TORONTO - Country music superstar Shania Twain will headline next summer’s Boots and Hearts Music Festival.
The festival’s producer, Republic Live, says the Ontario-bred hitmaker tops a lineup that also includes Sam Hunt and Florida Georgia Line.
The camping and country music festival is set to take place Aug. 4 to 7, 2022, at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ont.
Organizers say Twain takes the mainstage Aug. 7, when she’ll cap an all-Canadian, all-female lineup of performances.
Hunt heads to the main stage Aug. 5 after performing on the fest’s side stage in 2014, while Florida Georgia Line returns for the third time Aug. 6 following headlining appearances in 2015 and 2018.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday.
Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson, and Lindsay Ell are also confirmed to perform. The full line up will be announced in the New Year.

Republic Live, producers of Boots and Hearts Music Festival, today announced the highly anticipated line-up of headliners for the 2022 festival including multi-Grammy award-winning country music superstar Shania Twain. Joined by Sam Hunt and Florida Georgia Line, Twain returns home to headline Canada’s largest camping and country music festival taking place from Aug. 4-7, 2022, at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ont.
“Having internationally acclaimed icon Shania Twain perform at Boots & Hearts Music Festival at Burl’s Creek is an absolute dream come true,” said Eva Dunford, founding partner, Republic Live. “As a Canadian, family run business whose pride and joy is this festival, we couldn’t be more excited about the incredible headliners confirmed for our comeback year. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Boots and Hearts will be Shania’s only North American festival performance for 2022 and her first-ever appearance at a Canadian music festival, so it’s an even greater honour to have her join the Boots family. We can’t wait to welcome home the artists, fans, partners, suppliers, and staff who make Boots & Hearts an incredible experience.”
Joining Shania Twain as 2022 headliners are country music superstars Sam Hunt and Florida Georgia Line. While Sam Hunt’s first-ever Canadian performance was on the side stage at Boots and Hearts in 2014, we are thrilled to have him headline the main stage this year. Florida Georgia Line return to Boots & Hearts as fan favourites for the third time following their electric headlining appearances in 2015 and 2018.
Adding to the excitement surrounding the return of Boots and Hearts, Twain’s appearance on Sunday Aug. 7 will feature all-Canadian, all-female main stage performances from start to finish. As a leading country music festival in North America, Boots and Hearts and Republic Live are incredibly proud to be celebrating female artists with a first-ever all-female dedicated main stage headlined by the iconic Shania Twain.
“As a Canadian team focused on representing Canada in the global festival market, we’re honoured to host a Canadian country superstar on Canadian soil to celebrate everything she’s done for our genre,” said Brooke Dunford, director of booking and brand strategy, Republic Live. “For many of our fans and fellow artists, Shania Twain has had a big impact on what we know and love about country music. It was important to us to celebrate her success as a female in country music and beyond, with incredible female talent that is both making waves across the border and within Canada.
"We’re extremely proud of all the female artists in our line-up and we’re excited to showcase their talents alongside the Queen of Country. There’s no doubt the theme for 2022 is LET’S GO GIRLS!“
Weekend and single day tickets will be available for the 2022 festival allowing guests to go for the day to experience Canada’s award-winning festival or stay all weekend long to celebrate the best of #BootsLife. Ticket pre-sale starts Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. and opens to the public on Friday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m.
Direct support artists Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell and more are also confirmed to perform. Additional artists and the full line-up will be announced in the New Year.

