you are right Lulu,shania loved and i guess still loves that man,it is so sad to know that shania is not happy once again in her life.
i was always telling to people around me that she 've been through a hell but i guess it was all worth it because she's got a good husband, and that is very importand and they are friends and musical partners,the complete relationship.
so now i feel like a fool,i don't know what to believe anymore,is it just the way it's supposed to be?? stay in love for a few years and then nothing??
i don't know,i've always been afraid of marriage because i was more afraid of the divorce,and now i'm even more afraid.
if shania and Mutt,who wrote all that beautiful and powerful music together,couldn't make it,then what's the odds for me??
i just thought that writing music with the one you love brings you even more closer to each other,because music comes from the heart,it's nothing but feelings.

In Touch Weekly is reporting:

"Shania is hopeful that the breakup won't impact her music since three of her hit albums have been produced by Mutt. "Shania has a 2008 release date for her next album and wants to SCRAP the tracks she already laid down with Mutt and start from scratch. She is going to prove to the world she can make it without him", says the friend."

Yes this sounds insane. How could is ever possibly go so wrong that you don't want anything to do with this guy, the father of your son when things were so good? That doesn't sound like Shania the family oriented work all difficulties out kind of woman. Last year her music updates, everything sounded fine, now this?

Maybe people are speaking before thinking. When people are mad at each other they do strange things. Hopefully they just need a timeout, regroup, and think things over. For the sake of marriage, their long deep unbreakable love, and the beautiful family they made with their son. I like many of the points you made kay.

Hey Folks...Yes Linda..I was kind of thinking the same thing...Personally I was thinking of growth in her official fan club...Really not much of an expense but would send the message.
As far as her separating herself from Mutt in a music sense...I TOTALLY SUPPORT IT...IF the separation turns out to be from a Mutt affair I really would have difficulty supporting the decision to continue their music relationship...To see the name Mutt Lang/Shania Twain on a new CD....WAY to much for me to handle and personally I do not think the Shania I know would EVER consider it unless her self esteem as a person has dipped to a frightening level.
I think we all need to remember things are much different now...Really stop and think...How many superstar producers would kill to sign up with Shania Twain.She could go forward with dignity. InTouch is also a print magazine. They could have more information in the magazine than they do on their website.

Yes, there would be dozens of producers who are not ancient in material like Mutt has become that would want to work with Shania. She can also get deserving co-producing credits this time. She will find dignity and move on.

Mutt who never gives an interview has talked to People magazine (over the phone of course) and now to this paper quoted as saying "Irreconciable differences" why do I get the feeling that Mutt has already sought legal advice about divorcing shania. I have a bad feeling about this. It will be highly unlikely that anyone will be able to prove that Marie Ann was involved even though neither of them is denying that they were involved. Only that the involvement is not the reason for the divorce. I really hope Mutt is fair to Shania, their holdings should be divided fairly. I also hope beyond hope she retains custody of Eja. As for the article. I believe Shania sacrificed alot for Mutt out of love. It was sad to see her at award shows alone. It was sad to see her at all the functions on her own. She was head over heels in love with this guy. Once the pain fades the anger will come. Hopefully she will seek out a good lawyer who will protect her rights. All I can say is that after reading that article 2nd ammendment I realize Mutt could not have been that easy to live with. I think we should keep Shania, Eja and yes Mutt too in our prayers.

Pretty much the same feeling here lulu.  It's a sad situation and the more it seems it was difficult to be with a guy like Mutt and all his ways and demands.

I especially I agree with what you said in the part I highlighted in your message.

 

You're welcome Tommy.  That was given to me by a former member.

Based upon stuff in other books and quotes from people that have worked with Mutt, we do know that he can be really controlling in the studio. Maybe when they were working in the studio, it brought everything to a head.

However, people can change, so if Mutt was too controlling with her, maybe he'll learn from his mistakes and fix it. She just sent him the shock of his life by leaving him and maybe that is what he needed to see the error of his ways. Mutt pursued her to get her in the first place, so he's up to the challenge of pursuing her this time and fixing the issues.

