RE: SHANIA AND MUTT SPLIT!

Well totals always mean more to me than averages. You can spin figures and other stuff anyway. If Shania wants to become the true best selling female of all time ahe needs to release more albums. That said too, she can't expect to keep selling at her previous standards. Shania only needs to worry about breaking the country music records anyway. That pleases me the most when she puts one over her biggest critics.

I just looked at the eurpean  hall of fame and Shania is on the European walk of fame.

Country music has nothing to do with this  because Shania is already the biggest selling country female of alltime.
And why would Shania care what anyone country music critic says about her? She has nothing to prove. She became bigger than country music and has the power to do as she pleases.

Okay Kevy! I'll apologise for calling you a stalker, that was out of order. However you must admit you do have a reputation for been an obsessive fan around the Internet. I'm still new to the net ,but I have already heard alot of negative things about you. You seem to cause problems on any board you turn up.

I take your point that 80 million albums sold with just 4 albums is staggering by any count. Hoever 200-300 million sold with say 15 is even more impressive. It's a marathon not a sprint. Anyhow I don't care about the sales or how rich she is, only Kevy needs them statistics to get him through the night.

Maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read about others. People who have a problem with a different view are the ones who complain.
And Madonna hasn't even sold anywhere close to those numbers you put up. That has to be the most inflated numbers ever. If you go  by how many albums Madonna sold, it would be closer to 100 million. 70% of sales are from the States and she is only ceritifed at 60 million in the States. And it doesn't matter how popular you are in the rest of the world there is no way she has sold that much that you claim.

By chance is Madonna in the European Hall Of Fame, and how many countries over there is she on the walk of fame?

I agree, Madonna's numbers are way over inflated.  Just like Garth Brooks with his many double albums and re releases.  He's sold over 100 million in the States, but I think his actual soundscan numbers are like 65-70 million.  That's a huge difference.  I think Shania's RIAA numbers in comparison to her actual sales are 47 million to about 35 million.  Not overly inflated at all.  The UP double count is the real kicker.

Had Shania been around just a few more years longer as say Mariah or longer like Celine and Madonna and released 2-3 more albums, she could easily be over the 60 million USA mark and 100 million mark worldwide.  I still say my calculation of total albums sold divided by total individual albums released is super impressive.

Of course that was then this is now.  The days of diamond albums are gone.  No new released album will go diamond any time soon.  It will take many years if it is a good album.  If you can sell 4+ million these days you are doing something right.  I don't double Shania's next album will be multi-platinum.  It should help her break the 50 million mark US.

Madonna sold mainly because of her sexuality. she really exploited that aspect in her career. shania on the otherhand was charming and wholesome her music sold itself and she made us laugh over male/female relationships

Even rich and beautiful people can't stop spouse from straying

Posted By TANYA ENBERG

Ah, yes, they're just like us.

They shop for groceries, spend time with the kids and they find a stranger's lipstick on their husband's collar.

They're celebrities wronged and Christie Brinkley -- the woman with the world-famous girl-next-door beauty -- is the latest to join the club. Her very public divorce from architect Peter Cook, her hubby of 10 years, revealed he couldn't keep his "peter" away from an 18-year-old employee.

So, the question on this cat's mind is this: If a former Sports Illustrated model can't keep her partner from straying, what hope is there for the rest of us?

When it comes to fidelity, fame doesn't matter, says Noel Biderman, president of AshleyMadison.com, a controversial web-site that helps cheaters connect (and boasts over two million members).

"You can be a Hollywood star, a model," says Biderman. "It doesn't come down to beauty, it doesn't come down to power. If you were doing a poll of hot or not, you wouldn't put Princess Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles in the same category."

More recently, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and wife Cynthia have called it quits after reports tied him romantically to Madonna.

Cheating is also said to be to blame for the breakup of Shania Twain and Robert (Mutt) Lange; Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon; Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman; Marilyn Manson and burlesque queen Dita Von Teese ... and the list goes on.

