According to a close friend of Shania, the country superstar had been miserable for eons cause of the way her cheating hubby Mutt Lange kept a tight surveillance upon her every move. The friend said Lange was overly possessive, worried that the stunning Shania would be swept off her feet by a younger, good looking Hollywood actor who was obsessed with Shania. Brood long enough on the terror of such an end in vertigo and frustration, Lange started to act weird.
"Many people close to Shania were concerned cause Mutt seemed to control her like a modern day Svengali," the friend, who grew up with Shania in Timmins, Ontario, told IUC. "Anytime another man came near Shania Mutt looked like he was about to explode. A famous Hollywood actor was chatting with Shania at an awards show a few years ago and Mutt seemed very disturbed, probably worried Shania would be swept off her feet by a much younger, more good looking man."
"Now that Shania is single she seems to be happier and more confident than ever. She told a mutual friend how Mutt's affair with another woman was a blessing in disguise cause it finally gave her a chance to get out of his clutches."

I'm glad that Shania is now finding a�sense of freedom and if Mutt seriously thought�she would be�interested in another guy while she was still married to him,�then he�surely had trust issues, because the fact�remained�she loved him and was�not the type to stray.

The age gap didn't bother her, even if it bothered other people around her�and�while it's�true that�he wasn't good looking, it was his personality and his mind creatively that she had fallen in love with.�

Shania spent longer and longer out of the public eye, no doubt because of his controlling behaviour, and it took her away from her passion, which has always been writing/recording�music and touring. No wonder she was miserable. I get the impression that Mutt became far�more interested in real estate than what�was happening to�his wife's recording career.

As soon as he�made her as big as he wanted her�to (because of the obvious riches it earnt him through royalties etc) he then got paranoid of the media's attention surrounding their relationship�(because of his private nature),�out of fear he would be photographed with her, when seen out�in public.

Mutt seemed to want to distance Shania more and more away from her family, since moving to Switzerland and�building a new home-base in New Zealand.

Shania deserves some happiness and that renewed confidence she has found will enable her to live her life, however she chooses.

Any guesses as to who the famous good looking Hollywood actor was who was chatting/flirting with Shania?� I'm drawing a blank.� The only thing that's popping into my mind is Jude Law, but I don't recall Shania meeting him at an awards show.�

Ashton Kutcher, she said he was a good height. Katie Cook interviewed her on CMT Insider In Switzerland in 2004 and they revealed her movie star crush. However, Shania's never met Brad Pitt, who is mentioned in TDIMM.

Ashton is a great guess!� I forgot about him.� And he's into women in their 40's, so Mutt could have thought "uh-oh!"� biggrin

Justin Timberlake is another guess, except he's not really a Hollywood star.� He has started acting, but only recenlty, I believe.� But Justin did imply to Rolling Stone magazine that he'd go after Shania if she weren't married, and Shania has gushed about him more than once.� I even think that if Justin wasn't currently dating Jessica Biel, he'd go after Shania right now. doh

I think a lot of their three part series is untrue. According to Robin Eggar's book and Stevie Lange's official website, her and Mutt have a cordial relationship - he's helped her with money issues and has worked with her.

Also, I don't believe Mutt was that controlling of Shania. Again, according to Robin Eggar's book, Shania was a participate in the making of their albums. Plus, I don't see a woman as strong as Shania being controlled by a man or a woman! Some of that stuff looks like the National Enquirer article that Shania's brother Daryl sold to the tabloids.

You� need to ready closer. The article never said Mutt was at the award show. Sources that were close to Shania at that time just said that Mutt got very jealous. And saying that it was hard for her to get out of bed might be very true. But she did get out of bed and got things done and then later took a vacation and worked through it.
You� need to read between the lines. I am not saying everything is true because there is no way of knowing unless Shania or Mutt tell the story

Could�she have been�in New Zealand in that case? People magazine had written in their article that when�she had learned about his affair, she broke the news to her family members, saying she couldn't take the�betrayal and�fled with her son to her Muskoka home in Ontario.

NO, you are wrong. The trip she took to the Carribean was on June 6 and the seperation announcement was May 15th. But Shania found out about the socalled affair months before the announcement. So she had at least a couple of months to sole search if she was hurt by it.
You honestly don't think Shania announced the seperation the day after the alleged affair. Of course she had tons of time to think it over and then a couple of so months later announce it to the public.

also this guys sources for the investigation could someone who was close in Shania's camp at that time when he noticed Mutt being Jealous. I don't know.
I don't believe everything but there is bits and peices true I am sure.
Nobody said his word is the bible.

With all due respect it is common knowledge that Shania knew of the affair long before she announced the seperation. It was even stated in people magazine that she found out 2 months before the announcement she seperated.
Nowhere did Shania say anything about the seperation or divorce. I don't know where you get your info. Shania hasn't said a word about it at all.
You don't think Shania is that stupid to not think over the situation before going public with the seperation through her pubilcist.

