“Country has some of the most passionate fans in music and us artists are so lucky to be supported in doing what we love,” the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" singer shared in a statement. “I am honored to host an award show that celebrates these awesome fans. Get ready for an unforgettable show with lots of big hair, glamour, rhinestones, hats, boots and incredible performances. Giddy Up!”
As for why the Grammy winner couldn't be a more perfect host for the annual celebration of country music?
“With a proven track record of creating music that stands the test of time, Shania is a beloved member of the country community,” added Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment Jen Neal. “As we return to the Grand Ole Opry House, she is the perfect person to help us celebrate country’s finest.”
Last year's inaugural People's Choice Country Awards honored some of the biggest names in music, with the late Toby Keith and Wynonna Judd bothreceiving the Icon Awards.
Plus, the show featured star-studded performances by Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, Dan + Shay, HARDY, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini and Little Big Town

I never criticize her looks, I've always stuck up for them actually. This wig is horrible though. It literally looks like it came from the Halloween costume department at Walmart. I don't mind the wigs overall, but this looks super cheap and tacky. Surely she can afford a better wig than this?! Good grief.

She can do whatever makes her happy but my opinion is she can't possibly think that wig looks good lol. People are lying to her then. In my opinion she has always looked best with her darker brunette hair.

I think Shania Twain might be performing. Brent reposted yesterday's PCCA promo on his Instagram Stories. Not sure if she is performing but seems he is hinting at it. He mentions "working on something cool for this". Curious what they are working on.
Update: Shania will likely be performing at the PCCA Awards. Brent just liked a status when someone asked is Shania performing. He loved the status so sounds likely.

the #PCCAs are only a week away? impressive. 😉 catch @shaniatwain hosting the @PeoplesChoice Country Awards september 26 at 8/7c on @nbc & streaming on @peac0ck.
What do you think she would even perform? I would loooove to see it happen, but I am having big doubts that she will perform.
According to a post on Instagram Stories from Brent Barcus last week, it looks like Shania will be performing. I guess another medley like she performed at the People's Choice Awards in 2022 when she received the Music Icon award.

