Dixie Chicks New Song to Get RED(Wire) Web Premiere A new song from the Dixie Chicks called "The Lucky Ones" will premiere online as part of the new digital music magazine, RED(Wire). The new online magazine launches on Monday, December 1 in conjunction with World AIDS Day. For a $5 subscription, users will receive a new issue of RED(Wire) each Wednesday along with a debut song from a major artist, a song from a new artist or a multimedia piece. Proceeds from subscriptions will go toward helping people in Africa with HIV. Which issue of RED(Wire) the Dixie Chicks' new song will be included with is not yet confirmed. "The Lucky Ones" was originally written as the theme song to the recently released, Neil Burger film of the same name starring Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins and Michael Pena, but was pulled from the film when no agreement was reached on licensing fees. As a result, the song will now make its public debut online. Other artists who will have featured material in the RED(Wire) e-zine include Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, U2, Coldplay, John Legend, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, The Police, The Killers, Elton John and the Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant. (RED) was created in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver to engage the private sector in the fight against AIDS in Africa. The project's corporate partners include Starbucks, Converse, Gap, Emporio Armani, Dell, Windows, Apple, Hallmark and the U.K. division of American Express. The Dixie Chicks have also joined up with (PRODUCT) RED partner Gap for their Merry MixIt holiday campaign for which several artists have helped remake classic Christmas songs. Watch the Dixie Chicks' and Sandra Bernhard's very cute take on "Deck the Halls" for Gap below. For more information on the new RED(Wire) digital magazine, visit www.redwire.com.
