RE: When will Shania's new cd come out?

When I first listened to songs like 'You're still the one' after I heard the news about Shania and Mutt's split, I admit, it felt kinda strange because I knew that they'd wrote that song about themselves. It was a personal labor of love for both of them, as all the songs they've written were, but then I realised that it's still a GOOD SONG; I still dedicate it to someone close to MY heart and it still holds great memories for ME and MY life. Just because her personal life has changed, that doesn't reflect badly on her music, no matter who wrote it. I'm sure it's a different story for Shania who will obviously feel sadness when she sings/listens to them again, but for us, we just have to see these tracks for what they are: Great songs!

Hey Stevie...Again welcome... Its hard to argue your point but isn't there a part of you that says...Lets start from scratch...The extension to your point in my view is should she throw out everything her and Mutt MAY HAVE(note may have) worked on since  she went for her"rest".  Personally I can accept the stuff that is already released by the mutt/shania team but NOTHING new from them ...PLEASE...If she does release it I will want to be mad at her but I won't..It will just be a case that she doesn't know better. Most woman would hardly answer a telephone if she new it was her X phoning.. If Shania decides to release love songs written by her and mutt it should tell the site everything..It will be at that time I will sadly say..I told you folks

I think it depends on how Mutt and Shania work out the divorce. I am assuming they have been talking behind the scenes and have been quietly working out the proceedings. If Shania can work out how she feels about Mutt and move on from the betrayal and pain she may very well release some of the songs she wrote with him. I think it all depends on how she feels about him. Personally, I hope she takes all the songs they may have written together and gets a new producer to produce them. Actually, I think the songwriting task went to Shania so maybe they are more her songs then his. I guess only time will tell how this will play out as I am sure songs written and produced so far will be classified as joint property in their divorce. I really wish this never happened.

Great points from everyone.

I'm asking myself now; Would I release the songs if I were in that situation? Personally, I don't think I would, but that's just me speaking personally. I've read that Shania and Mutt developed problems because they were disagreeing when it came to writing music in the studio, so I have to think that Shania is more in control of her music than Mutt was, but I could be wrong.

The reasonable side of me is hoping that Shania does her own stuff and comes back kicking ass to prove that she CAn do it (because she can), but the selfish and impatient Shania fan in me wants new music NOW! lol!

I just don't know......

I gotta tell ya Bob, the more I read your posts...
The less I wanna read them. You are so utterly contemptuous!
I'm not chasing you around either, you're on every thread.
So why is it that you want Shania to be a broken down, toothless old hag
Scavenging for french-fries along with the crows at McDonald's?
Repeatedly, you say she's "fragile" or "sad" or "confused." And now this? "Personally I can accept the stuff that is already released by the mutt/shania team but NOTHING new from them ...PLEASE... If she does release it I will want to be mad at her but I won't.. It will just be a case that she doesn't know better."
Doesn't know any better???
You think you can run her life better I suppose.
You Sir, are out of you ever-lovin' mind!
Post after post after post of this nonsense.  blahblah.gif
I don't know how she ever made it this far without you Bob?
Oh yeah! According to you, Mutt saved her sorry behind.
Maybe he can save yours too?  fear.gif
Then he could snake it out so all that pomposity would drain.
However, if you think 2010 is the earliest the next release will drop,
With all the fire and ambition that many, MANY here feel she has now?
Hey, that next comet is due along anytime. Lucky you got a window seat!
But 2010 might just be your year after all, oh mystical Guru...
Perhaps by then we'll find the person that "stole" your avatar.
*lol*

Hey Aaron.... I really think if you put the dots together and think out all the stuff she has to deal with,2009 is a no go...As I have indicated I would hope that she has the self dignity within herself to trash any music that mutt and her have been working on. If she does that leaves her with squat...Starting from scratch she needs to come along way before any CD could be ready..Personally I think that 2009 is WAY to optimistic . The flip side is she should be ready in 2010..One year is a big difference...IF however it doesn't come in 2010 why would it come in 2011....IT WON"T...My call 2010 or....Turn out the light..the party's over...BOb

You'd be surprised  how quick you can record an album, that's if you're not working with an obsessive like Mutt. Alot of producers can do it in a month or less. It's only Mutt who spends a year in the studio. The problem could be Shania getting the songs ready before she hits the studio You can bet Mutt won't let her record any stuff she may have been working on with him. He likes to be the producer as well as taking writing credits. Shania is going to need completely new songs before she starts recording. She may be able to write on her own, but she may need a writing partner also. She may have got used to writing as part of a duo after all this time. I think we're looking well into next year for a release.

I agree with George,
maybe Mutt won't let her use those songs they have wrote together, well if this is going to be the case then Mutt would prove what a dog really is.
i think we will be suprised, not sure pleasantly or not but we'll be surprised.
and yes, another good point from George, shania may find difficult to write songs all by herself again after all these years.
i believe in  2009.

Mutt wouldn't work with The Darkness a few years back, because they wouldn't agree to his demands for writing credits on some songs. He learned 20 odd years ago that you don't become rich by just producing. Every act his worked with in the last 20 years have had to share songwriting credits with him. That's where his got his 500 million from.