I don't think that Shania and Mutt will actually divorce. After some time apart, level heads will prevail and they'll begin to communicate with each other. Also, Eja will be a key factor in all of this. Mutt seems devoted to him, so I don't think Mutt will want to be separated from him on a day-to-day basis. Imagine what a shock all this is for that poor kid!

In a few months, I hope that we hear of a Mutt and Shania reunion.

Does anyone know if Mutt is in Switzerland? I hope that he has sneaked into Canada and is wooing his wife!

That would be beautiful I can only hope that is the case kay and all this news is not as serious as it's being made. There's always hope.

 Tommy, I was just at the newsstand and that quote is right from the InTouch magazine.  It's in the issue with Ashlee Simpson on the cover.  Their is just a small half page piece on Shania's split in the mag, but they also say something along the lines of "the split is all about an outrageously controlling husband, and a wife who didn't want to be dictated to any more".  They say that the split was basically building up for years.

Looks like Shania Twain didn't make it

Last week's announcement that Shania Twain and hubby-producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange are splitting up is sad, if not utterly a shock. After all, if anything is part and parcel of country music tradition, it's D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Nevertheless, it's always hard to hear about a marriage that's failed, doubly so when there are kids involved. Of course, celebrity splits are practically a daily occurrence, the baggage that comes with fame and fortune astronomically amplifying the challenges every couple faces in trying to nurture love over the long term.

Yet what immediately went through my mind when I heard the news was her 1998 hit "You're Still the One."

Look how far we've come my baby

We mighta took the long way

We knew we'd get there someday

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"

But just look at us holding on

We're still together still going strong

When it went to No. 1 on the country chart, it was a quintessential crystallization of country's shift away from songs that rapple with life's struggles to those that are eager -- perhaps overeager -- to revel in its victories.

No doubt country radio stations will continue to play "You're Still the One" when programmers are waxing nostalgic over those halcyon days of the late-'90s, and it probably won't lose its appeal to country fans marking golden wedding anniversaries.

But I always marveled that this ode to romantic stability topped the chart shortly after she and Lange celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary.

Twain's song doesn't simply highlight country's forsaking of reality for fantasy, but the wish to treat fantasy as reality.

It's not as if anyone would care that Twain hadn't been in this relationship long enough even to outlast one of the toasters they surely received as a wedding gift.

Contrast this cut-to-the-happy-ending tune with the time-weathered love songs June Carter and Johnny Cash sang to each other in the final years of their lives, after nearly half a century of marital ups and downs.

When George Jones sang about "living and dying with the choices I've made" at Stagecoach this month, there wasn't an ounce of calculation or wish fulfillment at work. It's why real people shed real tears as they listened.

Music, of course, needn't always be 100% factual any more than all film should be cinéma vérité. But it needs to be rooted in truth, and country music especially thrives on believability.

"You're Still the One" might have worked coming from someone like Loretta Lynn, who married Oliver "Mooney" Lynn in 1948 and put her career on hold while caring for him before his 1996 death, despite the considerable shortcomings as a husband and father he'd displayed during their marriage.

As Twain moves on with her life and career, here's hoping that the fizzling of the fantasy might just open the door to an honest song about failure.

As for Hazel Smith, she is right when she says Shania was way too "pretty" for Mutt and I mean that from a more deeper aspect than physical. She is right in saying that in 14 years this is the first time he speaks about his marriage. It's a shame the man never attended any event or function with her. Never was there to show support and never came out to say how wonderful of a wife he has and all the critics should back off. That's sad!

She was left to fend for herself and that she did, and that she will continue to do!

I'm behind her all the way.

The news of domestic unrest in Shania Twain's life is troubling. If the Shania Twain-Robert "Mutt' Lange split is permanent, it will be a monumental creative divorce. Maybe not a pairing and subsequent split-up on the order of Lennon-McCartney, but, nevertheless, the Twain-Lange musical partnership remains the most successful collaboration ever in country music history. Together, they built a country music edifice like no other.