Lindsay Ell (who will be opening for Shania at Boots and Hearts music festival) talks about "touring" with her at the 1:30-2:00 minute mark. Or maybe she misspoke and said "touring" instead of "opening". But it sounds like Shania might have some kind of mini tour this Summer. That's why I think her new album will be released in late Spring.
If Covid doesn't let up by then, This concert could potentially be canceled. Only time will tell. It's a possibility it will cancel if this Covid Crisis doesn't let up
I've said it before and I'll say it again... LET'S GO GIRLS 🔥 I'm very proud to headline the main stage with an all female lineup at this year's @BootsandHearts ❤️
The festival, which takes place August 4 to 7 at Burl's Creek, also includes performances from Walker Hayes, Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt, Andrew Hyatt, Dustin Lynch, Mackenzie Porter, Niko Moon, Meghan Patrick, Redhill Valleys and Priscilla Block, plus up-and-comers like Morgan Wade, Shy Carter and Callista Clark.
Hayes will kick off the festival with his performance on Thursday night, with Shania wrapping things up on Sunday. In a statement about her headlining performance, and the all-female main stage lineup that she's capping off, Twain said:
For as long as I've made music the festival space has been monopolized by white male acts, which didn't necessarily represent what was most popular in music — where women and people of colour were often dominating. So I'm very proud to headline a day of all-female acts at Boots and Hearts festival this year.
Change is slow but diversity is necessary because everyone deserves a platform and a stage to shine. I've said it before and I'll say it again – LET'S GO GIRLS! And let's support those festivals who make the effort to programme differently. See you soon Boots and Hearts festival.
Madison Kozak’s rising star takes her over the moon with Shania Twain
Lindsay native goes from singing "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" at the Academy Theatre to sharing a stage with the very person who wrote it at this year’s Boots & Hearts music festival
By Catherine Whitnall | Toronto Star | April 8, 2022
Most would see sharing a stage with Canadian country icon Shania Twain as a huge leap up from the spotlight at the Academy Theatre, but for Madison Kozak it’s one more incredible milestone in her musical journey.
“I’m just over the moon to be playing Boots & Hearts,” said Kozak, who takes the stage Aug. 7 along with Twain and Lindsay Ell, Tyler Rich, Robyn Ottolini, Priscilla Block, Andrew Hyatt, Five Roses, Brittany Kennell and the Redhill Valleys. “I’ve gone from the Academy Theatre stage singing ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’ to sharing a stage with the very person who wrote it.”
The show isn’t going to make history just for Kozak, though; Twain’s last live performance in Ontario was in July 2018.
Kozak was only 10 when she entered — and won — the Havelock Country Jamboree’s singing contest, affording her the opportunity to perform for close to 10,000 people. She’s since taken stages across North America, including the ultimate one for any country artist — the Grand Ole Opry — sharing the stage with a veritable who’s who in the industry, the likes of Reba McIntyre, Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson and Keith Urban.
The Lindsay native — who moved to Nashville at 14 to pursue her musical dream — was barely into her 20s when she caught the eyes, and ears, of such publications as People, Rolling Stone and Boards. In 2019, Kozak was one of 11 up-and-coming female country singers named to CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2020. Earlier that same year, Kozak was one of the first recording artists to sign with Songs & Daughters, recording company Big Loud’s female-focused joint label venture with award-winning songwriter Nicolle Galyon. The company’s mission is to be a music house for female creatives and address the gender disparity in country radio by nurturing female artists.
While being included in the Boots & Hearts lineup is definitely a thrill, it also means hitting the road again.
“It’s been like a roller-coaster waiting game for live performers,” said Kozak of the last two years. “On one side, we couldn’t really tour and there were so many cancelled shows. But we also had online formats that still helped us get our music out there.”
Another positive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will see Kozak’s fans benefit.
“It really inspired me to get back into the writer’s studio and work on a new chapter,” said Kozak who will be dropping four new singles over the coming months.
The new music is somewhat of a return to Kozak’s roots; the days of donning her pink cowboy boots and hat and belting out traditional classics by her idol Loretta Lynne.
“I’ve always tried to be the most honest storyteller I can be. That’s what drew me to country music in the first place,” said Kozak adding she can “still hear those traditional influences” in the back of her head each time she works on new music. “But I’m also a child of the 2000s. And it's important to me to also be relevant. The key is to combine the two and still produce music that’s emotive, with a lot of raw storytelling.”
Do y'all think that Shania's performance at Boots and Hearts will basically be the same production as her Vegas residency (same graphics, dancers, set list etc.) or will she go for something a bit different?
I would love for it have more of a country feel and I would also love to see some surprise guest appearances. I would love to see her sing Legends Never Die with Orville Peck.
I have a feeling she may be using Boots and Hearts to release her lead single from her new album (like she used Stagecoach to release Life's About to Get Good in 2017).
Maybe she'll invite one of the other performers onstage. Lindsay Ell would be a good bet because loves Shania and she's a great musician that could probably join her for any song on vocals, guitar or both. But it seems unlikely that Orville could join since he'll be in Montreal for his own show. He does have a show in Toronto on the 9th though - so it's a good time to see them both, although separately.
Another collaboration that would be fun to see happen is with Tenille Townes. She's another fantastic artist who'll be in Ontario on the 11th and given the backstory of how she was invited to sing with Shania on her Up! Tour when she was a kid, it's just a cool moment waiting to happen.
There's really no way to know whether she'll debut new music but it's not unreasonable to be hopeful. I've really gotten my expectations up with the news of the documentary potentially being released in July or August. Since the documentary is complete, I would assume that finalizing a release date would be easy - the only thing that must be holding them back from setting it is actually finalizing the release date for the album and scheduling joint promotion for both.

