President Calvin Coolidge celebrated the first National Christmas Tree Lighting in 1923. This beloved American tradition features musical performances and the official ringing in of the holiday season.
According to this WUSA9 interview, Shania also sang "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas". The audio is awful so turn your volume all the way up.

Shania Twain performs "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" during the 100th National Christmas Tree Lighting on The Ellipse south of the White House in Washington, DC, on November 30, 2022.
On one hand I love that she sang live, on the other hand I don't know if she should have. She doesn't sound absolutely terrible but I can see people being critical of her voice when this airs.

Exactly my thought. It got better during the song. Hope they‘ll edit the sound before it airs with some echo and autotune.
She sounds terrible here. None of her other recent "live" performances sound this bad. I am guilty of complaining about her using a backing track before but she should have used.
Is it possible that this is the live raw audio from her mic but the audience/official performance will hear a pre-recorded auto tuned track?
Christmas Baby Please Come Home sounds much better IMO.
damn she can’t win. One minute people complain that she doesn’t sing live and the next they’re complaining that she does sing live 🙈
Well I do get what you're saying. For me it would be most special if she sang a whole show live. But I’m completely fine with the pre-records as well. Just feel sad for her if she is getting a lot of backlash because of a tv performance.
Stop the whining is this a Shania fan page or bully page? it might sound better when it airs on Tv. People are using there phones and screaming. If this is her raw live vocals then you go girl, She has vocal damage if you watch her Netflix documentary and many other interviews over the years she says I don't sound the same. People may criticize her but I believe it makes people love her more for trying and getting up on the stage period. To see her sing and tour and make another album is amazing. Her voice is what it is. She lipsyncs you all whine she sings live you all whine. I guess as a fan I accept her sound. Loves this page. I didn't say she sounds amazing I am saying she's trying and that takes a lot of courage. Love this page and love my Shania
Well said Melissa!! People who keep on complaining about her voice should go and see some of her late '90s/early '00s TV performances (Today Show with HIH and YSTO, the Grammys with MIFLAW, the AMAs with the IGGG/Up medley and so on and on and on). They'd discovered some horrible, terrible, unlistenable performances back then as well, when her voice was in full swing.
We should be just glad she has regained the confidence to try and sing live as often as possible, to make more music and to try new styles.
The one thing I will say about her voice now, even compared to back in 2017, she’s lost projection and makes her sing in a lot of a whispering, unstable way. She over compensates for her normal range projection for random drawn out notes, and adds a lot of yelling at various times in her music live, to help offset the lack of projection. Isn’t a bad thing, just her new reality of voice.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Also known as… my favourite time of the year!! I had the honour of singing a couple of my favourite Christmas songs as part of the #NationalTreeLighting at The @WhiteHouse - a magical day. Watch tonight on @CBS at 8/7c 🎄
The videos on Twitter of Shania's performances didn't do her justice. Glad they started the program with her. She actually sounded really good. Her voice is much improved since the 2017-2018 NOW era. Much more power and control. Looking forward to the other songs.

Shania Twain is still the one! 💕 @ShaniaTwain kicks off the #NationalTreeLighting.
"It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" (56 sec clip)
Shania just sang her second song "Christmas Baby Please Come Home". There isn't enough time left in the one-hour show to air the third song she sang, "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". They aired two songs from each artist.

Shania singing "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home".
That long note towards the end was absolutely incredible. She hasn't sounded this good in many years.
Indeed. That open throat surgery has made a sort of miracle.
Until a few years ago (4-5 years ago) she would have never been able to hold that long and poweful note towards the end for so long. I'm so happy for her and I can't wait for the new album to be released. I mean it. I can't really wait.
After a gorgeous day at The @WhiteHouse with friends old and new for the #NationalTreeLighting I am well and truly in the Christmas spirit!! Happy Holidays everyone!