"The majority of men are coming because of a lack of physical intimacy," Biderman says, whereas female cheaters tend to be seeking validation, trying to fill an emotional void after marital bliss fades and they "feel like they've been sold a bad barrel of goods."

Does that mean marriage is officially passe? I wonder.

Somewhat surprisingly, Biderman -- whose job helps fuel infidelity -- doesn't think so. "My guess is that it's under assault," he says.

Then again, Binderman is a married man and he believes that monogamy's still got legs.

So what is missing?

Biderman believes if couples could openly discuss fantasies without judgment, they would "have much more fulfilling sex lives."

- - -

CHEAT SHEET

. 24 per cent of men and 23 per cent of women would tell their partner if they had sex with someone else;

. 30 per cent would confess to kissing someone else;

. Almost 40 per cent would admit to flirting.

Marriage is what 2 people make it!
I was married for 14 yrs,and would be still, buut unfortunately,
my wife is no longer here!If yo cheat on your spouse then some body is not
putting 100 eprcent into the relationship, and it was probably doomed to
begin with! Most woman/men won't tell their spouses that they cheated
unless there was a reason for the discussion to come up to begin with!
If you know what I mean?Like the toilet seat being left up,lipstick on the collar, clothes that don't belong to you, etc.!

Hello all fellow Shania fans.smile

This is my first post here on Tommy's and I would like to say that over the last few weeks I have been following and ENJOYING all your conversations across the boards.

To try to explain why I am such a big fan of Shania and why I have decided to join in and contribute to this particular thread I first need to give you a quick! summery of my personal story.
[please bare with me whilst I get this out]

My husband and I have been married for 20years and we have two grown children.
We met when I was 17years old and after only going out on a few dates [literally] I fell pregnant.
We experienced much grief and hostility from all those around us. i.e. family, friends. Neither of us had much life experience, especially at caring and raising a baby. We hardly knew one another!! And had no income!
But we did realise that we only had ourselves to blame for our predicament and we would just have to deal with it.

To keep a longer story as short as possible I will skip many points but the top and bottom of it is that we managed to estabalish ourselves together as a couple, but we experienced many terrible, traumatic and difficult situations in the process.

We were financially poor and struggling, in debt, under pressure, arguing, worrying. You name it, we were feeling it and experiencing it.
Things took a turn for the worse after the baby arrived [extra pressure] and that's when he turned violent.

I was frightened, upset, stressed and felt all alone! [and was 18 years old at this point]
There was NO WAY I could confide to anyone what was happening. I didn't really understand myself.

Anyway it wasn't long before our second child arrived. Things seemed to be coasting along in much the same way and the years started to pass by.

Then one day whilst we were watching t.v a song was played that captured our attention. It was Shania singing ' you're still the one'. Now although I had instantly liked it myself it was my husbands reaction that amazed me.

He acted completely out of character! He pulled me up out of the chair, wrapped his arms tight around me and proceeded to kiss me so lovingly and sweet!!
Of course I was stunned and asked him what I had done to deserve that!
He explained that whilst he listened to the song he realised how lucky he was to have an amazing wife [that would be ME!!!] and blessed to have two wonderful children. He apologised sincerly for his horrible treatment and vowed {and has kept to that vow to this day} to be a loving partner.
Then he made the grand anouncement that she could have written that song just for us. IT WAS OUR SONG.

We realised that we were both determined for our marriage to last and through pride, stubbeness, will power and a common goal we could achieve it. The very next day I went out and bought the CD and discovered all the other wonderful songs. Each and every one relevent and personal to either me or us as a couple. It felt like Shania Twain knew us in some way!!

I am very proud now that through my love of Shania and her fantastic music I learned how to improve our own situation, learned how to be a good wife and mother [It is still a job in process!!] learned how to support and encourage my husband, to which he responded too well! and most definitely I have grown to respect, admire and recognise all the wonderful qualities my own husband has!

I have all Shania's albums, DvD's, seen her live in concert once, have a lot of her t.v appearances taped. All of which are listened to repeatedly over and over and often!!

