I won't be able to update my website and message board for the foreseeable future. Some of you may already know I have a physical disability (Cerebral Palsy) and I type with my nose.
Anyway over the past few months, I've been having numbness/weakness in my arms/hands and loss of balance and coordination. An x-ray and cervical MRI showed I have Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy (degenerated discs in my neck along with a narrow spinal canal causing compression on my spinal cord). So on Thursday, November 11 I'm having ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) surgery on C3/4, C4/5 & C5/6 to decompress my spinal cord and hopefully improve my symptoms.
Afterwards I won't be able to type with my nose for a while to update and post on my website/message board. I may or may not continue after I am able to type again. I started the website way back in 1999 and have spent countless hours on it. This might be a good time to just call it quits. Everything must come to an end sometime, right? Whether I continue my website or not, I will always be a Shania fan and have enjoyed interacting with fans around the world over all these years.

Your health is obviously what matters most. Hope all goes well and you get well as soon as possible.
We cannot thank you enough for your incredible work on your website which is so clear and well thought out. I would find it so sad that this wonder stops without a satisfactory alternative. That's why even if you take a long break or then reduce the pace, I hope you would continue, at least until Shania is of retirement age.
In the meantime, I hope that we can still discuss on this forum about the new music when it comes out. Even if you can't update home page / news and notes, we could share our findings about Shania on this forum while we wait for better days for you. No one can match the quality of your passionate work and thank you again for everything. I hope you get recognition from Shania Twain, in any case she can be proud to have such a dedicated and passionate fan.

Wow I didn't even know these things, This site is the best Shania fan site going. Please take care of your health and hopefully you will return. If you don't be proud of how wow you have maintained this amazing site. Since 1999. Amazing! Can someone else like a long time member help you run it by doing the typing work? This is the best Shania website I ever browsed, and it serves as a full archive of all happenings about Shania. I have followed this site since 2003 and the site is the best companion between the gap of “up” and “now”. You managed the site with the best effort. Wish you all the best and hope everything goes well.

Hi Tommy. I didn't realize what your condition is. After you let us know on Tuesday, I had to stop and think about it. What I mean is all these years I have been coming to this site for the latest Shania news, I guess I thought "Tommy" was someone full of vim and vigor as my grandmother used to say. But then, I guess you are! When you think about it, what you have given us fans all these years has been incredible, and then when you tell us how you did it, WOW!!
I can't imagine what you have been through and what you must go through now. I say this though. You are one of the most loyal fans Shania has ever had for doing all that you have done for all of us down through the years. I know I appreciate it so much. Good luck with your surgery and recovery Tommy! I don't post here often but I've been reading your site since I got internet access in 2004 and its been a huge part of my Shania fandom ever since. It's one of the first websites I check every day when I wake up.
My favourite memory is when you would buy the MIDI songs for Shania's new singles around the time of UP/Greatest Hits era and use them as background music on the homepage. I thought they were the coolest things ever at the time and I had no way of buying them myself. I want you to know how much I appreciate it and how much those tunes inspired me to pursue my own musical endeavours.
A few weeks ago I was thinking about how great of a job your site does of keeping fans informed. All I have to do is go to your website and I know every latest detail about Shania's career and whereabouts, everything from random social media postings like pictures of her dog, to news about her forthcoming albums and rumours & speculation which even if it doesn't happen is always great to have a heads-up on. If it wasn't for your site, I wouldn't know most of the information you post.
Not only have you done such a great job of keeping fans up-to-date with the latest info but your website archives are invaluable as well. Twenty-two years of news & notes that capture Shania's career in real-time, blow-by-blow as it happened. It's fascinating to read about her plans for a Christmas album back in 2000 or how seventeen years ago today she did an interview and revealed Toby Keith was her first choice for duet partner on Party For Two.
Finally, I want to recognize how you've collected, organized and preserved such a massive collection of Shania photos and magazine scans over the years. Many of these pictures would have been lost forever if it wasn't for your dedication and commitment to this task. Having 80,000 photos at your fingertips is an amazing resource.
Thank you for the time and effort you've put into your website. Congratulations on making it twenty-two years. Selfishly, I hope you continue but if you don't, I want you to know it has had a huge impact on my life and the lives of many other fans as well. I've thought about being more active on here and maybe this is an opportunity to do that. Anyway, I will keep you in my thoughts and please update us about your health when you are able to type again.
I don't post in the forums--In fact, I think I might have only made one or two posts in the past under a different username (I had to make a new one just now because I don't remember my login). But I've been visiting this website for ...probably almost as long as it's existed in 1999. This website has always been bookmarked right on top where I can see it on my browser for easy access, ever since AOL was the prominent internet service until today, where it will remain. I do have a couple of questions, though:
1) In the event that this website is no longer updated regularly, is there another similar fan website that provides steady updates for Shania news?
2) Would you consider having a dedicated fan take over the website to continue updating it?

Good News! I had my first post-op appointment and my doctor said everything looks good. He said I can go back to normal every day activities including typing with my nose. I just can't over-do it. So I'll still be updating my website and message board but it might not be as much content as in the past.

You have been my main source of Shania news since I first started my Simply Shania tribute band back in 1999. You have done an amazing job through the years and I always appreciate having access to your massive photo history. Words can't express my gratitude. Even if you're not able to post as frequently, Shania fans are lucky to have the volume of information that you've compiled over the years on your SuperSite.