Yes, Mutt is a smart business man. If he helped writing then he should get writing credits. I cannot help but feel that Shania played a role in how her cds were produced. I think it is sad that Mutt never allowed her to have producing credits.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with Shania using songs she may have written with Mutt. Having said that I don't think she will. I read in an article that Shania had a stash of 500 songs plus. These songs no one has heard or scene. She has never let Mutt hear them or see them.....I think she is a story tellar and will come up with songs fairly quickly. Maybe she will use some of the songs in her stash. I bet there is'nt a producer out there that would not want to work with her. Bob, I think she is stronger than you think and I think she is going to be just fine. I really believe we will see a new cd in 2009 at the latest.

Every track from COO, UP! and the Greatest Hits were all co-written (with the exception of You Win My Love penned solely by Lange). However, on the Woman In Me CD, a few of the heartbreak songs (If There Life After Love? and Leaving Is The Only Way Out) were her own and credited as Shania Twain.

RE: shania's new album

Quote from GQ magazine (2003)

"I don't want to be recording songs about my innermost pain and angst and I'm not sure people want to hear that right now. Maybe I'll explore that area when I'm older."

Shania may decide to pour out that side of her now, and we don't mind if she does.

Boo hoo,

Man what a bunch of whiny babies...........

She is a human being......Not like she hasn't been working for the past 6 years. Two fragrances and a greatest hits album.......She's a mother now.....Being a good mom is at the top of her list...Why don't you go listen to faith hill or Sarah evens...Stop whining.......

The woman is tired, She has done alot in her life, Now she wants to enjoy it...and she has every right to do what she feels is right for her and her son....Why some of you don't understand that, i don't know...Maybe some of you should grow up and realize she isn't a music box and sings with a slot of a quarter......

Then again, Non of you probably work in the music business...really don't know how hard it is.......

You guys have no respect for Eileen Twain (the person) Thats why you say the things you do about her not releasing a new album. Or you call her selfish and not caring......

She's real selfish, She's given more money to Second Harvest Then you'll ever make in your live time, times 500000. She is sooooo selfish!!

I am not to worried about an album coming out because i respect her as a human being as a mom, a person who donates her time and money for hundreds of great causes, as an entrapaneur who's gone from nothing to everything.......She is more than music. She is a fantastic individual mind and spirit.......

But from what i see, All she is to some people is an asset to their CD collection......Sad Really.....

Absolutely!

And I think maybe Shania after the GQ interview will dive into real personal emotions now.

As for whining, what whining?  We here are more supportive then the rest.  We all know Shania loves music and where did we get the impression we said Shania doesn't care, she's selfish and all that?  That ONE member isn't here anymore.  I'm behind her all the way, always have been, and argued with those who said negative nonsense.

I am with you there Joe. I think Shania can sing a heartbreak song just as well as she sings an upbeat humourous song. This board supports Shania

Hello producer,
first of all you got us all wrong,no one here cares about music right now,we all want shania to sort out her divorce.
these post you are referring to are old,and one particular member is not here anymore,i can assure you, everybody here is a good fan.
personally i would NEVER say shania is selfish,i know all about the school program in Canada where she gives money EVERY single month.
when i heard the separation news i got really sad because i hate to know shania is sad herself.
and FYI this August i'm going to the Centre,i'm going to travel all the way from Europe, now am i a good fan or not yet??

I just saw some statistics in the paper that stated Shania sold more albums than the Beatles? Wow. I think for her new cd she should do a remake of an old Linda Ronstadt song "You're No Good" She could really rock that and dedicate it to Mutt.

Not that she would do a cover-tune necessarily, but that would be a good one.
In the video, I can see her as a lion-tamer whipping not cats, but MEN into proper behavior. (did I really say that?) ohmygod.gifOr maybe below deck on an old time ship shouting out orders for the oarsmen; "And rest, 2, 3, 4, STROKE!" *lol*
Linda really belted out those vocals, and I'm sure Shania's version would be awesome too!

I so agree. Shania could really belt that one out. All of us here are hoping Shania gets well by that I mean she is able to handle the divorce proceedings well and gets custody of Eja. No one here is calling Shania lazy or anything else. We just want her to be healthy and well.

Same here Tina, that would be a shock and I'd be out of my head but I think kelc317 is right on, we'll never see Shania like that no way no how. She can keep it together without resorting to that. She's been very consistent for 14 years in the pubic eye. This gal is the real deal. No PR, she's just who she is. Hallelujah to that!

I always wondered if Shania's heart was broken before. Some of her songs are so insightful about heartache. I can't imagine her songs after this. I think her writing will be therapy for her. God bless her and her child.

True and I recall Shania herself saying something similar of her parents looking after her and telling her everything will be okay.

I don't think that Shania is an angel. I mean, we all have a couple of things
we'd like to do over again right? What I think she does have though is an incredible way of cutting through the bs and getting through to the heart of the matter. Sometimes this is confused with being a witch, but really it's just the straightest route between two points.

I think with the divorce though she got completely blindsided. I know it hurts
a helluva lot more when you get burned by those you thought you could trust!
It's gotta hurt, but I think that after awhile she'll sort things through and come out no worse for wear. In fact, the future is such an open canvass for her she can do anything... There really is no way but UP!

:)

She will have to gather evidence like phone, email and text records, so far she only has sources from people who claim to know of their involvement.