Why Shania Twain Is a Little Scared to Host the PCCAs This Year [Exclusive Interview]
By Evan Paul | Taste of Country | September 23, 2024
The People's Choice Country Awards will air Sept. 26 from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. This year's show will be hosted by country music icon Shania Twain, and though she's a longstanding staple in the industry, she admits she's a little nervous.
Ahead of Thursday's big show, we had a chance to sit down with Twain to pick her brain about what it's like to host this one-of-a-kind event: Is there anything that scares her?
Shania Twain on Hosting 2024 People's Choice Country Awards
"Listen, I plan on going to have a lot of fun," the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" hitmaker dishes to Taste of Country Nights' Evan Paul. She's used to performing during awards shows, but not really hosting.
"My responsibility is to host hard-working artists, to take my hat off to their talents and to join the fans in celebrating the music they love the most," Twain adds. "I'm there as a fan."
Of course, she's not just there as a fan — she has a big responsibility on her shoulders to keep the show moving along on pace, and in an entertaining way. That's where her stage fright comes in, and for good reason.
"I'm not the greatest reader," Twain insists. "I'm a very spontaneous speaker and thinker, so if I get rambling, they might have to take the hook out and get me off the stage."
"I think it's gonna be more about adrenaline than nerves," she continues, "you know, just feeling excited, building up to meeting artists that I haven't met yet."
Some of the up-and-coming country artists who'll be in attendance at the 2024 PCCAs would probably never believe that Twain — one of music's biggest stars ever — is just as nervous to meet them as they are to run into her.
"I will say that the night's gonna go by too quickly for me, that excitement might get me either speaking too quickly or too long," Twain says, considering how things might go Thursday night.
"I think I'll be more like a giddy child. I think that's it, I don't want to ramble on, you know?"
So, if you notice Twain squinting at the camera, just know that she's trying to keep up with the teleprompter as best she can.
The 2024 People's Choice Country Awards, hosted by Twain, will air Sept. 26 on NBC and Peac0ck (streaming) starting at 8PM ET. The show will feature performances from Keith Urban, Lady A, Parker McCollum and more.
Shania Twain Talks Hosting the People’s Choice Country Awards & Taking Hosting Inspiration From Reba: ‘I’m All Access’
Shania Twain tells Billboard about the artists she is looking forward to catching up with and discusses the impact of Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter.
By Jessica Nicholson | Billboard | September 23, 2024
Five-time Grammy winner Shania Twain has performed around the world, but she’s returning to where it all began in Nashville this week, as she hosts the upcoming second People’s Choice CountryAwards, which will air Thursday night (Sept. 26) on NBC and Peac0ck, from Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House.
“It’s a really full-circle experience for me,” Twain tells Billboard. “It takes me back to my own beginnings in Nashville and as a new recording artist there, and obviously the historic location is always appealing. I meet new artists, and I’m running into old friends, making new friends.”
In addition to a slate of nominees including Beyoncé, Kane Brown, Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, Tim McGraw, Dolly Parton, Shaboozey, George Strait, Lainey Wilson and Bailey Zimmerman, other anticipated moments from the show will include Miranda Lambert being honored with the 2024 country icon award, while Brown will be celebrated as the 2024 country champion award honoree.
As much as Twain is guiding viewers through the awards ceremony, she says, “I’m here more as a fan than anything. It’s the artists that the people want to hear and see, so to me, that is everything. I’ll be smack dab in the middle of it all, so I’m super excited. I’m all access.”
Among those artists Twain herself anticipates seeing are a mix of newcomers and established artists.
“I’m excited to see Parker McCollum and I’ll be excited to catch up with Lady A — they are always fabulous to see live. I’m excited to see Kane Brown, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, and I’m particularly excited about seeing The War and Treaty and listening to them perform because they are such gorgeous vocalists. And Shaboozey just makes me happy whenever I watch one of his videos. It just brings me joy, so it’s just a lot of positive energy.”
Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 10 weeks, while her album Cowboy Carter stayed at the pinnacle of the Top Country Albums chart for four weeks. In addition to being nominated at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards for the overall people’s artist of 2024, the female artist of 2024 and the album of 2024 (Cowboy Carter), among Beyoncé’s nominations are two entries in the female song of 2024 category (“16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em”).
“The impact is undeniable,” Twain says of Cowboy Carter. “I think all successful recording artists make music for listeners, and these artists deserve an industry that in return, listens to the people’s choice, to what the people want to hear. That’s what’s happened with Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and the industry needs to respect what the listeners want, and what the listeners want is Beyoncé country. The people are hungry for more diversity in the genre. Beyoncé is part of broadening the spectrum. When I was growing up I was listening to folk country, alternative country and all kinds of country, and we’re getting back to that now again, and Beyoncé is part of that.”
In terms of her hosting duties, Twain says she’s taken inspiration from other artists who have hosted awards shows, such as Reba McEntire, who has hosted both the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.
“Any of those big shows rely a lot on the spirit and the mood of the host, because the hosts are chosen, I think quite carefully, making sure people are relating and the host has experience. Reba is one of my favorite hosts. She’s speaking from experience and I think that commands respect and attention. She’s funny and smart, and is loved by all, and it’s a compliment to be asked to do something like [hosting an awards show]. So Reba is a good example for me.”
Of course, Twain isn’t just hosting the show — she’s also a nominee, as Shania Twain: Come On Over—The Las Vegas Residency- All The Hits!, earned her a nomination in the concert tour of 2024 category. Her residency is currently slated to run through early 2025.
Recently, Twain was also included in a trailer for the new medical drama series Doctor Odyssey. Twain says 2025 and beyond will be filled with a variety of creative pursuits.
“I’ll be very, very busy for the next few years. I’m doing more acting. I’ll be in the studio making a new album. I’m writing music for various things and there’s a musical in the works with my music, so lots of exciting things. I’ll be busy doing more of a variety of things than I’ve ever done before in my career, so that’ll keep me off the Vegas stage for a while.”
Shania Twain Reveals Her Favorite Modern Country Artist [Exclusive]
By Evan Paul | Taste of Country | September 24, 2024
Shania Twain has always toed the line between pop and country — she was one of the most progressive acts of the '90s and early '00s — so it's not totally surprising that her taste in music might bend genres, too.
Though she stays busy — Twain is hosting the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards this Thursday (Sept. 26) — she seems to stay up-to-date on new and emerging acts.
And she knows what she likes.
In an exclusive gab with Taste of Country Nights, Twain talked about her upcoming hosting gig, but a lot of other topics, too. As far as new country music goes? The "You're Still the One" hitmaker had her answer about what's best ready.
"New right now to the genre — Shaboozey. His music and his videos just make me smile," Twain admits, giving the "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" hitmaker the highest compliment.
"I just wanna be able to tell him that in person."
Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" has been the No. 1 song in America, all genres, for more than 11 weeks now. He'll of course be in attendance at the People's Choice Country Awards, too. Twain knows this and is using it to her advantage to get to meet him.
"One of the privileges that I have hosting the night, is this access that I have," she admits. She knows she'll be able to freely roam backstage, because that's her privilege as the night's host.
"I'm gonna make a point of, you know, just thanking him for exuding that kind of feel-good vibe," she says of tracking Shaboozey (real name Collins Obinna Chibueze) down.
Hopefully that moment will be caught on camera, because she's sure to fangirl over him.
The 2024 People's Choice Country Awards air Thursday, Sept. 26, at 8PM ET on NBC. The show will also stream on Peac0ck.
According to this article, Shania will open the PCCAs with a performance. I can't find the official press release from NBC.

