Tommy just put the news up but I read on one site that Man I feel like a woman was the song for 3 million plays but I guess it was THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH.

I find it hilarious that country music radio only allowed FOREVER AND FORALWAYS to only go #4 on the charts. This song was so much bigger and more popular than any song released in 2003-2004 and got played over all formats. If a Nashville songwriter would of been envolved in this song or if Shania kissed butt with Nashville then many of her songs from UP would of went #1 on country radio. FOREVER AND FORALWAYS even won BMI country song of the year in 2004 for most played country song but didn't even go #1 on country radio. So it makes me laugh when horrible average songs from the same dull artists go #1 on country radio simply because they are part of the Nashville system. But yet Shania's songs which are much more popular and better are stopped by country radio programmers from going too high.
I guess Shania gets the last laugh since she makes all the money for her songs and she gets recognized all over the world for her song writing.
I completely agree Kevy. Shania is just too independent to get involved or play be Nashville's rules. I too am sure if she had towed the line she would have had a string of #1 hits on country radio. They worked very hard to stop Forever and For Always from earning the #1 spot. It really is ridiculous that some stars (I won't name names) are getting #1 hits on country radio (multiple hits) yet in reality are not selling well. I have never understood Nashville and I doubt I ever will. I am happy for Shania that she wond this award.
I recall FAFA not getting much airplay on the UK radio stations which I listen to, but I know I'm Gonna Getcha Good and Ka-Ching! were played a lot during the Up! period.

I used to listen to Heart at the time the Up! singles were been released and they did play them quite alot. I stopped listening to Heart about 3 years ago so I'm not sure if they still play her. If they do I would bet it would be TDIMM, MIFLAW and YSTO. I do know that BRMB are not very Shania friendly the last few years. I can pick up a Nuneaton station called Oak FM and they do play her stuff, they even have a country show every Sunday which is unusual for an Independant station over here.
Oh man, this is a weird day, maybe the planets and moon and stars are aligned just right... but I agree with kevy now twice today, 100%.
And pay for play still happens. Garth's debut at #1 which is a complete joke is one example, there are many. Reba who may not have known but her record label paid for one of her most recent #1s. Shania is above that. Album and concert sales indicate that she is popular even if at country radio she does well, but they have not given her the top spot since "Honey I'm Home" in 1998.

From time to time Beacon Radio will play her singles from COO and sometimes you'll hear her on Smooth FM. Heart normally plays something like YSTO as part of their chillouts on Sunday mornings. Radio One was supportive of the Up! album when it came out as that's where I heard IGGG for the first time.
