Banff resort in Alberta, Canada is having a huge outdoor summer bash and are trying to secure a major Canadian act. Town officials said they are in talks with Nichoel Back,Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne among others.
I highly doubt Shania would make an appearance or accept to doing a big concert outdoors in the beautiful Canadian rockies if she has no new music out. This concert would craw a huge amount of people and it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I would love Shania to do something special and surprise her fans like this but I don't think it is going to happen. I think maybe Nichoel back will be the act because they like doing these type of things and their prices or demands wouldn't be as high as Shania's.

I could name serveral big time artists who wouldnt' even think twice of doing a gig like this for their country even if they have no new music to promote. It is not all about promoting your music. Sometimes it is about giving back and just playing your hits for an hour or 2. Not all artists need to promote something in order to a do a concert for the fans or give back a little. And what is with comment about her time will come soon enough? lol!!!! You say things like that about new artists who haven't broke yet not global megastars who call all the shots lol!!! Truth be told it would be nice if Shania did something without it being all about promoting her next project. Just like the people who did live8. Some had music out to promote and it would help them but many huge acts had no new music out and just performed to help out. Shania just isn't an aritst who does things for other people or thinks about things like that. It would totally shock me if she agreed did this concert.
I think Shania gives back differently and privately. She and Mutt give lots to charity. shania is also starting up some sort of special program in Toronto that if it is successful will go national. She is not someone who gives in a big public way. She does things privately. As for my comment about her time coming.....I meant when she comes out of hiatus. Calm down Walter...it was just an opinion

You are exactly correct. Shania and Mutt do give a lot privately and many times anonymously without seeking attention or the pat on their back like so many showoff celebrities do.
Just like the award she received during a Timmins Shania Convention for her generosity during the Florida hurricanes. Had that award not been presented several months later after the fact, we would have never known about what she did.
Shows like live8 are fine, but I see most of those acts like being there for an ego fest or something. It's just to show they "care" but make sure they are seen so they can promote themselves. I think not having an ego and giving in a humbling way is admirable.

Its not all about Shania and how she wants to be percieved by people. She tries way too hard of not being noticed and it comes off as really fake sometimes. Newsflash- there are many artists who go out of their way to do live8 and other concerts when they have nothing to promote or nothing to gain except helping and using your name and talent to get the worthy cause out there. Heck, Shania hasn't even attended the fan fair in nashville for over a decade. What is your excuse for her not even finding the time to do the fan fair once in a decade? Sorry hillbilly, but Shania's excuses pile up and her faults pile up. As far as her doing good deeds in private so people don't know. That smacks more of trying too hard to not be noticed and percieved a certain way. Also we don't know exactly what she has done for sure for charity. I know she gave only 5000 to a police dog charity in Canada which is kind of cheap for someone worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Also I am sure you know about the cheap tip Shania left at a restaurent in New York a few years ago where the waiter said she left only a 5 dollar tip on a 25 dollar lunch. That is cheap even for a normal person with not much money. But she sure has time and money to buy property all over the world for millions and millions of dollars. I think fans try too hard to make her out to be better than everyone else in the industry when she comes off as not as good as many. Even entertainment reporter jimmy carter said that Shania does very little charity as compared to other country artists. And Shania has more money than all of them combined. At least she could spend time and do a concert instead of sending a cheap check.

That figure was totally unverified and is not proven. Shania is very stingy with her money for someone who is worth 500 million on her name alone and Mutt is even worth more.

I also think I read that out of the celebrities that gave for tsunami relief Sandra Bullock, Leanardo Dicaprio and Shania Twain each gave a million dollars. Nah, I am not the type of person that goes to meet and greets and wants to meet their favorite singer. When you try and meet your favorite singer chances are that they don't live up to your expectations so just listen to the music and judge them on their actions. Some have had great experiences with meeting Shania and others have said she was rude and a snob and wouldn't sign an autograph. Both are probably true, it depends on what mood she was in. I won't judge her on that because we don't know the circumstances.But like I said I choose to not meet a singer I like or sports athlete.

I actually don't mind hearing a different point of view as there's too many blinkered fans about. Shania is not perfect and fans shouldn't kid themselves that she is. Check out that thread over at the Shania Forums where nobody will post anything about the worst things about her, only what is the best things about her. It maybe just the innocence of youth and putting her on a pedestal. I enjoy her music but don't obsess over her or how she lives her life.

As far as I'm concered, most celebrities irritate me, I hate the publicity stunts, many of their history, their attitude and style, and whether they are in rehab again or not. Shania is the only one to fully captivate me and although I know she's not perfect, no one is, she's far higher on my "pedestal" list then anyone else I can think of. There are reasons to admire her and be intrigued by her past. A real breathe a fresh air and I definitely don't use my money to support nonsense.

At least we agree on something. I have been a fan of Shania's for over a decade.I have respected her privacy and her fans give her tons of privacy to make new music in private. But when the fans have been lied to and taken advantage of is when I decided to speak up as a fan. Does anyone actually believe Shania over the last many years where she uses the same line that she is working on new music? If she wanted a music album done or was seriously working on it, it would be long done by now. It is the fact that she came out last year and did tons of interviews and articles saying she is about to share her new music with the fans and will tour as soon as it is out. And now we don't know what the truth is.. I gave her the benifit of the doubt all of those years believing every word she says. what Shania is doing is taking advantage of those young fans you mentioned or even older fans who think she can do no wrong. Shania feels no obligation to do anything for her fans in the many years between albums. Thats is her choice. And nobody with common sense believes Shania is passionate about music. She finds every excuse in the book not to make music and some fans actually believe her. Even when she was making the UP cd she didn't want to finish it after 911. She said Mutt had to convince her to make it. She is so fragile mentally that she needs Mutt to convince her to make a cd.If you are passionate about music, you make music because your music can make a difference in the world. As of right now I hate to say but there are much more bad things to say about Shania than good things. Like come on, throw your fans one bone in over 6 years and do a surprise concert or something or release one single in 5 years to radio. It is quite a shame that Shania is already 42, only 3 albums of her own writing, and she decides to be a hermit in the prive of her life wasting her talent. She has zero motivation to be fan friendly or tour or make music. She has all the money in the world and doesn't need the fans anymore. It was really cruel of her to come out last year misleading the fans like that. So I am a fan of Shania's music but am not stupid or naive to believe anything she says anymore. Actions speak louder than words and by her actions she does not like music,does not like her fans, and is resting on her laurels and has no motivation.
Yes I agree. I so admire Shania for the way she conducts her life. I absolutely love the fact that she puts her family above everything else. When she does arrive on the scene again it will be as 2nd Ammendment put it "like a breath of fresh air".