Ell spoke with "Fox & Friends" hosts Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy and Rachel Campos-Duffy on stage ahead of her performance in FOX Square.
When asked about what it was like during the coronavirus pandemic, the Canadian singer shared how grateful she is for her job after being absent from her fans.
"It's amazing to be able to be back playing live shows. I think, if anything, and what we learned over the past couple of years, is just gratitude for our jobs, you know, to be able to go back to work and play in front of human beings and see smiling faces in the crowd."
Ell admitted that country legend Shania Twain helped inspire her music career.
She noted that it takes a lot to write songs to express what you mean and get up on stage and sing them while appearing "feminine and sexy and strong at the same time."
"Shania walks that line so perfectly," she added.
Ell shared how she experimented with music at a young age by picking up her dad's guitar and then playing.
"It was a lot cooler to play Shania Twain songs on the guitar, and so I just picked this thing up and never really put it down," she said.
She went on to discuss her philanthropic work and her foundation called "The Make You Movement."
"On my last record, I talked about my story as a survivor, as a little girl for the very first time… I just think that, you know, as anybody in the entertainment industry, we have the option to use our platform for good. And the fact that I can use my music to actually make a difference and, you know, give people a voice, other survivors a voice, give other women a voice good on you is awesome. Even my latest song, ‘Right On Time.’ I just really wanted to write something that would, you know, support women in their decisions and their rights and their bodies and everything moving forward."
Ell is on tour through October, making stops across North America and the United Kingdom.
In the coming weeks, the star-studded "Fox & Friends" concert series will feature artists such as Flo Rida, Maverick City Music, Foreigner and more.
Viewers can stream every concert live on Fox Nation or tune in to "Fox & Friends."

Shania's dancers won't be part of the concert. I've seen several posting on Instagram from Las Vegas. Mirko, the guy who travels with Shania and Fred, is posting videos outside the venue on his Instagram Stories.
Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms are LIKELY tonight in Oro-Medonte, Ontario especially after 8:00pm. What a mess! Outdoor concerts can't go on if lightning is in the area.
Probably a dumb question but is the festival filmed and uploaded anywhere? Like does it appear on TV at some point or will they post performances online?
Ontario, I'm home!! 😘 What a beautiful day to play a hometown show... I'm so excited to see you all tonight! Who's coming to @BootsandHearts? Let’s go girls! ❤️🔥

I've searched past years and the first 2 days of this year's festival and haven't found any official video. Only footage people upload to YouTube and social media. I'm not sure if it airs on TV in Canada at a later date.

It appears to be the same set list as her Las Vegas shows with Not Just a Girl added before I'm Gonna Getcha Good. No Forever and For Always. The shows not over yet - I wonder if she'll sing Queen of Me before MIFLAW?
You guys. That’s was epic. Everyone got drenched in rain while waiting for her and they all refused to leave after the weather hazard advisory until security came out. We all ran back when the thunder stopped and the whole crowd was still hyped. I’m typing this while still drenched head to toe.
She sounded amazing and the energy was incredible! I’ve seen a lot of rock shows but this one takes the cake. I won’t forget it.

Well... where do I even start!? @BootsandHearts was wild... for many reasons!! It felt soooo good to be back in my homeland... even with the severe thunderstorms trying to ruin our fun 😅 But no amount of rain was going to stop our kick-ass party!! Thank you to every single one of you for your energy - what a night! And it was even more special to close out a festival with an all female main stage lineup ❤️ I've said it before and I'll say it again... LET'S GO GIRLS!! 🔥
According to one of Shania's friends, Chloe Gosselin, the dog's name is Saphie. I wonder what happened to the first Pomeranian that Shania had, Camper?
