Shania Twain Shares How To āLove Yourself Nakedā
By Anita Tai | ET Canada | January 23, 2023
Shania Twain has learned to love herself in the skin sheās in.Ā
The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist said itās been a long journey to self-empowerment, but itās one she wants to share with her audience on her new album Queen of Me.
āThe album was very much written as an exercise to lift my spirits, really. [I] started reflecting more on my own self-confidence,ā she told ET Canadaās Jedson Tavernier. āWhere am I really at? You know, a self-confidence check. Am I living my self-empowerment beliefs?ā
Part of that journey was coming to the realization that growing older helped her let go of past mistakes.
āAnd then so like at 57, Iām like, well, you know what? Whatever I canāt change that Iām not comfortable with? Itās time to frigging deal with it,ā she explained. āGet real with myself. Can I look in the mirror with the lights on and be okay with that? Does it make me cringe? Does it make me uncomfortable? Am I squirming in my own skin? If I am, this is a problem. The time is now. Like, change that. You know, if you donāt love yourself naked, get to it, man.ā
For Twain, loving yourself naked really meant āliving that reflectionā rather than just being empowered by it.
āI really want to just wanted to start living that reflection. You donāt really need to see yourself. You have to be yourself ā so itās really not about a reflection at all. That means, you know, letting other people see you for who you really are and believing that,ā she explained. āI guess just being inspired by that ā you have to live your own reflection. Otherwise, your inspiration means nothing. So, if Iām going to sing āQueen of Meā, then Iāve got to be the queen of me.ā
Queen of Me is set for release on Feb. 3.

Shania Twain Recalls Sweet Moment Her Son Eja Wanted To Show Off Her Grammys, Reveals He Has A Song On Her New Album
By Becca Longmire | ET Canada |Ā February 2, 2023
Shania Twain may be a huge star, but at home sheās just mom to her 21-year-old son Eja.
The country superstar chats to ET Canadaās Jedson Tavernier for a new special, with her recalling a special moment with Eja when he asked where all her accolades were kept.
Twain reveals, āNone of my awards were out and my son just said, this is not that long ago, so heās like a teenagerā¦ heās like, āMom, where are all your awards?ā
āTheyāre in the archives, which is a small room in the basement. Stored like respectfully, but you know, not on display. He goes āwell, canāt we just at least put the Grammys up? So we got the Grammys, we put them on the shelf, heās like āmom, donāt you want to see them? Arenāt you proud of these? Youāve earned these.'ā
Twain gushes, āIt was really cute, so I started putting more of my awards out.
āI appreciated him bringing that up, it was very cute.ā
As Tavernier explains how the Canadian hitmaker had previously mentioned Eja wanting to get into audio engineering, she responds: āHeās so full on now into music. That is his passion. He lives, breathes it. In fact, heās got one of his songs on my current album, on the Queen of Me album. I didnāt tell him that he was on it until it was already done. Just not to get his hopes up too high.
āHeās very talented, we donāt work together per se, he really loves his independence. He does his own thing,ā adding that sheās actually discovered a lot of new music through him.
Twain says of whether Eja is aware of just how big his mom is and if he just sees her as mom at home: āHe sees me as mom, Iām mom all the way. Thereās no crossing any lines there. Heās very on top of it.
āHe knows what Iāve achieved, he knows what I represent in my career. Does not see me as that in our relationship at all. Weāre just mom and son, all the way.ā