So yes I am a mega big fan of Shania and feel like I owe her something personally. I try to pay this debt that I feel I owe her by being a loyal and dedicated fan.

I've invested time, money, and a lot of love and respect in her now so it would take something pretty horrendous for me to stop supporting her.

HOWEVER and this is the reason for this long rambling post--Although I agree with and support many of the wonderful and valid points that you have all made regarding Shania and Mutt and this whole sorry state, in all honesty I find myself agreeing wholeheartedly and indeed have been sat here nodding along in agreement with everything that ZIPPYDOO has had to say!!!

I can only hope that Shania, Mutt and Eja all find peace and happiness! in whatever they choose to do!

Life is short--we should enjoy it !!

Thanks for posting, I was ZIPPYDOO.
I tell it as I see it. I am a huge Shania fan and will always be but I am not naive either.
Thanks for telling your story.Lets hope Shania back up her words this time and we will be seeing alot of her soon.
She has many fans who have defended her and gave her that great lifestyle.
We have been nothing but patient the last 6 years when she was shopping and travelling.
We care about her music and thats what drew us together as fans.
Lets hope she shows passion for music and is straight with the fans and we see alot of Shania in 2009.

Welcome to our board Shania rocks. Yes Shania is great is she not. Like everyone here I am hoping for a November 09 release with a new song out in August/September. It seems that is when the big acts come out with new music and that is when Shania's UP came out. I am hoping we will get a leak as to who the producer will be soon.

That is way too late, that is still a year from now.
Time has passed.
Shania has wasted so much time of her life already and so much of her talent. She is 43 years old already.
I am sorry to say that if Shania waits yet another year and it won't come out till late 2009 then that is too late in my books.
She should get the album recorded now and put it out early next year. Many big acts like Madonna and Mariah Carey have put out recent albums in the early part of the year.

Hi Guy's

Thanks for the replies and welcome!

Once again I do agree with Everybodyloves Kevy.
I too think a year from now is way too late.

After her appearance at the CMA's she is now back on the radar. Also with news of the split she is still on the fans mind a lot just now. She needs to strike whilst the iron is hot!
Or she does at least need to keep a high profile and get herself seen regularly!

Also whilst I am here I am wondering if anyone can help me out with a question I have that despite all the years I have been a fan I have still yet to find out the answer too!

'Do you know if Mutt calls his wife Shania or is she Eilleen when they are at home' [sorry 'were' at home!!!!]

It is probably an irrelevent and personal question but it is one of the many things I have always been curious about and would like to know.

Yes I am nosey!

Hey Katie...As i guess as you know I have lots of opinions but only state them in the corner. I only come out to report news type things or ask questions. Having said that it makes it look like sometime before Nov 2009 you feel the CD should arrive. Could you explain why you feel Nov 2009 is too late and clarify what it is too late for?...Record sales maybe?.. Like I said ..please clarify...Bobby boy

Hi Bob

I probably am thinking record sales with regards to dates and releases. Interest is no doubt high at the moment but as time passes the fickle public [NOT US} will move on to the next latest hot topic!!

Of course Shania does have a well established dedicated fan base and will most likely be successful in whatever she chooses to do.

I probably am thinking more for myself as an impatient and excitable fan.

Every year I've waited and my hopes rise with each passing year. I just want new music NOW!

I can guantee I will be first in line at my local HMV when the realease day is finally here.

My husband always refers to me as love {as well as other names which I couldn't possibly reveal!} haha!
I often call my children love or lovey too.

I may be being ignorant here but what does the ' Woody' name mean? How does it associate with Shania. Am I missing something??

BUT what I really was trying to discover {still am} is whenever Mutt refers to her, for instance when speaking of her to other people, what name does he use then. Does anyone know?

Had she already changed her name when they met or was it after?

I'm curious about this because she has often said that when she is at home she is just herself--Eilleen
but when she is performing, being interviewed and generally being the star she adopts her Shania persona!

Hence my curiousity. Actually now I'm thinking about it more, what name do her brothers and sisters call her?

Is she officially 'Shania' to everyone???
