, nominations for the ACM Awards were announced this morning. If Shania does perform, it will be at one of three empty venues like the awards last September.
The 56th ACM Awards® will broadcast live from three iconic country music venues: the Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe on Sunday, April 18 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
I don't believe in a Spring release either. She is tight lipped about the album. No hints, no interviews, no anything at all. We don't know anything about the album except who the producers are. We don't even know if it's finished. If it is, what is she waiting for?
Sure enough she's not waiting to return to Vegas to promote it, concerts and residencies won't come back until 2022 at the earliest. So who knows what's going on.
Right now she's in The Bahamas enjoying life and isolation. And we keep on waiting. It's everyday business with her...
I've never heard the name Robby Riggs before. ANOTHER producer for the new album? Damn! This would be number 4 that we know of. It's not a good idea to have so many producers. The sound and production of the songs are going to be all over the place. Just like "NOW".
After remixing and producing music for many artists including Nelly Furtado, Shania Twain, Fefe Dobson and Paul Oakendfold; and creating music within the music duo Mach 747, Robby Riggs has released his first single as a solo artist. “In My Dreams (Feat. Ayla Rodney)” released across streaming platforms on February 12, 2021, and has met with encouraging reception.
