Taylor is on fire right now. It seems her new album, "Fearless", sold 592,000 copies in it's first week. That's an incredible number for her.
Will Shania's return top these first week numbers?
I personally don't think it will. And I'm not posting this to start trouble. I just honestly think that so much has changed since Up! was released, and that Shania will have a hard time getting these kinds of numbers.
But, I could be wrong, and I'd be happy to be wrong. I'd love to see Shania come out of the gate selling 600,000 plus. But I'm also trying to be realistic. We'll see.
Being realistic would see her selling over 800,00 the first week easily with major hype for her next album. In fact Shania's second week sales of UP even beat Taylors first week sales. First week sales have nothing to do with todays music climate. big veteran acts like Shania can sell over 700,000 the first week when they have highly anticpated albums.
Actually 592,000 is not that incredible of a number for talor. She has been promoting nonstop with so many different ways these days to get your music out there and with momentum.
I expect Shania to break her own record and sell over 900,000 the first week. It will be the most highly anticpated album in years and will get huge hype.
Like I said, we'll see. We'll come back to this thread when Shania's album comes out, and we'll see.
You also have to know that Shania has massive mass appeal. Taylor Swift is for teenager only. The Jonas brothers did about the same number as taylor first week, they are just for teenagers too.
You can't compare that to massive veterans with mass appeal and massive built in audience. All it takes is to hype the album and the name Shania and everyone and their dog will buy it. Shania is just in a different league as mass appeal.it doesn't matter how old she is, she has the mass appeal and people are waiting so long for her album. It the first single is great, I see it doing 1 million first week.If the single isn't too great then maybe 750,000 first week . People just want Shania music.