If she never sets foot in another recording studio, Shania Twain's legacy is forever set and secure. Although I for one certainly hope she is not done with her career. Her music and her place in the pantheon of modern country music are unassailable. At her height, she personified a free and exuberant country-pop sound and exuded a certain wholesome sexiness that transformed the image of Woman as country artist. She set concert ticket sales records, she sold more records than any woman country artist ever, she went from country star to international pop superstar, and her groundbreaking videos forever changed the concept of country music as a video form. Astonishingly, her breakthrough, epochal album, The Woman in Me, sold multi-multi-platinum without her touring at all to push it. She supported the album entirely with music videos. That had not been done before and has not been accomplished since.

I've been surprised this week, and shouldn't have been, I guess, by the outpouring of support and sympathy and just plain love that I've heard expressed for her. This is a woman who is obviously very much admired for what she's done and who she is. As an artist, as a woman and as a mother, she has been a true role model. She has been a true music professional, remained scandal-free, above petty Nashville jealousies and rivalries and has always remained a musical benchmark. And she has firmly kept her private life close and private. She opened doors in country music for many women, most of whom made the best of the opportunity, but some of whom have perhaps abused the privilege.

My first glimpse of Twain was at a fairly small Mercury press party early in her career when she was just beginning to hit big. Industry women clustered around her to get a glimpse of this exotic new creature. One woman who worked her way near enough for a close scrutiny emerged from the scrum of onlookers to report to her girlfriends, and she exclaimed, 'Shania's this big around!" -- and she held her hands together to approximate about a 12-inch waist.

Twain's allure was greatly enhanced by her videos, which truly were revolutionary for the time for country music. She was hectored at the time of the "Any Man of Mine" video, with its belly button barrage, for ruining country music by exposing her navel. But that's about all she ever really did show, when you look back at her video work. She slyly hinted at the rest. And six months after that video midriff revelation, you couldn't walk down Music Row without encountering seeming hordes of midriff-baring babes with their navels hanging out. I remarked on that phenomenon to Trisha Yearwood, who wryly said, "If I can't see my navel, then no one else is going to."

Twain was sensual without being slatternly, was glamorous without overreaching and managed to do everything well without overstating anything. And for my money, Shania made the all-time sexiest country music video ever with "The Woman in Me." It could be sub-titled "Shania Twain's Great Pyramids." It is truly a classic example of music perfectly wedded to form and movement.

Her life and career were country music's true fairy tale. She came from a broken home in rural Canada and often sang for the family's supper as a child. After her parents were killed in a car wreck, she raised her younger siblings, supporting the little family by singing at a resort.

Poor girl escapes poverty and makes good, meets and writes and records with her prince, marries her prince, and they have huge success together and then leave it all behind to go off to live happily ever after in a storybook castle in Switzerland. And to raise a family together.

But castles can be cold and drafty and unhappy places, and it turned out that they didn't live happily ever after. Together, at least. Real life rudely interrupted their fairy tale. What's next? I certainly wouldn't presume to guess. I can only hope all goes well for her.

I agree with Lulu, I hope she doesn't go through depression. She has many fans to support her no matter what and she will pull through. She's a very strong woman and her son is there for her also, although he may not understand. I too hope this doesn't become messy, and wonder if they are going to continue to write with each other as "friends" or if they are just going to go their seperate ways. I think with some time apart, they may realize that they still love one another, but who knows. I can't imagine the pain and anger, let alone emotions she's going through right now.

This is just something that shouldn't ever have happened and a darling like shania should have never experienced. I read the Extra report, 950 million worth between the two and all they owned to be split up. I'm happy to hear Eja is with Shania in Huntsville. He must either be enrolled in a new school (most likely private) or with a tutor. I know he's in the best of care with his mother.

Such a sad situation. The whole dang thing.

Their break up made the cover of People magazine that comes out Friday.  It's the same pic from US Weekly this past week (from Redbook).  It's the full cover this time.  Anyway, People posts their mags online now so, folks who live outside of the US and Canada, can still read it.  I wonder if there's any new quotes from Shania or Mutt or family members? 

I can not understand how somebody can do this to Shania. This bothering me a lot, can not get it out of my mine everyday i think about it,can not sleep at night worrying about Shania and Eja and there well being,because we can not help support Shania. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT MUSIC,just her well being.
