Canada Day bash at Shania Centre

Posted By BY JESSICA YOUNG, THE DAILY PRESS

Timmins is celebrating Canada Day in full force this year with a host of activities to keep everyone busy.

The Shania Twain Centre is once again hosting festivities, which include karaoke, bouncing inflatables for children, kids' games, face painting and a free pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a. m.

"You should be proud and celebrate Canada Day," Shania Twain Centre tourism representative Andrea O'Callaghan said.

Activities will be held at the centre and at the Gold Mine Tour site as well. Mine tours will be offered at half-price during the nation's birthday.

Visitors are asked to don their finest red-and-white apparel because someone will be crowned best dressed Canadian.

Free shuttle services have been sponsored by The Daily Press, Timmins Square and Timmins Gold Mine Tour to help attendees get to and from the centre easily.

The official cake cutting takes place at 11 a. m. with Mayor Tom Laughren.

The Karl Habla walk will take place again this year starting 11 a. m. on Canada Day at city hall and ending in Schumacher.

The Connaught community will hold its own celebrations, which include breakfast and activities throughout the day.

This year's Rotary Ribfest takes place from Friday to Sunday at Gillies Lake for those wanting to kick-start the fun early.