Kevy is right.� I believe the awards show story.� Of course Mutt wasn't there, but it's very easy to believe that Shania herself told Mutt that "so and so was chatting with me".� Or, Shania told a friend who told Mutt.� I agree that everything written may not be true, but Mutt not being there personally doesn't shoot down this story, sorry.

i just don't believe Mutt was that jealous,there's a tape on u tube showing Shania and Hardy at a hockey game together,i saw Shania at a awards show in 07 i just think if Mutt was so jealous and a Svengali why would he let shania go to these other events that she wasn't up for any awards plus would a jealous husband let his wife where this dress

Thanks for pointing that out. Shania said on a Top of the Pops special that she and Mutt are not particularly the�jealous type, but she also�said it's�flattering if there's a bit of jealousy going on as long as it's not taken too far, that's how she got the idea for the song�Don't Be Stupid.

Yes you are correct. That guy who had connections with the industry said back in march on his blog�that Shania and Mutt were seperated and getting divorced.
So not only were they seperated back in March but Shania probably even knew about the affair� long before then.
People here act as if Shania just found out and then went public with it right away.
Shania knew long,long before the announcement.

I have been going back and forth with this for months. I said last week I finally believed maybe Mutt did have an affair but there are too many holes in the stories.
I also said long ago that much more will come out and will were not told the whole truth.If Mutt was actually with this woman and was living with her as people claim then why has nobody at all even found one picture of them together or even near eachother.The national enquirer was staked out at their residence for many weeks.
Mutt is not saying anything and that could mean many things.Maybe he is taking the high road for the sake of his son or maybe he is guilty.
We have onlu got one side of the story and that is Shania,people magazine and Shania's pubicist who are all on Shania's side.
The whole public is on Shania's side and Mutt is the bad guy.
Could Mutt be taking the high road and taking all the blame for the sake of his wife because she is the one who has to have a career in the public?
He can work in the background and it doesn't matter if the public likes him or not.
I got to tell you that I have no clue what the real truth is. All I know is that this was a very successful image Shania put out to the world as the big victim.It has worked big time and the next step is in motion, her comeback.

Personally I don't care about other peoples personal life but this whole situation is very interesting and we have not heard the last of it.

There will be no pictures of Mutt and Ann Marie because swiss laws are tough on papparazi and too because they are careful. Also, I really believe both Mutt and Shania will do what they can to keep things under wraps for the sake of their child Eja. There will be no pictures in the press for these reasons. I think as well that Shania won't say anything bad about Mutt when she does promotion for the next cd because Mutt is Eja's father and she will not do that to Eja. Thats is how I see the situation unfolding.

Given Mutt's previous records of failed marriages, infidelity does seem a key factor here, but there may have been other strains on their marriage too. But whatever factors led to their�marital split, I have never thought for a second�she was faking it with�being devastated, you can see how much this has�effected her. If Shania had been the unfaithful one, the press would have done their digging by now (8 months onwards)�and exposed the person she cheated�with. As for Eja, she'd do anything to protect him from this mess.

And of course Mutt and Shania won't say anything in public and won't make it a mess.I believe it all has been worked out behind closed doors a long time ago.
But Shania has people talking for her so she doesn't have to do it herself.
All of these close sources and so on from people and other magazines are Shania's side. But remember there is 2 sides to every story and don't be too quick to judge Mutt. Shania is far from an angel. I will leave it at that.
I dont' know what really went on and none of us do but things aren't always as they appear.
And I don't care either, I want new music and thats it.

As mentioned, there are rumors out there that Shania was the one who was unfaithful in the marriage, not Mutt.� There were rumors that she cheated on him years ago, and that she continued to do so.� But since Shania is the public figure, and Mutt isn't, he's taking the fall.�

Now, I don't believe these rumors.� But if they really are true, it could help explain why Shania is so reluctant to return to the spotlight.� It was rumored, I think on Nashville Narc, that Shania's PR people worked hard to spin the story so far, and that they're going to need to do some serious damage control if the truth ever comes out.

But yes, these are all just rumors, with nothing to back them up.� It's important to remember that anyone can post anything on the internet, and a complete fabrication can find its way from website to website, until it looks like there's something more to the story, when there's really nothing to it at all.� I'm filing Dan's posting into this catagory for now.

If that were the case that�Shania had cheated then surely�Mutt wouldn't have tolerated that and would have divorced her a long time ago and who excatly�was she supposed to have had an affair with over the years? And I don't think she would have had a child with Mutt if she was being unfaithful.

I just don't believe Shania was the one having the affair, why would she then throw Mutt and her friend under the bus?If she was having a affair and Mutt was going to remain silent about it what would she have to gain by accusing Mutt of the affair?Why not just release a statement like Mutt did and say we grew apart and will remain friends.I'll said this if Shania was having a affair and she pointed a pubic finger at Mutt it would change the way i think of her, not so much for the affair but the sleezy way she handled it.I think some people may feel after Shania goes public with a boyfriend then if there was a affair maybe people can but 2 and 2 together.They stayed at the same resorts at the same time and people seeing them together but believing they where just friends.� After 6 months there is still know one really accussing Shania of a affair just rumors,and why would Mutt feel after all these years feel the need to deny the affair and not accuse Shania if he thought she was having one

im saying IF Shania had a affair and then starts to date the guy the press can check if they where registered at same hotel's, people may have seen them together,things like that.I saw a video of Shania and a band member at a hockey game, a friend ,co-worker,no big deal, but if they started to date then the press would start to dig
