What the H is this all about. This in fact NOT rumour. Elton John is performing in Timmins. The concert sold out in minutes. This is well reported in the Timmins Daily Press. The is HUGE for Timmins but also unheard of. Nobody of this stature other than Shania has EVER set foot in the place. Needless to say the town is buzzing and asking...WHY???..... Well, reports indicate that Shania put the idea for him perform in Timmins while Elton was performing near HER Swiss town. Nobody in town believes that Elton just happened to take his show into the frozen tundra of NORTHERN canada by chance. The flip side is why would he do so just because she requested. Again Elton John performing live in Timmins..WOW... It is well known that he is a Shania superfan but this seems NUTS.. Got to wonder if Shania does come back that you might see this team on stage together again. Concert date March2. Timmins"arena"... It's a hockey rink for cryin out loud. Nobody has any possible explanation as to why she would make the request but somethin in cookin on this one.. Might she have a front row seat??.. Don't laugh.. Not Timmins, read the article again. Sudbury is where he is performing, Shania's birth place. Shania probably convinced him to perform in little old Sudbury.
You will never see a huge act ever perform in Timmins unless it is Shania who grew up there and calls it home. But Shania is the only massive act that will ever play Timmins. It is not worth the money and time to go over to Timmins for one concert for anyone.
Your right.. Timmins was only reporting it.. You can see why it made no sense to me. Even still playing in Sudbury(timmins big brother town) is almost as nuts. Not quite, but almost. When you consider that Elton is doing only 4 Ontario stops,and Sudbury being one of them .. Well go figure
The story gets crazier... NOW.. Sudbury News Headline...." Anne Murray follows Elton John to Sudbury".... Is something cookin here gang.??.. Elton John is huge in any city anywhere in the world..Average audience including floor seats.. 20,000-25,000.... Sudbury in the middle of NOWHERE Ontario will seat about 6500 seats max... There is just something about the headline that might mean a bit more to us guys than the norm.. We all know about the Elton/Shania connection as well as the somewhat "unusual" Anne Murray CD... Just that headline seems to have a connection to me.. ANNE MURRAY FOLLOWS ELTON JOHN TO SUDBURY...... On one hand... Maybe I am just trying to connect some dots that are not really there... On the OTHER hand, I kinda think something just feels a bit weird on this Bob
If you all think I am freaking out over this Elton John thing...You are right. Because I live in central ontario I know the region of this concert well. Sudbury is about 175 miles from Timmins. It has a population of 175,000 compared to about 45,000 in Timmins. What most do not get is this is moose country. Sudbury does not join another large community. Once you leave Sudbury you basically drive for 175 miles through rock/bush and lakes until you reach Timmins. Again you are right. I am freaked out. When local papers are indicating that Shania is responsible for as one paper states," giving Elton the idea", I feel it is really odd.. If anyone can think of her motive ,PLEASE reply cause I am at a TOTAL loss. Having said that.. I TOTALLY believe the reports that Shania is behind it as there is no other reason for him coming to this bush town to perform to a mere 6500 people other than the Shania connection.. I think it is great that Elton John is appearing there. If Shania told him about the city and that is how he got the idea thats really nice. I hope it is a terrific concert (it probably will be).

Also..While I got you on the line,I would be looking for your thoughts on WHY he is performing there and more so ,do you feel it was due to Shanias influence. Hey Shania Fan.. What the heck are you doing up so early on a Sat morning. It is just a case where it seems pretty obvious that Shania had something to do with Elton performing there with it being such a remote area. Even angie agreed that Shania may very well be behind it. Also I still feel she is going to be at the show which if true would be HUGE news.. Angie say No but I am far from convinced. Time will tell... Bob