Shania Twain hosts People's Choice Country Awards at a 'pivotal moment' for the genre
Multi-platinum selling country and pop superstar Shania Twain discusses country's moment, Beyoncé and hosting the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards.
By Marcus K. Dowling | Nashville Tennessean | September 25, 2024
For five decades, Shania Twain has never stopped thinking that country was cool.
That's the energy she's bringing to the stage when she host the People's Choice Country Awards at the Grand Ole Opry House. The event premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on NBC and Peac0ck.
Country newcomer Beyoncé leads the People's Choice Country Awards field with 12 nominations. Other double-digit nominees include "I Remember Everything" collaborators Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves with 11 and 10, respectively.
Another country newsmaker of late, Post Malone, also received nominations for his music videos for the Morgan Wallen collaboration "I Had Some Help" and Blake Shelton duet "Pour Me a Drink."
Kane Brown will also receive the Country Champion Award, while Miranda Lambert will receive the Country Icon Award at the event.
Twain has opinions on all of these accomplishments and more.
Twain excited to be part of country's surge
The past two years have witnessed "brave and risky" pop-leaning country performers like Twain who have straddled the line between being icons and outliers having a resurgence of sorts in Music City.
Every six months, the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" vocalist has appeared in Nashville. That has included guesting at ACM Honors at the Ryman Auditorium, headlining at Geodis Park, and now stepping into the vaunted circle at the Opry House.
Twain says she is excited to be involved in a "pivotal moment of evolution" for country music.
"At the People's Choice Country Awards, I'll be able to share my appreciation and respect for the community of artists — old and new — in country music," she says. "I'll be there as much to reunite with old friends as to thank Shaboozey for his vibe, which makes me smile daily."
For the performer, a moment where the genre now mirrors her iconoclastic journey through country and pop music is heartening.
"I grew up around 'my' country music, defined by blues, folk, rock, and alternative artists and sounds," says Twain, who has sold well over 100 million records in her career. "Having that energy back in the genre makes me happy because the fans can cry out (for something that country music is equipped to give them). Artists needing to give fans what they want is important to continuing (country music's) growth."
The value of fan-voted country music award shows
The People's Choice Country Awards balance the top tier of country's awards cycle by allowing for a diversity of fan-voted awards alongside membership alliances that choose the industry's best artists and creatives.
Academies and associations are tiered systems, purposefully attractive to structured, sustainable growth.
The willingness of fans to use online and streaming portals to hasten change at the risk of denying structure and sustainability has almost changed country music as an industry wholesale in the past five years.
"Country's industrial change is being (felt so deeply) because the genre's industry was overdue for a refresh," Twain says.
In the past five years, the music industry's overall reliance on streaming and touring revenue has played directly into the hands of a genre that routinely churns out singles that, like Wallen's "Last Night," Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" and Malone and Wallen's "I Had Some Help," have hit a billion streams in less than a year. Plus, sold-out arena and stadium touring acts like Brown, Kenny Chesney, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, George Strait and Wallen are multiplying in the genre.
In this market, on the back of fan support, country's surge to being responsible for a significant chunk of revenue compared to other genres is noteworthy.
Twain says that the genre playing "catch-up" to develop a balance between fan wants and industry needs is essential. She adds, however, that country historically has been a genre where hyper-engaged fans have wanted to support country music like pop — and had an industry's support in that over-engagement.
"Country has always needed to be an environment more inclusive of pop stardom," Twain says. "Artists having the ability to allow their interests in making country music feel comfortable and inspired in the (genre as an) environment is vital."
Beyoncé's place in country's mainstream
And yes, Beyoncé is nominated for 12 People's Choice Country Awards but zero Country Music Association awards.
On one level, the CMA Awards are much older and more established than NBC and Universal's foray into country music awards shows.
Twain correctly notes, however, that the "Cowboy Carter" artist is a star whose impact is "hard to wrap your head around."
She offers that even if Beyoncé's impact is difficult to contextualize against country's pre-existing standards, respecting the interests of the genre's fans, in total, honors both country's listeners and the genre's creative community.
To Twain, artists should be rewarded when their desires to push boundaries are commercially and socially successful.
"Being unafraid of embracing something that may feel new or surprising will actually (sustain) country's growing listener base," Twain says. "Rules and stereotypes shouldn't apply. Placing the decision of who should or shouldn't belong in country music is best as the fans' decision, first."
'Country has always been cool'
Currently, 40% of Billboard's Top 25 albums are country releases. Yes, 50% of that tally includes five years' worth of releases by Bryan and Wallen alone. However, 19-year-old Jessie Murph and 72-year-old George Strait are in that number, too.
Ask Twain about an artist she feels is missing from the conversation and she doesn't name any of her 2023 tour openers or an underground name deserving of the spotlight. Instead, she names another legend: Barbara Mandrell.
"We're headed for country's era of being everything from an outlaw genre to embracing vibrant Hollywood glamour," Twain says.
She emphasizes a point she made earlier to summarize her excitement for Thursday's event in Music City.
"Country, in all forms, never stopped being cool to me."
Some people look better in blonde hair than their original and some don't. Shania looks 10x better in her original burnette hair. Can't believe anyone tells her those wigs look good on her. She played here at Stanley cup finals in June and looked good. Also she needs to stop giving interviews that are so politically correct and kissing everyone's ass . You hear who she says her favorite modern country artist is? 😅😅 the less she says the better unless she is singing a song live
Had a blast arranging the music for tomorrow night’s show open! Thank you @shaniatwain @peopleschoice Should be an epic night! Thank you to the amazing team: Nick and RJ: @nickandrjofficial Andria: @andriadacoolest Cyrus: @cyrusjoon
I think Shania might perform live but it might just be acoustic. Brent comment on his status to a fan question. So either he means she will announce she's performing or she isn't lol
Fan: Is she performing Live? Saw you guys in Newfoundland. Like this status if she's an opening performer 😍
Shania Twain and Brad Paisley join TODAY’s Dylan Dreyer to talk about the People’s Choice Country Music Awards ahead of the star-studded show at the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
I wish she would have opened with singing at least a verse and a chorus of MIFLAW rather than just dancing to the instrumental. The comments I'm seeing on social media are not kind.

First of all twitter has always been toxic and keyboard warriors with negative comments. The negative people thrive on these platforms. You knew she would get ripped by some losers with no life for her appearance and hosting abilities. Some people just don't like her nomatter what. Just don't read social media comments lol she was having fun and was a bit awkward but not that bad at all. People say they don't recognize her and she had plastic surgery? I have no idea , that is her choice. But she looks way better with her brunette hair

I prefer she didn’t open with singing. She isn’t nominated, she doesn’t have new music out now (or announced) - she is there to facilitate the award show for those who are 🤷🏻♀️
