AWE SPRING HAS SPRUNG IN TIMMINS

Yes the BIG melt has began in Timmins.. Just some fun facts in case you might think that Shania doesn't know how to make a snow fort... By the way in this neck of of the woods kids alway need a snow fort as a safe place from those kids from the other side of town... ANYHOW...Timmins Average snowfall runs around 300 cm per year.. That converts to 10 feet.. This year..WELL above that..Numbers not official yet but pushing 350 cm...Almost 12 feet....Snowfight..anyone??

Wow, that is a huge amount of snow Bob. Are they worried about flooding when it starts to melt? I can picture Shania building many a fort growing up in Timmins.

AND.... I bet the most beautiful snow "Angels" one could imagine.... Maybe for those who do not get snow , I should explain
First of all try to imagine 12 feet(about 4 metres) of snow falling over about 4 months.. Well you don't live in these kind of areas without becoming exellent at snow ball fights..Trust me..some of them HURT.. Well kids being kids form alliances so these snowball fights can get nasty SOOO.. sometimes you need to seek shelter(a fort) when you are taking the worst of it.. The worst thing is when you turn up at your fort in the morning and they have snuck out in the night and destroyed it... Trust me..Being from the great white north(even being on the shy type),Shania has had her share of snowball fights and rebuilt alot of forts.. She would have made alot of snowmen..Maybe even a Dolly snowman with 2 large "mounds" on the front only to have it wrecked by the bad kids... TRUST me..All of these things Shania has done(well maybe not the Dolly part) and they are memories she will never forget.. It is because of roots like this that she has made her decisions on where she resides today.. Bob

That is a large average snowfall.  And I was told that Timmins was not receiving the type of snows or temps they once did?

Snowballs and snow forts, such memories.  Shania snow angels?, hmm... lol.  Nice thought.

Shania a cute little snow bunny. smile

That is a huge amount of snow for just 4 months is'nt it? lol I can imagine Shania and her siblings and friends having snow ball fights and building forts or snowmen. Deerhurst Lodge must be beautiful in the winter. Actually Bob, you make it sound like it would be a great place to go on vacation.

I will go along with Bob.

And in comparison between Timmins and Huntsville, both regions are scenic beauties, but Timmins is definitely the harder blue collar type of region economically in town and whatnot. A little rougher around the edges if you will while Huntsville is more upper class and "clean" around town and whatnot.

Timmins I'd say has a few intimidating characters around town, lol, while Huntsville has more laid back and approachable atmosphere.

100 percent right ...Folks...If you have not been to Timmins you really don't understand the miracle of Shania.. If you have not seen Muskoka/Deerhurst you don't know the beauty... She must have thought when she got that deerhurst gig...Man..This is as good as it gets...Little did she know

it must be an unforgetable experience for every shania fan,i d sure love to go.

i want to visit the Centre so badly but it won't be during the Fan Convention as i work summers,i guess i have to just go there for just a simple visit.

Just remember...If you ever go in the winter...Watch out for the snowballs.. Those little Timmins kids would LOVE to drill some Greek girl with a snowball....On the other hand if you don't get snow where you are you might LOVE it...Until your ears, fingers, toes, etc start to freeze... Then it might be saying.......Get me the H out of here...Bob

I too want to visit Timmins and the convention centre country gal. Bob and 2nd ammendment have described a beautiful place. I can just imagine Shania thinking she had a great gig when she started working at Deerhurst Bob. Maybe we can all create a convention for Shania in Timins by all going there at the same time. Would'nt that be a hoot.

oh my,i'm going to end up high and dry big time but it will worth it.

but first shania has to put some music out.

OK... As you might imagine...I am a MAJOR planner in life... This is how it could work... I rent a 12 person mini van..Pick you guys up at Toronto airport...2.5 hours later we are at deerhurst... Rent one of the 6 bedroom villas..The are A frame chalets(private owned) facing Fairy Lake AND alot cheaper in the long run(per person)... NOTE...Girls on one side...Guys on the other...Lulu..You are in charge of the booze bill since I paid for the van rental..The rest pay for the groceries.. We can get them in Huntsville.. 3 nights.. As far as Timmins..One LONG drive to the STC.. Call me out on that one........WOW....What a blast...Either we would love each other after 3days or never talk again...OH  MAN....We would be the buzz of every Shania site on the net..Imagine the rumours... The guys of course being guys...We just show up..The girls... Special new outfits and hair cuts cause you have to look HOT.....Count me in....Bob

Yup, the Timmins run can be done during times when there was no convention. Huntsville does have a Walmart where I've bought groceries before to make the trip to the Mattagami cabin we were staying. Right across the Walmart parking lot is a gas station we can tank up and go. I recall Timmins was about a 5 1/2 - 6 hour trip from Huntsville. Right up the scenic HWY 11. Gorgeous.

I think we should hold onto this idea and see how it plays out. Personally I think it would be a great time. My husband is a real fan of shania's too and he would like to come along too. I know we could easily make our own convention. It would be quite a vacation ....how many days do you think we would need Bob?
